• Creating a dynamic (video) Overlay on Google Maps on Android 2.1

  I'm trying to create a map overlay for displaying a video stream (MJPEG) on top of a Mapview. Currently I've a standalone activity that creates a data thread for fetching MJPEG video frames. I'm using a handler to send a frame (as a Bitmap) from the data thread to the main activity which then updates the UI. I'm not sure how I can implement "refresh" for updating my "overlayed" video stream. EDIT: What I mean by "refresh" is - how can I update the video portion (not the mapview) of my UI whenever I get a new video frame. I plan to paint the video frame (bitmap) in the "draw method" of my implementation of the Overlay subclass. But the "draw" method is not invoked by me directly. Thanks.

What does this mean, and what can I do about it? Note again, that this is a question meant to focus answers to the canonical "what is a NullReferenceException and why did I get one" question.   Hello all, I hope I can give feedback like this. It may be just me and others may have already suggested this but is there a way to view our recent comments in our account profiles? I mean I can see questions asked, questions answered etc. But there are loads of questions where I add a comment to the question asker and when I leave the site, I either have to remember what the question was to go back and check if anyone has posted anything. Simply, I think having a place where we can view our latest comments if not all our comments in the control panel/user area would be great! Thanks all

  Hello, One way to increase scalability of the server application is to run IO-bound operation (reading files, sockets, web requests, database requests etc) asynchronously. This does not mean run then in the ThreadPool which will just block threads while operation is being executed. The correct way is to use asynchronous API (BeginRead, BeginGetResponse, BeginExecuteReader etc). The problem is well described in CLR vi C# book. Here is some article about asynchronous queries in Linq to SQL. Are any ways to execute Nhibernate query asynchonously? What about Linq to NHibernate? Thank you, Andrey

• How can I set MAXLENGTH on input fields automatically?

  I'm using ASP.NET MVC RC2. I have a set of classes that were auto-generated "Linq-to-SQL Classes", where each class models a table in my database. I have some default "edit" views that use the neat-o Html.TextBoxFor helper extension to render HTML input fields for the columns in a table. However, I notice that there is no MAXLENGTH attribute specified in the generated HTML. A quick google shows that you can add explicit attributes using TextBoxFor etc. but that would mean that I need to hard-code the values (and I need to remember to do it for every input). This seems pretty poor, considering that everything was automatically generated directly from the DB, so the size of the columns is known. (Although, to be fair, the web-side stuff has to work with any model objects, not just with Linq-to-SQL objects). Is there any nice way of getting this to do the right thing?

  I am aware of Web Services and WCF but I have generic question with services.I have a ASP.NET MVC Application which does some basic functionality. I just have a controller in which I am passing it the records and serializing the information to XML using XML Serializer. Then I return this information to the browser and it displays me the XML i got from the Controller Action. So I get the XML representation of my Class(Database Object) in XML and I am to give the URL of this application to the client and access and pull the information. Is this a Service then? I mean in the end all the Clients need is the Xml representation through services also right? I am not that experienced and probably being very silly but please help me out...if I provide xml this way to the client is that a Service ? Or is there something I need to undersatand here?.

  I have available an array of dictionary that contains NSDate and NSNumber values. I wanted to plot date on X axis. for plotting I need to supply xRanges to plot with some decimal values.I don't understand how can i supply NSdate values to xRange (low and length). And what should be there in this method: -(NSNumber *)numberForPlot:(CPPlot *)plot field:(NSUInteger)fieldEnum recordIndex:(NSUInteger)index I mean how my date value will be returned as NSNumber..? I think i should use some interval over there.but what should be the exact conversion..? can any one explain me what are the exact requirement to plot the date on xAxis..? • Display a "Waiting Menssage" before the POST form send

  I have a upload file form, when you hit Submit it send the file to my server, but it takes a while, in the mean time i need to tell the user wait in order to get the file uploaded, because he can press Submit again because there is no menssage to prevent him. So, the user fill a few fields in the form, including a file. When he Send the form it sends the variables via POST to the same page: <form action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" enctype="multipart/form-data" method="post"> A php script detect the page now have POST variables a do something. In the time between the send action and the page reload i need to display a mensage, how can i do that??? Thanks It will be nice if you now how to trigger that with colorbox. I know how to use it from a link but no from this POST action.

