• Visual Studio stops debugging with no errors unexpectedly

  I am debugging a project and Visual Studio stops debugging and closes the program on the following line with no exceptions or error messages (I have enabled notifications for any thrown exceptions in options): var query = Session.Linq<RSS>() .Where(x => x.LastRetrieved <= date || x.LastRetrieved == null) .Where(x => x.Moderated); Where Session.Linq refers to LINQ2NHibernate. Anyway, the question is: what are the possible reasons for such behavior? Tested both on VS 2010 and 2008 - they behave identically just falling out of debugging.

• Mixing expressions and expression language (<%= %> inside of c:if)

  I need to access some constants in my jsp, and sadly the EL does not offer any functionality for it. There are some options like the unstandard tag library, but I'd like to keep it a bit more standard. I tried: <%@ page import = "com.jackdane.Constants"%> <c:if test="${object.display == '<%=com.jackdane.Constants.YES %>}'"> //some display logic </c:if> But that doesn't appear to do the trick. It's been a while since I've used an expression so I might have made an error. Any input is appreciated. Edit: To clarify, the constants class is not in my control. It's inside a jar file that I recieved. It contains no getters/setters. Just private static final Strings.

• Spring 3.0 REST implementation or Jersey?

  Hi, SO! I'm currently trying to figure out which implementation of JSR-311 I'm going to recommend further up the food chain. I've pretty much narrowed it down to two options - Spring 3.0 with it's native support for REST - or use Sun's own Jersey (Restlets might also be an option). To me it doesn't seem to be much of a difference in the actual syntax, but there might be issues with performance that I haven't figured out yet. The service is meant to replace some heavy-duty EJB's and make a RESTful Webservice instead. The load is expected to be rather high, up in the 100k users per day (max) range, but will be seriously load balanced. Thanks for all your insights.

• Virtual PC (XPMode) - How to access Webserver on guest from host

  I have Windows XP running inside Windows 7 via Virtual PC (XPMode) and installed Zend Server CE on the virtual XP guest. The webserver is running and can be accessed on the guest, but I cannot access the webserver from the Win7 host. I configured a static IP address and subnet of 255.255.255.0 on the guest and can ping this IP from the guest but not from the host. The other way it works fine, i.e. I can ping the host from the guest. I can also access the internet from the virtual XP guest. I tried different Network Options in the VirtualPC settings, but nothing helps. Googling the topic I couldn't find anything helpful yet. Any idea, what I could try to access the webserver on the virtual XP guest from the Win7 host?

• How can I relocate to a new repository address with TortoiseSVN?

  I have a working copy checked out from: https://oldserver/svn/myproject/branches/mybranch The server address has changed (actually, the repo was copied over to a new server) so I want to relocate my working copy to the new address: https://newserver/svn/myproject/branches/mybranch Note that only the address changed, not the path. But if I type that URL in TortoiseSVN's "Relocate" dialog box, I get the error "'https://newserver/svn/myproject/branches/mybranch' is not the root of the repository" ... well, of course it isn't, but so what? Then I thought maybe SVN wanted the repository root URL, so I tried giving it https://newserver/svn instead, but that produced the error "Relocate can only change the repository part of an URL". Are there any options besides backing up my changes and checking out a fresh WC from the new server?

  I am developing a server simulator for one of my client application. I am using GlassFish server. I have to simulate a http connection terminate condition in my server application. Is there a way by which I can explicitly terminate a connection from server side such that client does not receive any response header. Currently I have tried many options like closing the response outputStream. But in every case a http 200 OK message is delivered to the client application. I would like to consume the http-request and do not want to return anything to the client. I am using a simple conrtroller servlet and had overridden doGet() and doPost() functions.

• How do I pass custom action data from a Visual Studio Setup MSI to an output project via a Merge mod

  I have a fully working Setup project within Visual Studio 2008 that takes inputs from a UI and passes them via a Custom Action to the output - this works perfectly. Now I have to change this so that the UI is still in a setup project but that the output is within a merge module. The current Custom Action Data looks much like the following with EditHostUrl coming from a UI dialog editbox. /HostUrl="[EditHostUrl]" I now need to pass this value to the merge module and then from there use it as an input for the custom action data to the project output but there does not seem to be any documentation on how to achieve this. To be clear Wix/InstallShield etc... are not currently options. I would also rather not embed the UI within the merge module (for reasons of separation and also it's not supported out of the box with visual studio).

• How to protect against GHC7 compiled programs taking all memory?

  When playing with various algorithms in Haskell it often happens to me that I create a program with a memory leak, as it often happens with lazy evaluation. The program taking all the memory isn't really fun, I often have difficulty killing it if I realize it too late. When using GHC6 I simply had export GHCRTS='-M384m' in my .bashrc. But in GHC7 they added a security measure that unless a program is compiled with -rtsopts, it simply fails when it is given any RTS option either on a command line argument or in GHCRTS. Unfortunately, almost no Haskell programs are compiled with this flag, so setting this variable makes everything to fail (as I discovered in After upgrading to GHC7, all programs suddenly fail saying "Most RTS options are disabled. Link with -rtsopts to enable them."). Any ideas how to make any use of GHCRTS with GHC7, or another convenient way how to prevent my programs taking all memory?

• I tried installing Ubuntu 10.04 and I got this message - any ideas on what to do?

