  • OpenSolaris with no gcc vs. Nexenta with no ext3

    - by Jake Wharton
    I'm attempting to migrate my server from linux to a Solaris variant during a hardware upgrade. The machine is based around an Abit AN-M2 board which has an NForce chipset. I have what seems to be a chicken-and-egg problem of sorts: OpenSolaris 2009.06 does not recognize the NIC and I cannot compile the drivers for it as it also lacks gcc. I haven't tested as to whether or not I can mount an ext3 partition yet but its moot if there is no networking. Nexenta 3.0b3 recognizes the NIC but I cannot get the ext3 drives mounted due to FSWfspart refusing to install. I do not know much about Solaris but I wager this is due to the fact that Nexenta is based around Debian as well. While I am reusing the mobo/CPU combo, I did just spent a lot of money on the other hardware around it and would very much like to get it up and running smoothly and quickly. Does anyone have any suggestions that are not: Get a new mobo/CPU Run another OS Use alternate NIC

  • How can I limit access to a particular class to one caller at a time in a web service?

    - by MusiGenesis
    I have a web service method in which I create a particular type of object, use it for a few seconds, and then dispose it. Because of problems arising from multiple threads creating and using instances of this class at the same time, I need to restrict the method so that only one caller at a time ever has one of these objects. To do this, I am creating a private static object: private static object _lock = new object(); ... and then inside the web service method I do this around the critical code: lock (_lock) { using (DangerousObject do = new DangerousObject()) { do.MakeABigMess(); do.CleanItUp(); } } I'm not sure this is working, though. Do I have this right? Will this code ensure that only one instance of DangerousObject is instantiated and in use at a time?

  • Is there any way, short of "copy and paste inheritence" to share a .net class with a Silverlight app

    - by Jekke
    I have a project in two parts: a Silverlight front end and a WCF duplex service. Ideally, I would like to pass a message of a custom type (call it TradeOffer) from the WCF service to be consumed by the Silverlight application. When I try to, I get an error that indicates I can't pass an object of an unknown type across the wire like that and that, maybe, I could do so if I used the InternalsVisibleTo attribute on the server component. I'm not sure if that would work in this environment and know it would be messy in development. I originally put the message definition in a library to be used by both the service and the client, but couldn't add a reference to the library from the Silverlight client (because it's not a Silverlight assembly.) Is there some way I can access the definition of a message class from both the Silverlight client that consumes it and the service that publishes it without using the InternalsVisibleTo attribute or should I write the application another way?

  • Apache vs Lighttpd: Weird behavior in reverse proxy mode.

    - by northox
    Context: I have an Apache server running in reverse proxy mode in front of a Tomcat java server. It handle HTTP and HTTPS and send those request back and forth to the Tomcat server on an internal HTTP port. Goal: I'm trying to replace the reverse proxy with Lighttpd. Problem: while asking for the same HTTPS url, while using Apache as the reverse proxy, the Tomcat server redirect (302) to an HTTPS page but with Lighttpd it redirect to the same page in HTTP (not HTTPS). Question: What does Lighttpd could do different in order to have a different result from the backend server? In theory, using Apache or Lighttpd server as a reverse proxy should not change anything... but it does. Any idea? I'll try to find something by sniffing the traffic on the backend tomcat server.

  • Dynamically writing page titles and active classes with php

    - by toomanyairmiles
    For some time now I've been using the following code to dynamically write in html page titles and add an active class to menu items. Is this still a good why to achieve this or are there better/smarter/optimal ways of achieving the same thing? <?php echo (basename($_SERVER['SCRIPT_FILENAME'])=='contact.php'? 'class="active"' : '');?> Menu example <ul id="nav"> <li><a href="index.php" target="_parent" <?php echo (basename($_SERVER['SCRIPT_FILENAME'])=='index.php'? • Extracting table rows with a particular attribute from an HTML File, using HTMLAgilityPack

