• How to specify Wireless or Bluetooth in GameKit when using my own custom interface

  Hi, I've decided to implement my own interface for connecting two devices running my game, as opposed to using the GKPeerPickerController. This is actually working quite well. But I just realised that in my creating of the GKSession I'm not actually specifying whether the connection should be Wireless or Bluetooth. I have an option in my interface to let the user specify which connection method they'd like to use. How do I tell GKSession whether I want it to connect via Bluetooth or Wireless? I think what is currently happening is that it defaults to Wireless if wireless is enabled otherwise it uses Bluetooth. But I'd like to let the user specify which connection method, is this possible? Node.js is supposed to be a good candidate for this type of application. • User management for custom application built on google apps

  Hi guys, I'm modifying our collaboration system so it can be listed on google applications. A small issue I'm facing is the registering of user details. By default whenever someone logs into their google Apps account they pretty much are logged into the application. For every action taken by a registered login in user I store the user ID of that signed in user whenever an update is made in the database. However the google apps user sign in process is different in this respect that there isn't anything visible as a user ID for me to work with. Any ideas?

  What I do: Publishing .Net 3.5 application via VS, or msbuild (whatever), and now I need to insert to the published application separate directory (Modules - not added as a reference to the project - our project architecture does not allow this). So I'm copying the folder to published location then runs mageUI.exe select the application manifest and then the problems starts. As I press the populate button it's adding also hidden directory? So I remove the directory, after I want to save the manifest file I get the "Warning MSB3110: Assembly 'NAME.Shell.application.deploy' has mismatched identity 'NAME.Shell.application', expected file name: 'NAME.Shell.application.application'". Did you have the same problems, according to http://smartclient.codeplex.com/Project/Download/FileDownload.aspx?DownloadId=5060 it should be easy as 1-2-3 but it's not.

  I just downloaded and ran the boost installer for version 1.42 (from boostpro.com), and set up my project according to the getting started guide. • Create your own custom browser

  Hi, I want to shape my own browser or at least modify a existing one so far that it meets my needs. I want a fast browser (starting and running, not necessarily faster rendering) without any stuff I don't use and simple productive navigation (like Firefox + Vimperator + Tree Style Tab), only much more integrated into each other and a different GUI. I was thinking about just looking into the current two top browsers chrome and firefox (open-source wise) and branch my own smaller version out of it. By just using WebKit or Gecko I will have to implement all the Connection-stuff, too, but I really am not interested in doing that. So my questions are: Does it make sense to start off with a current browser and strip off certain features and the frontend and replace it with my own code? Chrome or Firefox? Which one is less complex? I don't care much about Plugins and Extensions, so they aren't they pretty much even in features otherwise? Thanks for your answers p.s.: It's a just-for-fun at-home project, so please no "just use the browsers..."-stuff...

  I developed a Windows service using C#.NET to generate PDF report. To generate PDF file I am using a third party dll. The application is running in my Windows XP platform. When I deployed the service in Windows Server 2008 64 bit version, I got this error: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {46521B1F-0A5B-4871-A4C2-FD5C9276F4C6} failed due to the following error: 80040154. I registered the DLL using the regsvr32 command. I able to see this CLSID in the registry. But the problem persists. What could be the problem?

• OAuth gives me 401 error

  I am trying to get the access key but I cannot make it work. `request_token.get_access_token is giving me 401 Unauthorized (OAuth::Unauthorized) error. I copy the authorize_url into my browser, allow the application, I receive some kind of PIN from twitter but after hitting enter in my script I always get 401 error. • Issue allowing custom Xml Serialization/Deserialization on certain types of field

  I've been working with Xml Serialization/Deserialization in .net and wanted a method where the serialization/deserialization process would only be applied to certain parts of an Xml fragment. This is so I can keep certain parts of the fragment in Xml after the deserialization process. To do this I thought it would be best to create a new class (XmlLiteral) that implemented IXmlSerializable and then wrote specific code for handling the IXmlSerializable.ReadXml and IXmlSerializable.WriteXml methods. In my example below this works for Serializing, however during the Deserialization process it fails to run for multiple uses of my XmlLiteral class. In my example below sTest1 gets populated correctly, but sTest2 and sTest3 are empty. I'm guessing I must be going wrong with the following lines but can't figure out why.. Any ideas at all?   I have a wcf service in front of an AzMan store that passes roles and operations to clients using the following interface: [OperationContract] bool AuthenticateUser(string password, string appName); [OperationContract] string[] GetRoles(string storelocation, string appName); [OperationContract] string[] GetOperations(string storeLocation, string appName, string selectedRole); Clients connect to this service using windows authentication (but users must send their password through to reaffirm their identity). Ultimately the service delivers an array of operations that each client can perform based on their selected role. I've opened a new Silverlight Business Application and tried to understand how authentication/authorization works in this template, as well as scoured the web to find examples to how to hook my webservice to the login box already created in the template, but I am completely at a loss as how to do this! Can anyone offer any advice?

• Linux Kernel Module - Creating proc file - proc_root undeclared error

• I keep getting a "System InvalidOperationException occurred in System Windows Forms dll" error in VB

  I've just started learning VB.NET with VS 9.0; a small application I'm working on keeps returning an "A first chance exception of type System InvalidOperationException occurred in System Windows Forms dll" error from the Immediate Window. The application has almost zero functionality so far, it consists of a menu strip with: File About |Open |Save |Save As |Quit The only code I have written opens an Open File dialog, a Save As dialog, an About window with background sound and an OK button, and the Quit button which exits. Since there is almost no code for me to search through, I can't understand why there would be an error. The program runs just fine when I'm debugging it too.

