• How to do a for loop in windows command line?

  I was wondering if this was possible? I'm not familiar with using windows command line, but I have to use it for a project I'm working on. I have a a number of files, for which I need to perform a function for each. I'm used to working with python, but obviously this is a bit different, so I was hoping for some help. Basically I need the for loop to iterate through 17 files in a folder, perform a function on each (that's using the specific software I have here for the project) and then that will output a file with a unique name (the function normally requires me to state the output file name) I would suck it up and just do it by hand for each of the 17, but basically it's creating a database of a file, and then comparing it to each of the 17. It needs to be iterated through several hundred times though. Using a for loop could save me days of work. Suggestions?

This is because sometimes i can refresh 3 times and will still get the same image show when using Math.random(). I need to cancel the random and set +1 each time. Any help

I would like to replace these with something more debuggable and readable. • About the leading newline in Visual Studio solution files.

  Sometimes, for unknown reasons, VS 2008 creates solution files led by a newline. Microsoft Visual Studio Solution File, Format Version 10.00 # Visual Studio 2008 [...] This happened on various machines, and I have no idea why this is. A Google search did not yield any useful results. Now, why do I worry about this? Because I can't open these solutions in Windows Explorer. I have to open VS, select File - Open - Solution and it works fine. But to open solutions from within Explorer, I have to edit the sln file and remove the leading newline. Edit: After Leom's suggestion I tested a few times and found that the issue is solely dependent on the leading newline.

• Can we execute methods / code in XCode just like in Visual Studio?

  Visual Studio is one of the best developer IDE of all times, and now was improved with multithreading debugging and much more. My question is regarding XCode and the ability to execute code just like we do in Visual Studio. Let's assume an object in a view and I want to run, let's say: [pickerView setHidden:YES]; in a breakpoint just to see if in that break point I could actually hide the object. I can't find any place for this in the XCode Debugger Am I missing something or I can't execute code that is not in the files already? like in Visual Studio Watch List or Immediate Window

• Quickest and most efficient method to search top 3 numbers?

  I currently have an array of around 8 - 10 numbers that changes on a periodic basis. So around every 5 - 10 seconds the numbers get updated. I need to get the top 3 numbers in the array every 10 seconds. This is all done on a mobile device. At the minute I iterate through the array 3 times and each time I take out the three highest numbers and place them in three previously declared variables. My question is what should I look to do to increase speed and efficiency in this instance?

• jquery get width of previous image

  So i cant get the jquery correct for this one, whatever i try it returns the wrong width. I wish to make the image within the "img-shadow" div the same size as the image right before it. • No route matches - after login attempt - even though the route exists?

  I am working on a rails application and added a simple login system according to a book. I created the controller admin: rails generate controller admin login logout index It added the following routes to routes.db get "admin/login" get "admin/logout" get "admin/index" I can got to http://localhost:3000/admin/login there is no problem at all. But when I try to login I get: No route matches "/admin/login"! Now, the first confusing part is that the "login" method of my AdminController is not executed at all. The second confusing part is that this code works like a charm - redirects everything to /admin/login: def authorize unless User.find_by_id(session[:user_id]) flash[:notice] = "you need to login" redirect_to :controller => 'admin', :action => 'login' end end Sidenotes: I restarted the server several times. I tried a different browser - to be sure there is no caching problem.

• How to read system information in C++ on Windows and Linux?

  I need to read system information like CPU/RAM/disks usage in C++. Maybe swap, network and process too but that's less important. It has probably been done thousand of times before so I first tried to search for a library. Someone here suggested SIGAR, which seems to fit my needs but it has a GPL license and it is for inclusion in a proprietary product. So it's not an option here. I feel like it's something not that easy to implement, as it'll need testing on several platforms. So a library would be welcome. If you don't know of any library, could you point me in the right direction for both platforms?

• java - reduce external jar file size

  Hi all, still learning, so be patient :) I've developed a module for a Java project. The module depends on external library (fastutil). the problem is, the fastutil.jar file is a couple of times heavier than the whole project itself (14 MB). I only use a tiny subset of the classes from the library. the module is now finished, and no-one is likely to extend it in future. is there a way I could extract only the relevant class to some fastutil_small.jar so that others don't have to download all this extra weight? there's probably a simple answer to this, but as I said, I still consider myself a noob. • Why hashCode() returns the same value for a object in all consecutive executions?

  Hi, I am trying some code around object equality in java. As I have read somewhere hashCode() is a number which is generated by applying the hash function. Hash Function can be different for each object but can also be same. At the object level, it returns the memory address of the object. Now, I have sample program, which I run 10 times, consecutively. Every time i run the program I get the same value as hash code. If hashCode() function returns the memory location for the object, how come the java(JVM) store the object at same memory address in the consecutive runs? Can you please give me some insight and your view over this issue?

• Subscribe to the 'complete' event of a .load() on a specific DOM element?

