  • Photoshop CS4. How do I make sure my color stays the same in my different .psd files? (could be RGB

    I asked 2 photoshop experts I know but they haven't got a clue because all my settings are exactly the same, in both files. (except the RGB type !! I'm not sure. Please read on) I use RGB color, 72DPI, 8 bits / channel. No adjustments (filters, like greyscale, etc ...) are selected / used. The layers are both normal, and opacity and fill are 100% (yes, in both files). I took two screenshots, and you can see the difference: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30465871@N05/4623864297/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30465871@N05/4624469754/ Both colors are ff795d, but that doesn't matter, any color I use gives me the same problem: they both look different. Now, I know the CMYK settings (see screenshots) are different, but when the settings are the same the color changes. Why is this happening and how do I solve this problem? My guess is I'm working with different a type of RGB. It's sRGB IE61966 - 2.1 in the file I created (file info raw data) but I can't find that in the file that started with a screenshot. If that's the problem, how do I change / convert the RGB, once the file is already open? Thank you.

    Hi all, I am developing an iPad application in which I need a table view ( style grouped ) having background color as clearColor. My problem is [self.tableView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor clearColor]]; works well if the table view style is plain but when I switch to group table view the background color does not changes it stays gray in color.   • SharePoint 2010 – Central Admin tooling to create host header site collections

    Just like SharePoint 2007, you can create host-header based site collections in SharePoint 2010 as well. It means, that you do not necessarily need to create a site-collection under a managed path like /sites/, you can create multiple root-level site collections on same web-application/port by using host-header site collections. All you need to do is point your domain or sub-domain to your web-application and create a matching site-collection that you want. But, just like in 2007, it is something that you do by using STSADM, and is not available on Central Admin UI in 2010 as well. I used PowerShell initially, but then got interested to build my own UI on Central Admin instead. Developed with Visual Studio 2010 So I used new Visual Studio 2010 tooling to create an empty SharePoint 2010 project. Added an application page (there is no option to add _Admin page item in VS 2010 RC), that got created in Layouts “mapped” folder. Created a new Admin mapped folder for 14-“hive”, and moved my new page there instead. Yes, I didn’t change the base class for page, its just that it runs under _admin, but it is indeed a LayoutsPageBase inherited page.     A client has a Canon iRunner210S and is complaining about slow print speeds. I've searched for a install manual online but came up empty. A call to Canon technical referred me to their dealer network for service, as as informing me that there isn't a manual available on their website. Anyone know how to install these and/or have a link to a manual? The current setup has the printers on a LAN Manager printer port instead of on straight IP ports. Is this normal for this printer? And what exactly are Lan Manager ports (based on my research, they appear to be a way to authenticate a connection)?

  • How To Personalize the Windows Command Prompt

    Command line interfaces can be downright boring, and always seem to miss out on the fresh coats of paint liberally applied to the rest of Windows.  Here’s how to add a splash of color to Command Prompt and make it unique. By default, Windows Command Prompt is white text on a black background. It get’s the job done, but maybe you want to add some color to it.   To get an overview of what we can do with the color command, let’s enter: color /? So, to get the color you want, enter color then the option for the background color followed by the font color.  For example, let’s make an old-fashioned green on black look by entering: color 02   There are a bunch of different combinations you can do, like this black background with red text. color 04 You can’t mess it up too much.  The color command won’t let you set both the font and the background to the same color, which would make it unreadable.  Also, if you want to get back to the default settings, just enter: color Now we’re back to plain-old black and white. Personalize Command Prompt Without Commands If you’d prefer to change the color without entering commands, just click on the Command Prompt icon in the top left corner of the window and select Properties. Select the Colors tab, and then choose the color you want for the screen text and background.  You can also enter your own RGB color combination if you want.   Here we entered the RGB values to get a purple background color like Ubuntu 10.04. Back in the Properties dialog, you can also change your Command Prompt font from the font tab.  Choose any font you want, as long as the one you want is one of the three listed here. Customizations you make via the Properties dialog are saved and will be used any time you open Command Prompt, but any customizations you make with the Color command are only for that session.   • Creating Visual Studio projects that only contain static files