  Hi everyone. I'm having hard time with Xhtml Strict 1.0 and Css. And I'm almost out of solutions. My Site Url: http://www.pro-turk.net/beta/ I made a jquery multilevel dropdown menu for my site. It looks like OK, but I have used inline-block property of css display attribute on navigation menu which is a part of css 2.1 and isn't supported by some browsers (including ie6 and ie7). I want to make #nav li elements block level elements, but to do this and having all of them in same line, the only way is using float in #nav li. But I want to center them in their parent (the menu bar). So I need something like float:center (I know it's pretty stupid and doesn't exist). But is there a way to include block level elements as children elements without linebreaks (I mean without making a block level element). Regards.

• Gmail freezes on display:none

  Hi, I have a "div" which i insert in everypage, inside which resides my plugin. In certain pages where i might not need to use the plugin, i do a display:none on the div. This seems to work perfectly fine in all browsers. The only exception to this seems to be the "google.com" pages. Whether it be the search page or the gmail page, it seems to freeze once i do this display:none. By freeze i mean that none of the links are clickable after this. Is there something specific with these pages that i'm missing?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

• Delphi's OTA: is there a way to get active configuration while building (D2010)?

  I can ask Delphi to build all configurations at once - by clicking on "Build configurations" and invoking "Make" command: This will build all configurations, one after another. The problem is that we have an IDE expert, which must react on compilation events. We register IOTAIDENotifier80 to hook events. There are BeforeBuild and AfterBuild events - we're interested in those. IOTAProject is passed to each event. The problem is: the active configuration is never changed. I.e. if you have "Debug" configuration selected (maked in bold) - all calls to BeforeBuild/AfterBuild events will return debug configuration profile (even though IDE compiles different profiles one after another). I mean properties of IOTAProject here. I also tried to use IOTAProjectOptionsConfigurations, but its ActiveConfiguration property always return the same "bolded" profile, regardless of current compiled one. The question is: is there a way to get the "real" current profile?

  What's the difference between the following two declarations? I thought they were equivalent, but the first sample works, and the second does not. I mean it compiles and runs, but the bitmap display code shows blank. I have not stepped through it yet, but am I missing something obvious? GUI_BITMAP is a simple structure describing a bitmap. This is for VC++ 2005, but I think it fails in VC++ 2008 also. Scratching my head on this one...   This has bothered me for awhile, and I have no clues if this is a myth. It seems that a factory pattern can ease the pain of adding a dependency for a class. For example, in a book, it has something like this Suppose that you have a class named Order. Initially it did not depend on anything. Therefore you didn't bother using a factory to create Order objects and you just used plain new to instantiate the objects. However, you now have a requirement that Order has to be created in association with a Customer. There are million places you need to change to add this extra parameter. If only you had de?ned a factory for the Order class, you would have met the new requirement without the same pain. How is this not same pain as adding an extra parameter to the constructor? I mean you would still need to provide an extra argument for the factory and that is also used by million places, right?

• Reading ASCII numbers using "D" instead of "E" for scientific notation using C

  Hello, I have a list of numbers which looks like this: 1.234D+1 or 1.234D-02. I want to read the file using C. The function atof will merely ignore the D and translate only the mantissa. The function fscanf will not accept the format '%10.6e' because it expects an E instead of a D in the exponent. When I ran into this problem in Python, I have up and merely used a string substitution before converting from string to float. But in C, I am sure there must be another way. So, how would you read a file with numbers using D instead of E for scientific notation? Notice that I do not mean how to read the strings themselves, but rather how to convert them to floats.
