  • Fix for OpenSolaris with no gcc vs. Nexenta with no ext3

    I'm attempting to migrate my server from linux to a Solaris variant during a hardware upgrade. The machine is based around an Abit AN-M2 board which has an NForce chipset. I have what seems to be a chicken-and-egg problem of sorts: OpenSolaris 2009.06 does not recognize the NIC and I cannot compile the drivers for it as it also lacks gcc. I haven't tested as to whether or not I can mount an ext3 partition yet but its moot if there is no networking. Nexenta 3.0b3 recognizes the NIC but I cannot get the ext3 drives mounted due to FSWfspart refusing to install. I do not know much about Solaris but I wager this is due to the fact that Nexenta is based around Debian as well. While I am reusing the mobo/CPU combo, I did just spent a lot of money on the other hardware around it and would very much like to get it up and running smoothly and quickly. Does anyone have any suggestions that are not: Get a new mobo/CPU Run another OS Use alternate NIC

After some replacement and editing in the soup, the body is essentially - <Text...></Text> # This replaces <a href..> tags but automatically creates the </Text> <p class=norm ...</p> <p class=norm ...</p> <Text...></Text> <p class=norm ...</p> and so forth. I need to "move" the <p> tags to be children to <Text> or know how to suppress the </Text>.     i have to make the colorpiker tool of flex, to be a customized one, i beleive you have seen the color picker tool of flex, when you click on the colorpicker, a swatch panel gets open, right?? now in that swatch, there are three compoenents, one is thw colorbox(on top left), beside right to this is the text field holding the hex code of the color and below these two tools, is the colors present in the small rectangles, now my need is this, i want to add three more buttons on the top empty space after textfield, so that structure of the colors pciker looks like this colorbox | textfield | button1 | button2 | button3 color rectangles, showing all default colors i beleive u understood, what i meant here, so plzz help me out in making a custom colorpciker class, thanx Namaste

    Hello, I have a computershop myself, and I repair computers. But one of the things I really don't know (yet) is the performace od audio cards for music creation with midi. I have searched and searched and came up with some good reviews, but after browsing for a couple of hours I could't see the trees trough the forrest :-D (it's a dutch expression) At one moment I thought the M-Audio - Delta 1010LT would be a good PCIe card, later on I read that this card was released years ago.     Is it possible to forward declare a class that uses default arguments without specifying or knowing those arguments? For example, I would like to declare a boost::ptr_list< TYPE > in a Traits class without dragging the entire Boost library into every file that includes the traits. I would like to declare namespace boost { template<class T> class ptr_list< T >; }, but that doesn't work because it doesn't exactly match the true class declaration: template < class T, class CloneAllocator = heap_clone_allocator, class Allocator = std::allocator<void*> > class ptr_list { ... }; Are my options only to live with it or to specify boost::ptr_list< TYPE, boost::heap_clone_allocator, std::allocator<void*> in my traits class? (If I use the latter, I'll also have to forward declare boost::heap_clone_allocator and include <memory>, I suppose.) I've looked through Stroustrup's book, SO, and the rest of the internet and haven't found a solution. Usually people are concerned about not including STL, and the solution is "just include the STL headers." However, Boost is a much more massive and compiler-intensive library, so I'd prefer to leave it out unless I absolutely have to.

I do not have enough experience to speak if this is enough criteria to use rotatelogs over logrotate.   • Reinstall of Microsoft Office 2010 beta isn't prompting me for upgrade vs. side-by-side installation

    I'm running Office 2007 on Windows 7. When I ran the Microsoft Office 2010 beta installation, it asked if I wanted to upgrade the existing 2007 installation or install along side 2007. I later uninstalled 2010 and rebooted. When I re-ran the Office 2010 setup program, it no longer asked if I wanted to upgrade or install side by side. It just did a side by side install by default. How can I get it to re-prompt me, as I'd now like to upgrade my 2007 install.

