• 301 redirect from HTTP to HTTPS - how to be sure Google is fetching the correct information?

    - by user33692
I'm hoping somebody might be able to provide a bit of advice on an issue I am having. I have one site where we implemented a 301 redirect on the homepage from HTTP to HTTPS. We have links on the homepage to other parts of the site that are not under SSL (in fact there is only one other page under SSL). When I go to our Webmaster Tools account I notice that we are not being provided with any webmaster information (e.g., search queries, backlinks, etc...) related to our homepage under SSL. I performed a Fetch as Google on the homepage and the information it returned is: HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently Date: Fri, 08 Nov 2013 17:26:24 GMT Server: Apache/2.2.16 (Debian) Location: https://mysite.com/ Vary: Accept-Encoding Content-Encoding: gzip Content-Length: 242 Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=100 Connection: Keep-Alive Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1

301 Moved Permanently

Moved Permanently

The document has moved here.

Apache/2.2.16 (Debian) Server at mysite.com

I am worried by the fact that Google fetch is not getting the correct Title tags and Meta information from our homepage and that this is hurting our search results. Additionally, I am worried that we need to do something specific with the sitemap to ensure that Google is correctly indexing all our pages and being able to flow from the HTTPS to the HTTP without issues. Does anybody have any advice on how we can correctly set this up or be sure that Google is fetching the correct information?

  • What is the simplest way for a slippy SVG visualization?

    - by totymedli
I have a big SVG file representing a complicated graph with hundreds of points. I want to represent this in a web page. My idea was that I could make it like Google Maps represent their maps, in those slippy, dragable, moveable maps. I'am looking for an easy and fast JavaScript library which could do the work. What I need for my "map" is the drag/move, zoom ability, and some way to click on the points of the picture, which makes a little information apear about that point, like Google maps markers. I'am looking for a free/open source library. I saw some solutions but I'am uncertain about them, and none of them seemed to be perfet: Polymaps - I love the technique it uses, but I don't know much about this library. Leaflet - I love the simplicity of it, but I dont know how could I apply it for my SVG. Raphael - I heard the awesomeness of this, but It seemed a lots of work to do this task. What would be the best/easiest solution for my problem, and what is your opinion aboute the above libraries?

  • how much is a graduate Information Technology (IT) degree worth?

    - by T. Webster
I have a bachelor's degree in IS/MIS not CS, and a few years of software development experience now. I want to pursue some sort of graduate education that will give me more career options. I was wondering if it's worth pursuing a graduate degree in Information Technology (not CS). -How much is a master's degree in Information Technology worth? By this I mean how marketable does it make you, and how valuable is the education itself. -How does its worth compare to a master's in CS? -What types of employers are looking for the IT master's degree vs. a Computer Science master's degree? -What's the most valuable thing an Information Technology degree can give, that someone wouldn't have without the degree? Thanks.

  • Where can I find SPF record information for Network Solution hosted email?

    - by Steve Brown
I have a client who has their e-mail hosted with Network Solutions and some of the e-mails they are sending are going to spam. I've searched Google for information on network solutions and SPF records but all the results have to do with "how to set up an SPF record" - which I understand how to do. The problem is that I can't find any information about what SPF records to use for network solutions hosted e-mail. I even tried lookup up spf records on networksolutions.com but it appears there are none. Where can I find SPF record information for Network Solution hosted email?

  • Is Google Analytics safe for websites that deal with sensitive information?

    - by guanome
I work for a company that writes several webapps that deal with a lot of sensitive information, such as full name, date of birth, address, and SSNs. Currently we don't have anything to measure site usage, but I would like to use Google Analytics to track usage and statistics about our users. What data is sent to Google when you use Analytics? If I put this on a page that contains any of the above information, will that data be sent to Google? Or are they just getting the necessary information like user agent and IP address?

  • MS Chart with ASP.NET chart type "column" not showing axis x label if there are more than 9 bar in t

    - by Bayonian
    Hi, I'm having problem with MS Chart chart type column. If there are only 9 bar in the chart like the following picture, then the axis-x label show up properly. However, there are more than 9 bars bar the chart, the axis-x label wont show up properly, some of them just dissappear. Here's my mark-up for the chart: <asp:Chart ID="chtNBAChampionships" runat="server"> <Series> <asp:Series Name="Championships" YValueType="Int32" Palette="Berry" ChartType="Column" ChartArea="MainChartArea" IsValueShownAsLabel="true"> <Points> <asp:DataPoint AxisLabel="Celtics" YValues="17" /> <asp:DataPoint AxisLabel="Lakers" YValues="15" /> <asp:DataPoint AxisLabel="Bulls" YValues="6" /> <asp:DataPoint AxisLabel="Spurs" YValues="4" /> <asp:DataPoint AxisLabel="76ers" YValues="3" /> <asp:DataPoint AxisLabel="Pistons" YValues="3" /> <asp:DataPoint AxisLabel="Warriors" YValues="3" /> <asp:DataPoint AxisLabel="Mara" YValues="4" /> <asp:DataPoint AxisLabel="Saza" YValues="9" /> <asp:DataPoint AxisLabel="Buha" YValues="6" /> </Points> </asp:Series> </Series> <ChartAreas> <asp:ChartArea Name="MainChartArea"> </asp:ChartArea> </ChartAreas> </asp:Chart> I don't know it works with only 9 bars? Is there any way to make the chart work properly? Also, if possible, how to make each bar have different color. Thank you.

