• How do I open a hardware accelarated DirectX window on a secondary screen

  I'm looking to create a hardware accelarated DirectX (9 at the moment) window on a secondary screen. This screen is connected to the same graphics display as the primary screen (at least at the moment). Currently, when I try to open the window on the secondary screen based on window position or by dragging it there, CPU usage jumps by about 10%, which seems to indicate that windows is switching to a software fallback rather than the hardware accelaration. Machine is windows XP running a NVIDIA graphics card (varying cards as this runs on several machines), with the latest driver. It's also running CUDA at the same time to produce the images if that matters. Programming language is c++, manual window and message queue creation, no tookbox used at the moment to manage the GUI Thanks

But these functions can only check if one point is inside a poly. I have a query where the PiP part should only be one part of the query and check for x points inside a polygon. • Using 'Copy as cURL' from Chrome in windows command line

  So, Google Chrome as this great 'copy as cURL' option under 'Network' of the Chrome DevTools. Works great in command lines for linux but not in windows. Apparently it has something to do with the single quotes as the error I get is protocol 'http not supported In other words its reading that single quote. Is there a simple way to make this formatable for windows? I tried replacing all the single quotes with double quotes but then nothing happens at all.   Hey all. I am looking for a fast and efficient protocol that can be used between different web services to send text-data (not binary data). Doesn't matter if the protocol is binary or text base. Some conditions: I has to be more "efficient" than normal XML which adds a lot of extra data and the tools to read/write is too heavy It has to be "supported" by most major languages, meaning it cannot only be available for one specific language. At the moment, both Java and PHP have to be able to talk to each other using this protocol. I have already looked at: XML - which I am currently using. Hessian 2 -which works perfectly in Java, but the PHP-support is out of date JSON -the different between JSON and XML is only minor Any suggestions are welcome!

  I'm after a regex that puts spaces around each "-" in a string, eg. 02 jaguar-leopard, tiger-panther 08 would become 02 jaguar - leopard, tiger - panther 08 Note that if the "-" already has spaces around it, no changes are to be made, eg. 02 jaguar - leopard, tiger - panther 08 should not become 02 jaguar - leopard, tiger - panther 08 The number of hyphens are unknown in advance. • Change column names of a cube action as they appear in Visual Studio

  the title pretty much says it all. I have a cube with data in it and I have yet to find a way to change the column names. They appear in a very ugly manner like [cubeName].[$dimension.columnName]. I have tried everything I know and anything I found on the web but nothing seems to be working. What I tried to do in most cases is create an Action in the Actions tab and write some MDX query language in there. No results whatsoever. As if the action is never run. Does anyone know how to do this? I've spent about 3 days trying to figure this out. Thank you.

  Hi All, I am embarking on some learning and I want to write my own syntax highlighting for files in C++. Can anyone give me ideas on how to go about doing this? To me it seems that when a file is opened: 1. it would need to be parsed and decided what type of source file it is. Trusting the extension might not be full-proof a way to know what keywords/commands apply to what language a way to decide what color each keyword/command gets I want to do this on OS X, C++ or Objective-C Can anyone provide pointers on how I might get started with this?

  I noticed the following in the Java Language spec in the section on enumerations here: link switch(this) { case PLUS: return x + y; case MINUS: return x - y; case TIMES: return x * y; case DIVIDE: return x / y; } throw new AssertionError("Unknown op: " + this); However, looking at the switch statement definition section, I didn't notice this particular syntax (the associated throw statement) anywhere. Can I use this sort of "default case is throw an exception" syntactic sugar outside of enum definitions? Does it have any special name? Is this considered a good/bad practice for short-cutting this behavior of "anything not in the list throws an exception"?

• Django refresh page if change data by other user

  I have a test django app. In one page the test show the same question to all users. I'd like that when a user answers correctly, send a signal to other active user's browser to refresh to the next question. I have been learning about signals in django I learning work with them but I don't now how send the "refresh signal" to client browser. I think that it can do with a javascript code that check if a certain value (actual question) change and if change reload the page but I don't know this language and the information that I find was confused. My doubts : What is byte sized in it and and what's a bit pattern ? What relevance does this hold and where can I apply it ? Is it in any sense related to escape sequences ? • Asking for input without stopping the script in python.

  I am (trying) to make a simple IRC client in python (as kind of a project while I learn the language). I have a loop that I use to receive and parse what the IRC server sends me, but if I use raw_input to input stuff, it stops the loop dead in its tracks until I input something (obviously). How can I input something without the loop stopping? Thanks in advance. (I don´t think I need to post the code, I just want to input something without the while 1 loop stopping.)

PrivateMessages: MessageID (Auto Numbering), SenderID and a few other fields defining the message content. MessageStatus: MessageID, ReceiverID, MessageWasRead (Boolean) What I need is a query to which I input a user's id and I get all the private messages he has received. In addition, I also need to receive each message's sender UserName. • Sprintf equivalent in Mathematica?

  I don't know why Wikipedia lists Mathematica as a programming language with printf. I just couldn't find the equivalent in Mathematica. My specific task is to process a list of data files with padded numbers, which I used to do it in bash with fn=$(printf "filename_%05d" $n) The closest function I found in Mathematica is PaddedForm. And after some trial and error, I got it with "filename_" <> PaddedForm[ Round@#, 4, NumberPadding -> {"0", ""} ]& It is very odd that I have to use the number 4 to get the result similar to what I get from "%05d". I don't understand this behavior at all. Can someone explain it to me? And is it the best way to achieve what I used to in bash?

• Planning a skillset for a fallback career [closed]

  I'm not too certain this is a SO question, but I didn't think it belonged in meta either. Long story short, I am bioinformatics researcher. I like to code, it's my favourite part of the job. I have been thinking for a while that if academia is not kind to me, I might seek a career in software development. My current contract is for three years and I would like to spend some time over the next 3 three years learning and practicing software development as possible. Python seems like a popular language and it what I mostly use to do things for me, but I am also in heavy use of R. So my main question is: Are python and R good things to be learning with a sotfware dev goal in mind, and if so, is there any particular type of programming or software that might be useful to have experience with. • CAD/CAM without C++

  Hello, Is it possible to do CAD/CAM software without having to use C++? My company developed their software with c/C++ but that was more than 10 years ago. Today,there is a lot of legacy code that switching would force us to get rid of but i was wondering what the actual risks are. We have a lot of mathematical algorithms for toolpath calculations, feature recognition and simulation and 3D Rendering and i was wondering if C# can handles all of that without great performance loss. Is it a utopia to rewrite such algorithms in c# or should that language only deal with UI. We are not talking about game development here (Halo 3 or Call Of Duty) so how much processing does CAD/CAM really need? Can anybody enlighten me on this matter? Most of my colleagues are hardcore C++ programmers and although i program in c++ i love .NET but i am having a hard time selling .NET to them other than basic UI. Does it make sense to consider switching to .NET in such a field, or is it just not a wise idea? Thank you
