  • Laplacian of gaussian filter use

    - by maximus
    This is a formula for LoG filtering: Also in applications with LoG filtering I see that function is called with only one parameter: sigma(s). I want to try LoG filtering using that formula (previous attempt was by gaussian filter and then laplacian filter with some filter-window size ) But looking at that formula I can't understand how the size of filter is connected with this formula, does it mean that the filter size is fixed? Can you explain how to use it?

  • How can I make the SmartGWT core smaller?

    - by Jon Anter
    I have recently written a Hello World application using SmartGWT and noticed that the size of the application is huge. In my case it is over 600kb just for that application. I think that size is obscene so I narrowed the culprit down to two core libraries, ISC_Core and ISC_Foundation which combine for a total size of 649kb. Is there anyway to reduce the bloat of these libraries? Any help would be appreciated.

  • C#: Optional Parameters - Pros and Pitfalls

    - by James Michael Hare
    When Microsoft rolled out Visual Studio 2010 with C# 4, I was very excited to learn how I could apply all the new features and enhancements to help make me and my team more productive developers. Default parameters have been around forever in C++, and were intentionally omitted in Java in favor of using overloading to satisfy that need as it was though that having too many default parameters could introduce code safety issues.  To some extent I can understand that move, as I’ve been bitten by default parameter pitfalls before, but at the same time I feel like Java threw out the baby with the bathwater in that move and I’m glad to see C# now has them. This post briefly discusses the pros and pitfalls of using default parameters.  I’m avoiding saying cons, because I really don’t believe using default parameters is a negative thing, I just think there are things you must watch for and guard against to avoid abuses that can cause code safety issues. Pro: Default Parameters Can Simplify Code Let’s start out with positives.  Consider how much cleaner it is to reduce all the overloads in methods or constructors that simply exist to give the semblance of optional parameters.  For example, we could have a Message class defined which allows for all possible initializations of a Message: 1: public class Message 2: { 3: // can either cascade these like this or duplicate the defaults (which can introduce risk) 4: public Message() 5: : this(string.Empty) 6: { 7: } 8:  9: public Message(string text) 10: : this(text, null) 11: { 12: } 13:  14: public Message(string text, IDictionary<string, string> properties) 15: : this(text, properties, -1) 16: { 17: } 18:  19: public Message(string text, IDictionary<string, string> properties, long timeToLive) 20: { 21: // ... 22: } 23: }   Now consider the same code with default parameters: 1: public class Message 2: { 3: // can either cascade these like this or duplicate the defaults (which can introduce risk) 4: public Message(string text = "", IDictionary<string, string> properties = null, long timeToLive = -1) 5: { 6: // ... 7: } 8: }   Much more clean and concise and no repetitive coding!  In addition, in the past if you wanted to be able to cleanly supply timeToLive and accept the default on text and properties above, you would need to either create another overload, or pass in the defaults explicitly.  With named parameters, though, we can do this easily: 1: var msg = new Message(timeToLive: 100);   Pro: Named Parameters can Improve Readability I must say one of my favorite things with the default parameters addition in C# is the named parameters.  It lets code be a lot easier to understand visually with no comments.  Think how many times you’ve run across a TimeSpan declaration with 4 arguments and wondered if they were passing in days/hours/minutes/seconds or hours/minutes/seconds/milliseconds.  A novice running through your code may wonder what it is.  Named arguments can help resolve the visual ambiguity: 1: // is this days/hours/minutes/seconds (no) or hours/minutes/seconds/milliseconds (yes) 2: var ts = new TimeSpan(1, 2, 3, 4); 3:  4: // this however is visually very explicit 5: var ts = new TimeSpan(days: 1, hours: 2, minutes: 3, seconds: 4);   Or think of the times you’ve run across something passing a Boolean literal and wondered what it was: 1: // what is false here? 2: var sub = CreateSubscriber(hostname, port, false); 3:  4: // aha! Much more visibly clear 5: var sub = CreateSubscriber(hostname, port, isBuffered: false);   Pitfall: Don't Insert new Default Parameters In Between Existing Defaults Now let’s consider a two potential pitfalls.  The first is really an abuse.  It’s not really a fault of the default parameters themselves, but a fault in the use of them.  Let’s consider that Message constructor again with defaults.  Let’s say you want to add a messagePriority to the message and you think this is more important than a timeToLive value, so you decide to put messagePriority before it in the default, this gives you: 1: public class Message 2: { 3: public Message(string text = "", IDictionary<string, string> properties = null, int priority = 5, long timeToLive = -1) 4: { 5: // ... 6: } 7: }   Oh boy have we set ourselves up for failure!  Why?  Think of all the code out there that could already be using the library that already specified the timeToLive, such as this possible call: 1: var msg = new Message(“An error occurred”, myProperties, 1000);   Before this specified a message with a TTL of 1000, now it specifies a message with a priority of 1000 and a time to live of -1 (infinite).  All of this with NO compiler errors or warnings. So the rule to take away is if you are adding new default parameters to a method that’s currently in use, make sure you add them to the end of the list or create a brand new method or overload. Pitfall: Beware of Default Parameters in Inheritance and Interface Implementation Now, the second potential pitfalls has to do with inheritance and interface implementation.  I’ll illustrate with a puzzle: 1: public interface ITag 2: { 3: void WriteTag(string tagName = "ITag"); 4: } 5:  6: public class BaseTag : ITag 7: { 8: public virtual void WriteTag(string tagName = "BaseTag") { Console.WriteLine(tagName); } 9: } 10:  11: public class SubTag : BaseTag 12: { 13: public override void WriteTag(string tagName = "SubTag") { Console.WriteLine(tagName); } 14: } 15:  16: public static class Program 17: { 18: public static void Main() 19: { 20: SubTag subTag = new SubTag(); 21: BaseTag subByBaseTag = subTag; 22: ITag subByInterfaceTag = subTag; 23:  24: // what happens here? 25: subTag.WriteTag(); 26: subByBaseTag.WriteTag(); 27: subByInterfaceTag.WriteTag(); 28: } 29: }   What happens?  Well, even though the object in each case is SubTag whose tag is “SubTag”, you will get: 1: SubTag 2: BaseTag 3: ITag   Why?  Because default parameter are resolved at compile time, not runtime!  This means that the default does not belong to the object being called, but by the reference type it’s being called through.  Since the SubTag instance is being called through an ITag reference, it will use the default specified in ITag. So the moral of the story here is to be very careful how you specify defaults in interfaces or inheritance hierarchies.  I would suggest avoiding repeating them, and instead concentrating on the layer of classes or interfaces you must likely expect your caller to be calling from. For example, if you have a messaging factory that returns an IMessage which can be either an MsmqMessage or JmsMessage, it only makes since to put the defaults at the IMessage level since chances are your user will be using the interface only. So let’s sum up.  In general, I really love default and named parameters in C# 4.0.  I think they’re a great tool to help make your code easier to read and maintain when used correctly. On the plus side, default parameters: Reduce redundant overloading for the sake of providing optional calling structures. Improve readability by being able to name an ambiguous argument. But remember to make sure you: Do not insert new default parameters in the middle of an existing set of default parameters, this may cause unpredictable behavior that may not necessarily throw a syntax error – add to end of list or create new method. Be extremely careful how you use default parameters in inheritance hierarchies and interfaces – choose the most appropriate level to add the defaults based on expected usage. • How to optimize simple linked server select query?