  • C#, Lotus Interop: Getting Message Information

    - by tsilb
    I'm using Interop.Domino.dll to retrieve E-mails from a Lotus "Database" (Term used loosely). I'm having some difficulty in retrieving certain fields and wonder how to do this properly. I've been using NotesDocument.GetFirstItem to retrieve Subject, From and Body. My issues in this regard are thus: How do I retrieve Reply-To address? Is there a list of "Items" to get somewhere? I can't find it. How do I retrieve friendly names for From and Reply-To addresses? When I retrieve Body this way, it's formatted wierdly with square bracket sets ([]) interspersed randomly across the message body, and parts of the text aren't where I expect them. Related code: string ActualSubject = nDoc.GetFirstItem("Subject").Text, ActualFrom = nDoc.GetFirstItem("From").Text, ActualBody = nDoc.GetFirstItem("Body").Text;

  • Getting Serial Port Information and Sorting the Results in C#

    - by Jim Fell
I have some code that loads the serial ports into a combo-box: comboBoxComPort.Items.Add("Select COM port..."); foreach (string s in SerialPort.GetPortNames()) { comboBoxComPort.Items.Add(s); } comboBoxComPort.SelectedIndex = 0; Ideally, I would like to add the port descriptions to the list and sort the items in the list that are after index 0. Does anyone have any suggestions for doing this? Any thoughts you may have would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Android ConnectivityManager information

    - by Mike
I am trying to get a better grip on Android's ConnectivityManager and how it really works under the hood. Using the API is simple enough but I am looking for something lower level such as when it starts and the dirty details of what its doing in the background. I can't seem to find a good resource about it. Everything is just about using the API. Does anyone understand this or have any resources that they could point me to, website, book, white paper, or otherwise? I would really appreciate it. Thanks

  • Why is this class library dll not getting information from app.config

    - by baron
I am developing a custom HttpHandler, to do so I write a C# Class Library and compile to DLL. As part of this I have some directory locations which I want not hard coded in the app, so i'm trying to put it in the app.config which I've used before. Before this has worked by just going building the app.config: <configuration> <appSettings> <add key="Share" value="C:\...\"/> </appSettings> </configuration> And then obtaining this in code like: var shareDirectory = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["Share"]; But when I compile it and put it in the bin folder for the webservice, it keeps getting null for shareDirectory, probably because it can't find app.config. So how do I make sure this is included so I don't have to hard code my direcotry locations? I notice it will essentially after compiled we get the assembly.dll and the assembly.dll.config which is the app.config file, so it's definetly there in the bin folder!

  • Irrelevant legend information in ggplot2

    - by Dan Goldstein
When running this code (go ahead, try it): library(ggplot2) (myDat <- data.frame(cbind(VarX=10:1, VarY=runif(10)), Descrip=sample(LETTERS[1:3], 10, replace=TRUE))) ggplot(myDat,aes(VarX,VarY,shape=Descrip,size=3)) + geom_point() ... the "size=3" statement does correctly set the point size. However it causes the legend to give birth to a little legend beneath it, entitled "3" and containing nothing but a big dot and the number 3. This does the same ggplot(myDat,aes(VarX,VarY,shape=Descrip)) + geom_point(aes(size=3)) Yes, it is funny. It would have driven me insane a couple hours ago if it weren't so funny. But now let's make it stop.

