  • Are @property's necessary for Interface Builder?

    In my UIViewController subclass, I have 3 UIView's with each a @property as an IBOutlet. I do not use these properties at all in my code. The views get instantiated as soon as the view controller is created and they are deallocated when the view controller is deallocated. I was thinking; can't I just remove the @property's? I did, and I could still connect my instance variables (with IBOutlet) in Interface Builder. So my question now is; is there any use for properties in combination with Interface Builder, or is it OK to leave them out? Is it required for some memory management or something? Or are they really just for use in your own code? And if I do leave them out, do I still need to release them in dealloc?

[newView removeFromSuperview]; Now when I try adding newView as subview again using the above code,its first adds the view as a subview(without animation) and again with animation.

I understand very well that everyone starting with that SDK is too exited about getting its hand on it but a few reading would save them hours of debugging and the frustration that come along with the feeling that "We miss something here". I'd like experience users to share the few small articles, white papers, docs, book chapters that helps other save their time and avoid frustration. My first vote would be for : IOS Memory Management Guide View Controller Programming Guide Table View Guide And as a General recommendation, read the Overview section that come along with every class documention in the reference library, they contains most of what you need to know to avoid big traps !

    Hi I have a table view, and when I delete a cell I am removing an item from an NSMutableArray, archiving that array, and removing the cell. However, when I do this, it is causing the delete button to lag after I click it.   • How to repopulate DataTables when having lots of data?

    Hi I am using datatables jquery plugin. I now have to clear the entire datatable and populate it with new data on the fly(all done through ajax). So what I was thinking to do is when I need to do this. Destroy the datatable remove the data html call up the partial view that renders the table Rebind the datatable with jquery. However it seems that datatable has no destroy method. So I know you can set the datatable to do something with ajax but I am not sure how. My datatable just uses the dom way when the page is loaded. I don't want to use the "fnAddData" as I am not sure how to format this 2d array they want and I don't think this is the best option. I think the best option is some how render the partial view back and use there ajax plugin. But I am not sure where that is or how to use it(I know it exists but that's about it). Thanks

  • Java Swing architecture for flipping through JPane based views

    Hi all, I have done a couple of simple swing based apps with static layout, but now I've run into a problem while trying to create an app containing multiple views which are changed by pressing appropriate navigational button. You could compare the idea to a website so that every view has buttons to access certain other views but this would work inside a single JFrame. I've found that maybe CardLayout (Cardlayout example) might be appropriate solution for this kind of structure, but I'm unable to figure out a way to switch the views from the buttons which are inside of the JPanes that I've implemented in their separate classes, Of course one way would be to instantiate everything in the parent class like in the small java tutorial example, but this isn't quite clean nor modular for multiple views, isn't it. How can this be implemented so that I can access the view switching method?

    Is there a command or an existing script that will let me view all of a *NIX system's scheduled cron jobs at once? I'd like it to include all of the user crontabs, as well as /etc/crontab, and whatever's in /etc/cron.d. It would also be nice to see the specific commands run by run-parts in /etc/crontab. Ideally, I'd like the output in a nice column form and ordered in some meaningful way. I could then merge these listings from multiple servers to view the overall "schedule of events." I was about to write such a script myself, but if someone's already gone to the trouble...

    I had created a new table named USERLOG with two fields from a previous VIEW. The table already consist of about 9000 records. The two fields taken from the VIEW, i.e. weblog_views consist of IP (consists of IP address), and WEB_LINK (consists of URL). This is the code I used, CREATE TABLE USERLOG AS SELECT C_IP, WEB_LINK FROM weblog_views; I want to add another column to this table called the USER_ID, which would consists of a sequence starting with 1 to 9000 records to create a unique id for each existing rows. I need help with this part. I'm using Oracle SQL Developer: ODMiner version 3.0.04. I tried using the AUTO-INCREMENT option, ALTER TABLE USERLOG ADD USER_ID INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT; But I get an error with this, Error report: SQL Error: ORA-01735: invalid ALTER TABLE option 01735. 00000 - "invalid ALTER TABLE option" So, I would really appreciate any help that I can get!

  • What is the flag to show the nesting of views in a Mac app?

    I have just spet the last few hours trying to find the flag to use in Terminal to launch an app with the colored outlines around the various view elements to show how they are nested. I know that Matt Gemmell covered it during the Cocoa Face Off session of NSConference 2009 (at about the 13minute mark in the video). Unfortunately I can't actually read what he types and he doesn't speak the exact command. I know it has to be in the Apple docs somewhere but the search system is currently not being of any use. It looks like her just adds -showAllViews YES to the end of the command to open TextEdit but that command has no effect in 10.6.6. I have also tried every other capitalization I can think of as well as using view instead of views. Every command opens TextEdit just fine but doesn't show the colored outlines.

    Hello, I'm working on a school project right now. It's meant to be a 3D editing software, (like a very minimized version of Maya). I have to write it in C#, using the 'Windows Application Project'. I intend to implement all the 3D stuff myself, from projections to shading. My question is, how can I get direct access to a single pixel in the C# windows application? I know I'm going to have a main view port in the window. But I haven't decided yet how it will be made. Is there a built in object that I can use, that will let me define the boundaries of the view port, and then paint each pixel individually? (I'm just shooting in the dark here, I don't know much about C#. I mostly program in C) Thanks, Malki.