    - by tomaszs
    Hello, I have a table called Table with columns: ID (int, primary key, clustered, unique index) TEXT (varchar 15) on a MSSQL linked server called LS. Linked server is on the same server computer. And: When I call: SELECT ID, TEXT FROM OPENQUERY(LS, 'SELECT ID, TEXT FROM Table') It takes 400 ms. When I call: SELECT ID, TEXT FROM LS.dbo.Table It takes 200 ms And when I call the query directly while being at LS server: SELECT ID, TEXT FROM dbo.Table It takes 100 ms. In many places i've read that OPENQUERY is faster, but in this simple case it does not seem to work. What can I do to make this query faster when I call it from another server, not LS directly?

  • jQuery Selector Tester and Cheat Sheet

    - by SGWellens
    I've always appreciated these tools: Expresso and XPath Builder. They make designing regular expressions and XPath selectors almost fun! Did I say fun? I meant less painful. Being able to paste/load text and then interactively play with the search criteria is infinitely better than the code/compile/run/test cycle. It's faster and you get a much better feel for how the expressions work. So, I decided to make my own interactive tool to test jQuery selectors:  jQuery Selector Tester.   Here's a sneak peek: Note: There are some existing tools you may like better: http://www.woods.iki.fi/interactive-jquery-tester.html http://www.w3schools.com/jquery/trysel.asp?filename=trysel_basic&jqsel=p.intro,%23choose My tool is different: It is one page. You can save it and run it locally without a Web Server. It shows the results as a list of iterated objects instead of highlighted html. A cheat sheet is on the same page as the tester which is handy. I couldn't upload an .htm or .html file to this site so I hosted it on my personal site here: jQuery Selector Tester. Design Highlights: To make the interactive search work, I added a hidden div to the page: <!--Hidden div holds DOM elements for jQuery to search--><div id="HiddenDiv" style="display: none"></div> When ready to search, the searchable html text is copied into the hidden div…this renders the DOM tree in the hidden div: // get the html to search, insert it to the hidden divvar Html = $("#TextAreaHTML").val();$("#HiddenDiv").html(Html); When doing a search, I modify the search pattern to look only in the HiddenDiv. To do that, I put a space between the patterns.  The space is the Ancestor operator (see the Cheat Sheet): // modify search string to only search in our// hidden div and do the searchvar SearchString = "#HiddenDiv " + SearchPattern;try{    var $FoundItems = $(SearchString);}   Big Fat Stinking Faux Pas: I was about to publish this article when I made a big mistake: I tested the tool with Mozilla FireFox. It blowed up…it blowed up real good. In the past I’ve only had to target IE so this was quite a revelation. When I started to learn JavaScript, I was disgusted to see all the browser dependent code. Who wants to spend their time testing against different browsers and versions of browsers? Adding a bunch of ‘if-else’ code is a tedious and thankless task. I avoided client code as much as I could. Then jQuery came along and all was good. It was browser independent and freed us from the tedium of worrying about version N of the Acme browser. Right? Wrong! I had used outerHTML to display the selected elements. The problem is Mozilla FireFox doesn’t implement outerHTML. I replaced this: // encode the html markupvar OuterHtml = $('<div/>').text(this.outerHTML).html(); With this: // encode the html markupvar Html = $('<div>').append(this).html();var OuterHtml = $('<div/>').text(Html).html(); Another problem was that Mozilla FireFox doesn’t implement srcElement. I replaced this: var Row = e.srcElement.parentNode;  With this: var Row = e.target.parentNode; Another problem was the indexing. The browsers have different ways of indexing. I replaced this: // this cell has the search pattern  var Cell = Row.childNodes[1];   // put the pattern in the search box and search                    $("#TextSearchPattern").val(Cell.innerText);  With this: // get the correct cell and the text in the cell// place the text in the seach box and serachvar Cell = $(Row).find("TD:nth-child(2)");var CellText = Cell.text();$("#TextSearchPattern").val(CellText);   So much for the myth of browser independence. Was I overly optimistic and gullible? I don’t think so. And when I get my millions from the deposed Nigerian prince I sent money to, you’ll see that having faith