Make it so damned difficult to cancel your windows phone dev account subscription, that you will just give up trying and pay as the easy route out.Very sad that it has come to this. Usually I would not approach an open forum such as my site for such issues, but the sad state of their affairs leaves me with no choice. Here is the issue, last year, I opened a WPDev account, for which you have to pay. Seeing that its been a year, I haven’t submitted anything, I didn’t want to renew my account and pay the fee.   • How to prevent one account from unlocking products on other devices using Apple StoreKit?

    We are currently wrapping up a free-to-play game on iOS in which you can purchase non-consumable products. We have been discussing this case internally and are not quite sure what the best practices are as this is our first title. For example, if a user downloads our app, and makes some purchases. These can be restored should the app ever be deleted and reinstalled as long as the user uses the same Apple ID. What is to stop him from making a fake Apple account, purchasing items and then posting this account on the web allowing everyone to get the items for free? That is obviously a worst case situation. But a smaller case would be a user unlocking items for his friends. We do not want this to be an always online game but have considered doing a check on startup if there is internet available. If the currently logged in account doesn't own the products do we lock them again? Probably not because people may simply sign into the device with different Game Center logins at which point we don't want to constantly lock and unlock items. At some point we will be adding multiplayer at which point we can definately do a check with the currently logged in account. This is because A, they will be online when attempting multiplayer, and B, they will want to use their own account for multiplayer. Unfortunately we aren't quite ready for this yet. Has anyone tackled this issue. Are we overthinking here?

  • Making a calendar tool with Google API. Should I use OAuth Service Account?

    I'm creating a calendar tool for a client. He has his work calendars in a Google account, which I have access to. I'll be using the Google Calendar API for the tool, but I'm new to Google APIs and the OAuth stuff. I'll be using PHP. Do I need to use an OAuth2 Service Account, or should I make a regular OAuth2 Web Application Client ID from that Google account? In case this information is helpful, the tool I will be making will do this: 1) Allow my client to fill out a form which will create a new calendar and populate it with several events. 2) Send out an email to a mailing list twice a week listing changes that have been made to these calendars. I'll also be making a page that displays the iframes for each calendar, so his clients may see them even if they do not have a Google account.

So can a company have a main account to publish applications (free and chargeable) and still have some sort of client account for each app (so they could view sales and receive full payment directly)?   • How to re-join an AD2003 domain with Samba after deleting the machine account?

    During some troubleshooting I deleted the machine account for a Linux server running samba from our AD 2003 domain. We are using Kerberos for authentication, and after I deleted the machine account I tried to join the domain again using net ads join -U Administrator But I keep getting Kerberos errors like these: [2009/08/18 16:14:36, 0] libads/kerberos.c:ads_kinit_password(228) kerberos_kinit_password [email protected] failed: Client not found in Kerberos database Failed to join domain: Improperly formed account name It appears as if samba remembers that it once had an account with the AD and keeps trying to reconnect to it, but I want to create a new account from scratch. I tried to delete all the .tdb files I could find as well as everything under /var/cache/samba but to no avail - it still behaves the same. I also tried to create the machine account on the AD side, but then I get a similar error when I try to join, about failure to authenticate with the machine account - it looks like samba tries the previous machine account password and I don't know how to reset it, or even if I could figure out what samba uses - how to set it in the AD. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as at this point the only thing I can think about is to reformat and reinstall the machine, and I would really REALLY love to not do that. Thanks in advance.

So, when I set a new string for the TextView, the new string is displayed but without replacing the old string. Any other TextViews used in my app behave in the same way. Any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it?   • Old fashioned html onclick return false doesnt in IE work when jquery script included

    Ok, so im quite new to jquery but found this bizzar problem just now, If we ignore jquery for a second and consider this scenario, if i have two links like below both with an href and both with and onclick event. The first link will not follow the href because the onclick returns false, and the second link will because the onclick returns true. <a href="/page.html" onclick="return false;">Dont follow</a> <a href="/page.html" onclick="return false;">Follow</a> This works just hunky dory in every browser as it should, the thing is, as soon as i include the jQuery script on the page this stops working in all versions of IE which then always follows the href whether the onclick returns false or not. (it continues to work fine in other browsers) Now if i add an event using jquery and call .preventDefault() on the event object instead of doing it the old fashioned way this behaves correctly, and you may say, well just do that then? But i have a site with thousands of lines of code and i am adding jquery support, i dont want to run the risk that i might miss an already defined html onclick="" and break the website. I cant see why jQuery should prevent perfectly normal javascript concepts from working, so is this a jQuery bug or am I missing something?

