  I am trying to configure DNS on my domain, however, I can only get it to work with the www prefix. Right now I have the following DNS A records: @ A 123.456.789 www A 123.456.789 http://www.mydomain.com works perfectly. But http://mydomain.com fails. I've tried all of the following: mydomain.com A 123.456.789 mydomain A 123.456.789 * A 123.456.789 But it always goes to port :80 requires a username and password. Except now it's somehow being redirected to a spammers website.

  I already bought a domain name .com on godaddy for my company. I would like to reserve the same name with country specific domain extention, but not sure where to buy them and how to do it. • Why I switch from Asana.com

When I started using it it’s make many confusion. Now I switch from it.   When I first time see I really didn’t understand how to make a private list. There is a icon on top click on it and make it private. After doing that I still not sure if this is working. There is a lot of confusion made that time. I discuss too much to figure out small small things. The UI is interesting but so hard to understand.  What I am looking for is just a list that I can hold private. I would like to share it only if I put them shared and put email address of person to hold them same list. Few days ago I see that My Win8 phone have a app that call Microsoft OneNote. The good thing of this MS app is that I can record my voice in the app. If someone want to make a list for future then he just need to say and this can be recorded.  This is awesome when you feel that Mobile keypad is just not so fast as a normal regular keyboard.   Google docs are another good option to handle this thing. Just make a word file and use it. share it with friend with many option. One best thing is this app have very simply UI then any other apps.   One more alternative is https://trello.com which you hear from joel on their blog http://www.joelonsoftware.com/items/2011/09/13.html There are many html5 and browser based, mobile based app. Many of them support multi platform feature. this means you can have them from PC to your Pocket. One good thing we all wanted is offline. if you are not online thing will be saved and push back to server when you will be online.   The biggest problem with some apps are they are attractive easy but hard to learn. Their one feature are not clearly defined what he does. This make frustration and confusion to user. When app are not simple to use people start stop trying to learn it. That’s all the problem I have with asana.com If you don’t want to try anything then what about Sticky Notes that is part of Windows 7. This app are still usable since you can store the text on it. If you know any good app to make a task list that provide access from tablet/mobile then put comment here. In the whole world of app there is a lot of app for doing this same thing differently. • Sync Gmail label with Outlook folder

  I am using Outlook 2011 with gmail. I moved to Outlook 2011 recently. Before that I was using web mail. When I moved to Outlook recently, I got all my labels with the emails. But now when I go the web mail and create a label, it does not come up as a folder in Outlook 2011. Similarly if i delete a label from Gmail, it does not come up in Outlook 2011. • Windows cannot find the host name "download.microsoft.com" using DNS

  When trying to download a file found on the Microsoft downloads center that starts with, for example, http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/8/7/(some_GUID)/(some_file_name.ext) i get a timeout with "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". More information says: Internet connectivity has been lost. The website is temporarily unavailable. The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable. The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain. If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section. Diagnose Connection problems says: Windows cannot find the host name "download.microsoft.com" using DNS Bear with me while i expand on the problem: It all started when i tried to download Windows XP mode for my Windows 7 machine. I went to the virtual PC site, then thru the motions of Windows Genuine Advantage which validated ok, but when it redirects to grab the file just times out with above error. (NB: i also tried with the latest Chrome and Firefox but no use due to the Genuine Advantage stuff, so i decided to stick with IE). I am behind an ADSL2+ modem router connecting via wireless (Win 7 Pro laptop); so i hop over to the desktop connected via ethernet (Vista Business), and same result; begin to think site download.microsoft.com site is down. So i give it a break an read up on EDNS, flushing the cache, hosts file, etc... Try again an hour later on the Win 7 machine, still no go; so i turn off the Win 7 (software) firewall, and lo and behold, i can connect and grab any files from download.microsoft.com; (...nice, so we have a Micro$0ft firewall preventing access to a Micro$0ft website, no wonder my auto-updates kept failing but that's another story). But i still am not happy that the desktop connected via ethernet still cannot get to download.microsoft.com, even though i turned off all firewalls, defenders, anti-virus, etc. What is so special / specific about the url download.microsoft.com, any other site is ok, including www.microsoft.com. Any networking guru know what's REALLY going on, and how can i get the desktop to connect? Ping download.microsoft.com - Ping request could not find host download.microsoft.com. Please check the name and try again. Ping google.com or even www.microsoft.com works gives me an IP address. NB: On the wireless laptop ping download.microsoft.com works, i get xxxx.ms.akamai.net [202.7.177.33].

• Dovecot, POP3 and Gmail

  I setup Postfix and Dovecot on a new Ubuntu box following these directions. From a client machine, I validate that POP3 seems to be working telnet mydomain.com 110 +OK Dovecot ready. USER me@mydomain.com +OK PASS mypassword +OK Logged in. quit +OK Logging out. However, when trying to configure Gmail on the same client to retrieve email via POP3, I get the error Server denied POP3 access for the given username and password. Server returned error: "Login failed." I carefully confirmed that Gmail is configured to use the same POP Server, Port, Username and Password I used when checking the connection with telnet. What could be causing Gmail to get a "Login failed" message?

• Sending a mail to gmail from my local mail server

  I just configured a mail server and tried sending a mail to my gmail account with a local email I created with my mail servers dns. I didn't go well. I use redhat server and sendmail and the testing was done with evolution mail. I had the following error : "RCPT TO<[email protected]> failed: <[email protected]>... relaying temporarily denied. Cannot resolve PTR for my ip" How can I solve this?

• How do I determine whether this email bounce is my fault?

  I use Google Apps to handle email for my personal website, so I have an email address [email protected] through that, and I also have a Gmail account username@gmail.com. Now, I've been trying to send emails to a particular recipient who shall be known as mail@example.com. When I send the email from my Gmail account with the @gmail.com address, it works fine. However, when I send it from my Google Apps account with the @ellipsix.net address, I get a bounce message which includes the following text: Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: mail@example.com Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 554 554 mail server permanently rejected message (#5.3.0) (state 17). The bounce message suggests that it is up to the mail administrator of the recipient domain example.com to fix the problem, whatever it is. But I would like to be as sure as possible that nothing needs to be fixed on my end. I already have DKIM signatures enabled for my domain, and I have published an SPF DNS record. Is there something else I should check or do, or can I be confident that it's up to the recipient to fix this issue? Does the "state 17" in the bounce message mean something relevant? I've included my domain name in the question so people who know more than me about this stuff can independently check the relevant DNS records or other information. This other question seems similar, but I've already investigated everything suggested in the answers there (except for contacting Google, which I don't want to do unless I suspect it's their issue to fix).