    - by Soham
    Consider this html snippet: <tr> <td valign=top class="tim_new"><a href="/stocks/company_info/pricechart.php?sc_did=MI42" class="tim_new">3M India</a></td> <td class="tim_new" valign=top><a href='/stocks/marketstats/indcomp.php?optex=NSE&indcode=Diversified' class=tim>Diversified</a></td> <td class="tim_new" align=right valign=top>2,487.25</td> <td class="tim_new" align=right valign=top><font color=#16a903>187.25</font></td> <td class="tim_new" align=right valign=top><font color=#16a903>8.14</font></td> <td class="tim_new" align=right valign=top>2,801.90</td> <td class="tim_new" align=right valign=top>0.06</td> </tr> Realize these three things: The HTML file from which this snippet has been taken, contains multiple number of HTML tables. The table from which this snippet has been extracted doesnt contain only rows of the shown format, but also of other formats like this, for example: <tr><td colspan=7><img src="http://img1.moneycontrol.com/images/blank.gif"height="5"></td></tr>` This same table contains multiple rows of the format which I need to extract. So given this scenario, is it possible to run a code, which extracts, the link with the class name = "tim_new"? Help Appreciated, Soham

  • Problem with persisting a collection, that references an internal property, at design time in winfor

    - by Jules
    ETA: Jesus, I'm sick of this. This problem was specifically about persisting an interface collection but now on further testing it doesn't work for a normal collection. Here's some even simpler code: Public Class Anger End Class Public Class MyButton Inherits Button Private _Annoyance As List(Of Anger) <DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Content)> _ Public ReadOnly Property Annoyance() As List(Of Anger) Get Return _Annoyance End Get End Property Private _InternalAnger As Anger <DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Content)> _ Public ReadOnly Property InternalAnger() As Anger Get Return Me._InternalAnger End Get End Property Public Sub New() Me._Annoyance = New List(Of Anger) Me._InternalAnger = New Anger Me._Annoyance.Add(Me._InternalAnger) End Sub End Class The designer screws up the persistence code in the same way as the original problem. ---- Original Problem The easiest way to explain this problem is to show you some code: Public Interface IAmAnnoyed End Interface Public Class IAmAnnoyedCollection Inherits ObjectModel.Collection(Of IAmAnnoyed) End Class Public Class Anger Implements IAmAnnoyed End Class Public Class MyButton Inherits Button Private _Annoyance As IAmAnnoyedCollection <DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Content)> _ Public ReadOnly Property Annoyance() As IAmAnnoyedCollection Get Return _Annoyance End Get End Property Private _InternalAnger As Anger <DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Content)> _ Public ReadOnly Property InternalAnger() As Anger Get Return Me._InternalAnger End Get End Property Public Sub New() Me._Annoyance = New IAmAnnoyedCollection Me._InternalAnger = New Anger Me._Annoyance.Add(Me._InternalAnger) End Sub End Class And this is the code that the designer generates: Private Sub InitializeComponent() Dim Anger1 As Anger = New Anger Me.MyButton1 = New MyButton ' 'MyButton1 ' Me.MyButton1.Annoyance.Add(Anger1) // Should be: Me.MyButton1.Annoyance.Add(Me.MyButton1.InternalAnger) ' 'Form1 ' Me.Controls.Add(Me.MyButton1) End Sub I've added a comment to the above to show how the code should have been generated. Now, if I dispense with the interface and just have a collection of Anger, then it persists correctly. Any ideas?

  • Problem with interface implementation in partial classes.

