• Submit HTML form with GET method with full action path

  Hello. I am trying to submit a form with method GET and action "index.php?id=3". The problem is that it jumps to the url specified but it cuts off "?id=3" part. I need that so I can identify an user. Any ideas on how I could submit the whole url ? I don't want to change this method, by design is much complex than I told you here. It's a simple version. Any ideas ? Thanks.

• Using LLBL as Model in MVC

  I have settled on trying to use ASP.NET MVC but the first part I want to replace is the Model. I am using LLBL Pro for the model. I have a table called "Groups" that is a simple look up table. I want to take thhe results of the table and populate a list in MVC. Something that should be very simple... or so I thought.... I've tried all kinds of things as I was getting errors like: The model item passed into the dictionary is of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List1[glossary.EntityClasses.GroupEntity]', but this dictionary requires a model item of type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable1[glossary.CollectionClasses.GroupCollection]'. private GroupCollection gc = new GroupCollection(); public ActionResult Index() { gc.GetMulti(null); return View( gc.?????? ); } This is all I am trying to do, I've tried lots of variations, but my goal is simply to take the data and display it.

• iPad/iPhone HTML5 video loading

  I'm trying to load on the fly on the iPad/iPhone and notice that I cannot place a div above this. I put the overlay in the html so that it's generated on page load and not added via javascript and the video when its created is absolutely positioned below this element. This works on a PC, I'm wondering if since it was created via js that the iPhone OS is overriding the z-index and forcing to the top? Also is there a way to override the default "cannot play icon", the one with the slash, and show a loading animation instead? This would solve my issue via another route. My last option would be to loaded all the video tags via js on page load and have them layered on top of each other for the iPad/iPhone? Since the iPhone OS won't load any video until requested would this work? I also am having an issue with the iPhone and showing the "poster" attribute that is set on the video tag.

  I'm trying to get the Poll tutorial working at my Dreamhost account (I don't have any prior experience of deploying Django). Am I implementing the delegate method right? (Also, I had difficulty installing the YAJL stuff for the engine, and wonder if that has something to do with it)

  I'm using jQuery to POST an Id to my route, for example: http://localhost:1234/Load/Delete with a POST Parameter Id = 1 I'm only using the default route in Global.asax.cs right now: routes.MapRoute( "Default", "{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } ); When I perform the POST, in my ActionFilter filterContext.RouteData.Values["Id"] is set to the default value of "". Ideally, I'd like it to use the POST Parameter value automatically if the URL comes up with "". I know it is posting properly because I can see the value of "1" in filterContext.HttpContext.Request.Params["Id"]. Is there a way to get RouteData to use a POST parameter as a fall back value?

• Running SQL script through psql gives syntax errors that don't occur in PgAdmin

  Hi I have the following script to create a table: -- Create State table. DROP TABLE IF EXISTS "State" CASCADE; CREATE TABLE "State" ( StateID SERIAL PRIMARY KEY NOT NULL, StateName VARCHAR(50) ); It runs fine in the query tool of PgAdmin.   Hello, I have a table called Table with columns: ID (int, primary key, clustered, unique index) TEXT (varchar 15) on a MSSQL linked server called LS. Linked server is on the same server computer. And: When I call: SELECT ID, TEXT FROM OPENQUERY(LS, 'SELECT ID, TEXT FROM Table') It takes 400 ms. When I call: SELECT ID, TEXT FROM LS.dbo.Table It takes 200 ms And when I call the query directly while being at LS server: SELECT ID, TEXT FROM dbo.Table It takes 100 ms. In many places i've read that OPENQUERY is faster, but in this simple case it does not seem to work. What can I do to make this query faster when I call it from another server, not LS directly?

• Ending a Rails 2 URL with an IP address causes routing error?

  I'm trying to construct URLs in the format http://servername/find/by/CRITERION/VALUE CRITERION is a finite set of strings, as is VALUE. Trouble is, VALUE needs to be an IP address in some situations, and it's causing me a routing error. Here's my route: map.find 'find/by/:criterion/:query', :controller => "find", :action => "by" And the error, from the Mongrel logs: Processing ApplicationController#index (for 127.0.0.1 at 2010-05-07 10:20:32) [GET] ActionController::RoutingError (No route matches "/find/by/ip/1.2.3.4" with {:method=>:get}): Rendering rescues/layout (not_found) If I visit /find/by/foo/bar or /find/by/foo/1234 I don't have problems. I suspect the problem might be Rails' inference of MIME types based on periods in the URL, but I don't really know how I can disable that. I've tried passing a :defaults = {:format = :html} to the route but that causes Mongrel to fail to start entirely. Any help appreciated!

