• My IIS server won't serve SSL sites to some browsers

I've got an IIS 6.0 server that won't serve pages over SSL to some browsers. In Webkit-based browsers on OS X 10.6, I can't load pages at all. In MSIE 8 on Windows XP SP3, I can load pages, but it will sometimes hang downloading images or sending POSTs. Working: Firefox 3.6 (OS X + Windows) Chrome (Windows) Partially Working: MSIE 8 (works sometimes, but hangs up, especially on POSTs) Not Working: Chrome 5 (OS X) Safari 5 (OS X) Mobile Safari (iOS 4) On OS X (the easiest platform for me to test on), Chrome and Firefox both negotiate the same TLS Cipher, but Chrome hangs on or after the post-negotiation handshake. • Running a small IPTV station

  I'm looking to run an iptv station for my dorm. I know I can serve multicast so that's not a problem. The station will serve out podcasts and other cc licensed content. The target endpoint is xbmc- a media center. So far I know that I need to serve an rtp stream over udp that's streaming an mpeg-4 avc main or high profile with aac ( or ac3 ?) audio. I've had some luck using vlc with vlm to stream but it seems limited. What are my other options?  Everything has to run on Linux- hopefully open source. How can I use playlists and not live streams? What are my software options?

  Since our network discovery takes too long I tried to split the biggest job into two parts. The two parts use the same Perl script but have a different scope. I copied a Job (Agent) doing the following: Copied the .agnt file Copied the associated perl script The problem is that one or the other job (changes randomly) does not run. The Disco Process will fail eventually.   We run Ubuntu Lucid 10.0.4 as the foundation of our LAMP environment. We are trying to become PCI compliant so that we can pass CC info through our server. We have run some third-party scans on our servers to begin the certification process and have run into errors regarding PHP 5 versions and Apache versions. The latest PHP version hosted in our official lucid repository is about 10 versions lower than what PCI compliance requires. How do we upgrade to stay current with PCI compliance requirements? We need to get from php 5.3.2 to php 5.3.15 As well as up to apache 2.2.23 I've searched far and wide for an answer and haven't come up with a realistic answer. Some recommend compiling manually - which sounds like a nightmare, and others recommend a PPA - which sounds insecure. What should we do?

• How to install compiler and binutils on FreeNAS?

  I'd like to run a backup tool, duplicity, that apparently requires a cc compiler and binutils. I'm able to locate and install the required BSD packages for python, gcc, and dependencies from ftp2.freebsd.org. However, I can't find binutils. How are binutils installed on a system like FreeNAS? I'm working with FreeNAS 0.70 (based on FreeBSD 7.2). I see several packages with binutils in the name, but it's not clear any of them are for my i386 platform. e.g. I see i386-rtems-binutils-2.19.1, but I can't find any info that suggests this is correct for my platform. Google results mention it's for realtime systems.

• How do you change your Airport or Ethernet MAC address in Mac OS X 10.6?

  I have a MacBook Pro and would like to set a custom MAC address for either my Airport WiFi card, or Ethernet port. In older versions of Mac OS X, you could do it like this: $ sudo ifconfig en0 ether 00:11:22:33:44:55 // Ethernet $ sudo ifconfig en1 lladdr AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF // Airport For it to work on Airport, you'd have to power it on (e.g. $ sudo ifconfig en1 up), ensure it's not connected to any wireless network, and execute the command. I'm aware such a change won't propagate across reboots. Unfortunately, this doesn't work on Mac OS X 10.6.6 anymore. Apple appears to have removed the functionality (the command fails silently). Does anyone have any idea how to do it? Thanks for any help you can offer! :)

  I would like to know if using MS Exchange there is a way to run code against outbound emails. The code would need to trigger on emails sent to a specific domain, connect to a database, check for an email related to the email sent, and Carbon-copy that email to the related email. What I'm trying to do: When [email protected] gets an email, his auditor [email protected] gets CC'd. Jack is in a MSSQL DB table related to his auditor's email.   I'm trying to send an e-mail to a group of contacts in Gmail (200 recipients, no spam). Is there a way to force Gmail to send the e-mail as 200 individual e-mails, each addressed to that specific person in the list? But I'm trying to protect their privacy: Sending to a contact group puts all their e-mail addresses in the To: field. Adding their addresses to the cc: field means everyone can see all the addresses. Adding their addresses to the bcc: field means that no one sees their address (not even their own) in the to: field. That looks odd and seems like that would trigger a lot of spam filters. So how can I force Gmail to send the e-mail addressed specifically to each contact in the list?