    Have you ever wanted to create a Visual Studio project that only contained static files and didn’t contain any code? While working on ASP.NET MVC we had a need for exactly this type of project. Most of the projects in the ASP.NET MVC solution contain code, such as managed code (C#), unit test libraries (C#), and Script# code for generating our JavaScript code. However, one of the projects, MvcFuturesFiles, contains no code at all. It only contains static files that get copied to the build output folder: As you may well know, adding static files to an existing Visual Studio project is easy. Just add the file to the project and in the property grid set its Build Action to “Content” and the Copy to Output Directory to “Copy if newer.” This works great if you have just a few static files that go along with other code that gets compiled into an executable (EXE, DLL, etc.). But this solution does not work well if the projects only contains static files and has no compiled code. If you create a new project in Visual Studio and add static files to it you’ll still get an EXE or DLL copied to the output folder, despite not having any actual code. We wanted to avoid having a teeny little DLL generated in the output folder. In ASP.NET MVC 2 we came up with a simple solution to this problem. We started out with a regular C# Class Library project but then edited the project file to alter how it gets built. The critical part to get this to work is to define the MSBuild targets for Build, Clean, and Rebuild to perform custom tasks instead of running the compiler. The Build, Clean, and Rebuild targets are the three main targets that Visual Studio requires in every project so that the normal UI functions properly. If they are not defined then running certain commands in Visual Studio’s Build menu will cause errors.   • Server 2008 R2 How to Change Windows 7 Basic Theme Color

    We're deploying thin clients connecting to a terminal server farm. The computers have high visibility to the public and I would like them to at least look presentable and not like something out of 1995. So I installed the Desktop Experience feature and enabled the Theme service. The server will not support Aero because it has no 3D graphics, but we can enable the Windows 7 Basic theme, which has the Aero look without the 3D effects. The problem with that theme is that you can select any window color you want, as long as it's baby boy blue. Is there a way to make those windows another color? The window color controls do nothing.

  • Maintaining packages with code - Adding a property expression programmatically

    Every now and then I've come across scenarios where I need to update a lot of packages all in the same way. The usual scenario revolves around a group of packages all having been built off the same package template, and something needs to updated to keep up with new requirements, a new logging standard for example.You'd probably start by updating your template package, but then you need to address all your existing packages. Often this can run into the hundreds of packages and clearly that's not a job anyone wants to do by hand. I normally solve the problem by writing a simple console application that looks for files and patches any package it finds, and it is an example of this I'd thought I'd tidy up a bit and publish here. This sample will look at the package and find any top level Execute SQL Tasks, and change the SQL Statement property to use an expression. It is very simplistic working on top level tasks only, so nothing inside a Sequence Container or Loop will be checked but obviously the code could be extended for this if required.   • Motorola SBG6850 / Linksys WRT54G network problem

    I am trying to resolve issues with connecting my desktop and LAN capable printer to my network. I recently upgrade to the Motorola Cable Modem Gateway SBG6580 and have TWC coming into it, this works great for wired and wireless connectivity. Although, I am unable to connect to my device from this modem gateway. So, I am trying to cable a Linksys WRT54G (firmware 4.21.4 build 0) to the backside of the SBG6850 so I can use my printer on my network from both my wired desktop and wireless devices. I am pulling wireless off of the SBG6580 and do not want to change this. I have disable the wireless feature on the Linksys WRT54G at this moment. Can someone please help me through this dilemma? I am open to both wired and wireless solutions, but please tell me which approach your sharing in the first line of your response. Cheers!

  • HP F2180 driver installation fails on 64-bit Windows 7

    Hello; I am trying to install the HP Deskjet AIO (non-network) driver on my machine, which is running the 64-bit version of Windows 7. Before installing it, Windows detected my printer just fine... But I wanted to use the HP scanning application, because tt allows me to scan several photos at once. I ran the DJ_AIO_NonNetwork_ENU_NB file I got from their site, and the installation went almost without a problem... However, at the part where it should have detected the printer, it didn't, so I skipped it - telling the installer I'll connect the printer later. After it was finished I was able to use it regularly, and also scan using the wanted HP application. However, the installer kept popping at random intervals, and giving me an error message. Yesterday I tried removing all the installed HP Applications, and installing from scratch. Running the same installer setup, it now insists that it does not support my operating system, and that 64-bit Vista is the highest it can go... I just don't understand why this is occuring all of the sudden. Has anybody here successfully installed the AIO driver on the 64-bit version of Windows 7? UPDATE: Been chatting with HP chat support over the weekend. Managed to really mess up my windows. At first, they told me to uninstall using an "unintall_l3" batch file inside their installer package, and then reinstall. Didn't work. Also the "l4" batch didn't make any difference. Afterwards I was told to install "Windows install clean up" and remove many hp entries (most of which were not listed on my computer), and I also removed many other hp entries I bumped upon. Then my office 2k7 started failing. I searched around the web, and ran Security Restore, so now my office works, but my windows explorer is all buggy - can't seem to open windows explorer - it hangs while trying to load my hard drives, or completely ignores them and just shows my libraries. Anyone here has any idea how I can restore my win7 to normal, with or without the annoying scanner? UPDATE 2: Ok - explorer back to normal. I guess I just had to wait until it finishes searching while opening the windows explorer for the first time after the Security Restore. Scanner still not working though.

