These are basically your 1 to 1 representation of a database table. Each table in the database will have 1 and only 1 EO. The EO contains the mapping between columns and attributes. EO's also contain the business logic and validation. These are you core data services. They are responsible for updating, inserting and deleting records. The Attributes tab displays the actual mapping between attributes and columns, the mapping has following fields: Name : contains the name of the attribute we expose in our data model. Type : defines the data type of the attribute in our application. Column : specifies the column to which we want to map the attribute with Column Type : contains the type of the column in the database   View object A view object represents a SQL query. You use the full power of the familiar SQL language to join, filter, sort, and aggregate data into exactly the shape required by the end-user task. The attributes in the View Objects are actually coming from the Entity Object. In the end the VO will generate a query but you basically build a VO by selecting which EO need to participate in the VO and which attributes of those EO you want to use. That's why you have the Entity Usage column so you can see the relation between VO and EO. In the query tab you can clearly see the query that will be generated for the VO. At this stage we don't need it and just use it for information purpose. In later stages we might use it. Application module An application module is the controller of your data layer. It is responsible for keeping hold of the transaction. It exposes the data model to the view layer. You expose the VO's through the Application Module. This is the abstraction of your data layer which you want to show to the outside word.It defines an updatable data model and top-level procedures and functions (called service methods) related to a logical unit of work related to an end-user task. While the base components handle all the common cases through built-in behavior, customization is always possible and the default behavior provided by the base components can be easily overridden or augmented. When you create EO's, a foreign key will be translated into an association in our model. It defines the type of relation and who is the master and child as well as how the visibility of the association looks like. A similar concept exists to identify relations between view objects. These are called view links. These are almost identical as association except that a view link is based upon attributes defined in the view object. It can also be based upon an association.   Overview The Workflow Analyzer is a standalone, easy to run tool created to read, validate and troubleshoot Workflow components configuration as well as runtime. It identifies areas where potential problems may arise and based on set of best practices suggests the Workflow System Administrator what to do when such potential problems are found. This tool represents a proactive way to verify Workflow configuration and runtime data to prevent issues ahead of time before they may become of more considerable impact on a production environment. Installation Since it is standalone there are no pre-requisites and runs on Oracle E-Business applications from 11.5.10 onwards. It is installed in the back-end server and can be run directly from SQL*Plus. The output of this tool is written in a HTML file friendly formatted containing the following on both workflow Components configuration and Workflow Runtime data: Workflow-related database initialization parameters Relevant Oracle E-Business profile option values Workflow-owned concurrent programs schedule and Workflow components status Workflow notification mailer configuration and throughput via related queues and table Workflow-relevant recommended and critical one-off patches as well as current code level Workflow database footprint by reading Workflow run-time tables to identify aged processes not being purged. It also checks for large open and closed processes or unhealthy looping conditions in a workflow process, among other checks.   In most corporations, planning is done at the department level — leaving disconnects and gaps across different departments. Finance sets revenue and profit goals with minimum validation from Manufacturing that the company has the resources, material, capacity, or demand to reach these goals. On the operations side, Manufacturing is developing plans to balance demand and supply but seldom knows if the resulting "plan" will meet the budgets on which the company's revenue and profit goals are based. The Sales department agrees to quotas that meet Finance's revenue goals without a complete understanding of what manufacturing can deliver. Integrated Business Planning (IBP) bridges these gaps in corporate planning systems. Integrated Business Planning integrates the financial planning provided by EPM systems with operations planning provided by Sales and Operations Planning solutions. This means that revenue goals and budgets are validated against a bottom-up operating plan, and that the operating plan is reconciled against financial goals. When detailed changes are made to the operations plan, planners can immediately see the big picture impact of the changes. IBP also addresses one the CFO's big concerns—the reliability of the revenue forecast. Operating plans are updated daily or weekly from a precise forecast based on current market conditions. These updated plans are then made available so that financial analysts are working with data that best represents what is going to happen - not what they projected would happen based on last quarter's data. • What is meant by "Repeat Business" ?

  Repeat Business obviously happens because the company has a great product or a great service. In the software industry, do companies make the code base complex enough so that the maintenance comes back to them? I have heard of cases where companies say "ya this code base has minor errors, let's ship them anyway, and let the customers come back for another change request on these". Then they would sometimes charge the customer for that. This question is specific to the software services industry. Do these things happen in the real world? I am trying to understand the business process.

