• Howto obtain Per-Interface statistics on windows

  I am trying to find the most used Network card on windows 200 or XP. I planned to obtain the number of packets sent trough each NIC to determine the main NIC. I thought IP Helper might give me this information but also it looks like the functions in IP helper only give stats for all interfaces. I know this can be done. Any ideas? Many Thanks...

• Classes. Whats the point?

  I'm fairly new to OOP in PHP, I've made a couple of basic scripts but nothing impressive. All I've really taken from it is that it would probably be easier just make a collection of functions and include them. The structure of classes seems to just confuse what was otherwise a simple process. And in collating everything into a class it doesn't really add any functionality. So I'm clearly missing something. • What does (void**) mean in C?

  I would look this up, but honestly I wouldn't know where to start because I don't know what it is called. I've seen variables passed to functions like this: myFunction((void**)&variable); Which confuses the heck out of me cause all of those look familiar to me; I've just never seen them put together like that before. • Linux configurations that would affect Java memory usage?

  Hi, Background: I have a set of java background workers I start as part of my webapp. I develop locally on Ubuntu 10.10 and deploy to an Ubuntu 10.04LTS server (a media temple (ve) instance). They're both running the same JVM: Sun JVM 1.6.0_22-b04. As part of the initialization script each worker is started with explicit Xmx, Xms, and XX:MaxPermGen settings. Yet somehow locally all 10 workers use 250MB, while on the server they use more than 2.7GB. I don't know how to begin to track this down. I thought the Ubuntu (and thus, kernel) version might make a difference, but I tried an old 10.04 VM and it behaves as expected. I've noticed that the machine does not seem to ever use memory for buffer or cache (according to htop), which seems a bit strange, but perhaps normal for a server? In fact, the question now is why, if I add up the virtual memory usage on the server (3.2GB) does it more closely reflect 2.4GB of memory used (according to free), yet locally the virtual memory used adds up to a much more substantial 4.7GB but only actually uses ~250MB. • Replace an Array with an Array

  I have and NSMutableArray and I want to replace it with another, but if I try to do it like this... firstArray = secondArray; ...then it seems to erase the entire firstArray and I get this error message.. Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '*** -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (0) beyond bounds (0)' ...and the bounds should be (6) not (0). Is there a correct way to replace the array? PS: I already checked the secondArray and it functions fine.

  We're seeing lots of virtual memory fragmentation and out of memory errors and then it hits the 3GB limit. The compilation debug is set to true in the web.config but I get different answers from everyone i ask, does debug set to true cause each aspx to compile into random areas of ram thus fragmenting that ram and eventually causing out of memory problems?

• Accessing PCI Device from user space programs

  I have a device which would be interface with my processor through pcie. I have written driver for it using the existing pci file operations. Now my problem is how do I access it from user space programs? PCI File operations do not have IOCTL support and hence I cant make an ioctl call unlike other char devices. I cannot use pci_config_read_byte etc. functions as they are meant for kernel space(included in linux/pci.h).

  I realize standard C++ only picks functions by argument type, not return type. I.e I can do something like: void func(int); void func(double); but not double func(); int func(); Where in the former, it's clear, in the latter, it's ambigious.