    Hello, I've got the following problem: I have two tables: (simplified) +--------+ +-----------+ | User | | Role | +--------+ +-----------+ | ID<PK> | | ID <PK> | +--------+ | Name | +-----------+ and M:N relationship between them +-------------+ | User_Role | +-------------+ | User<FK> | | Role<FK> | +-------------+ I need to create a view, which selects me: User, and in one column, all of his Roles (this is done by group_concat). I've tried following: SELECT u.*, group_concat(r.Name separator ',') as Roles FROM User u LEFT JOIN User_Role ur ON ur.User=u.ID LEFT JOIN Role r ON ur.Role=r.ID GROUP BY u.ID; However, this works for an user with some defined roles. Users without role aren't returned. How can I modify the statement, to return me User with empty string in Roles column when User doesn't have any Role? Explanation: I'm passing the SQL data directly to a grid, which then formats itself, and it is easier for me to create slow and complicated view, than to format it in my code. I'm using MySQL

  • UIActionSheet Cancel button keeps crashing my app

    I am really puzzeled by this one. I have set up two UIActionSheets in my application. They work perfectly fine until you use the cancel button in the UIActionSheets.   • Customizing TabWidget in SDK 1.5, API 3

    I'm aware that API 3 doesn't allow a view to be set for a tab, but I still need to modify the TextView displayed as the indicator. I'd also like to change the Drawable for the tab, but I don't see a way to do it without a custom tab view as allowed in 1.6, API 4. Working with this generic example below, is there way to retrieve the TextView and modify its properties or change the drawable?     Hello all, This is probably an easy one. I have about 20 TextViews/ImageViews in my current project that I access like this: ((TextView)multiLayout.findViewById(R.id.GameBoard_Multi_Answer1_Text)).setText(""); //or ((ImageView)multiLayout.findViewById(R.id.GameBoard_Multi_Answer1_Right)).setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE); My question is this, am I better off, from a performance standpoint, just assigning these object variables? Further, am I losing some performance to the constant "search" process that goes on as a part of the findViewById(...) method? (i.e. Does findsViewById(...) use some sort of hashtable/hashmap for look-ups or does it implement an iterative search over the view hierarchy?) At present, my program never uses more than 2.5MB of RAM, so will assigning 20 or so more object variables drastically affect this? I don't think so, but I figured I'd ask. Thanks.

    My view is not a strongly typed view and I need to iterate through Request Params in the controller action to determine the values posted. Is there a better way to iterate through the nameValueCollection AllKeys? I am currently looping through the Request Params and setting values appropriately. foreach (var key in Request.Params.AllKeys) { if (key.Equals("CustomerId")) queryObject.CustomerId = Request.Params[key]; else if (key.Equals("OrderId")) queryObject.OrderId= Request.Params[key]; //and so on } I see a considerable amount of repetition in this code.   • Joomla Session Variable as Plugin Parameter

    I have a Joomla plugin which takes varying parameters. I need to retrieve one of these parameters from the current session. I've tried using Jumi and a little PHP snipped to retrieve the value and output it in the plugin's parameter list, but the Joomla plugin parser only handles the outter-most set of curly braces. ex. {fabrik view=table id=62 resetfilters=1 fab_tours_ro___tour_id=[tour_id]} [tour_id] I need to retrieve from the current session. I've tried {fabrik view=table id=62 resetfilters=1 fab_tours_ro___tour_id={jumi [scripts/get_tour_id.php]}} In that case the {jumi} tag never gets parsed. I could hack the {fabrik} plugin, but I'd prefer to do this without making any core or component changes, especially since I update Fabrik quite regularly via svn.

  • 3D Camera looking at arbitrary point, but never rolling to do so

    (In C#/XNA 4.0) I have Vector3 cameraPosition, Vector3 targetPosition I want to have my camera look at the target, always 'facing' it, but never rolling So roll always is neutral, to view the target the camera always either adjusts pitch or yaw I've tried countless combinations of methods and information I find here and on the web but I haven't found anything that works properly. I think my issue may be my 'Up' vector (which I've tried .Up, 1,0,0, 0,1,0, 0,0,1) When I move my camera I do: CameraPosition += moveSpeed * vectorToAdd; UpdateViewMatrix(); UpdateViewMatrix() is.. well, I've tried everything I have seen. At most simple... View = Matrix.CreateLookAt(CameraPosition, targetPosition, upVector); Where upVector has been Vector3.Up, 1, 0, 0; 0, 1, 0; 0, 0, 1, or other more 'proper' attempts to get my actual up vector. This sounds like it's probably my problem.. This should be dead simple, help!

I don't have experience with Rails style frameworks, like Grails, but I worked a lot with Hibernate, Struts, Spring ... I prefer a framework that let you naturally modify the business domain design with the less effort ( i.e. writing the sql querys to modify the tables and constrains, change the view pages, etc ... ). Why? Is it possible? How?