    There is a (not so) particular kind of shape in Orchard: zones. Functionally, zones are places where other shapes can render. There are top-level zones, the ones defined on Layout, where widgets typically go, and there are local zones that can be defined anywhere. These local zones are what you target in placement.info. Creating a zone is easy because it really is just an empty shape. In the Layout template where we are working, the Model is the Layout shape itself, so Model.Header is really creating a new Header shape under Layout, or getting a reference to it if it already exists. The Zone function is then called on that object, which is equivalent to calling Display. In other words, you could have just written the following to get the exact same effect: @Display(Model.Header) The Zone helper function only exists to make the intent very explicit. Now here's something interesting: while this works in the Layout template, you can also make it work from any deeper-nested template and still create top-level zones. The difference is that wherever you are, Model is not the layout anymore so you need to access it in a different way: @Display(WorkContext.Layout.Header) This is still doing the exact same thing as above. For example, in Content.cshtml, you can find our good old code fro creating a header zone: @Display(Model.Header) The difference here is that Model is no longer the Layout shape, so that zone will be local. The name of that local zone is what you specify in placement.info, for example: <Place Parts_Common_Metadata_Summary="Header:1"/> Now here's the really interesting part: zones do not even know that they are zones, and in fact any shape can be substituted. That means that if you want to add new shapes to the shape that some part has been emitting from its driver for example, you can absolutely do that. And because zones are so barebones as shapes go, they can be created the first time they are accessed. This is what enables us to add shapes into a zone before the code that you would think creates it has even run. For example, in the Layout.cshtml template in TheThemeMachine, the BadgeOfHonor shape is being injected into the Footer zone on line 47, even though that zone will really be "created" on line 168.

  • Maintaining packages with code - Adding a property expression programmatically

    Every now and then I've come across scenarios where I need to update a lot of packages all in the same way. The usual scenario revolves around a group of packages all having been built off the same package template, and something needs to updated to keep up with new requirements, a new logging standard for example.You'd probably start by updating your template package, but then you need to address all your existing packages. Often this can run into the hundreds of packages and clearly that's not a job anyone wants to do by hand. I normally solve the problem by writing a simple console application that looks for files and patches any package it finds, and it is an example of this I'd thought I'd tidy up a bit and publish here. This sample will look at the package and find any top level Execute SQL Tasks, and change the SQL Statement property to use an expression. It is very simplistic working on top level tasks only, so nothing inside a Sequence Container or Loop will be checked but obviously the code could be extended for this if required.   • Is there a HP DeskJet 5940 maintenance tool for Windows 7 x64?

    According to HP, the printer is not yet supported on Windows 7, so this could well be the answer. The printer is supported by Microsoft's drivers, but as far as I can tell, this is just a basic driver with no frills. I need to clean and align my ink cartridges because the quality right now is terrible. I've tried installing the Vista x64 drivers, but the setup detects that I'm not running Vista and does not allow me to continue. I was hoping there is a hack for this, or something similar. If not, I'll just plug it into my Vista laptop.

    Hello, I am trying to get a Dell V105 printer to work with my iMac. It is running 10.6 and I have installed all the drivers on the Snow Leopard disk. I believe there is no official Dell driver but I have also heard the Dell printers are made by third parties that may sell the same printer under different names. There a quite a few Lexmark models that seem to look very similar and I have tried setting the driver to the 2600 series that looks very similar but that has not enabled me to print. Although it claims to give me the supply levels correctly. Can anyone help? Thanks for your time

I downloaded a css menu, and made all the modifications needed to me with no issue, but there's one thing that i'm having no luck trying to fix: When hovering over "ccc" (for example), and going down to 1 for example (this happens to all other cells) the black background doesn't extend all the way to the right.   • How to assign output bin on HP4730?

    We have an application that prints batches of invoices and when two users print same time, their jobs get interspersed because the application actually generates a separate job for each invoice. The HP4730 has a bin for phocopies/fax and the bulk bin. A proposal was to create a separate printer definition for each user, and somehow map their output to a different bin to keep their jobs "together". However, we can't see any setting to control this on the printer properties. Does anyone know if thats possible? To make it more interesting, this is within Citrix... Help!
