• UTF8 issues on Linux

  Hi, I have some code that fetches some data from the database, database codepage is UTF8. When I run the code on a linux box, some characters come out as question marks (?) but when I run the same code on a windows server, all characters appear correctly. When I do: $ $LANG Following is returned en_SG.UTF-8 en_SG is something that doesn't look correct, it should be en_US but the latter part of the returned string is UTF-8 which is good. Is there anything else that I can look into to fix the character corruption problem?

• Awk appears to disconnect my DB2 session when piping

  Hello. I'm attempting to run the following command in Korn Shell (ksh): set -A INDEXES `db2 "describe indexes for table ${TABSCHEMA}.${TABNAME} show detail" | awk '{print $1"."$2}'` What I'm attempting to achieve is place a list of the indexes over a particular table into an array which I can later iterate through. The problem is, when I run the above command the contents of the array starts with the error message of 'SQL1024N' (which is telling me that the database connection does not exist). However, if I remove the 'awk' at the end of the statement as so: set -A INDEXES `db2 "describe indexes for table ${TABSCHEMA}.${TABNAME} show detail"` it works just fine (well, to the extent its returning data. Obviously without the awk I'm not capturing the correct data). Does anyone know why the awk is having this affect? I appreciate there is more than one way to get this data, but it baffles me as to why this is happening. Thanks in advance. Greg.

• Pushing View from UITableView Problem

  Basically, what I want is to be able to press a record in a table, and have it push to another view. To do this, I created a nib file and a UIViewController subclass (for the "pushed" view). I set the nib file's "File Owner" to be the controller I created. Then, in the view controller of the table that will push that view, I set the didSelectRowIndexAtPath: method to include the following: SearchTableController *vc = [[SearchTableController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SearchTable" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:vc animated:YES]; [vc release]; (where "SearchTableController" is the name of the UIViewController subclass and "SearchTable" is the name of the nib file) However, when I run this code and click on the record, nothing happens- the app doesn't crash, but the view doesn't get pushed. The code is getting run, because it works when I NSLog(), but it doesn't seem to be pushing the view. Thanks for any help in advance.

  I have just recently discovered the difference between different constructors in GDI+. Going: var bmp = new Bitmap(width, height, pixelFormat); creates a DDB (Device Dependent Bitmap) whereas: var bmp = new Bitmap(someFile); creates a DIB (Device Independent Bitmap). This is really not usually important, except when handling very large images (where a DDB will run out of memory, and run out of memory at different sizes depending on the machine and its video memory). I need to create a DIB rather than DDB, but specify the height, width and pixelformat. Does anyone know how to do this in DotNet. Also is there a guide to what type of Bitmap (DIB or DDB) is being created by which Bitmap constructor?

• Converting VS 2008 Project to VS 2010 - now .aspx won't load

  I converted all my other projects fine from VS 2008 to 2010 and they run great. There is one project however for some reason after converting, when I try to run one of the .aspx pages in it, I get nothing...no error, just that it cannot display the page. Nothing has changed. The path is still the same, and the IIS website is still the same. I even recreated the site in IIS using the VS option to create it in the web project properties. This is a testing project..only has like one .aspx in it. Not sure why I get nothing after converting this. I did not convert it to .NET 4.0, it's still in v3.5 in VS 2010.

• What segments does C compiled program use?

  Hi, I read on OSDev wiki, that protected mode of x86 architecture allow you to create separate segments for code and data, while you cannot write into code section. That Windows (yes, this is the platform) loads new code into code segment, and data are created on data segment. But, if this is the case, how does program know it must switch segments to the data segment? Becouse if I understand it right, all adress instructions point to the segment you run the code from, unless you switch the descriptor. But I also read, that so colled flat memory model allows you to run code and data within one segment. But I read this only in connection to assembler. So, please, what is the case with C compiled code on Windows? Thanks.

  Hello, I have a application that allows a user to choose some parameters for a powerpoint report, run the report, then allow the user to "save" or "open" the powerpoint file. I got all of that working OK. When you click on "run" report, it pops open a window which generates the report, stores it in session, then closes the window. I have a button on the main page that will export the report. So, now, when the pop up window that generates the report is finished, i use "window.opener" to call a javascript method on the main page, that will do a javascript click of the button. when this button is pressed, Internet Explorer gives me the following message : "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer.." Do you guys know of any tricks around this?