is not futile. Notes: My goal was to have a single standalone file. I tried to keep the features and CSS to a minimum–adding only enough to make it useful and visually pleasing. When testing, I often thought there was a problem with the jQuery selector. Invariable it was invalid html code. If your results aren't what you expect, don't assume it's the jQuery selector pattern: The html may be invalid. To help in development and testing, I added a double-click handler to the rows in the Cheat Sheet table. If you double-click a row, the search pattern is put in the search box, a search is performed and the page is scrolled so you can see the results. I left the test html and code in the page. If you are using a CDN (non-local) version of the jQuery libraray, the designer in Visual Studio becomes extremely slow.  That's why there are two version of the library in the header and one is commented out. For reference, here is the jQuery documentation on selectors: http://api.jquery.com/category/selectors/ Here is a much more comprehensive list of CSS selectors (which jQuery uses): http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS2/selector.html I hope someone finds this useful. • Why Does .Hide()ing and .Show()ing Panels in wxPython Result in the Sizer Changing the Layout?

    - by MetaHyperBolic
    As referenced in my previous question, I am trying to make something slightly wizard-like in function. I have settled on a single frame with a sizer added to it. I build panels for each of the screens I would like users to see, add them to the frame's sizer, then switch between panels by .Hide()ing one panel, then calling a custom .ShowYourself() on the next panel. Obviously, I would like the buttons to remain in the same place as the user progresses through the process. I have linked together two panels in an infinite loop by their "Back" and "Next" buttons so you can see what is going on. The first panel looks great; tom10's code worked on that level, as it eschewed my initial, over-fancy attempt with borders flying every which way. And then the second panel seems to have shrunk down to the bare minimum. As we return to the first panel, the shrinkage has occurred here as well. Why does it look fine on the first panel, but not after I return there? Why is calling .Fit() necessary if I do not want a 10 pixel by 10 pixel wad of grey? And if it is necessary, why does .Fit() give inconsistent results? This infinite loop seems to characterize my experience with this: I fix the layout on a panel, only to find that switching ruins the layout for other panels. I fix that problem, by using sizer_h.Add(self.panel1, 0) instead of sizer_h.Add(self.panel1, 1, wx.EXPAND), and now my layouts are off again. So far, my "solution" is to add a mastersizer.SetMinSize((475, 592)) to each panel's master sizer (commented out in the code below). This is a cruddy solution because 1) I have had to find the numbers that work by trial and error (-5 pixels for the width, -28 pixels for the height). 2) I don't understand why the underlying issue still happens. What's the correct, non-ugly solution? Instead of adding all of the panels to the frame's sizer at once, should switching panels involve .Detach()ing that panel from the frame's sizer and then .Add()ing the next panel to the frame's sizer? Is there a .JustMakeThisFillThePanel() method hiding somewhere I have missed in both the wxWidgets and the wxPython documents online? I'm obviously missing something in my mental model of layout. Here's a TinyURL link, if I can't manage to embed the . Minimalist code pasted below. import wx import sys class My_App(wx.App): def OnInit(self): self.frame = My_Frame(None) self.frame.Show() self.SetTopWindow(self.frame) return True def OnExit(self): print 'Dying ...' class My_Frame(wx.Frame): def __init__(self, image, parent=None,id=-1, title='Generic Title', pos=wx.DefaultPosition, style=wx.CAPTION | wx.STAY_ON_TOP): size = (480, 620) wx.Frame.__init__(self, parent, id, 'Program Title', pos, size, style) sizer_h = wx.BoxSizer(wx.HORIZONTAL) self.panel0 = User_Interaction0(self) sizer_h.Add(self.panel0, 1, wx.EXPAND) self.panel1 = User_Interaction1(self) sizer_h.Add(self.panel1, 1, wx.EXPAND) self.SetSizer(sizer_h) self.panel0.ShowYourself() def ShutDown(self): self.Destroy() class User_Interaction0(wx.Panel): def __init__(self, parent, id=-1): wx.Panel.__init__(self, parent, id) # • Android: Custom ListAdapter extending BaseAdapter crashes on application launch.