• firefox, jQuery ajax calls firing twice and never triggering success or error functions

  Hi, I am developing with the .NET framework, using jQuery 1.4.2 client side. When developing in Firefox version 3.6, every so often an one of the many ajax calls I make on the page will fire twice, the second will return successfully but will not trigger the success handler of the ajax call and the first never returns anything. So basically the data is all sent to the server and response is sent down but nothing happens with the response. Here is an example of the call I am making. It happens to any of the ajax calls, so there is not one particular that is causing the problem: $.ajax({ type:"POST", contentType : "application/json; charset=utf-8", data:"{}", dataType:"json", success:function(){ alert('success'); }, error:function(){ alert('error'); }, url:'/services.aspx/somemethod' }); }) From firebug, here are the headers of the first call which in firebug shows as never completely responding, meaning i see no response code and the loader gif in the firebug never goes away. I have seen this article about firefox 3.5+ and preflighted requests https://developer.mozilla.org/En/HTTP_access_control#Preflighted_requests In the article is says if a "POST" is made with any other content type than "application/x-www-form-urlencoded, multipart/form-data, or text/plain" than the request is pre-flighted. If this is the case, this should happen to all of my calls. Thanks

• ActiveReports nested subreport rendering resulting in error

  I'm having a problem with an ActiveReports(3.0) report which contains nested subreports. The problem is that the child/grandchild subreports are rendering before their predecessor has completed rendering so the XMLDataSource cannot be set properly. It seems to be a purely timing issue has occassionally if I am debugging the report in Visual Studio and stepping through the code the report will generate but mostly I get an error message: "FileURL not set or empty" The FileURL is supposed to be empty has we are dynamically loading the XML to the report. The structure of the report is: Parent Child1 Child2 GrandChild2-1 GrandChild2-2 I found one solution going back to 2004 on Data Dynamics website that you basically have to force the subreports to look at the parent. ((DataDynamics.ActiveReports.DataSources.XMLDataSource) subrpt.DataSource).FileURL = ((DataDynamics.ActiveReports.DataSources.XMLDataSource) this.DataSource).FileURL; This seemed to work for a while until I took out all my breakpoints and tried to run it and now it just gives me the error message. If anyone has ran across this or has any suggestions on getting around it, it would be greatly appreciated. Running ActiveReports 5.3.1436.2 thanks, Chris

• Deploying Sinatra app on Dreamhost/Passenger with custom gems

  I've got a Sinatra app that I'm trying to run on Dreamhost that makes use of pony to send email. In order to get the application up and running at the very beginning (before adding pony), I had to gem unpack rack and gem unpack sinatra into the vendor/ directory, so this was my config.ru: require 'vendor/rack/lib/rack' require 'vendor/sinatra/lib/sinatra' set :run, false set :environment, :production set :views, "views" require 'public/myapp.rb' run Sinatra::Application I have already done gem install pony and gem unpack pony (into vendor/). Afterwards, I tried adding require 'vendor/sinatra/lib/pony' to config.ru only to have Passenger complain about pony's dependencies (mime-types, tmail) not being found either! There has to be a better way to use other gems and tone down those long, ugly, redundant requires. Any thoughts?

  I have been struggling all the afternoon with the XPokerEval Library I downloaded here: http://www.codingthewheel.com/archives/poker-hand-evaluator-roundup#xpokereval I am trying to make the XPokerEval.PokerSim work, using Visual C++ 2010 express but i get the following errors: 1>psim_test.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "void __cdecl SimulateHand(char const *,struct SimResults *,float,float,unsigned int)" (?SimulateHand@@YAXPBDPAUSimResults@@MMI@Z) referenced in function _wmain 1>psim_test.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "unsigned int __cdecl RankHand(int const *)" (?RankHand@@YAIPBH@Z) referenced in function _wmain Do you think this can be due to a missing link to a library or a incompatibility with my IDE? The script uses the Pokersource Poker-Eval library which is also included in the zip file, I added to the project directories but it still does not work! I cannot figure out why and I am getting mad! Thanks in advance for any tips on this!

  We are integrating a third party SOAP web services in our application. The WSDL is used with SOAPUI tool, where sample requests and responses worked fine. When we try to integrate with apache Axis 1.3, where we tried WSDL2JAVA with the WSDL. For example if I go to: example.com/book/A-bible/gesu-crist/938/12/ the I will get redirected to: example.com/book/the-bible/gesu-crist/938/12/ but I go to wrong url I will get this error: TypeError at /book/A-bible/gesu-crist/938/12/ %d format: a number is required, not unicode . Why ? What I have to do ?

• Pass-by-Reference Error

  I have a hook system setup... which is working on localhost... I put it live and get an error saying "Warning: Call-time pass-by-reference has been deprecated". Now, apparently the work around is to remove all "&" from your function calls, ie foo(&$me) to foo($me) and then in foo's function definition do "function foo(&$me)". However, I can not do this... because my hooks accept an array as arguments, I need a work around for this. Like I can use "run_hooks ( 'hook-name', $me );" or "run_hooks ( 'hook-name', array ( $me, $another_var, etc... ) )"; So this means I can not use "function run_hooks ( $hook_name, &$arguments )" because I'll get an error in php saying it can not pass "array()" as reference... Any ideas an a work around? Thanks.

• Silverlight using WCF Ria with POCOS gives edit operation error

  Hi, I have converted an Entity framework project to use POCO objects by removing the entity data model and the domain service and meta data classes. My silverlight project works as it is showing a datagrid of Employee objects. I have not added a DataForm and when I modify the "name" property of one of my Employee objects, I get the error: This EntitySet of type 'TestEmployeesApp.Web.Employee' does not support the 'Edit' operation. The error occurs on validatingProperty() on the class Entity on the client side. I checked the metadata on the server side, and all my properties have the attribute Editable(true). I am using Silverlight 3 with VS2008. JD