  Hi all, I already use both .live() and .bind('ajaxComplete') to accomplish certain related tasks, but I have found myself wanting to be able to listen for the 'complete' event of a specific DOM element which will call jQuery's .load() at various times. In this situation I don't want to listen for ALL complete events globally (unless someone can show me how to get the proper target from the event object returned by 'ajaxComplete'). I would like to be able to do something like this: $('.selector').load('url.php',{data:data},function(){ ... }); and then somewhere else, attach a handler to listen and execute some other code whenever that ajax call fires and completes: $('.selector').bind('complete',function(){ ... }); is there any way to do this? or must i always make use of the 'complete' event within the context of the load() method?

• Windows Phone 7 Control Caching - 'Element is already the child of another element'

  I'm trying to speed up my windows phone 7 page load times. I have a 'static' page that has a dynamically created in a Panorama control - static meaning that the content never changes. On the first load I look at my config file, create the individual PanoramaItem controls and add them to the main Panorama control. I'm trying to keep a List in a static place so that the initial creation would only happen once and I could just add a fully rendered version to my Panorama control when the page was rendered. Works fine on first load, but when I try to add the cached PanoramaItems to the Panorama control I get the message "Element is already the child of another element". This makes sense since I already added before. But I can see a way to disconnect the PanoramaItems with the first Panorama control... I could be going about the control caching thing all wrong as well... Let me know if there's another way to do this.

  Hi, I have a performance problem on a query. First table is a Customer table which has millions records in it. Customer table has a column of email address and some other information about customer. Second table is a CommunicationInfo table which contains just Email addresses. And What I want in here is; how many times the email address in CommunicationInfo table repeats in Customers table. What could be the the most performer query. The basic query that I can explain this situation is; Select ci.Email, count(*) from Customer c left join CommunicationInfo ci on c.Email1 = ci.Email or c.Email2 = ci.Email Group by ci.Email But sure, it takes about 5, 6 minutes in execution. • Network license control for a Java application

  I have been tasked with providing some form of network license control for a Java application. The app would be stored on a network drive and run from a client machine. The basic idea is that it will be able to work out how many times it is being run concurrently and prevent the N+1th user from running the software where N is the number of concurrent licenses the customer has purchased. Is this possible somehow with a Java application? I implemented a "solution" which relied on multi-cast UDP communication between the running instances of the application but this didn't work because on most networks this kind of communication is blocked by security measures. Is there a better way? I don't even mind if it requires JNI/JNA. N.B. The solution does not have to be that sophisticated or highly secure.

  I'm attempting to create an anti-bruteforcer for the login page on a website. Unfortunately, my query is not working as expected. I would like to test how many times an IP address has attempted to login, and also return the ID of the user for my next step in the login process. However, I'm having a problem with the query... for one thing, this would only return rows if it was the same user as they had been trying to login to before. I need it to be any user. Secondly, regardless of whether I use LEFT JOIN, RIGHT JOIN, INNER JOIN or JOIN, it will not return the user's ID unless there is a row for the user in login_attempts.   I'm going to pass a function to another function which should operate with the passed function. For example: handler(fun1("foo",2)) handler(fun2(1e-10)) The handler is something like calling the passed function many times. I'm going to bind handler, fun1, fun2 to C-functions. fun1 and fun2 are going to return some user data with a pointer to some cpp-class so that I can further recover which function was it. The problem now is that fun1 and fun2 are going to be called before passed to handler. But I don't need this, what I need is the kind of function and its parameters. However, I should be able to call fun1 and fun2 alone without handler: fun1("bar",3) fun2(1e-5) Is it possible to get the context the function is called from? • Ruby ActiveRecord + Mongrel going slow

Every 3rd request is very slow (about 5 seconds, 1st and 2nd is ok, about 0.01 sec). The problem in Model.all.to_xml (it is ActiveRecord - SQLite). Why it is too slow? It only happens when I use it in Mongrel::HttpHandler.. This 100.times do a = Time.now Car.all.to_xml puts "#{Time.now - a}" sleep(1) end is always works good.

  I have two tables: DRIVER (Driver_Id,First name,Last name,...) PARTICIPANT IN CAR ACCIDENT (Participant_Id,Driver_Id-foreign key,responsibility-yes or no,...) Now, I need to find out which driver participated in accident where responsibility is 'YES', and how many times. I did this: Select Driver_ID, COUNT (Participant.Driver_ID)as 'Number of accidents' from Participant in car accident where responsibility='YES' group by Driver_ID order by COUNT (Participant.Driver_ID) desc But, I need to add drivers first and last name from the first table(using inner join, I suppose). I don't know how, because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause. Please help :)

  Hi! A newbie question. Do languages like e.g. Ruby (if running MRI, I mean not compiled to byte-code) run actually parsed everytime when an execution of e.g. method or loop body is needed? I mean, to execute a loop, you need to parse its body N times? I just always thought that all these programs are being parsed one time at the bootstrap - transformed in a 'strongly-typed' statements tree etc.. Is that not true?

  I'm trying to exclude the zero in this nested for loop here using != 0; but it is not doing anything. I'm trying to get the probability of each out come of 2 six sided dice when rolled. I must figure out the amount of times they are rolled first, but a die doesn't have a zero in it, so I must exclude it.