    - by Danny

  • Bind9 as a caching resolver fails with mismatch ID on localhost but not external IP

    - by argibbs
    I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on a machine on my private network. I have bind9 installed (v9.8.1-P1) via aptitude, so it appears to have put all the bits in the right places and the service starts automatically. I plan on adding some zones later, but first I'm just trying to get it working as a caching resolver. I installed bind, configured it, and starting using it. Initially I thought it was working ok, but then I found some sites weren't being resolved. I've pinned it down to being linked to the size of the result and bind failing-over to TCP mode. So: I'm trying to find out why bind is failing when I query for domain info and the result is 512 bytes (causing a truncation and retry on TCP). Specifically it fails with ID mismatches if I point dig at localhost, but works when I query the machine's own IP (192.168.0.2). This appears to be backwards to the problem that most people have when using bind (fails on external ip, works on localhost). If I do dig @localhost google.com (which has a response of <512 bytes) then it works; I get no warnings, and plenty of output. $ dig @localhost google.com ; <<>> DiG 9.8.1-P1 <<>> @localhost google.com [snip lots of output] ;; Query time: 39 msec ;; SERVER: 127.0.0.1#53(127.0.0.1) ;; WHEN: Thu Oct 17 23:08:34 2013 ;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 495 If I do dig @localhost play.google.com (which has a larger response) then I get back something like: $ dig @localhost play.google.com ;; Truncated, retrying in TCP mode. ;; ERROR: ID mismatch: expected ID 3696, got 27130 This seems to be standard, documented behaviour - when the UDP response is large (here 'large' == 512 bytes) it falls back to TCP. The ID mismatch is not expected though. If I do dig @192.168.0.2 play.google.com then I still get the warning about using TCP mode, but it otherwise works $ dig @192.168.0.2 play.google.com ;; Truncated, retrying in TCP mode. ; <<>> DiG 9.8.1-P1 <<>> @192.168.0.2 play.google.com [snip most of the output] ;; Query time: 5 msec ;; SERVER: 192.168.0.2#53(192.168.0.2) ;; WHEN: Thu Oct 17 23:05:55 2013 ;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 521 At the moment I've not set up any zones in my local instance, so it's just acting as a caching resolver. My options config is pretty much unchanged from standard, I've got the following set: options { directory "/var/cache/bind"; allow-query { 192.168/16; 127.0.0.1; }; forwarders { 8.8.8.8; 8.8.4.4; }; dnssec-validation auto; edns-udp-size 4096 ; allow-transfer { any; }; auth-nxdomain no; # conform to RFC1035 listen-on-v6 { any; }; }; And my /etc/resolv.conf is just nameserver 127.0.0.1 search .local The problem definitely seems linked to the failover to TCP mode: if I do dig +bufsize=4096 @localhost play.google.com then it works; no warning about failover to TCP, no ID mismatch, and a standard looking result. To be honest, if there was a way to force bind to use a much larger UDP buffer, that'd probably be good enough for me, but all I've been able to find mention of is max-udp-size 4096 and that doesn't change the behaviour in any way. I've also tried setting edns-udp-size 512 in case the problem is some weird EDNS issue with my router (which seems unlikely since the +bufsize=4096 flag works fine). I've also tried dig +trace @localhost play.google.com; this works. No truncation/TCP warning, and a full result. I've also tried changing the servers used in the forwarder (e.g. to OpenDNS), but that makes no difference. There's one last data point: if I repetitively do dig @localhost play.google.com I don't always get an ID mismatch, but sometimes a REFUSED error. I'm much more likely to get a REFUSED error if I dig the non-localhost IP (192.168.0.2) first: $ dig @localhost play.google.com ;; Truncated, retrying in TCP mode. ; <<>> DiG 9.8.1-P1 <<>> @localhost play.google.com ; (1 server found) ;; global options: +cmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: REFUSED, id: 35104 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;play.google.com. IN A ;; Query time: 4 msec ;; SERVER: 127.0.0.1#53(127.0.0.1) ;; WHEN: Thu Oct 17 23:20:13 2013 ;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 33 Any insights or things to try would be much appreciated.