• Export GFI MailArchiver e-mails for import into Exchange 2010 SP1 Personal Archiving

  We have an existing installation of GFI MailArchiver 5 with several databases of archives (perhaps 100-150GB). The goal is to export each user's archived e-mail and then import it into Exchange 2010 SP1 Personal Archives. GFI has a tool to do this, but it's very rudimentary and has severe, frankly unworkable, limitations. It only allows me to query based on the e-mail headers. Due to the fact that we have multiple aliases that may show in multiple headers (To:, Cc:), not to mention the fact that this won't cover a user's membership in a distribution group at a given point in time, this tool will not suffice. Another option is for me extract the e-mails from the GFI databases without using the tool, but this would require me to write my own tool to reconstruct them and I really would rather not go down that path. I feel very stuck on this issue. Has anyone here done a similar migration? How can this best be handled?

• Redirect email based on Source IP / Hostname

  So, we have a situation where we would like to be able to redirect (ignoring original destination) emails coming through out exchange server (locally sent) to a different email address. The situation is as follows: Testing a new server, this hosts a lot of our custom applications / scheduled tasks (as does the production version of this server). Instead of changing config files / parameters for these applications we'd rather leave them as they are, as we want to be as close to production as possible, however we don't want the emails go to the staff they would normally go to, we'd rather they were sent to a test email address where we are able to confirm the results. The emails look exactly like the production emails (same from / to / cc / bcc) except their source, hence why we'd like to know if the ability to redirect based on hostname exists. Cheers.

• Gathering IP's from a complicated log

  I have a question regarding the use of some more advanced grep, awk, sed. I have a log file, for a proprietary MTA, that contains IP's in a string, delimited by [redacted]^~x.x.x.x^[redacted]. So far all of my grepping, awking, and sedding hasn't gotten me very far. This log file has 331520 lines in it. My goal was to simply grep out the ip's, then do a for loop with sed, to sed 's/$i/redacted'. I'm including a sample of one of the log entries. If you all have any idea, I would be greatly appreciative. • Trouble joining Windows Server 2008 to Domain

  When I try to join my new server to my existing domain I get the following error: "An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a DC in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resove DNS names in the target domain." I have tried all of the following already: Successfully pinged the domain controller. Ping the new server from the domain controller by IP address and by DNS name. Ping the DC server from the new server by IP address and by DNS name. Changed the network to DHCP (it was originally static). No joy as static or DHCP. Turned off all firewall settings. Added the domain name to 'hosts' file. Added the server name of the primary domain controller to the 'hosts' file in the new server. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help! Jim Update: With help from J. Brian Kelly (Thanks) I have managed to narrow down the problem to a DNS issue. Specifically, UDP/53 packets are being sent (they are seen in Network Monitor), but are not getting to the DNS server.   My system is CentOS 6.3, openldap is configured well, PAM authorization works fine. But after turning pam_check_host_attr to yes, all LDAP-auths fail with message "Access denied for this host". hostname on the server returns correct value, the same value is listed in user's profile. • Non-Registry Fix for Secondary Mailboxes Sent Items

  There is a known issue with Outlook and Exchange where "secondary" mailboxes which are mounted in the same profile, e.g. "John Doe" + CorpMailbox1, CorpMailbox2, CorpMailbox3 will place "sent items" from the secondary mailboxes (e.g. CorpMailbox1) in the user's (e.g. "John Doe") Sent Items folder. There is a registry value (something like DelegateSentItems) to semi-fix this, but I'm looking for an Exchange-side solution. It seems like, at some point, an admin made CC rules to fix this, and for the mailboxes where I see a BCC rule: any item sent to [address] BCC to [address]. The behavior "fixes" the issue, but when I duplicate this work-around for new shared mailboxes, the email ends up in the Inbox and not the Sent Items for the shared mailbox. I don't believe there is any outlook/client-side shenanigans going on, as the intended behavior for the older mailboxes works for new PCs/Users (new imagse) without any Outlook Mailbox Rules.

• HP LaserJet 1320 printing black boxes instead of text

  I have an HP LaserJet 1320, running off of the HP PCL5 64-bit Universal Driver (Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit). When printing, anything other than body text is blacked out. I.e. on an email, where the 'To...', 'From...', 'CC...' and 'Subect' are usually shown at the top, there is just a black box. And on Word documents, anything to do with Track Changes is also blacked out. I have tried restarting the Print Spooler, and reinstalling the printer, but this does not help. Does anybody know why this is happening?
