• Monitor SOAP 1.2 webservice using OpManager

• Proxy Error 502 "Reason: Error reading from remote server" with Apache 2.2.3 (Debian) mod_proxy and Jetty 6.1.18

  Apache is receiving requests at port :80 and proxying them to Jetty at port :8080 The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server The proxy server could not handle the request GET /. My dilemma: Everything works fine normally (fast requests, few seconds or few tens of seconds long requests are processed ok). Problems occur when request processing takes long (few minutes?). If I issue request instead directly to Jetty at port :8080 the request is processed OK. So problem is likely to sit somewhere between Apache and Jetty where I am using mod_proxy. How to solve this? I have already tried some "tricks" related to KeepAlive settings, without luck. • LINQ to SQL or Entities, at this point?

  I'm a bit late to the game and have decided to spend some spare time learning LINQ. As an exercise, I'm going to rewrite a WebForms app in MVC 2 (which is also new to me). I managed to find a few topics regarding LINQ here (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16322/learning-about-linq, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8050/beginners-guide-to-linq, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/252683/is-linq-to-sql-doa), which brought the concern of Entities vs SQL to my attention. The threads are all over a year old however, and I can't seem to find any definitive information on which ORM is preferable. Is Entities more or less LINQ to SQL 2.0 at this point? Is it still more difficult to use? Is there any reason to use LINQ to SQL, or should I just jump into Entities? The applications I write at my present employer have a lengthy lifecycle (~10 years), so I'm trying to pick the best technology available.

  When reading the InputStream of an HttpURLConnection, is there any reason to use one of the following over the other? I've seen both used in examples. Manual Buffer: while ((length = inputStream.read(buffer)) > 0) { os.write(buf, 0, ret); } BufferedInputStream is = http.getInputStream(); bis = new BufferedInputStream(is); ByteArrayBuffer baf = new ByteArrayBuffer(50); int current = 0; while ((current = bis.read()) != -1) { baf.append(current); } EDIT I'm still new to HTTP in general but one consideration that comes to mind is that if I am using a persistent HTTP connection, I can't just read until the input stream is empty right? In that case, wouldn't I need to read the message length and just read the input stream for that length? And similarly, if NOT using a persistent connection, is the code I included 100% good to go in terms of reading the stream properly?

• Keep an ASP.NET IIS website responsive when time between visits is long

  After years of ASP.NET development I'm actually quite surprised that I can't seem to find a satisfying solution for this. Why does an IIS ASP.NET site always seem to fall asleep (for 2-6 seconds) after a certain time of inactivity (after several hours), during which no HTTP response is sent from server to client. This happens on any type of site, one page or many, db or not, regardless the settings. How can I fix this? During the wait time, the server is not busy and there are no high peaks or (.NET) memory shortages. My guess is, it has to do with Windows moving the IIS process to the background and its memory to the page file, but I'm not sure. Anybody any idea? EDIT: one solution is to send some HTTP request once an hour or so, but I hope for something more constructive. EDIT: what I meant is: after hours of inactivity, it pauses several seconds on any new HTTP request.

  Hi. Can someone please help me figure out a way to achieve the following (see snippets below) in Django templates? I know that you cannot use more than one extends, but I am new to django and I do not know the proper syntax for something like this. I want to be able to do this so that I can use my nested div layout for css reasons without having to type it like that each time and risking a typo.   Hello! I tried to catch 404 errors like this... But when i try to load http://localhost:11415/wfwe/wefwe/ - all good work. When i try to load http://localhost:11415/order/ - fail (with error The RouteData must contain an item named 'action' with a non-empty string value.) • Separation of static and dynamic content in Java EE applications

  We work with IBM products and we typically use IBM Http Servers (read Apache) as a reverse proxy for our application servers. For performance reasons we serve static content (.gif, .jpg, .css, .html etc.) from our http servers, to ease the burden a bit from the application server. So far, we have to distribute files to http server and configure it manually (writing custom scripts at best.) The problem is the effort needed to keep everything in synch, especially when you need to update the app. Does any Java EE product support this “out of the box”? Is there a way to have application server do this automatically, like in cluster configuration for example, where master node is in charge of distributing the application to other nodes and for keeping everything in synch.

• nivo slider and drop down menu doesnt work in IE

• Dreamweaver creating temp php files instead of working direct from the local test server files