  • Using jQuery Live instead of jQuery Hover function

    - by hajan
    Let’s say we have a case where we need to create mouseover / mouseout functionality for a list which will be dynamically filled with data on client-side. We can use jQuery hover function, which handles the mouseover and mouseout events with two functions. See the following example: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head id="Head1" runat="server">     <title>jQuery Mouseover / Mouseout Demo</title>     <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.4.4.js"></script>     <style type="text/css">         .hover { color:Red; cursor:pointer;}     </style>     <script type="text/javascript">         $(function () {             $("li").hover(               function () {                   $(this).addClass("hover");               },               function () {                   $(this).removeClass("hover");               });         });     </script> </head> <body>     <form id="form2" runat="server">     <ul>         <li>Data 1</li>         <li>Data 2</li>         <li>Data 3</li>         <li>Data 4</li>         <li>Data 5</li>         <li>Data 6</li>     </ul>     </form> </body> </html> Now, if you have situation where you want to add new data dynamically... Lets say you have a button to add new item in the list. Add the following code right bellow the </ul> tag <input type="text" id="txtItem" /> <input type="button" id="addNewItem" value="Add New Item" /> And add the following button click functionality: //button add new item functionality $("#addNewItem").click(function (event) {     event.preventDefault();     $("<li>" + $("#txtItem").val() + "</li>").appendTo("ul"); }); The mouse over effect won't work for the newly added items. Therefore, we need to use live or delegate function. These both do the same job. The main difference is that for some cases delegate is considered a bit faster, and can be used in chaining. In our case, we can use both. I will use live function. $("li").live("mouseover mouseout",   function (event) {       if (event.type == "mouseover") $(this).addClass("hover");       else $(this).removeClass("hover");   }); The complete code is: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head id="Head1" runat="server">     <title>jQuery Mouseover / Mouseout Demo</title>     <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.4.4.js"></script>     <style type="text/css">         .hover { color:Red; cursor:pointer;}     </style>     <script type="text/javascript">         $(function () {             $("li").live("mouseover mouseout",               function (event) {                   if (event.type == "mouseover") $(this).addClass("hover");                   else $(this).removeClass("hover");               });             //button add new item functionality             $("#addNewItem").click(function (event) {                 event.preventDefault();                 $("<li>" + $("#txtItem").val() + "</li>").appendTo("ul");             });         });     </script> </head> <body>     <form id="form2" runat="server">     <ul>         <li>Data 1</li>         <li>Data 2</li>         <li>Data 3</li>         <li>Data 4</li>         <li>Data 5</li>         <li>Data 6</li>     </ul>          <input type="text" id="txtItem" />     <input type="button" id="addNewItem" value="Add New Item" />     </form> </body> </html> So, basically when replacing hover with live, you see we use the mouseover and mouseout names for both events. Check the working demo which is available HERE. Hope this was useful blog for you. Hope it’s helpful.   • CSS / HTML centering a textbox

    This should be easy but its proving difficult... My element I want centred is exactly this <input type="text"> I don't want the text centred, just the text box within the outer div. This is my attempt which is not working <div class ="temp123"> <input type="text" /> </div> Where: .temp123 { margin: 0 auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; } The text box remains on the left. The outer div has a fixed with of 300px and itself is centered using margin: 0 auto;

  • Drawing a PDF Right-Side-Up in CGContext

    - by Carter Allen
    I'm overriding the drawRect: method in a custom UIView, and I'm doing some custom drawing. All was going well, until I needed to draw a PDF resource (a vector glyph, to be precise) into the context. First I retrieve the PDF from a file: NSURL *pdfURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"CardKit.bundle/A.pdf"]]; CGPDFDocumentRef pdfDoc = CGPDFDocumentCreateWithURL((CFURLRef)pdfURL); CGPDFPageRef pdfPage = CGPDFDocumentGetPage(pdfDoc, 1); Then I create a box with the same dimensions as the loaded PDF: CGRect box = CGPDFPageGetBoxRect(pdfPage, kCGPDFArtBox); Then I save my graphics state, so that I don't screw anything up: CGContextSaveGState(context); And then I perform a scale+translate of the CTM, theoretically flipping the whole context: CGContextScaleCTM(context, 1.0, -1.0); CGContextTranslateCTM(context, 0.0, rect.size.height); I then scale the PDF so that it fits into the view properly: CGContextScaleCTM(context, rect.size.width/box.size.width, rect.size.height/box.size.height); And finally, I draw the PDF and restore the graphics state: CGContextDrawPDFPage(context, pdfPage); CGContextRestoreGState(context); The issue is that there is nothing visible drawn. All this code should theoretically draw the PDF glyph into the view, right? If I remove the scale+translate used to flip the context, it draws perfectly: it just draws upside-down. Any ideas?

