• Java JMS = HornetQ = javax.jms.JMSSecurityException: Unable to validate user: null ?

  Hello Experts, I am trying for several hours to get the HornetQ Examples running in Eclipse. Using the Standalone Examples everything works fine, but when I run the examples in Eclipse I get the following error: javax.jms.JMSSecurityException: Unable to validate user: null What could this error mean? Where do I have to specify the user? Maybe HornetQ tries to look this user up in "Some Context/Properties" etc , but I do not know where and how to specifiy the user HornetQ is running under. What i did: 1.)Started Default HornetQ Server with the start.sh Script in the ./bin directory 2.)Copied the QueueExample over to eclpise 3.)Did some minor changes in the config files (to have the same Queue Names...) (I also tried to disable security completely by setting: <security-enabled>false</security-enabled> but with no success, always getting the same error. Also when trying to programmatically instance HornetQ only via classes I get this error too). Thank you very much!! Jens

I have two database tables with thousands of data.. a table for "skills" and a table for "skills categories" every "skill" belongs to a skills categorie. a "skill" is , physicaly, a varchar(200) field in the database, where there is some text describing the skill.   In informatics theory I hear and read about high-level and low-level languages all time. Yet I don't understand why this is still relevant as there aren't any (relevant) low-level languages except assembler in use today. So you get: Low-level Assembler Definitely not low-level C BASIC FORTRAN COBOL ... High-level C++ Ruby Python PHP ... And if assembler is low-level, how could you put for example C into the same list. I mean: C is extremely high-level compared to assembler. Same even for COBOL, Fortran, etc. So why does everybody keep mentioning high and low-level languages if assembler is really the only low-level language.

• Open Visual Web Developer Express file in Visual Studio Professional

  I started working on an Asp.net MVC website using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 a while ago. Just recently, I managed to get my hands on a copy of Visual Studio 2008 Professional (through DreamSpark). I installed the Service Pack, and also the MVC2 files for Visual Studio. However, now I can't open my project anymore. When I try to open the solution in Visual Studio, it tells me that the project type is not supported. Does this mean that I have to resort to using VWD Express again? Note: I installed MVC2 through the Web Platform Installer, and it says that it installed successfully, but yet when I restart the WPI, the box next to MVC2 isn't checked; if I check it and click "Install", it finishes the install process instantly and tells me that it was successful.

  I have been looking for a way to define an autoincrement data type in Oracle and have found these questions on Stack Overflow: Autoincrement in Oracle Autoincrement Primary key in Oracle database The way to use autoincrement types consists in defining a sequence and a trigger to make insertion transparent, where the insertion trigger looks so: create trigger mytable_trg before insert on mytable for each row when (new.id is null) begin select myseq.nextval into :new.id from dual; end; I have some doubts about the behaviour of this trigger: What does this trigger do when the supplied value of "id" is different from NULL? What does the colon before "new" mean? I want the trigger to insert the new row with the next value of the sequence as ID whatever the supplied value of "new.id" is. I imagine that the WHEN statement makes the trigger to only insert the new row if the supplied ID is NULL (and it will not insert, or will fail, otherwise). Could I just remove the WHEN statement in order for the trigger to always insert using the next value of the sequence?

  I'm conflicted. you guys decide if this should migrate to SU or not. I would like to test my site against popular browser ad ons. ATM i have tested against noscript and adblock plus for firefox. What other popular ad ons should i check compatibility with? By compatibility i mean to work as intent on browsers i support (opera, firefox, chrome, IE 7/8) which include ads. NoScript broke my site and for adblock plus i ask once per week to consider allowing ads. When i see IE6 i notify the user the site is known to be unusable with that browser (The site is script heavy by nature and i wouldnt want to accidentally serve ads to infect users of IE6 with a virus).