    - by Bas
    I have a question regarding a problem with L2S, Autogenerated DataContext and the use of Partial Classes. I have abstracted my datacontext and for every table I use, I'm implementing a class with an interface. In the code below you can see I have the Interface and two partial classes. The first class is just there to make sure the class in the auto-generated datacontext inherets Interface. The other autogenerated class makes sure the method from Interface is implemented. namespace PartialProject.objects { public interface Interface { Interface Instance { get; } } //To make sure the autogenerated code inherits Interface public partial class Class : Interface { } //This is autogenerated public partial class Class { public Class Instance { get { return this.Instance; } } } } Now my problem is that the method implemented in the autogenerated class gives the following error: - Property 'Instance' cannot implement property from interface 'PartialProject.objects.Interface'. Type should be 'PartialProjects.objects.Interface'. <- Any idea how this error can be resolved? Keep in mind that I can't edit anything in the autogenerated code. Thanks in advance!

  • Update time descriptions every minute using jquery/javascript

    - by Amy Neville
    I have created the following code to update the text contents of all spans like this every minute. There are numerous of these spans on the page which all need to be updated every minute: <span unix="1372263005" class="time_ago">4 minutes ago</span> The code is as follows: window.setInterval(function(){ var unix = $(".time_ago").text(); var now = new Date().getTime(); var amount = 0; var difference = 0; difference = now - parseInt(unix); if (difference < 60) { $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">a few seconds ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 120) { $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">a minute ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 3600) { amount = floor(difference / 60); $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">' + amount + ' minutes ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 7200) { $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">an hour ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 86400) { amount = floor(difference / 3600); $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">' + amount + ' hours ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 172800) { $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">a day ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 2635200) { amount = floor(difference / 86400); $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">' + amount + ' days ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 5270400) { $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">a month ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 31622400) { amount = floor(difference / 2635200); $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">' + amount + ' months ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 63244800) { $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">a year ago</span>'); } else (difference >= 63244800) { amount = floor(difference / 31622400); $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">' + amount + ' years ago</span>'); } return false; }, 60); EDIT) Ok, now I have made some changes on your advice but it's changing the span texts to 43351 years. Any ideas why it is doing that?

  • What is Ruby's analog to Python Metaclasses?

    - by Sean Copenhaver
    Python has the idea of metaclasses that, if I understand correctly, allow you to modify an object of a class at the moment of construction. You are not modifying the class, but instead the object that is to be created then initialized. Python (at least as of 3.0 I believe) also has the idea of class decorators. Again if I understand correctly, class decorators allow the modifying of the class definition at the moment it is being declared. Now I believe there is an equivalent feature or features to the class decorator in Ruby, but I'm currently unaware of something equivalent to metaclasses. I'm sure you can easily pump any Ruby object through some functions and do what you will to it, but is there a feature in the language that sets that up like metaclasses do? So again, Does Ruby have something similar to Python's metaclasses? Edit I was off on the metaclasses for Python. A metaclass and a class decorator do very similar things it appears. They both modify the class when it is defined but in different manners. Hopefully a Python guru will come in and explain better on these features in Python. But a class or the parent of a class can implement a __new__(cls[,..]) function that does customize the construction of the object before it is initialized with __init__(self[,..]).

  • Why doesn't this jQuery snippet work in IE8 like it does in Chrome/Firefox (live demo included)?

    - by Siracuse
    I asked for help earlier on Stackoverflow involving highlighting spans with the same Class when a mouse hovers over any Span with that same Class. It is working great: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2709686/how-can-i-add-a-border-to-all-the-elements-that-share-a-class-when-the-mouse-has $('span[class]').hover( function() { $('.' + $(this).attr('class')).css('background-color','green'); }, function() { $('.' + $(this).attr('class')).css('background-color','yellow'); } ) Here is an example of it in usage: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/638285/0utput.html However, it doesn't appear to work properly in IE8, while it DOES work in Chrome/Firefox. Here is a screenshot of it in IE8, with my mouse hovered over the " min) { min" section in the middle. As you can see, it highlighted the span that the mouse is hovering over perfectly fine. However, it has also highlighted some random spans above and below it that don't have the same class! Only the span's with the same Class as the one where the mouse is over should be highlighted green. In this screenshot, only that middle green section should be green. Here is a screenshot of it working properly in Firefox/Chrome with my mouse in the exact same position: This screenshot is correct as the span that the mouse is over (the green section) is the only one in this section that shares that class. Why is IE8 randomly green-highlighting spans when it shouldn't be (they don't share the same class) using my little jQuery snippet? Again, if you want to see it live I have it here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/638285/0utput.html