  • Django MultiWidget Phone Number Field

    I want to create a field for phone number input that has 2 text fields (size 3, 3, and 4 respectively) with the common "(" ")" "-" delimiters. Below is my code for the field and the widget, I'm getting the following error when trying to iterate the fields in my form during initial rendering (it happens when the for loop gets to my phone number field): Caught an exception while rendering: 'NoneType' object is unsubscriptable class PhoneNumberWidget(forms.MultiWidget): def __init__(self,attrs=None): wigs = (forms.TextInput(attrs={'size':'3','maxlength':'3'}),\ forms.TextInput(attrs={'size':'3','maxlength':'3'}),\ forms.TextInput(attrs={'size':'4','maxlength':'4'})) super(PhoneNumberWidget, self).__init__(wigs, attrs) def decompress(self, value): return value or None def format_output(self, rendered_widgets): return '('+rendered_widgets[0]+')'+rendered_widgets[1]+'-'+rendered_widgets[2] class PhoneNumberField(forms.MultiValueField): widget = PhoneNumberWidget def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs): fields=(forms.CharField(max_length=3), forms.CharField(max_length=3), forms.CharField(max_length=4)) super(PhoneNumberField, self).__init__(fields, *args, **kwargs) def compress(self, data_list): if data_list[0] in fields.EMPTY_VALUES or data_list[1] in fields.EMPTY_VALUES or data_list[2] in fields.EMPTY_VALUES: raise fields.ValidateError(u'Enter valid phone number') return data_list[0]+data_list[1]+data_list[2] class AdvertiserSumbissionForm(ModelForm): business_phone_number = PhoneNumberField(required=True)

  • Android, simply view question about view reset

    - by javano
    I have a button in my activity, when you click the button an if statement is ran against its text label; if(BTN_1.getText()=="firsttext"){ //do some stuff, then... BTN_1.setText("secondtext"); }else if(BTN_1.getText()=="secondtext"){ //do other stuff, then... BTN_1.setText("firsttext"); } Firstly, if I hit the home button and go back to the desktop and then click back onto my app the view has reset its self; if I press the button and leave it in a state where the text of the button is "secondtext", when I return to my app it says "firsttext", how can I stop the view of my app refreshing its self like this? Secondly, under my XML layout I have defined the buttons text; android:text="firsttext" But this won't actually match my if statement above, under onCreate of this app I have: BTN_CONNECT.setText("Connect"); But visually the text of the button is exactly the same, why won't it match? Thanks for reading :)

  • Receiving data with Winsock

    - by Tamir
    Right now, I'm programming the networking for my online game, and I'm not really sure what to do about receiving data. The problem is that I can't really guess the packet's size, so I thought of reading just 4 bytes from the packet and converting them to an int to know what's the packet's size. Then I'll just create a buffer in that size and receive the rest of the packet, is that a good idea? For your information, I'm using non-blocking i/o.

  • Alternative to Nested Loop For Comparison

    - by KGVT
    I'm currently writing a program that needs to compare each file in an ArrayList of variable size. Right now, the way I'm doing this is through a nested code loop: if(tempList.size()>1){ for(int i=0;i<=tempList.size()-1;i++) //Nested loops. I should feel dirty? for(int j=i+1;j<=tempList.size()-1;j++){ //*Gets sorted. System.out.println(checkBytes(tempList.get(i), tempList.get(j))); } } I've read a few differing opinions on the necessity of nested loops, and I was wondering if anyone had a more efficient alternative. At a glance, each comparison is going to need to be done, either way, so the performance should be fairly steady, but I'm moderately convinced there's a cleaner way to do this. Any pointers?

  • Sorting a file with 55K rows and varying Columns

    - by Prasad
    Hi I want to find a programmatic solution using C++. I have a 900 files each of 27MB size. (just to inform about the enormity ). Each file has 55K rows and Varying columns. But the header indicates the columns I want to sort the rows in an order w.r.t to a Column Value. I wrote the sorting algorithm for this (definitely my newbie attempts, you may say). This algorithm is working for few numbers, but fails for larger numbers. Here is the code for the same: basic functions I defined to use inside the main code: int getNumberOfColumns(const string& aline) { int ncols=0; istringstream ss(aline); string s1; while(ss>>s1) ncols++; return ncols; } vector<string> getWordsFromSentence(const string& aline) { vector<string>words; istringstream ss(aline); string tstr; while(ss>>tstr) words.push_back(tstr); return words; } bool findColumnName(vector<string> vs, const string& colName) { vector<string>::iterator it = find(vs.begin(), vs.end(), colName); if ( it != vs.end()) return true; else return false; } int getIndexForColumnName(vector<string> vs, const string& colName) { if ( !findColumnName(vs,colName) ) return -1; else { vector<string>::iterator it = find(vs.begin(), vs.end(), colName); return it - vs.begin(); } } ////////// I like the Recurssive functions - I tried to create a recursive function ///here. This worked for small values , say 20 rows. But for 55K - core dumps void sort2D(vector<string>vn, vector<string> &srt, int columnIndex) { vector<double> pVals; for ( int i = 0; i < vn.size(); i++) { vector<string>meancols = getWordsFromSentence(vn[i]); pVals.push_back(stringToDouble(meancols[columnIndex])); } srt.push_back(vn[max_element(pVals.begin(), pVals.end())-pVals.begin()]); if (vn.size() > 1 ) { vn.erase(vn.begin()+(max_element(pVals.begin(), pVals.end())-pVals.begin()) ); vector<string> vn2 = vn; //cout<<srt[srt.size() -1 ]<<endl; sort2D(vn2 , srt, columnIndex); } } Now the main code: for ( int i = 0; i < TissueNames.size() -1; i++) { for ( int j = i+1; j < TissueNames.size(); j++) { //string fname = path+"/gse7307_Female_rma"+TissueNames[i]+"_"+TissueNames[j]+".txt"; //string fname2 = sortpath2+"/gse7307_Female_rma"+TissueNames[i]+"_"+TissueNames[j]+"Sorted.txt"; string fname = path+"/gse7307_Male_rma"+TissueNames[i]+"_"+TissueNames[j]+".txt"; string fname2 = sortpath2+"/gse7307_Male_rma"+TissueNames[i]+"_"+TissueNames[j]+"4Columns.txt"; //vector<string>AllLinesInFile; BioInputStream fin(fname); string aline; getline(fin,aline); replace (aline.begin(), aline.end(), '"',' '); string headerline = aline; vector<string> header = getWordsFromSentence(aline); int pindex = getIndexForColumnName(header,"p-raw"); int xcindex = getIndexForColumnName(header,"xC"); int xeindex = getIndexForColumnName(header,"xE"); int prbindex = getIndexForColumnName(header,"X"); string newheaderline = "X\txC\txE\tp-raw"; BioOutputStream fsrt(fname2); fsrt<<newheaderline<<endl; int newpindex=3; while ( getline(fin, aline) ){ replace (aline.begin(), aline.end(), '"',' '); istringstream ss2(aline); string tstr; ss2>>tstr; tstr = ss2.str().substr(tstr.length()+1); vector<string> words = getWordsFromSentence(tstr); string values = words[prbindex]+"\t"+words[xcindex]+"\t"+words[xeindex]+"\t"+words[pindex]; AllLinesInFile.push_back(values); } vector<string>SortedLines; sort2D(AllLinesInFile, SortedLines,newpindex); for ( int si = 0; si < SortedLines.size(); si++) fsrt<<SortedLines[si]<<endl; cout<<"["<<i<<","<<j<<"] = "<<SortedLines.size()<<endl; } } can some one suggest me a better way of doing this? why it is failing for larger values. ? The primary function of interest for this query is Sort2D function. thanks for the time and patience. prasad.

