• Single SignOn - Best practice

  Hi Guys, I need to build a scalable single sign-on mechanism for multiple sites. Scenario: Central web application to register/manage account (Server in Europe) Several web applications that need to authenticate against my user database (Servers in US/Europe/Pacific region) I am using MySQL as database backend. The options I came up with are either replicating the user database across all servers (data security?) or allowing the servers to directly connect to my MySQL instance by explicitly allowing connections from their IPs in my.cnf (high load? single point of failure?). What would be the best way to provide a scalable and low-latency single sign-on for all web applications? In terms of data security would it be a good idea to replicate the user database across all web applications? Note: All web applications provide an API which users can use to embed widgets into their own websites. These widgets work through a token auth mechanism which will again need to authenticate against my user database.

• Concatenating databases with Squeryl

  I'm trying to use Squeryl to take the contents of a table from one database, and append it to the equivalent table in another database. The primary key will have to be reassigned in the process, but I'm getting the error NULL not allowed for column "SIMID".   I have developed a xpcom component using c++. I have GetHWND() method in my component. I have also developed another xpcom component using javascript. I want to make use of GetHWND function in javascript xpcom component. • 405: Method Not Allowed WCF

  I can perfectly call a WCF web method from localhost. I published to this server: http://luiscarlosch.com/WebFormClean.aspx (only firefox or chrome) with the Visual Studio publishing tool and it works fine. The problem is when a try to access it from another computer. I get the 405: Method Not Allowed. But It doest make sense because It works fine when i access it remotely from the publisher computer as I said. Any idea? • rsync over ssh is not working anymore, while ssh itself is working fine (Write failed: broken pipe)

  This issue started happening after i changed router. This is the scenario: Windows7 Host Ubuntu 10.04 Guest (VirtualBox) Ubuntu 10.04 remote server What i used to do is run a very basic rsync command: rsync -avz --delete /local/path/ username@host:/path/to/remote/directory This worked perfect until i did change adsl provider, and i changed router aswell: now, this happens: rsync on Ubuntu Guest is not working anymore (to any random server), if using this new router rsync on Ubuntu Guest is WORKING, if i switch back to old router i tried a new virtual box ubuntu install, and the command is WORKING with both the routers So, the not-working-combo is oldUbuntu + newRouter. To get things worst, i can state that (on the not-working ubuntu) i ping the remote host plain ssh connection to the remote host is working fine (i can auth, connect, and do stuff on the remote host) Custom attributes validation Next thing custom attributes validation ( All those error are when I use Ajax for on normal form validation is working without problem. ): CompareTo - Simple compare to that is done in mvc template for account model ( class attribute saying with two property will be compared ) , and it wasn’t show on page. To do it I created own CachingRulesProvider with compareRule and my Attribute. Maybe there is more easy way to do it? StringLenght with minimum and maximum value, I won’t describe how I done it but is there any easy whey to do it? Validation summary When I have two two control on page all summary validation information goes to first control validation summary element, even xval generated script say that elementID are different for summary. Any one know how to repair it? Validation Information Is there any option to turn on messages on place where is Html.ValidationMessageFor(model = model.ConfirmPassword). Becsoue for me it isn’t show up. I would like to have summary and near field information too not only red border. Any one know how to do it?   We are trying to shape up an old, 2 tier, Delphi based application. It originally uses database authentication, we'd like to transform the db user accounts to global users, so an OID server could perform the authentication instead of the database. The Delphi program can no longer log into the database if the account is a global user. I'm trying to understand the login protocol, so far without results. Similar thing happens with SQLDeveloper, I can't connect as a global user. SQLPlus however works with both kinds of users. We checked the information flow with Wireshark. When the dbserver asks back for a password, the SQLPlus sends it, while the SQLDeveloper doesn't send a password when attempting to connect as a global user. The client sends the application name too in the login request. Is it possible that we have to store the client app name in the LDAP itself?

  Is there any way to create a custom capistrano task for performing other actions on a scm repository? For instance, I would like to create a task that will checkout a particular folder from my repository and then symlink it into the shared/ directory of the main project on my server. I know this can be done by creating a task and explicity defining the "svn co ..." command along with the scm username, password, and repository location. But this would display the password in plain text. Are there any built-in capistrano variables/methods that would help in this process?

  I've been trying to diagnose this for some time, and unfortunately Im still getting the dreaded anonymous logon issue when trying to connect to a sql db as a domain user. Steps taken: App Pool created with delegation service acct Site / Virtual dir running with Integrated Windows auth only Made sure site itself can use kerberos KB 215383 Service acct added to IIS_WPG group Service acct added to "act as part of operating system" under Local Security settings Service acct added to Log on as service under Local Security Settings HTTP SPN set for web address + service account (and FQDN) MSSQLSvc SPN set for sql box and domain acct sql is running as Trust for delegation turned on service acct, specified services, and sql service acct After all this, Im still getting the exact same error from when I started. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. This has advanced my balding by at least 5 years so far. I would greatly appreciate any additional tips on diagnosing or setting up.

  I would like to implement a 'Send Feedback' option in a Java desktop application. One which will pop up a box for the user to enter a comment, then send it to us along with a screenshot of the application window. How would be the best way to communicate the data to us? Two obvious solutions spring to mind: Email - I'm thinking that the application would connect to an SMTP server set-up by us, with the username/password somehow hidden in the code. SMTP over SSL for security (not of the data being sent, but of the SMTP username/password). Web service - pretty self explanatory. Which of these would be best, or is there a better alternative?

  At work, i'm a trainer. I'm setting up lessons to teach people how to "do stuff" without a mouse... Ever seen people click "login" textbox, type, take the mouse, click "password", type their password, then take the mouse again to click the "connect" button beneath ? So i'll teach them how to do all that without a mouse (among many other things, of course) At the end of the course, i'll make them pass a sort of exam. So i'm building a little wizard based app in which i present some simili-real-life examples of forms to fill in, but i want to disable their mouse programatically while they do this test. However, further in the wizard, i'll have to let them use their mouse again. Is there a -- possibly easy -- way to just disable the mouse for a while, and re-enable it later on? I'm on C# 2.0, programming under VC# 2k5, if that matters