  • Static lib that links another static lib and qmake? Odd linking error

    - by Dan O
    I have two qt .pro files, both using the lib TEMPLATE and staticlib CONFIG. The first library (lets call it 'core') is a dependency for the second lib (I'll call it 'foo'). In fact, there's a class in foo that extends a class in core, I will call this class Bar. When I instantiate the class (which is defined and implemented in foo, but extends a class (Bar) from core) in another project (not a lib) I get the following linking error: /usr/bin/ld: Undefined symbols: Bar::Bar() Basically, the linker cannot find the class in the core lib that has been derived in the foo lib, but ONLY when I instantiate the class in a third project that is using both libs. Is this behaviour expected? Regards, Dan O Update: I fixed it by directly invoking the Bars constructor in the third project before using derived class... does anyone know why I need to do this?

  • How do I do an AJAX post to a url within a class library but not the same IIS Web Application?

  • How do I specify the block object / predicate required by NSDictionary's keysOfEntriesPassingTest ?

    - by Todd
    For learning (not practical -- yet) purposes, I'd like to use the following method on an NSDictionary to give me back a set of keys that have values using a test I've defined. Unfortunately have no idea how to specify the predicate. NSDictionary keysOfEntriesPassingTest: - (NSSet *)keysOfEntriesPassingTest:(BOOL (^)(id key, id obj, BOOL *stop))predicate Let's say for example all my values are NSURLs, and I'd like to get back all the URLs that are on port 8080. Here's my stab at coding that -- though it doesn't really make sense to me that it'd be correct: NSSet * mySet = [myDict keysOfEntriesPassingTest:^(id key, id obj, BOOL *stop) { if( [[obj port] isEqual: [NSNumber numberWithInt: 8080]]) { return key; }] And that's because I get back the following compiler error: incompatible block pointer types initializing 'void (^)(struct objc_object *, struct objc_object *, BOOL *)', expected 'BOOL (^)(struct objc_object *, struct objc_object *, BOOL *)' What am I missing? I'd appreciate a pointer at some docs that go into more detail about the "Block object" that the predicate is supposed to be. Thanks!

  • Default template parameters with forward declaration

    - by Seth Johnson
    Is it possible to forward declare a class that uses default arguments without specifying or knowing those arguments? For example, I would like to declare a boost::ptr_list< TYPE > in a Traits class without dragging the entire Boost library into every file that includes the traits. I would like to declare namespace boost { template<class T> class ptr_list< T >; }, but that doesn't work because it doesn't exactly match the true class declaration: template < class T, class CloneAllocator = heap_clone_allocator, class Allocator = std::allocator<void*> > class ptr_list { ... }; Are my options only to live with it or to specify boost::ptr_list< TYPE, boost::heap_clone_allocator, std::allocator<void*> in my traits class? (If I use the latter, I'll also have to forward declare boost::heap_clone_allocator and include <memory>, I suppose.) I've looked through Stroustrup's book, SO, and the rest of the internet and haven't found a solution. Usually people are concerned about not including STL, and the solution is "just include the STL headers." However, Boost is a much more massive and compiler-intensive library, so I'd prefer to leave it out unless I absolutely have to.