The problem is, if I forget to enter quantity value before I pull product price data or if I change the quantity field later, the final total price is not updated. I've looked in the book and online, but I don't seem to understand. I thought static was created at compile time and dynamic at runtime, but I might be mistaken this with memory allocation.     Now that C++ development has become second nature to me, do I have to start from scratch with C#? Since the beginning of Visual Studio, there has been easy way to describe the shape of a Dialog (now called a Form) in the resource file and then use a wizard to create the corresponding C++ code. I kind of remember that in MFC it was pretty much a no-brainer to create a custom dialog with all the components you want and then all the associated code. If I have a C# app that has many forms that I want to bring to the screen based on the user's menu selections, how do I create a class associated with a windows form?

    I am running an Intel P4 prescott with HT on my home server (linux file server on encrypted disks on software-RAID5 and virtualisation host for three further machines). The performance for this purpose is really okay. When the system is idle it consumes about 140W power. I am considering buying a new mainboard for an e.g. Intel i3-2100T or an Intel i5-2390T. Both are low power CPUs with a TDP about 40W. Has anyone experiences how much power a recent mainboard with one of these CPUs an 3-4 'green-energy' disks (6W each) consumes? Do I get underneath the 100W threshold? What's about the performance of these low power CPUs? Are they comparable to an Intel P4 with HT? regards, walter

Does the objective-c class encapsulate the c function removing change of name-clash or is the c function simply dumped into the global scope of the whole objective-c program?

    I'm having difficulties finding out how to implement a 'configurable' behavior in a factory class in PHP. I've got at class, which takes another class as an argument in its constructor. The argument class could take a number of arguments in its constructor. An instance of my main class could look something like this $instance = new MyClass(new OtherClass(20, true)); $instance2 = new MyClass(new DifferentClass('test')); This is rather clumsy and has a number of problems and therefore I would like to move this into a factory class. The problem is that this factory somehow needs to know how to instantiate the argument class, as this class can have any number of arguments in the constructor. Preferably I would like to be able to do something like this $instance = Factory::build('OtherClass'); $instance2 = Factory::build('DifferentClass'); And let the factory retrieve the arguments from a configuration array or similar. Is there a proper solution to this problem?

    Situation: I have an Eclipse RCP Application, which I am trying to build with tycho plugin for Eclipse. When I am executing my Eclipse Application inside of the IDe - the Application is executed normally. When using tycho to build the Application - the following error is thrown: The type org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Button cannot be resolved. It is indirectly referenced from required .class files What I did : In other cases where a "missing requirenments" exception was thrown, which I found - a missing transitive plugin-dependency was the reason. In my case an SWT widget "Button" is missing, so I am trying to import swt. SWT is platform dependant so I am importing swt inside of the product, as described here. Anyway, during compilation the error occurs again. Question: Do someone have any Idea, how to solve this Problem?

    I'm making a server library in which the packet association is done by enum. public enum ServerOperationCode : byte { LoginResponse = 0x00, SelectionResponse = 0x01, BlahBlahResponse = 0x02 } public enum ClientOperationCode : byte { LoginRequest = 0x00, SelectionRequest = 0x01, BlahBlahRequest = 0x02 } That works fine when you're working in your own project - you can compare which enum member is returned (i.e. if (packet.OperationCode == ClientOperationCode.LoginRequest)). However, since this is a class library, the user will have to define its own enum. Therefore, I have two enums to add as "abstract" - ServerOperationCode and ClientOperationCode. I know it's not possible to implement abstract enums in C#. How would I go doing this?

    Is there an easy way in C# to read a properties file that has each property on a separate line followed by an equals sign and the value, such as the following: ServerName=prod-srv1 Port=8888 CustomProperty=Any value In Java, the Properties class handles this parsing easily: Properties myProperties=new Properties(); FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream (new File("CustomProps.properties")); myProperties.load(fis); System.out.println(myProperties.getProperty("ServerName")); System.out.println(myProperties.getProperty("CustomProperty")); I can easily load the file in C# and parse each line, but is there a built in way to easily get a property without having to parse out the key name and equals sign myself? The C# information I have found seems to always favor XML, but this is an existing file that I don't control and I would prefer to keep it in the existing format as it will require more time to get another team to change it to XML than parsing the existing file.