  No root file system defined. Please correct this from the partition menu. This message shows up when I first boot into Ubuntu after the installation. I installed it by mounting the ISO with Daemon Tools, and I just did the default Wubi installation. I keep reading everywhere that I need to choose my installation directory, but I don't get any option to do that. These are all the options I get for installation directory. I have a C and D partition on my drive, and I tried installing it on both and no luck either way. Any ideas?

  I have downloads for static files like product.exe. I want to limit access to these files with a .htaccess file so that only certain users can download it. I think this can be handled with mod_rewrite and I found this snippet online that blocks bad sites using the referrer. I know it may not be the best way to do it, and I guess the referrer can be spoofed, but it does not have to be THAT secure. I am also open to other ideas you may have to for limitting access.   I am trying to consume this WSDL service: Transit Time Service I successfully connect and get a response the first time but on subsequent calls I receive the exception: The underlying connection was closed: A connection that was expected to be kept alive was closed by the server. I overrode the GetWebRequest in the reference.cs file as such: protected override System.Net.WebRequest GetWebRequest(Uri uri) { HttpWebRequest webRequest = (HttpWebRequest)base.GetWebRequest(uri); webRequest.KeepAlive = false; return webRequest; } This hasn't yielded any improvement.   Error: End tag for 'optgroup' which is not finished. You have probably failed to include a required child element. Hence the parent element is "not finished", not complete. I want to achieve something like this in select options. USA UK -- Afghanistan I want to put few important countries on top and then a non-selectable divider and then ordered list of remaining countries. I put this divider using empty 'optgroup'. While it works perfectly in all browser, I get validation error. What could be other approaches?

  I have a table which is built dynamically based on how much data is present, if at all. I want to be able to long press anywhere on a the table row to be able to get some options to delete or edit etc. Is this possible? Remember I need to do all this without setting any XML as its dynamically built. • Alternatives to sign() in sqlite for custom order by

  I have a string column which contains some numeric fields, but a lot are 0, empty string or null. The rest are numbers having different range, all positive. I tried to create a custom order by. The order would be done by two fields. First I would like to order the fields that have this number 0 and then sort by name. So something this would work: select * from table order by sign(referenceid) desc, name asc; But Sqlite lacks the sign() -1/0/1 function, and I am on Android and I can't create user defined functions. What other options I have to get this sort done.

  I've been trying to get Jetty to run my web app via a custom launcher (embedded). I am trying to figure out how to tell Jetty which java compiler to use for JSPs. I want to do what java -jar start.jar -OPTIONS=jsp does, but without using start.jar. Here is what shows on the console: Javac exception, Unable to find a javac compiler; com.sun.tools.javac.Main is not on the classpath. Perhaps JAVA_HOME does not point to the JDK Do I need to put the javac libraries into my classpath?

In PostgreSQL, a RULE or a stored procedure can be used to delete data on the fly, evaluating condition only once. Which solution is better? Are there other options?

  I have several locations in tables in a mysql database which i want to have displayed as POI's, the table is too large and changes too frequently to use sql lite so i need to get the info from mysql. I have set up a mapView indicating the device location in mapview using an image at drawable, but i now need to ad the other locations from the database. Then when a user clicks on an item i need a popup with options to route there using google maps navigation, or view mobi site, phone, or email. I am new to android. Please assist. Have gone through the overlay tut but no indication on how to get the info from db. Is there a tut somwhere so i can see some example code to do this?

  When my application run . I got a message says : Ping: Timed out waiting for signal from JVM. The JVM was launched with debug options so this may be because the JVM is currently suspended by a debugger. Any future timeouts during this JVM invocation will be silently ignored. What does that mean? It seems it will block any web request from outside? because when I upload a file to it, it failed. help me .

• MVC Html.DropDownList closes prematurely in IE7

  I'm using ASP.NET MVC with jquery. I have a couple of dropdownlists. When I select one via mouse click and then scroll down over the items using the mouse/cursor, the list closes before a selection can be made, before the mouse can be clicked. This doesn't happen when I open them and then up/down arrow to select an item. It doesn't happen all of the time, but a lot. Just to try something different, I added a jquery "select" control with hardcoded values (options) and it displays the same behavior. I have the following settings: In IE, under Tools-Internet Settings-Advanced (tab)-Browsing Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) is checked. Disable script debugging (Other) is checked. In VS, under Debug-Exceptions-Common Language Runtime Exceptions JScript Exceptions (thrown and user-unhandled) are unchecked. In VS, under Tools-Options-Debugging-Just-In-Time Script is unchecked. There are some JavaScript errors that I just don't care about and it is driving me insane having to deal with them.

Dll use package "Pack", but not include in Runtime Packages options. I've compared new dll with old version dll thought the instrumentality of PE Explore. In new dll I find out many modules with prefix 'ec' implicitly imported unlike old dll. Package "Pack" using ecControls components Dll doesn't using explicitly call to ecControls units. • How do I search nodes of XML document for text? Or convert to SQL tables?

  Hi I have an XML file and would like to run a search on the nodes for text that matches user input. My options are: Convert the XML file to a SQL table and run the search against the table records. Search the XML nodes themselves. The problem is that I cannot find a open source conversion utility, nor can I figure out how to search the XML nodes.