  • Mysql - Help me alter this search query to get desired results

    - by sandeepan-nath
    Following is a dump of the tables and data needed to answer understand the system:- The system consists of tutors and classes. The data in the table All_Tag_Relations stores tag relations for each tutor registered and each class created by a tutor. The tag relations are used for searching classes. CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `Tags` ( `id_tag` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, `tag` varchar(255) default NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id_tag`), UNIQUE KEY `tag` (`tag`), KEY `id_tag` (`id_tag`), KEY `tag_2` (`tag`), KEY `tag_3` (`tag`), KEY `tag_4` (`tag`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1; INSERT INTO `Tags` (`id_tag`, `tag`) VALUES (1, 'Sandeepan'), (2, 'Nath'), (3, 'first'), (4, 'class'), (5, 'new'), (6, 'Bob'), (7, 'Cratchit'); CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `All_Tag_Relations` ( `id_tag` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0', `id_tutor` int(10) default NULL, `id_wc` int(10) unsigned default NULL, KEY `All_Tag_Relations_FKIndex1` (`id_tag`), KEY `id_wc` (`id_wc`), KEY `id_tag` (`id_tag`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1; INSERT INTO `All_Tag_Relations` (`id_tag`, `id_tutor`, `id_wc`) VALUES (1, 1, NULL), (2, 1, NULL), (3, 1, 1), (4, 1, 1), (6, 2, NULL), (7, 2, NULL), (5, 2, 2), (4, 2, 2); Following is my query:- This query searches for "first class" (tag for first = 3 and for class = 4, in Tags table) and returns all those classes such that both the terms first and class are present in the class name. SELECT wtagrels.id_wc,SUM(DISTINCT( wtagrels.id_tag =3)) AS key_1_total_matches, SUM(DISTINCT( wtagrels.id_tag =4)) AS key_2_total_matches FROM all_tag_relations AS wtagrels WHERE ( wtagrels.id_tag =3 OR wtagrels.id_tag =4 ) GROUP BY wtagrels.id_wc HAVING key_1_total_matches = 1 AND key_2_total_matches = 1 LIMIT 0, 20 And it returns the class with id_wc = 1. But, I want the search to show all those classes such that all the search terms are present in the class name or its tutor name So that searching "Sandeepan class" (wtagrels.id_tag = 1,4) or "Sandeepan Nath" also returns the class with id_wc=1. And Searching. Searching "Bob First" should not return any classes. Please modify the above query or suggest a new query, if possible using MyIsam - fulltext search, but somehow help me get the result.

  • ASUS EAH4670 vs. ASUS EAH4670 V2 -- Whats the difference?

    - by roosteronacid
    I've been offered to buy a used ASUS EAH4670/DI/1GD3 graphics card. I went price-scouting to see if the offer I was given was fair, and I found out that there's a similar card, labelled ASUS EAH4670/DI/1GD3 V2. Question is; What's the difference? What's with the V2? What does it mean? Is it just a BIOS upgrade that I can do myself? Updated driver-software which I can download myself? Or is the card actually a better version--faster, more reliable (physical changes to the print), etc.?

  • Problem with std::map and std::pair

After some replacement and editing in the soup, the body is essentially - <Text...></Text> # This replaces <a href..> tags but automatically creates the </Text> <p class=norm ...</p> <p class=norm ...</p> <Text...></Text> <p class=norm ...</p> and so forth. I need to "move" the <p> tags to be children to <Text> or know how to suppress the </Text>. I want - <Text...> <p class=norm ...</p> <p class=norm ...</p> </Text> <Text...> <p class=norm ...</p> </Text> I've tried using item.insert and item.append but I'm thinking there must be a more elegant solution. for item in soup.findAll(['p','span']): if item.name == 'span' and item.has_key('class') and item['class'] == 'section': xBCV = short_2_long(item._getAttrMap().get('value','')) if currentnode: pass currentnode = Tag(soup,'Text', attrs=[('TypeOf', 'Section'),... ]) item.replaceWith(currentnode) # works but creates end tag elif item.name == 'p' and item.has_key('class') and item['class'] == 'norm': childcdatanode = None for ahref in item.findAll('a'): if childcdatanode: pass newlink = filter_hrefs(str(ahref)) childcdatanode = Tag(soup, newlink) ahref.replaceWith(childcdatanode) Thanks