  I have around 50-60 components and some of the fields are readonly. Now I want to set the tab index only for the fields that are read/write. Now the problem for me is, some of the components will be added according to the selection in my dropdown list box. Those components that are newly populated also contains some read only text boxes. The thing is, some of the options in the dropdown list may contain or may not contain components. • Jquery UI Slider - Input a Value and Slider Move to Location

  I was wondering if anyone has found a solution or example to actually populating the input box of a slider and having it slide to the appropriate position onBlur() .. Currently, as we all know, it just updates this value with the position you are at. So in some regards, I am trying to reverse the functionality of this amazing slider. One link I found: http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-177578.html is a bit outdated, but looks like they made an attempt. However, the links to the results do not exist. I am hoping that there may be a solution out there. I know Filament has re-engineered the slider to handle select (drop down) values, and it works flawlessly.. • Cannot use Html.ActionLink in asp.net mvc spark files

  I'm using the spark view engine with my asp.net mvc application. In my aspx pages, I can succesfully use Html.Actionlink, but when I attempt it in spark files, it doesnt show up in intellisense, and when i try to run it anyway, i get: Dynamic view compilation failed. c:\Users\midas\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\ChurchMVC\ChurchMVC\Views\Home\Index.spark(73,25): error CS1061: 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper' does not contain a definition for 'ActionLink' and no extension method 'ActionLink' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) I do have system.web.mvc referenced, and I have added in _global.spark. None of that helps. Any ideas?

• IE6 Hacks: Getting jQuery tools expose to work properly on my site

  Hi, I am trying to get the jQuery tools 'expose' function to work properly in IE6. The page is http://204.51.246.10:12123/ You will need IE6 to reproduce the bug (obviously :)). If you click 'Sign In' on the top-right corner (below the 'Join Today!' button), you will notice that the sign in panel (fieldset#login-controls) is getting covered by the background of its parent element (.signinPanel), which is very weird. It is not on the top of z-index, and I can't figure out why. Please note that in order to get fieldset#login-controls positioned correctly, I have applied the following hack for IE6: $("#header, #header div, #header table, #header td, #header tr").css("position", "static"); $("fieldset#login-controls *").css("position", "static"); This might be the reason for the above. What’s an efficient way to do this without running a separate query for each post?

• Cfsearch in combination of documents and indexed query data?

  hi! I have an application which stores all kind of data about people. The current cfsearch functionality (in Verity) includes searching documents that are attached to these people. If i have 2 documents attached to 1 person, 1 with say ABC in it and the other with XYZ in it, my ideal searchresult for "ABC AND XYZ" would return the 1 person. But as both 'words' are indexed in different documents, the standard behaviour is not to return any result from the cfsearch, because the combination doesnt exist in any of the 2 documents. Is there any way to combine indexed documents and/or query data in a way that the search is executed in the combination of relevant docs and data? In my application that would mean that i could index all documents and data regarding people and have an intelligent 'global' search to find the right person. any pointers and help very much appreciated! (should Solr offer new possibilities in comparison to Verity, no problem!) thanks! Bart

• RenderAction not finding action method in current controller in current area

  I'm creating an ASP.NET MVC 2 (RTM) project that uses areas. The Index action of the Home controller of one area needs to use RenderAction to generate a sub-section of the page. The action called is also defined in the same Home controller. So the call should just be: <% Html.RenderAction("List") %> However, I get an exception: A public action method 'List' was not found on controller 'RareBridge.Web.Areas.Events.Controllers.HomeController'. Note that I'm not in the "Events" area! I'm in a completely different area. If I remove the "Events" home controller, then the exception still occurs but names a different controller (still not the one I want it to call). I've also tried providing the controller name and area to the RenderAction method, but the same exception occurs. What is going on here? BTW: I am using Autofac as my IoC container

• Avoid implicit conversion from date to timestamp for selects with Oracle 11g using Hibernate

  I'm using Hibernate 3.2.1 criteria queries to select rows from an Oracle 11g database, filtering by a timestamp field. The field in question is of type java.util.Date in Java, and DATE in Oracle. It turns out that the field gets mapped to java.sql.Timestamp, and Oracle converts all rows to TIMESTAMP before comparing to the passed in value, bypassing the index and thereby ruining performance. One solution would be to use Hibernate's sqlRestriction() along with Oracle's TO_DATE function. That would fix performance, but requires rewriting the application code (lots of queries). So is there a more elegant solution? Since Hibernate already does type mapping, could it be configured to do the right thing?