  My project doesn't seem to be aware of this new constant that's apparently auto-generated in Android Tools r17 builds: "Added a feature that allows you to run some code only in debug mode. Builds now generate a class called BuildConfig containing a DEBUG constant that is automatically set according to your build type. You can check the (BuildConfig.DEBUG) constant in your code to run debug-only functions such as outputting debug logs." I've confirmed that this class is not being auto-generated anywhere in my project by the new tools. I deleted all project outputs (including all gen folders) and rebuilt, and only R.java classes are being generated. Why are the tools not generating the BuildConfig class? It may be relevant that I'm using IntelliJ.

• Read from file in eclipse

  I'm trying to read from a text file to input data to my java program. However, eclipse continuosly gives me a Source not found error no matter where I put the file. I've made an additional sources folder in the project directory, the file in question is in both it and the bin file for the project and it still can't find it. I even put a copy of it on my desktop and tried pointing eclipse there when it asked me to browse for the source lookup path. No matter what I do it can't find the file. here's my code in case it's pertinent: System.out.println(System.getProperty("user.dir")); File file = new File("file.txt"); Scanner scanner = new Scanner(file); in addition, it says the user directory is the project directory and there is a copy there too. • How to debug without Visual Studio?

  Hello, Python - c++ dll - c# dll I have a com interop c# dll that is loaded in a wrapper c++ dll throught the .tlb file generated in c# to be used in a python project. When I run in my computer it works fine but when I run in a computer that just got formated it gives: WindowsError: exception code 0xe0434f4d I have the redistribute c++ installed and the .net compact framework 3.5 on the formatted computer. How can I see what is the correct exception on a computer that does not have visual studio installed? How can I debug all of this? I can't debug the dll's itself can I? Note: in my computer all works well so maybe is some dll or file missing. I allready used Dependency Walker to see if there's some dll missing, and nop!

  So I have this table of book orders, it contains 2 columns, one is the order ID(primary key) and another is the ID of the book that the customer ordered. • Tomcat application: Frequent OutOfMemory PermGen exception while image uploads

  Hi, I have a tomcat 6 application which I have set parameters of -Xms512m -Xmx1024m. I thought 1 GB of memory in a 4 GB RAM would be enough, but that is not the case. On application stop/start multiple times (from tomcat manager) and also on image uploads (sometimes) I run into the OutOfMemory PermGen space error and the site stops responding. Should I increase the memory still some more? Is there anything else that I can do to from the tomcat side so that it does not run into the PermGen space issue?   Hello, I'm developing a JEE application to run on Glassfish: Database (javaDB, MS SQL, MySQL or Oracle) EJB layer with JPA (Toplink essentials - from Glassfish) for database access JSF/Icefaces based web UI accessing the EJB layer The application will have a lot of concurrent web client, so I want to run it on different physical servers and use a load-balancer. My problem is now how to keep the applications synchronized. I intend to set up multiple servers, each running Glassfish with my EAR app installed. Whenever on one of the servers data is added to or removed from the database (via JPA, no direct SQL queries), this change should be reflected in the JPA layer on the other servers. I've been looking around for solutions to this, but couldn't find anything I really like (the full Toplink from Oracle claims to have a solution, but don't know). Doing a refresh before every access to a JPA entity could work, but is far from efficient. Are there any patterns, libraries, ... that could help here? Thanks a lot!

But the created process should run in the current logged in desktop i.e. it should not run in session 0. By default only administrators will log on to the console. The service should launch the process, as service is running in session 0 and system account. Can it any how get the non restricted token and use it in CreateProcessAsUser, so that the process created does have integrity level of high or system. Is it possible? One more thing is i should get the non restricted token with out prompting for user name or password of the logged in user. Thanks

  Hello all! I am using Hibernate and getting Exception in thread "main" org.hibernate.ObjectNotFoundException: No row with the given identifier exists: [<MyDbObject>#271] What is pretty weird about this error is, that the object with the given id exists in the database. I inserted the problematic record in another run of the application. If I access it in the same run (i.e. same hibernate session) there seem to be no problems retrieving the data. Just because it could be a fault of the mapping: public class ProblemClass { @ManyToOne(optional = false) private MyDbObject myDbObject; } public class MyDbObject { @OneToMany(mappedBy = "myDbObject") private List<ProblemClass> problemClasses; } I have absolutely no clue even where to look at. Any hints highly appreciated!

  Hi, I have an ant build file that contains JUnit test suite that I would like to execute. Currently I just right click and run the build file from Eclipse. I want to write a java code that can execute the ant build file automatically. So I just run the code and ant will be executed. Second is I want to capture the test result. Currently the result is based on JUnit HTML report. I want to make my own simple test report. I read there is JUnitResultFormatter but I can't find the instructional step by step how to use it.