• Cfsearch in combination of documents and indexed query data?

  hi! I have an application which stores all kind of data about people. The current cfsearch functionality (in Verity) includes searching documents that are attached to these people. If i have 2 documents attached to 1 person, 1 with say ABC in it and the other with XYZ in it, my ideal searchresult for "ABC AND XYZ" would return the 1 person. But as both 'words' are indexed in different documents, the standard behaviour is not to return any result from the cfsearch, because the combination doesnt exist in any of the 2 documents. Is there any way to combine indexed documents and/or query data in a way that the search is executed in the combination of relevant docs and data? In my application that would mean that i could index all documents and data regarding people and have an intelligent 'global' search to find the right person. any pointers and help very much appreciated! (should Solr offer new possibilities in comparison to Verity, no problem!) thanks! Bart

• Run SSIS package from SQL client

  I deployed my working package on server which is enterprise edition, SSIS installed on it. When I tries to run package by connecting to integration services engine from my desktop SQL client (which doesn't have SSIS installed) I get error "The task "Send Mail Task" cannot run on this edition of Integration Services. It requires a higher level edition." Does it mean that I need to login to the server (RDP) and then run the package? Also, when I schedule the package thru SQL agent it fails saying login time out but my windos auth login works for everything from connecting, deployment. Any clue?

• Can you use the Phoenix compiler as a more powerful NGEN?

  In case you don't know of Phoenix, it's a compiler framework from Microsoft that's apparantly going to be the foundation of all their new compilers. It can read in code from CIL, x86, x64, and IA64; and emit code in x86, x64, IA64, or CIL. Can I use it to transform a pure .Net app into a pure native app? By which I mean, it will not have to load any .Net .dll (not even mscoree), and will have the same semantics? This is excluding Reflection, of course.

Like so: jQuery for my javascript framework. • Compute bounding quad of a sphere with vertex shader

  I'm trying to implement an algorithm from a graphics paper and part of the algorithm is rendering spheres of known radius to a buffer. They say that they render the spheres by computing the location and size in a vertex shader and then doing appropriate shading in a fragment shader. Any guesses as to how they actually did this? The position and radius are known in world coordinates and the projection is perspective. Does that mean that the sphere will be projected as a circle? Thanks!

I would like to know if there is a Java library for analysis of real-world (read: incomplete, ill-formed) HTML. By analysis, I mean things like: figuring out the most prominent color in an HTML chunk changing that color to some other color (hence, has to support modification of the HTML as well) pruning out unwanted tags fixing up the HTML to result in a well formed HTML snippet Parts of the last two are done by libraries such as Jericho, and jTidy.   Hi, I'm developing a web application that has to support lots of simultaneous requests, and I'd like to keep it fast enough. I have now to implement a logging strategy, I'm gonna use log4net, but ... what and how should I log? I mean: How logging impacts in performance? is it possible/recomendable logging using async calls? Is better use a text file or a database? Is it possible to do it conditional? for example, default log to the database, and if it fails, the switch to a text file. What about multithreading? should I care about synchronization when I use log4net? or it's thread safe out of the box? In the requirements appear that the application should cache a couple of things per request, and I'm afraid of the performance impact of that. Cheers.

• What is best way to raise application events for use with admin network monitoring tools

  In a semi-critical .NET service application, what would be a good strategy for raising application events that could be monitored by network administration tools? The events would be for errors, status changes, and possibly other notifications. My company is planning to use some kind of tool down the road to monitor all critical machines and services. As of right now they are using Spice Works to do some monitoring but it is not known if they will keep this down the road. By strategy I mean, perhaps using some sort of protocol ( my network admin has mentioned SNMP), perhaps a service such as windows event log. I have no idea what is available, so I'm leaving the options open. With that in mind, here is a list of preferences I came up with: Somewhat easy to use with .NET. • Boost Thread Hanging on _endthreadex

  I think I am making a simple mistake, but since I noticed there are many boost experts here, I thought I would ask for help. I am trying to use boost threads(1_40) on windows xp. The main program loads a dll, starts the thread like so (note this is not in a class, the static does not mean static to a class but private to the file). static boost::thread network_thread; network_start() { // do network stuff until quit is signaled } DllClass::InitInstance() { network_thread = boost::thread(boost::bind<void>(network_start)); } DllClass::ExitInstance() { //signal quit (which works) //the following code is slightly verbose because I'm trying to figure out what's wrong try { if (network_thread.joinable() ) { network_thread.join(); } else { TRACE("Too late!"); } } catch (boost::thread_interrupted&) { TRACE("NET INTERRUPTED"); } } The problem is that the main thread is hanging on the join, and the network thread is hanging at the end of _endthreadex. What am I misunderstanding?