  • LaTeX: remove blank page after a \part or \chapter

    - by CaptSolo
    How to remove a blank page that gets added automatically after \part{} or \chapter{} in a book document class? I need to add some short text describing the \part. Adding some text after the part command results in at least 3 pages with an empty page between the part heading and the text: Part xx (empty) some text How to get rid of that empty page? P.S. Latex: How to remove blank pages coming between two chapters IN Appendix? is similar but it changes the behavior for the rest of the text while I need to remove the empty page for this one \part command only.

  • C# PInvoke VerQueryValue returns back OutOfMemoryException?

    - by Bopha
    Hi, Below is the code sample which I got from online resource but it's suppose to work with fullframework, but when I try to build it using C# smart device, it throws exception saying it's out of memory. Does anybody know how can I fix it to use on compact? the out of memory exception when I make the second call to VerQueryValue which is the last one. thanks, [DllImport("coredll.dll")] public static extern bool VerQueryValue(byte[] buffer, string subblock, out IntPtr blockbuffer, out uint len); [DllImport("coredll.dll")] public static extern bool VerQueryValue(byte[] pBlock, string pSubBlock, out string pValue, out uint len); // private static void GetAssemblyVersion() { string filename = @"\Windows\MyLibrary.dll"; if (File.Exists(filename)) { try { int handle = 0; Int32 size = 0; size = GetFileVersionInfoSize(filename, out handle); if (size > 0) { bool retValue; byte[] buffer = new byte[size]; retValue = GetFileVersionInfo(filename, handle, size, buffer); if (retValue == true) { bool success = false; IntPtr blockbuffer = IntPtr.Zero; uint len = 0; //success = VerQueryValue(buffer, "\\", out blockbuffer, out len); success = VerQueryValue(buffer, @"\VarFileInfo\Translation", out blockbuffer, out len); if(success) { int p = (int)blockbuffer; //Reads a 16-bit signed integer from unmanaged memory int j = Marshal.ReadInt16((IntPtr)p); p += 2; //Reads a 16-bit signed integer from unmanaged memory int k = Marshal.ReadInt16((IntPtr)p); string sb = string.Format("{0:X4}{1:X4}", j, k); string spv = @"\StringFileInfo\" + sb + @"\ProductVersion"; string versionInfo; VerQueryValue(buffer, spv, out versionInfo, out len); } } } } catch (Exception err) { string error = err.Message; } } }