    I have a dilemma. I've used DI (read: factory) to provide core components for a homebrew ORM. The container provides database connections, DAO's,Mappers and their resultant Domain Objects on request. Here's a basic outline of the Mappers and Domain Object classes class Mapper{ public function __constructor($DAO){ $this->DAO = $DAO; } public function load($id){ if(isset(Monitor::members[$id]){ return Monitor::members[$id]; $values = $this->DAO->selectStmt($id); //field mapping process omitted for brevity $Object = new Object($values); return $Object; } } class User(){ public function setName($string){ $this->name = $string; //mark modified by means fair or foul } } The ORM also contains a class (Monitor) based on the Unit of Work pattern i.e. class Monitor(){ private static array modified; private static array dirty; public function markClean($class); public function markModified($class); } The ORM class itself simply co-ordinates resources extracted from the DI container. So, to instantiate a new User object: $Container = new DI_Container; $ORM = new ORM($Container); $User = $ORM->load('user',1); //at this point the container instantiates a mapper class //and passes a database connection to it via the constructor //the mapper then takes the second argument and loads the user with that id $User->setName('Rumpelstiltskin');//at this point, User must mark itself as "modified" My question is this. At the point when a user sets values on a Domain Object class, I need to mark the class as "dirty" in the Monitor class. I have one of three options as I can see it 1: Pass an instance of the Monitor class to the Domain Object. I noticed this gets marked as recursive in FirePHP - i.e. $this-Monitor-markModified($this) 2: Instantiate the Monitor directly in the Domain Object - does this break DI? 3: Make the Monitor methods static, and call them from inside the Domain Object - this breaks DI too doesn't it? What would be your recommended course of action (other than use an existing ORM, I'm doing this for fun...)

    I'm attempting the example from the excellent "How Do I" video for MVVM by Todd Miranda found in MSDN. I'm trying to adapt the example for my learning purpose. In the example, he has a ViewModel called EmployeeListViewModel. Now if I want to include Departments, should I create another ViewModel such as DepartmentListViewModel? The example has EmployeeRepository as the Data Source. In my case, I'm trying to use an Entity object as the datasource (Employees.edmx in Model folder and EmployeeRepository.cs in DataAccess folder). If I want to display the list of Departments, should I create a separate class called DepartmentRepository and put all department related method definitions there? What if I want to retrieve the employee name and their department's name together? Where should I place the methods for this? I'm very new to WPF and MVVM and please let me know if any of the above needs to be re-phrased. Thank you for all the help.

I have a class 'Core' class Core { public: static QString get_file_content(QString filename); static void setMainwindow(MainWindow *w); private: static MainWindow *main_window; }; and class 'MainWindow' in namespace Ui: namespace Ui { class MainWindow; } class MainWindow : public QMainWindow { Q_OBJECT public: MainWindow(QWidget *parent = 0); ~MainWindow(); private: Ui::MainWindow *ui; }; In MainWindow constructor I make MainWindow::MainWindow(QWidget *parent) : QMainWindow(parent), ui(new Ui::MainWindow) { ui->setupUi(this); Core::setMainwindow(this); } and gets error mainwindow.cpp:8: error: no matching function for call to 'Core::setMainwindow(MainWindow* const)' Of cource, i include core.h with declaration of 'Core' class. That's occurs only on setMainwindow method. So the questions is - why Core class method setMainwindow() is invisible in MainWindow class?

  • Can I use the CSS :visited pseudo class on 'wildcard' links?

    Let's say I have a site with multiple links as follows: www.example.com/product/1 www.example.com/product/2 www.example.com/product/3 I also append tracking info to links from time to time so that I can see how my site is being used, e.g, if somebody visits the products page from the product browser I would set a ref parameter: www.example.com/product/1&ref=pb www.example.com/product/2&ref=pb www.example.com/product/3&ref=pb The problem with this is that if the user visits a link of the first type and then views a link of the second type then the :visited pseudo class doesn't seem to apply because the browser only seems to match on exact URLs. Is there any way to have "wildcards" apply to links in this sense, so that when the user sees either the first type or the second type of link that it is highlighted?