Template1 t = new Template1(); t.Output.File = "t3.txt"; t.Render(); But I can do the same using t4 script without generator as well. • How to use the md5 hash?

  Okay, so I'm learning php, html, and mysql to learn website development (for fun). One thing I still don't get is how to use md5 of sha1 hashes. I know how to hash the plain text, but say I want to make a login page. Since the password is hashed and can't be reversed, how would mysql know that the user-inserted password matches the hashed password in the database? Here is what I mean: $password = md5($_POST['password']); $query = ("INSERT INTO `users`.`data` (`password`) VALUES ('$password')"); I know that this snippet of script hashes the password, but how would I use this piece of code and make a login page? Any working examples would be great.

• iphone - calculating the font size

  I have to show a label with font size = 14 when the view is 480x320. Supposing I would like to do this in a way that my code will be working well for all future device's screen sizes, including iPad and others following (I am sure more will come), what is the best way to do that? I could do this proportionally, I mean, if the scale increased X, increase the fonts X, but my concern is the different aspect ratios of the devices. The iPhone aspect ratio is 1.5, but iPad's is 1.33, and other aspect ratios can come... I am not sure if this simple scale method will be enough to produce font consistency across all devices. Any suggestions? thanks for any help.

• Is it possible to capture a window with windows 7 DWM thumbnail in it?

  I am starting to believe that you can do nothing with Windows API. I have two windows. One has a DWM thumbnail in it. What I want to do is, I want to be able to capture the screen of the window with the thumbnail into the other one. When I do this, using bitblt, everything is copied except the thumbnail. It just isn't there in the bitmap. So how does the DWM rendering work? I mean, if DWM renders thumbnails directly onto the DC of the registered window, then my approach should work. I'm confused.   I have two directory entries, a and b. Before, a and b point to different inodes. Afterwards, I want b to point to the same inode as a does. I want this to be safe - by which I mean if I fail somewhere, b either points to its original inode or the a inode. most especially I don't want to end up with b disappearing. mv is atomic when overwriting. ln appears to not work when the destination already exists. so it looks like i can say: ln a tmp mv tmp b which in case of failure will leave a 'tmp' file around, which is undesirable but not a disaster. Is there a better way to do this? (what I'm actually trying to do is replace files that have identical content with a single inode containing that content, shared between all directory entries)

But in this moment I don't know how can I determinate this, since count($paginator) doesn't work anymore because of $paginator->getAdapter()->setRowCount(200);and I'm using this because it taks about 7 sec for Zend_Paginator to count the page numbers. So how can I find If my query has any results?

  I am trying to use cvs annotate. This is the what I run: cvs -d /mycvs/cvsroot/ annotate "projects/dg/SomeClass.java" However, I get the following error: cvs annotate: failed to create lock directory for `/mycvs/cvsroot/projects/dg^M' (/mycvs/cvsroot/projects/dg^M/#cvs.lock): No such file or directory cvs annotate: failed to obtain dir lock in repository `/mycvs/cvsroot/projects/dg^M' cvs [annotate aborted]: read lock failed - giving up What does this mean? How can I overcome this problem? Could it be related to the ^M character I see at the error message? When I use eclipse to do the annotation it works. I checked and the directory `/mycvs/cvsroot/projects/dg' exists. The error also occurs when I'm logged in as root, so probably it's not a permissions issue either. I am using CentOS
