• How to know from a bash script if the user abruptly closes ssh session

  I have a bash script that acts as the default shell for a user loging in trough ssh. It provides a menu with several options one of wich is sending a file using netcat. The netcat of the embedded linux I'm using lacks the -w option, so if the user closes the ssh connection without ever sending the file, the netcat command waits forever. I need to know if the user abruptly closes the connection so the script can kill the netcat command and exit gracefully. Things I've tried so far: Trapping the SIGHUP: it is not issued. The only signal issued i could find is SIGCONT, but I don't think it's reliable and portable. Playing with the -t option of the read command to detect a closed stdin: this would work if not for a silly bug in the embedded read command (only times out on the first invocation)

• Rails + RSpec problem

  I have just installed Rspec and Rspec-rails. When i try to run the test, it says: rake aborted! • Compile Qt Project To Run On A Linux System

  I have a Qt project. It uses the cross platform libraries SDL, OpenGL and FLTK. I want to be able to compile the project so that it can run on a Linux computer. I'm looking at a bunch of articles I have seen so far two ways to do this. Use a cross compiler, which seems to me a rather complicated thing to setup and compile with, or, the other options, is to compile the project simply on a Linux computer, simply the Linux version of Qt creator/SDK. My question is, If I have a Qt project that uses only cross platform libraries, then is creating a Windows version easy as compiling it in Qt/Windows, and creating the Linux version as easy as doing it in Qt/Linux? PS. Please don't ask/complain about why I didn't just try to see if it works myself, I don't have any Linux OS's installed on my computer right now, and I don't want to risk going into the trouble of installing a whole new OS just to have it not work in the end.

  I am simply looking for the formula that should be used here. All the results I've found base "finding the bitrate" off of already existing video. I'm talking about LIVE streaming. (indeterminate length) So, I know some basic parts of it, but I just need to know if I'm right or missing anything. For Kbps: Resolution * Framerate / 1024 Is it really that simple? Audio would be a separate element for our purposes here. Am I missing anything from this formula? (Coming up with a proposal of what amount of bandwidth would be required, relative to possible resolution options, so I just need to be sure that I'm not missing anything or inaccurate about it)

None of them provide timeline charts on their own. I am looking at other options such as using third party libraries. The chart should have drill down capabilities as well. As for my environment, here is the relevant portion of my Gemfile: group :test, :development do gem 'minitest-rails' end And the resulting portions of my Gemfile.lock: minitest (2.12.1) minitest-rails (0.0.7) minitest (~> 2.12) rails (~> 3.1) I am now in the process of debugging this. I would appreciate any tips. In any case, I will report back.

• Directory layout for a Python project with C extension modules

  We have numerous projects in our organization that are mixed Python/C. Currently we're trying to standardize on a directory layout for our projects and are trying to come up with a convenient scheme. One point of contention is where to put C extension modules in the tree. We're tossing around a couple of options (relative to project root): ./src/package/subpackage/module.c or alongside the python modules in the package tree: ./package/subpackage/module.c or in a src directory in the subpackage: ./package/subpackage/src/module.c One reason for keeping them out of the package directories could be because it will lead to clutter, especially if there are other .c and .h files which aren't themselves modules but still need to be compiled. Also in the "integrated" scheme, what do you do with headers and files that are used by more than one module? Put them in a common top-level directory? I'd be interested to know what other people are using, or if there are any established best practices for this.

  i was running a test remotely on internet explorer, and when using navigate().to() selenium returns me this: "12:13:58.770 INFO - WebDriver remote server: Exception: The driver reported that the command timed out. • numeric sort with NSSortDescriptor for NSFetchedResultsController

  I'm trying to numerically sort data that's displayed in a UITableView. Before that I used such a sort descriptor: sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"name" ascending:YES selector:@selector(caseInsensitiveCompare:)]; now I'd like to use block to sort this numerically like this: sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"name" ascending:YES comparator:^NSComparisonResult(id obj1, id obj2) { return [((NSString *)obj1) compare:(NSString *)obj2 options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch | NSNumericSearch]; }]; but it sorts the data incorectly causing conflict with section names in NSFetchedResultsController. So I tryed to immitate the old sorting with a comparator block - just to be sure that the problem is not caused by numeric comparison. The problem is that those lines: sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"name" ascending:YES comparator:^NSComparisonResult(id obj1, id obj2) { return [((NSString *)obj1) caseInsensitiveCompare:(NSString *)obj2]; }]; also cause the same error and I don't see why they won't sort the data in the same way the first method did... Any ideas?