  Trying to get MAMP running with Dreamweaver. When I preview a php file inside Dreamweavers 'Live View' mode instead of working direct from my file: http://localhost/php_test/timetest.php it creates its own temp file which looks like: http:// 127.0.0.1/php_test/ TMPWY5ZEM.php (I've added the additional spaces as stockoverflow assumed I was spamming) I know the localhost runs correctly as if I type the URL directly into a browser it runs fine.   I'm currently using nginx to reverse-proxy requests from web clients that are doing long-polling to an upstream. Since we're doing long polling (as opposed to websockets), when a client connects it will make multiple http connections to the server in serial, re-establishing a connection every time the server sends it some data (or timing out and re-establishing if the server has nothing to say for 10 seconds). What I'd like to do is limit the number of concurrent web clients. Since the clients are constantly making new HTTP requests instead of keeping a single request open, it's a little tricky to count the total number of web clients (because it's not the same as total number of concurrently connected http clients). The method I've come up with is to track http requests by the originating IP address, and store the IP address somewhere with a TTL of 20 seconds. If a request comes in whose IP isn't recognized, then we check the total number of unexpired stored IP addresses; if that's less than the maximum then we allow this request through. And if a request comes in with an IP address that we can find in the look-up table that hasn't yet expired, then it is allowed through as well. All requests that are allowed through have their IPs added to the table (if not there before) and the TTL refreshed to 20 seconds again. I had actually whipped something together that worked correctly this way using nginx along with the Redis 2.0 Nginx Module (and the nginx lua module to simplify the conditional branching), using redis to store my IP addresses with a TTL (the SETEX command), and checking the table size with the DBSIZE command. This worked but the performance was horrible. nginx and redis ended up using lots of cpu and the machine could only handle a very small number of concurrent requests. The new stick-table and tracking counters that were added to Haproxy in version 1.5 (via a commission from serverfault) seem like they might be ideal to implement exactly this sort of rate limiting, because the stick-table can track IP addresses and automatically expire entries. However, I don't see an easy way to get a total count of the unexpired entries in the stick table, which would be necessary to know the number of connected web clients. I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions, for nginx or haproxy or even for something else not mentioned here that I haven't thought of yet.

• How to stream semi-live audio over internet

  I want to write something like Skype, i.e. I have a constant audio stream on one computer and then recompress it in a format that's suitable for a latent internet connection, receive it on the other end and play it. Let's also assume that the internet connection is fairly modern and fast, i.e. DSL or alike, no slow connections over phone and such. The involved computers will also be rather modern (Dual Core Intel CPUs at 2GHz or more). I know how to handle the audio on the machines. What I don't know is how to transmit the audio in an efficient way. The challenges are: I'd like get good audio quality across the line. The stream should be received without drops. The stream may, however, be received with a little delay (a second delay is acceptable). I imagine that the transport software could first determine the average (and max) latency, then start the stream and tell the receiver to wait for that max latency before starting to play the audio. With that, if the latency doesn't get any higher, the entire stream will be playable on the other side without stutter or drops. If, due to unexpected IP latencies or blockages, the stream does get cut off, I want to be able to notice this so that I can take actions (e.g. abort the stream) and eventually start a new transmission. What are my options if I want do use ready-made software for the compression and tranmission? I have no intention to write my own audio compression engine, really. OTOH, I plan to sell the solution in a vertical market, meaning I can afford a few dollars of license fees per copy, but not $100s. I guess the simplest solution would be to just open a TCP stream, send a few packets back and forth to determine their running time (or even use UDP for that), then use the results as the guide for my max latency value, then simply fire the audio data in its raw form (uncompressed 16 bit stereo), along with a timing code over the TCP connection. The receiver reads the data and plays it with the pre-determined delay. That might just work with the type of fast connection I expect. I just wonder if there are better solutions to reach this goal, with better performance (lower latency) and less data (compressed). BTW, I first try to implement this on OS X, but might want to do it on Windows, too, if it proves successful.

• Favicon to PNG in PHP

  I need a PHP script to convert favicons to PNGs while keeping their original dimensions. I know Google has it's secret icon converter - http://www.google.com/s2/favicons?domain=http://facebook.com/ but this converts favicons to 16x16 even if they they were originally larger. So basically I need this, minus the shrinking effect. I've also seen this - http://www.controlstyle.com/articles/programming/text/php-favicon/ but I couldn't get it to work after hours of messing around with it. Basically I am trying to automatically grab the icon for a link that will be as large as possible - automatically 48x48 png based on a URL would be the perfect scenario, but I don't know of any humanly possible way to do this given that no websites happen to keep a 48x48 icon in a publicly accessible spot. Does anybody know of a script/service or have a suggestion? Thanks!

However if I go to following url I can see that 16964 changeset has reviews assigned to it: http://fisheye.company.com/changelog/NameOfRepository?cs=16964 I also tried to use: http://fisheye.company.com/rest-service-fe/search-v1/reviewsForChangeset/NameOfRepository/ I got the same response. Am I missing something?

• using libcurl to create a standalone site-polling program

  I am creating a standalone (no DLLs) windows C/C++ program that uses HTTP POST to periodically send data to an HTTP server. I identified libCURL as the HTTP client library as it seems simple and reliable. I still need to identify the environment (an IDE) which I can use to develop my project. My program has: poller- which checks the status of the connection a file writer when polled link is down a component which POSTs the file when link is up What is the appropriate IDE for this project? I heard endorsements for DevC++ and Visual C. I am a newb to coding and this site. Pardon me if I am unclear in anything.
