• Getting DateTimeOffset value form SQL 2008 to C#

  I have a SQL 2008 table with a field called RecDate of type DateTimeOffset. For a given record the value is '2010-04-01 17:19:23.62 -05:00' In C# I create a DataTable and fill it with the results of "SELECT RecDate FROM MyTable". I need to get the milliseconds, but if I do the following the milliseconds are always 0: DateTimeOffset dto = DateTimeOffset.Parse(dt.Rows[0][0].ToString()); What is the proper way to get the value in the RecDate column into the dto variable?   We have a web part on which we display some data in a grid. We are exporting grid's underlying datatable to Excel and displaying Open - Save - Cancel dialouge box on click of a server side button. Following is the code we are executing on click of server side button. this.Page.Response.Clear(); this.Page.Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=MyTasks.xls"); this.Page.Response.ContentType = "application/ms-excel"; this.Page.Response.Write("...here goes my well formated html...."); this.Page.Response.End(); Problem is that when i click on Cancel in the diaglouge box then dialogue box to Open/Save excel disappears but all the server side buttons placed on my web part becomes non responsive, on click of any of those buttons their server side click event does not get fired !!!   Hi, I am trying to create a new report using the PUSH MODEL to supply data. I am creating a DataTable in my C# code and pushing this to a report using a template. I have created a report template and an XSD (using DataSet.WriteXmlSchema) and added this to my report using the Database Expert option. I have since deleted the xsd schema but the report still seems to be working. I was wondering why this was happening. Is the xsd file stored in the report? Thanks a lot. Ravi

• DataSet binding problem

  I've got in-memory dataset with some table defined and I populate this table in a following way: for(...) ds.Fields.AddFieldsRow(++j, 0, heading, "Char", "", "", "Input", 0, "","",""); On the GUI I've got DataGridView bound to that table inside TabControl (bound through BindingSource). Very strange thing is happening: if I open tab pane with this grid and populate table with some data then I see changes in grid. On the other side if I'm at other tab, populate table, and then switch to tab with grid I've got following exception: "DataMember property 'Fields' cannot be found on the DataSource". In similar way I've got 2 tab panes with grid in each that are bound to the same datatable using different datasources and I open one of them, populate, see the changes, then switch to second tab and get crash. What am I missing?

• How SqlDataAdapter works internally?

  I wonder how SqlDataAdapter works internally, especially when using UpdateCommand for updating a huge DataTable (since it's usually a lot faster that just sending sql statements from a loop). Here is some idea I have in mind : It creates a prepared sql statement (using SqlCommand.Prepare()) with CommandText filled and sql parameters initialized with correct sql types. Then, it loops on datarows that need to be updated, and for each record, it updates parameters values, and call SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery(). It creates a bunch of SqlCommand objects with everything filled inside (CommandText and sql parameters). Several SqlCommands at once are then batched to the server (depending of UpdateBatchSize). It uses some special, low level or undocumented sql driver instructions that allow to perform an update on several rows in a effecient way (rows to update would need to be provided using a special data format and a the same sql query (UpdateCommand here) would be executed against each of these rows).

• Using stored procedures to generate RDLC report in C#

  I'm making an application that generates reports for my client. I'm using his database that contains stored procedures which return the data needed for the reports. The problem is that I don't know how to execute them from the application (more specific the TableAdapter in my dataset). When I use the visual aid to create the TableAdapter, it shows the error "Invalid object named #table1". This is weird because there is a temporary table called #table1 in the stored procedure. When I try to do the whole job programmatically, I get the exception Incorrect syntax near '.'. An object or column name is missing or empty. For SELECT INTO statements, verify each column has a name. For other statements, look for empty alias names. Aliases defined as "" or [] are not allowed. Change the alias to a valid name. I created a DataTable that has identical structure as the result of the stored procedure, but I still get the same exception

  I have a specific issue with general console printing and I was wondering whether anyone has a solution for it. In order to print the border of the bar I need to know what the maximum length of each column value is. I don't want to go through the whole database to find that out and then again to print it. System.out.printAllDeferred(); I understand the above is probably in 99.99999% chances impossible, but perhaps you guys have a clever way of achieving the above?