• OO C++ - Virtual Methods

  Just a really quick question here. I'm using virtual functions to read in from a text file. Now, it's virtual because in one aspect I want the values to be normalised, and, in the other respect I don't want them to be normalised. I have tried to do this: bool readwav(string theFile, 'native'); So in theory, if the 'native' is used, this method should be called, however, if 'double' is called then a different version of the method is called. Same for if the value is empty, it should just perform the native option. First question, why doesn't the declaration above work? Also, is this the best route to go down? Or, would it be better to have just one class method that switches between the options. Thanks :)

  i have recently purchased an AVR USB programmer from robokits.co.in, was trying to program atmeg8 using AVR studio4 and i get the following when i click on the program options: a problem occurred when executing the command. make sure u are using the correct programming method. current mode is ISP verify that the device is placed in the correct socket, and that the ISP cable is connected properly.check that the programming frequency specified in the main page is well below 1/4th of the clock frequency of the device. i have tried all that i could think of, i have checked the connections and the freq is below 1/4th of the device. but that doesn't solve this problem i have made the circuit for blinking LEDs program please help me out see the image for details thanking you

What I need is : 4 Dropdowns Only the first dropdown is visible when first entering the page. When selecting an option from dropdown1 the dropdown2 will be populated and so on If there is only 1 option then the dropdown should be hidden If all 4 dropdowns are set and the end-user changes dropdown1, then dropdown2 should be reloaded and the rest be hidden If the user has selected some of the dropdowns (say 1, 2 and 3) and hit submit and the page is not accepted on the server side (not valid) the dropdowns should be set exactly as when the user clicked the submit button when the page returns to the user. Any suggestions on this?

• C# PCL rendering into TIFF (or other image format)

  I'm looking for the best solution -- and perhaps the cheapest also -- to take PCL5e and PCL6 compliant code and render it into a TIFF image. Reliably. Does anyone have any experience with the PCLTool SDK from PageTech (http://www.pagetech.com/pcl.php)? This looks to be the best I can find, but I'm not sure how flexible it really is. The other options is trying to write my own interface, which would be a BEAST of a project and not one I really want to try to tackle. Any open-source solutions out there? Anyone with a C#/.NET project having success with PCL rendering? If so, how?

I've tried removing the +followSymlinks line, even the rewrite engine line. I haven't tried removing the conditions cause I don't think I should have to, I'm probably wrong.

  I made a small backup application that simply creates an archive out specified files and folders. Now I need an online service to backup that online. Which service can i use that can be integrated into my app ? Options I considered: dropbox is ideal, but they have all but abandoned the desktop. skydrive has no api. I couldn't find any free reliable backup service that uses ftp . anything else ? it should provide 1-2 gb of free space and be reasonably reliable. • Preventing FIN_WAIT2 when closing socket

  I have a server program that connects to another program via a given socket, and in certain cases I need to close the connection and almost immediately re-open it on the same socket. This by and large works, except that I have to wait exactly one minute for the socket to reset. In the meantime, netstat indicates that the server sees the socket in FIN_WAIT2 and the client sees it as CLOSE_WAIT. I'm already using SO_REUSEADDR, which I thought would prevent the wait, but that isn't doing the trick. Setting SO_LINGER to zero also does not help. What else can I do to resolve this? But those won't help. • Jquery autosuggest google maps - Load on selection

  At the moment, the Google map code works like this: When you start typing in the input box it loads a list of suggestions. Then when you click on one of these options from the list, it puts it into the input box. However, THEN you still have to click find to load up the result. I want to have it so when you click on an option from the autosuggest list, it automatically loads the result, without having to click "find" afterwards. This is the code I am working with.   i know this sounds really common and so trivial but , am having a challenge here. I have a web site with Zend/Doctrine and i use ckeditor for the backend management. after uploading the site i've realized that during edit testing the look and feel of the site is messed up. with the help of firebug, i've seen that there are slashes all over the html. after inline edition, the look and feel came back to normal. There are so many files , i can't think of doing other decoding before outputting data from mysql. • how to find out how much application memory django process is (or will be) taking?

  There are different "Application memory" options (like 80MB...200MB) in django-friendly hosting called webfaction and I'm confused deciding which one I should buy. Could someone please walk me through the ideas on how to figure out how much memory my project might require (excluding operating system, the main apache server and the database servers memory requirements)? I understand in theory I'll need to perform some kind of load testing, but thought there might be ways to calculate that in advance with some simple/relatively easy understandable approach. I don't know how hard they enforce application memory usage limit, and another question is: what will happen if more users came to the site and more threads started than what I expected? Will the application crash? Or will delays just become uncomfortable? And - no, application is not ready yet (I can't measure anything right now). Development environment if it matters is Winodows 7, 64-bit. Hosting itself is some kind of Linux I think. (Sorry if it's not a stackoverflow question.)

• How to execute maven tasks in eclipse (Sonatype plugin)

  Hi all I know it must be something simple, but I just can't figure it out.. I'm using the Sonatype maven plugin on eclipse. When I want to build a war file for a webapp project, the only way I know to do it is to use the command line and type mvn package. I've looked all through the right click menu and I can't find any way to do it from eclipse. There's a maven submenu that seems to have no options to do with building, and there's a run menu that doesn't seem right - I don't want to run my project - I just want to build it. There is a maven build option in the run menu, but if I run it, a configuration window pops up for me to enter goals in.. How I do I just do a simple mvn package, but through gui? What am I missing? Thanks!
