• jquery scrollTo refuses to work

  hey, ive read all the scrollTo questions and couldnt find the answer. im trying to use the scrollTo plugin for a simple horizontal scroll (the site is horizontally designed). im using the following code $(document).ready(function() { $('#contactlink').click(function(){ $.scrollTo("#conta", {duration: 8000 }); }); }); as is obvious, contactlink is the anchor link while conta is the anchor where the window should scroll to. i know im missing something very obvious, but as im a beginner with jquery, id appreciate all the help i can get. is there any way to debug the functioning of the plugin? thanks

• Mail merge from Java

  Hi all, Does anyone have any experience with doing mail merge from Java on a word document? I need to support both doc and docx formats. I have heard of Apache POI and docx4j. However, from reading around I'm sure how good the word support is in POI. docx4j only supports docx format as far as I can see. Can any suggest either one of the above (and correct my knowledge on support) or another appropriate library. If necessary I would be willing to use one lib for doc and another for docx. Thanks.

• Digital signature integration with software written in java

  hi everyone, i'm extremely rookie on this security field, so please forgive if my questions are dumb. i am asked to convert and migrate couple "Lotus Forms" forms to our software that is written in java. One thing in forms that bother me is digital signatures. These forms can be signed by digital signatures, probably generated by "Silanis Approve-it". as i have said before, i dont have much knowledge about this technology. and strangely couldnt find any tutorial or example of integrating digital signature and java. So what are the possibilities here ? how my code read a digital signature, sign a document with this signature? There should be an API or something that is provided by vendors right :)

• trigger onchange event manually

  Hi all, I'm setting a date-time textfield value via a calendar widget. Obviously, the calendar widget does something like this : document.getElementById('datetimetext').value = date_value; What I want is : On changing value in the date-time textfield I need to reset some other fields in the page. I've added a onchange event listener to the datetimetext field which is not getting triggered, because I guess onchange gets triggered only when the element gets focus & its value is changed on losing focus. Hence I'm looking for a way to manually trigger this onchange event (which I guess should take care of checking the value difference in the text field). Any ideas ? Thanks in advance, Anitha

  Can somebody recommend the best (and preferably portable) way to render HTML documents onto a bitmap? As far as I understand my main 2 options are WebKit and Gecko, but I wasn't able to find a good starting point on how to do it. When I last tried doing this 5 years ago, I ended up using Gecko to send the document to a printer, which is not really what I need. I need rendering to a in-memory bitmap. To clarify: server side, no Java, no .NET, batch processing, performance, not interactive, no Javascript.

  I'm trying out the Highcharts jQuery plugin for creating charts of data in an MVC application. But I need to get the data for the function dynamically from an Action Method. How can I do that? • Can you use PHP libcurl to pull files from server A to server B?

  Hi, cURL and libcurl let you do things you normally do with a browser, right? Like, as if you have a jini sit inside a server and fire up a browser and do stuff. Ok then. I need a script to sit on server B, and click on download links on a server A and download files (from server A to server B). I am new to curl, and not sure if all I need is to issue a simple get or something else. I know that Content-disposition header forces the browser to save the document. Does it have the same effect on libcurl too? If it does, I'll make my serving script on server A send that header, and then serve the file. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Could anyone please explain the following line of code, found on http://docs.openttd.org/ai__cargo_8cpp_source.html return (AICargo::TownEffect)::CargoSpec::Get(cargo_type)->town_effect; If this line was: return (AICargo::TownEffect) ::CargoSpec::Get(cargo_type)->town_effect; (note the space between TownEffect) and the ::) then I would understand it fine. However there is no whitespace in that document*, which would mean (AICargo::TownEffect) is the left operand of the :: operator. How does this code work/compile? Or are the two things equivilent due to some obscure C++ rule? *It's the same in the cpp file as well.

  Hi, I have a URL that returns data in CSV format. I would like to use Google Vizualization to create an interactive chart of the data. I've looked at several examples on Google Chart and Vizualization web page but I'm a bit confused as I'm not familiar with JavaScript or web programming in general. Question: Do I have to use JavaScript to parse the CSV string myself and manually construct the DataTable with addColumn() and addRows()? Or, is there a way to simply pass the CSV url to the charting function? I'm hoping to do something like this: var csv_data = get_data_from_url('http://...') var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(csv_data); var chart = new google.visualization.PieChart(document.getElementById('chart_div')); chart.draw(data, ...); Can someone please help me out?   I have the following form on an .NET MVC View: <form method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="/Video/UploadDocument"> <input type="file" id="document1" name="document1"/> <input type="submit" value="Save"/> </form> And the controller has the following signature that gets called: public ActionResult UploadDocument(HttpPostedFileBase file) { return View(); } When I break inside the UploadDocument method, the parameter 'file' is null. I've selected a valid document on my desktop and know it contains text. What am I missing to get this file upload working?

  I set my wordpress permalink structure to /%postname%/ but now when I go to a page other than the home page (for example if I went to somelink.com/about) I lose all javascript references. I think this happens because the links to the js files are no longer right as it is in the imaginary folder "about".   I'm trying to implement shoulda unit tests on a rails 2.3.5 app using mongomapper. So far I've: Configured a rails app that uses mongomapper (the app works) Added shoulda to my gems, and installed it with rake gems:install Added config.frameworks -= [ :active_record, :active_resource ] to config/environment.rb so ActiveRecord isn't used. My models look like this: class Account include MongoMapper::Document key :name, String, :required => true key :description, String key :company_id, ObjectId key :_type, String belongs_to :company many :operations end My test for that model is this one: class AccountTest < Test::Unit::TestCase should_belong_to :company should_have_many :operations should_validate_presence_of :name end It fails on the first should_belong_to: ./test/unit/account_test.rb:3: undefined method `should_belong_to' for AccountTest:Class (NoMethodError) Any ideas why this doesn't work? Should I try something different from shoulda? I must point out that this is the first time I try to use shoulda, and I'm pretty new to testing itself.

There is a version.txt file in the \testserver\testapp$ folder and the only contents of this file is the build number (eg 45 - for build 45) How do I read the contents of the version.txt file into a variable in the batch file? How do I check if a file \fileserver\myapp\releasedocs\ {build}.doc exists using the variable from part 1 in place of {build}?

• w3c validation error with utf-8

  When I try to validate a certain page I get the below error: Sorry, I am unable to validate this document because on line 136 it contained one or more bytes that I cannot interpret as utf-8 (in other words, the bytes found are not valid values in the specified Character Encoding). Please check both the content of the file and the character encoding indication. The error was: utf8 "\xFF" does not map to Unicode What exactly does this mean and how can I find out what character is causing the problem? The page is generated dynamically in PHP and a bit large and I am not sure what to look for.