  • Uploadify - Passing Information Back to The Original Form

    - by CccTrash
I have an Send.aspx page that has an uploadify control on it. Upload.ashx handles the file upload. I am adding a file record to a sql database in the Upload.ashx file and I need to get the ID of that record back from Upload.aspx when it is done. Can't get it working with Sessions. =( Something to do with an Adobe bug? What would the best way to handle this be? Here is the uploadify control: Edit: See Answer below... • Extract information from conditional formula

    - by Ken Williams
    I'd like to write an R function that accepts a formula as its first argument, similar to lm() or glm() and friends. In this case, it's a function that takes a data frame and writes out a file in SVMLight format, which has this general form: <line> .=. <target> <feature>:<value> <feature>:<value> ... <feature>:<value> # <info> <target> .=. +1 | -1 | 0 | <float> <feature> .=. <integer> | "qid" <value> .=. <float> <info> .=. <string> for example, the following data frame: result qid f1 f2 f3 f4 f5 f6 f7 f8 1 -1 1 0.0000 0.1253 0.0000 0.1017 0.00 0.0000 0.0000 0.9999 2 -1 1 0.0098 0.0000 0.0000 0.0000 0.00 0.0316 0.0000 0.3661 3 1 1 0.0000 0.0000 0.1941 0.0000 0.00 0.0000 0.0509 0.0000 4 -1 2 0.0000 0.2863 0.0948 0.0000 0.34 0.0000 0.7428 0.0608 5 1 2 0.0000 0.0000 0.0000 0.4347 0.00 0.0000 0.9539 0.0000 6 1 2 0.0000 0.7282 0.9087 0.0000 0.00 0.0000 0.0000 0.0355 would be represented as follows: -1 qid:1 2:0.1253 4:0.1017 8:0.9999 -1 qid:1 1:0.0098 6:0.0316 8:0.3661 1 qid:1 3:0.1941 7:0.0509 -1 qid:2 2:0.2863 3:0.0948 5:0.3400 7:0.7428 8:0.0608 1 qid:2 4:0.4347 7:0.9539 1 qid:2 2:0.7282 3:0.9087 8:0.0355 The function I'd like to write would be called something like this: write.svmlight(result ~ f1+f2+f3+f4+f5+f6+f7+f8 | qid, data=mydata, file="out.txt") Or even write.svmlight(result ~ . | qid, data=mydata, file="out.txt") But I can't figure out how to use model.matrix() and/or model.frame() to know what columns it's supposed to write. Are these the right things to be looking at? Any help much appreciated!

How can I disable the vertical line? Thank you.

I'm writing a jQuery application to allow analysis of data with the help of visual cues. My data is retrieved via XMLHttpRequest in the form of JSON. The visual cues include histograms, spark lines, and various other graph types. The idea is that the user is able to narrow their data via these various visual views. My question is thus - aside from the Google Charts API, does there exist a JavaScript way of presenting a Venn Diagram? Requirement: no Flash. Canvas is acceptable.

The problem I'm having with the current logic is that once Django authenticates a teacher user he has access to all teachers profiles basically by typing the teachers username in the url. Once a teacher finds a co-worker's username he has direct access to his data. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I have a problem in a Ruby on Rails app that I am working on. I have been working on the app for months and I have never had this problem before and after a bit of Google searches I think that somehow someone is trying to steal cookies with javascript. When I click on the link I get an alert box titled "the page at www.napkinboard.com says:" and contains the following message: __utmz=217223433.1270652009.59.3.utmcsr=localhost:3000|utmccn=(referral)|utmcmd=referral|utmcct=/; __utma=217223433.2133018314.1265749085.1271097412.1271125626.63; __utmc=217223433; __utmb=217223433.11.10.1271125626 I checked the database and all data associated with this 'food_item' looks completely normal and does not contain any javascript at all. How did this suddenly happen and how can I stop it? I appreciate any help. Thanks.

  • Extracting information from PDFs of research papers

    - by Christopher Gutteridge
I need a mechanism for extracting bibliographic metadata from PDF documents, to save people entering it by hand or cut-and-pasting it. At the very least, the title and abstract. The list of authors and their affiliations would be good. Extracting out the references would be amazing. Ideally this would be an open source solution. The problem is that not all PDF's encode the text, and many which do fail to preserve the logical order of the text, so just doing pdf2text gives you line 1 of column 1, line 1 of column 2, line 2 of column 1 etc. I know there's a lot of libraries. It's identifying the abstract, title authors etc. on the document that I need to solve. This is never going to be possible every time, but 80% would save a lot of human effort.

  • Getting Serial Port Information in C#

    - by Jim Fell
I have some code that loads the serial ports into a combo-box: List<String> tList = new List<String>(); comboBoxComPort.Items.Clear(); foreach (string s in SerialPort.GetPortNames()) { tList.Add(s); } tList.Sort(); comboBoxComPort.Items.Add("Select COM port..."); comboBoxComPort.Items.AddRange(tList.ToArray()); comboBoxComPort.SelectedIndex = 0; I would like to add the port descriptions (similar to what are shown for the COM ports in the Device Manager) to the list and sort the items in the list that are after index 0 (solved: see above snippet). Does anyone have any suggestions for adding the port descriptions? I am using Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition (.NET 2.0). Any thoughts you may have would be appreciated. Thanks.
