• Unable to get nodeValue using DOMDocument class in PHP

  I am Parsing a HTML document using DOMDocument Class in PHP, i wanted to get the nodeValue of a div element, but it is giving me null, <div id="summary"> Hi, my name is <span>ABC</span> <br/> address is here at stackoverflow... <span>.... .... <div> want to get the value inside the div, and the code i wrote wass $div_node=$dom->getElementById("summary"); $node_value=$div_node->nodeValue; but it is giving me a null value, please help.

  Hello, I'm thinking of writing a book about Rails 3 and I have a basic idea of what I want to write about, but really what I need is that little bit of polish from the community. The book is planned to cover: A little bit of Ruby Version control using Git Testing using RSpec & Cucumber Life without Rails (Rack) Developing an application in Rails (vague, I know, sorry! Work in progress) Javascript testing using Selenium Background processing Document databases (a tentative maybe, at this stage) Monitoring an application And a little more. So, I leave this question for you: What do you want to see in a book about Rails 3, which goes from "This is Rails" to "This is how Rails scales"?

• Invisible Delimiter for Strings in HTML

  I need a way to identify certain strings in HTML markup. I know what the strings are, but it is possible that they could be substrings of other strings in the document. To find them, I output a special delimiter character (currently using \032). On page load, we go through the HTML and record the location of the strings, and remove the delimiter. Unfortunately, most browsers show the delimiter character until we can find and remove them all. I'd like to avoid that if possible. Is there a character or string that will be preserved in the HTML content (so a comment wont work) but wont be visible to the user? It also needs to be something that is fairly unlikely to appear next to a string, so something like &nbsp; wouldn't work either. EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to mention that the strings will be in attributes, so any sort of tag wont work.

• My image does not load on a jQuery fade in effect even though the div loads.

When using animate(), the image in the div tag fades in fine. However, when I use show(), the div loads because I can click in that area, but the image itself doesn't load. Why is this happening? I have another area of the code where I click on an 'x' in the image and it fades out using hide(). This works fine.

  Hi, so I want to do something like when you press on LogOut, you get a waiting message like "please wait.." while its running ucp.php?mode=logout in the background, and after it has loaded that it should refresh the site. How should this be done??   Quoting from the CouchDB documentation: It is recommended that you avoid POST when possible, because proxies and other network intermediaries will occasionally resend POST requests, which can result in duplicate document creation. To my understanding, this should not be happening on the protocol level (a confused user armed with a doubleclick is a completely different story). What is the best course of action, then? Should we really try to avoid POST requests and replace them by PUT? I don't like that as they convey a different meaning. Should we anticipate this and protect the requests by unique IDs where we want to avoid accidental duplication? I don't like that either: it complicates the code and prevents situations where multiple identical posts may be desired.

But my problem is, my page has multiple link_button and blueflip div's all over the page. when i click any one of link_button all of the blueflip div's are toggling. • How to run lengthy tasks from an ASP.NET page?

  I've got an ASP.NET page with a simple form. The user fills out the form with some details, uploads a document, and some processing of the file then needs to happens on the server side. My question is - what's the best approach to handling the server side processing of the files? The processing involves calling an exe. Should I use seperate threads for this? Ideally I want the user to submit the form without the web page just hanging there while the processing takes place. But, the problem occurs when I try to find the newly added script. • RadioButtonList javascript firing twice

  I'm using Latex and the listings package to display some C++ code (with syntax highlighting) inside a document. I need to highlight some parts of the code. This specific highlight has nothing to do with syntax highlighting, it's just some parts of the code I'd like to highlight so that the reader can focus on it. I wish I could make some variable name, for instance, displaying in bold, and on a yellow background. • How do I manage permissions on multiple items in SharePoint 2007?

  I'm relatively new to SharePoint and am trying to put a bunch of Word files (that were on our network file server) into SharePoint. We have set up a document library that, by default, gives everyone access to everything. This is the desired top-level permission set because most items will work well this way. The problem is that I have a bunch of documents I want to add and apply some specific permissions to. I can do this, but...please tell me there is some way I can do this for multiple documents at the same time. Attempting to do this one-by-one is a pain and I'm hoping for a better solution here. I was trying to use .hide() and .show() instead of .remove() but it doesn't seem to work on IE6 at least.

• Methods for making R plots look like Excel plots?

  I've been poking around with R graphical parameters trying to make my plots look a little more professional (e.g., las=1, bty="n" usually help). But not quite there. Started playing with tikzDevice. A huge improvement! Amazing how much better things look when the font sizes and styles in the figure match those of the surrounding document. Still, not quite there. What I'm ultimately looking for are those professional gradient shading, rounded corners, and shadow effects found in MS Excel plots. I know they're probably considered chart junk, but I like them. They're just nice looking. Q: How can I get these effects into my R plots? Do people usually just export to Inkscape and doodle over there? It would be nice if there were a literate programming approach. Is there an R package that handles these effects outright?