  • theoretical and practical matrix multiplication FLOP

    - by mjr
    I wrote traditional matrix multiplication in c++ and tried to measure and compare its theoretical and practical FLOP. As I know inner loop of MM has 2 operation therefore simple MM theoretical Flops is 2*n*n*n (2n^3) but in practice I get something like 4n^3 + number of operation which is 2 i.e. 6n^3 also if I just try to add up only one array a[i][j]++ practical flops then calculate like 3n^3 and not n^3 as you see again it is 2n^3 +1 operation and not 1 operation * n^3 . This is in case if I use 1D array in three nested loops as Matrix multiplication and compare flop, practical flop is the same (near) the theoretical flop and depend exactly as the number of operation in inner loop.I could not find the reason for this behaviour. what is the reason in both case? I know that theoretical flop is not the same as practical one because of some operations like load etc. system specification: Intel core2duo E4500 3700g memory L2 cache 2M x64 fedora 17 sample results: Matrix matrix multiplication 512*512 Real_time: 1.718368 Proc_time: 1.227672 Total flpops: 807,107,072 MFLOPS: 657.429016 Real_time: 3.608078 Proc_time: 3.042272 Total flpops: 807,024,448 MFLOPS: 265.270355 theoretical flop: 2*512*512*512=268,435,456 Practical flops= 6*512^3 =807,107,072 Using 1 dimensional array float d[size][size]:512 or any size for (int j = 0; j < size; ++j) { for (int k = 0; k < size; ++k) { d[k]=d[k]+e[k]+f[k]+g[k]+r; } } Real_time: 0.002288 Proc_time: 0.002260 Total flpops: 1,048,578 MFLOPS: 464.027161 theroretical flop: *4n^2=4*512^2=1,048,576* practical flop : 4n^2+overhead (other operation?)=1,048,578 3 loop version: Real_time: 1.282257 Proc_time: 1.155990 Total flpops: 536,872,000 MFLOPS: 464.426117 theoretical flop:4n^3 = 536,870,912 practical flop: *4n^3=4*512^3+overheads(other operation?)=536,872,000* thank you

    Hi, i'm porting an iphone app to Mac app,there i have to change all the UIKit related class to AppKit. if you can help me on this really appreciate. is this the best way to do below part.. Iphone App--using UIKit UIGraphicsPushContext(ctx); [image drawInRect:rect]; UIGraphicsPopContext(); Mac Os--Using AppKit [NSGraphicsContext saveGraphicsState]; NSGraphicsContext * nscg = [NSGraphicsContext graphicsContextWithGraphicsPort:ctx flipped:YES]; [NSGraphicsContext setCurrentContext:nscg]; NSRect rect = NSMakeRect(offset.x * scale, offset.y * scale, scale * size.width, scale * size.height); [NSGraphicsContext restoreGraphicsState]; [image drawInRect:rect fromRect:NSMakeRect( 0, 0, [image size].width, [image size].height ) operation:NSCompositeClear fraction:1.0];

  • Problem with UIScrollView

    - by leon
    Hi, Sorry for long winded post. I am trying to understand UIScrollView and running into very simple problem. I am creating a scroll view I am making this view 1.5 size larger then normal size Using UIScrollView I expect to see some edge elements of view out of bounds, but should be able to pan the view therefore bringing missing elements back to the visible area. However I am seeing that I can't just pan/scroll view anyway I want, instead view always wants to scroll up, as soon as move away my finger from the screen (touch end event). I am not handling any touches, etc - I just want to understand why does not scaled view stay put where I scroll it? CGRect viewFrame = self.view.frame ; viewFrame.size.width *= 1.5; viewFrame.size.height *= 1.5; CGSize mySize = viewFrame.size; [ ((UIScrollView *) self.view) setContentSize: mySize]; self.view.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeScale(1.5, 1.5); What I really trying to accomplish is something similar to Number on iPad (the same code will work on iPhone): There is a view with lots of controls on it (order entry form) User can zoom into the entire form so all elements look bigger user can pan the form therefore bringing various elements into the visible area of the screen. It seems that UIScrollView can should be able to handle zoom and pan actions (for now I am using Affine Transform to zoom in to the order entry form and iPad) Thanks

  • iPhone UIView Animation Disables UIButton Subview

    - by bensnider
    So I've got a problem with buttons and animations. Basically, I'm animating a view using the UIView animations while also trying to listen for taps on the button inside the view. The view is just as large as the button, and the view is actually a subclass of UIImageView with an image below the button. The view is a subview of a container view placed in Interface Builder with user interaction enabled and clipping enabled. All the animation and button handling is done in this UIImageView subclass, while the startFloating message is sent from a separate class as needed. If I do no animation, the buttonTapped: message gets sent correctly, but during the animation it does not get sent. I've also tried implementing the touchesEnded method, and the same behavior occurs. UIImageView subclass init (I have the button filled with a color so I can see the frame gets set properly, which it does): - (id)initWithImage:(UIImage *)image { self = [super initWithImage:image]; if (self != nil) { // ...stuffs UIButton *tapBtn = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; tapBtn.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, self.frame.size.width, self.frame.size.height); [tapBtn addTarget:self action:@selector(buttonTapped:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; tapBtn.backgroundColor = [UIColor cyanColor]; [self addSubview:tapBtn]; self.userInteractionEnabled = YES; } return self; } Animation method that starts the animation (if I don't call this the button works correctly): - (void)startFloating { [UIView beginAnimations:@"floating" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveLinear]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:10.0f]; self.frame = CGRectMake(self.frame.origin.x, -self.frame.size.height, self.frame.size.width, self.frame.size.height); [UIView commitAnimations]; } So, to be clear: Using the UIView animation effectively disables the button. Disabling the animation causes the button to work. The button is correctly sized and positioned on screen, and moves along with the view correctly.