  I'm a PHP developer on Linux, and my manager wants a business intelligence dashboard. He wants to see in real-time our profit/loss stuff in fancy charts, based on our software sales. I could code it all from scratch and use Google Charts API or some other charts API to help me. • E-Business Suite 11.5.10 Fenntartó Támogatással és 12.1 Meghosszabbított Támogatással kapcsolatos külön bejelentés

  Igaz, az idei Oracle Open World (OOW) már régen volt, de akkor ez a blog még nem létezett. Ugyanakkor azóta többektol kaptam kérdést az OOW-n tett E-Business Suite támogatással kapcsolatos bejelentés értelmezésére vonatkozóan. Ezért gondoltam, hasznos lehet a magyar felhasználók számára, ha írok pár sort a bejelentésrol. Az E-Business Suite (EBS) 11.5.10 verzióhoz kapcsolódó bejelentés: Az Oracle Élettartam Támogatási modellje szerint ez a verzió általánosan 2004. novembertol volt elérheto, melyre az Oracle 2010. november 30-ig biztosított Premier Támogatást, 2010. December 1-tol 2013. november végéig pedig Meghosszabbított Támogatást nyújt. Jövo év december 1-tol az EBS 11.5.10 verzió Fenntartó Támogatás szakaszba kerül. Fenntartó Támogatás szakaszban az újonnan felfedezett bug-okat már nem javítja a Fejlesztés. A bejelentés szerint Oracle a 11.5.10 esetében kivételt tesz és a 2013. december 1-tol 2014. november 30-ig terjedo idoszakban az éles üzemet érinto 1-es súlyossági szintu problémák esetében biztosítani fogja új hibák javítását is. Amire ügyelni érdemes, a rendszer a  Doc ID 883202.1 My Oracle Support dokumentumban részletezett minimum patch szinten kell legyen.   Ez a plusz szolgáltatás nem befolyásolja a támogatási díjat. Az E-Business Suite (EBS) 12.1 verzióhoz kapcsolódó bejelentés   Az EBS 12.1 verzió Meghosszabbított támogatásának eredetileg mehírdetett idoszaka 2014. május 1. – 2017. április 30. volt. Oracle ezt az idoszakot 19 hónappal megtoldotta, így ennek a verziónak a Meghosszabbított Támogatása 2018. december 31-ig tart majd. További jó hír e verziót használó Ügyfeleink számára, hogy a Meghosszabbított Támogatás emelt díjától az Oracle eltekint. Standard Oracle árazás szerint a Meghosszabbított Támogatás elso évében a szolgáltatási díj a Premier Támogatás díjának 110%-a, a második, ill. harmadik években a Premier Támogatás díjának 120%-a. Oracle jelen esetben a plusz 10%-tól, ill. a plusz 20 %-tól eltekint. Íly módon a Meghosszabbított Támogatást Oracle a Premier Támogatás díjért biztosítja majd. • design an extendible and pluggable business logic flow handler in php

  I am working on a project where I need to allow a pluggable way to inject business processes in the normal data flow. eg There is an ordering system. The standard flow of the application is A consumer orders an item. Pays for it and card is authorized. Admin captures the payment. Order is marked as complete and item is shipped. But this process may vary (extra steps in between) for different clients. Say a client would need to validate the location of the consumer before he is presented with a credit card form, OR his policies might require some other processes in between. I am thinking of using State Pattern for processing orders, saving the current state of the order in database, and initializing the state of order from the saved state. I would also need some mechanism, where a small plugin would be able to inject business specific states in the state machine. Am I thinking the right way? Are there already implemented patterns for this kind of situation? I am working with Codeigniter and basically this would mean for me, to redirect to proper controller according to the current state of the order. Like, if the state of the order is unconfirmed then redirect the user to details page and then change the state to pending. If some client would need to do some validation, then register an intermediate state between unconfirmed and pending Please suggest.

• World Record Oracle E-Business Consolidated Workload on SPARC T4-2

  Oracle set a World Record for the Oracle E-Business Suite Standard Medium multiple-online module benchmark using Oracle's SPARC T4-2 and SPARC T4-4 servers which ran the application and database. • Pair programming business logic with a non-IT person

  Have you have any experience in which a non-IT person works with a programmer during the coding process? It's like pair programming, but one person is a non-IT person that knows a lot about the business, maybe a process engineer with math background who knows how things are calculated and can understand non-idiomatic, procedural code. I've found that some procedural, domain-specific languages like PL/SQL are quite understandable by non-IT engineers. These person end up being co-authors of the code and guarantee the correctness of formulas, factors etc. I've found this kind of pair programming quite productive, this kind of engineer user feel they are also "owners" and "authors" of the code and help minimize misunderstanding in the communication process. They even help design the test cases. Is this practice common ? Does it have a name ? Have you had similar experiences ?
