• Creating PDF Invoices - Are there any templating solutions?

  Our company is looking to integrate invoices into a new system we are developing. We require some a solution to create a layout of the invoice and then convert to pdf. We have considered just laying out the invoice in html/css then converting to pdf. We have also considered using SVG-PDf conversion. Both of these solutions integrate well into our existing templating language used for our web application. Historically we have been a Microsoft based business and used Crystal Reports for such a task but we are looking an open source Linux solution for this project. Does any one have any suggestions of an approach or technology we could use for such a task?

• How to add a php page to Wordpress

  I want to create a custom page for my Wordpress blog that will execute my php code in it, whilst remaining a part of the overall site css/theme/design. The php code will make use of 3rd party APIs (so I need to include other php files) How do I accomplish this? N.B. I do not have a specific need to interact with the Wordpress API - apart from including certain other php libs I need I have no other dependencies in the PHP code I want to include in a WP page. So obviously any solution that didn't require learning the WP api would be the best one.

• jquery clickling fast

  Hi. I have this function, that adds 31px to my style bottom on ul. It works fine, but if I click fast, it no longer adds 31px, but some weird number like 17.423px. I guess it's because the animation isn't done, and thereby by clicking fast it adds 31px to the current px amount. My thought is that I need to insert a stop(). But where? • Building a professional company website

  Hi fellows, I want to create a professional website for my company. I'm not a designer. I know some html/css, but I don't have much experience making up advanced pages and layouts. I'd expect public area, with various articles, and a "customer zone", accessible via username and password, where clients will be able to track their orders and download files. It needs to look very modern. I don't want to use website templates, because they're too simple. I know some Wordpress, but that's mostly for blogs, and anyways you need to find a right theme besides the CMS itself... Is there any alternative solution, some kind of framework for building such portals? Preferably a system that doesn't require designer skills. Thanks!

  Hi, With sifr, how do I make a font use the light weight version.   Litmus released an email analytics service last month (may 2010). See here: http://litmusapp.com/email-analytics They boast a very cool "read rate" tracking: they can track normal reads, Skims, and Glanced/Deleted. How can they track skims and glanced/deleted? This to me seems impossible :) They also track forwards and prints. Prints are easy (they include a css @media print query with a bg image). But forwards? I think this might be a combo between subsequent opens and different IPs/reffering URLs. However, this means that if I open my mail and re-read it from another computer, it counts as a forward. Any ideas on this one? To summarize: Litmus Email Analytics says they can track email reads, skims, glanced/deleted, prints and forwards. How do they do it (skims, glanced/deleted and forwards)?

• Image in absolute DIV is not positioning from containing DIV

  I have a DIV with position:absolute inside another with position:relative. But the inside DIV is flowing out of the other and positioning it self based on the browser not the containing DIV. Any ideas why this is happening? • fade in all divs of a page. once the content of the divs is loaded

  I want all the divs on my page to fade in after the content is loaded. The code below loads in all imgs in the #div container. Which is great. but it does not load in images that are used as div background images loaded through the css file. So i think the most effective way is to create a piece of code that fades in all the divs on the page after the content ie: images and text has loaded. Is there A way to do this. • jQuery - want to get input value for submit but it gets one and repeats

  I'm trying to replace all submit buttons with a span so cufon will work. The input still needs to be there so have done some css to hide it and overlay to span on top. My issue is getting the value from the input tag is proving quite diffcult. The code below gets the first input value (being 'search' from the search box at the top of the page, and then puts that value into all the spans, even for buttons that have different values (eg: send). This is a .NET page so the whole page is wrapped in one form tag. • JavaScript socket vs. Flash socket?

  Steve Jobs just posted this article on why Apple rejects Flash... http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ I agree that javascript and css can be used to replicate some of Flash's animation, though Flash does all sorts of scaling and tweening that is incredibly powerful, and I'm not sure that there's anything comparable in javascript, if there is, I certainly haven't seen it. However, my question is about the socket. Flash has an incredibly powerful openSocket class that allows you to connect to a server and have the server and the client talk back and forth to one another. As far as I know there is no equivalent class in Javascript. Am I mistaken? Is there some secret mystery Ajax class that replicates the openSocket? If not, then that feature alone makes Flash an invaluable tool. I'm interested in all answers though... and yes this IS a programming question! :)

  Hey guys, I'm working on a google app engine (with Django) and I just can't figure out what's a good practice for folder hierarchy.. I've looked at this: Project structure for Google App Engine but one thing isn't clear - what if I have static folder (like js files) that are unique to my app, not project? where do they go? my current hierarchy is: proj static ** js ** css myapp ** templates So when a template inside my app sends a GET for js/script.js. this gets redirected to /myapp/js/script.js, which my server doesn't recognize. here is my project url.py: urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^myapp/', include('myapp.urls')), ) and here is my myapp.urls.py: urlpatterns = patterns('myapp.views', (r'^$', 'myapp.views.index'), ) how should I rearrange this to work? thanks!

• Counting divs for pagination in Jquery

  I want to create a nice pagination in Jquery for a number of divs I have. EG: <div class="container"> <div id="one">content</div> <div id="two">content</div> <div id="three">content</div> <div id="four">content</div> </div> The number will not always be the same so I need to count the divs, and display a pagination like the one below. 1|2|3|4 Clicking on the page number would display the relevant div. I know how to show and hide elements using Jquery and css and have figured out I can count the divs using var numPages = $('.container').size(); but I can't work out how I can display the pagination. Any pointers?

  I'm writing a backbone.js app. I have multiple js, css and html template files. I also have a script to crunch them into a single file so it is faster to download. How should I work during development: Add a listener to the file system and after every change compile the files so I can see it in a browser. This implies a 1-2 seconds overhead before I can see what I did, which is annoying for html fine-tuning. Somehow browse using the multiple files during development and only crunch before going to production. This means I need to have a separate index.html for dev and prod. What's your take?

  I developed a web page and now i am validating it with w3c HTML4.0... I got one error it says Error Line 30, Column 57: there is no attribute "DATA-FLEXMENU" href="about.php" class="mainlink" data-flexmenu="flexmenu1">About Us</a></div> You have used the attribute named above in your document, but the document type you are using does not support that attribute for this element. This error is often caused by incorrect use of the "Strict" document type with a document that uses frames (e.g. you must use the "Transitional" document type to get the "target" attribute), or by using vendor proprietary extensions such as "marginheight" (this is usually fixed by using CSS to achieve the desired effect instead). Any ways of getting rid of this error .... Any suggestion...

• How can I force input to uppercase in an asp.net textbox?

  I'm writing an asp.net application. I have a textbox on a webform and I want to force whatever the user types to upper case. I'd like to do this on the front end. You should also note that there is a validation control on this textbox, so I want to make sure the solution doesn't interfere with the asp.net validation. Clarification: It appears that the CSS text-tranform makes the user input appear in uppercase, however under the hood, it's still lower case as the validation control fails. You see, my validation control checks to see if a valid state code is entered, however the regex expression I"m using only works with uppercase characters.