    Hi there, I have created a new website for a company and I would like all the previous search engine results to be redirected. Since there were quite a few pages and most of them where using an id I would like to use something generic instead of re-routing all the old pages. My first thought was to do that: Router::connect('/*', array('controller' => 'pages', 'action' => 'display', 'home')); And put that at the very end of the routes.php file [since it is prioritized] so that all requests not validating with previous route actions would return true with this one and redirect to homepage. However this does not work.   • SQL Server 2008, Books Online, and old documentation...

    [I have no idea if stackoverflow really is right right place for this, but don't know how many devs on here run into msi issues with SQL Server; suggest SuperUser or ServerFault if folk think it's better on either of those] About a year ago, when we were looking at moving our codebase forward and migrating to SQL Server 2008, I pulled down a copy of Books Online from the MSDN. Reviewed, did background research, fed results upstream, grabbed Express and tinkered with that. Then we got the nod to move forward (hurrah!) this past couple of weeks. So armed with Developer Edition, and running through the install, I've since found out I've zapped the Books Online MSI, no-ones got a copy of it, and Microsoft only have a later version (Oct 2009) available, so damned if I can update my SQL Server fully and properly... {mutter grumble}. Does anyone know if old versions of Books Online are available for download anywhere? Poking around the Microsoft download centre can't find it, neither is my google-fu finding it. For reference, I'm looking for SQLServer2008_BOL_August2008_ENU.msi ... This may just be a case of good ol' manual delete the files and (try) and clean up the registry :-(

    I have a program executing in c# that is sometimes updated while it is running by swapping the exe to a new one. I want the program to routinely check if it has been updated and if so, restart. The problem I have is once the MainProgram.exe file has been updated (I verify this manually by looking at the file properties and checking the file version), the GetProductVersion still returns the old file version and I have no idea why! Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I currently have a .htaccess file that looks like this: RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^action=view&item=([0-9]+)$ RewriteRule ^index\.php$ /index.php?url=item/%1 [R=301] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?url=$1 [QSA,L] It is meant to 301 redirect my old query string based URLs to new CakePHP urls. This will successfully send users to the correct page. However, Google doesn't seem to like it (see below). I previously tried doing this: RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^action=view&item=([0-9]+)$ RewriteRule ^index\.php$ /item/%1 [R=301] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?url=$1 [QSA,L] But that fails. The second rewrite rule doesn't seem to catch the rewritten URL. It goes straight through. Using the first version wouldn't be a problem, except that I suspect that is what is choking up Google. It hasn't indexed my sitemap full of the new URLs. My old sitemap had been fully indexed and all the URLs are in Google's index. But it isn't following the redirects from the old URLs to the new. I have a 'not followed' error for every one of the query urls that was in my old sitemap. Am I properly using a 301 redirect here? Is it the weird rewrite rule? What can I do to send both Google and users to the proper page and save my page rank?

    I'm working on a project where we collect payments from users using credit/debit/PayPal payments. The service is taking payments from users on behalf of a 3rd party organisation. Once we take the payment, minus fees, we want to transfer the amount to the organisations bank account. For now, what we can do is pay the organisation using Online Banking BACS bank transfer. But I would like to know if there is a way to do this automatically using an API. If we need to somehow register the 3rd parties bank account details before making transfers, this is fine. We just want to automate the whole process, since at the moment the transfer is a manual step. Are there any gateways or APIs I can use for this? In the UK?

    I have written a Windows service that spawns a separate process. This process creates a COM object. If the service runs under the 'Local System' account everything works fine, but if the service runs under the 'Network Service' account, the external process starts up but it fails to create the COM object. The error returned from the COM object creation is not a standard COM error (I think it's specific to the COM object being created). So, how do I determine how the two accounts, 'Local System' and 'Network Service' differ? These built-in accounts seem very mysterious and nobody seems to know much about them.

If i'm using getcwd, it will return the whole path (/home/user/public_html/script) but i need only the difference between the full path and the current path (getcwd path: /home/user/public_html/script/ ftp landing path: /script). So, how can i use getcwd to get the current directory for a ftp account? For example, if the user is landing in public_html, the path to the script will be /script/, or if he is landing inside /user, the path will be /public_html/script. Thanks
