• jQuery UI get the sorted position of LI element in UL

    - by PeterBZ
    I'm using jQuery UI's sortable for my UL list. Each time the user sorts the list, I want each li element to update it's "position" attribute to it's position in the list.

a

b

c

So when a user swaps c with a, the position will also update. I tried to use .each but it seems that javascript doesn't follow the order of how the LI elements are displayed but the order of the element's creation.

  • jquery :last missing multiple classes

    - by mickyjtwin
    I have an unordered list, and am using jquery to find the last ul and apply a class. jQuery("ul.class1:last").addClass("lastUi"); The html is as follows:

This is working fine, however it has now changed in that another class is being added to the list so the html looks like:

The jQuery code is now not picking up the last ul with both class1 and class2 as the last element and isn't adding the lastUI class.

  • style ul with width to accommodate items

    - by Tallmaris
    Sorry I could not find a similar answer on SO. I have the following markup (generated by jquery ui autocomplete but this is not the issue here)

  United Kingdom text text text text text

As you can see in this fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/fVr8P/2/ the text wraps because the width is limited and the country span is "floating". What I would like would be for the width to enlarge to accommodate the full length, but if I put width: auto; it will expand to 100%. Background The ul is of course coming from jquery ui autocomplete. I am styling the results a bit using the autocomplete.html extension. Problem is that everything is working ok in firefox an chrome because the autocomplete is set to the correct width on creation. in IE this does not happen (width is too small) so the text wraps. I am hping to come to a simple css only solution, without fiddling around in jQuery.

  • Adding UL to jQuery UI Tabs

    It seems like whenever I try to add a UL inside of the containers when using jQuery UI - Tabs, it breaks the javascript. • jQuery / Dynatree: How to use Json or ul/li together with IFrame sample

    - by ggerri
    Hi I'm a newbie with dynatree, but happy that i've found this supercool plugin. On the dynatree site, I've found an example how to use it with IFrames http://wwwendt.de/tech/dynatree/doc/sample-iframe.html I was able to adapt the IFrame example successfully. But i'm a bit stuck here, because I'd like to load the tree either via UL/LI or better, with Jason/Ajax. my problem now is, that I dont understand how to provide ther url/links with LI or Jason, so that clicking an entry still opens the linked site in the iframe. Also don't know how I have to format parents/children/subchildren in Json.. Would anybody be so kind to give a sample with iframe and jason/ajax or iframe with ul/li? Thanks a lot :-) G

  • UL+CSS for grid layout

    - by nailxx
    Hi all, I have a server-generated html like:

All blocks have known width 200px and unknown height. I want
to be arranged in table-like fashion like this: What I have for now is following css: li { display: block; width: 200px; float: left; margin: 10px; } All is fine except that columns don't get equal height. And in example above block #4 “snatch” at #1 and the result isn't what I'm trying to achieve: Is there any pure-CSS cross-browser way that will allow grid layout I want and will not enforce markup change?

  • jquery hasClass "active" on ul#navigation li on page load not working

    - by Ross
    $(document).ready(function(){ $("li").click(function(){ if ($(this).hasClass("active") ) $(this).fadeTo("slow", 1.0); }); }); I have a navigation bar made and am using this code to add a transparency effect on hover: $(document).ready(function(){ $(".thumbs").fadeTo("slow", 0.6); $(".thumbs").hover(function(){ $(this).fadeTo("slow", 1.0); },function(){ $(this).fadeTo("slow", 0.4); }); }); I'm also using hoverIntent. The opacity rollover works a treat, but I'd like my "active" page to have 100% opacity, but I can't seem to get it to work..what am I doing wrong? the link in questions HTML is:

the nav works perfect minus my "active" class so I think I provided all the necessary code. thank you.

  • PHP Get images from a UL list

    - by benjamin shrimpton
    I have a long UL list and each LI contains an image tag, dynamically generated from SLideshowPro Director. I need to get the widths of ALL the images inside the UL to use in a CSS width calculation. I have been able to get the image width for the first item, but not all. My PHP is pretty limited, but do I have to make this list into an ARRAY first to allow me to get all the widths? And how do i do that?? These images contain very long id's generated by the CMS, so reading through a directory is not possible, as the images in cache bare not relation to the file names that are output to the HTML page. It has to all be done from the content that's sent to the page. Or could I even use JQuery to do this??

  • javascript ul button dropdown crashes after if doing more than 1 button

    - by Apprentice Programmer
    So i have a button drop down list that i want users to select a choice, and basically the button will return the users selection.Pretty straight forward, tested on jsFiddle and works great. Using ruby on rails btw, so i'm not sure if it might conflicting the way rails handle javascript actions. Heres the code: <%= form_for(@user, :html => {:class => 'form-horizontal'}) do |f| %> <fieldset>
Do you have experience in Business? If yes, select one of the following:

Select one

Entrepreneurship

Investments

Management

All of the Above

<%= f.text_field :years_business , :class => "form-control", :placeholder => "Years of experience" %>
Now there are 2 more of these, and basically what happens is that if I select an item for the first time from the dropdown list, everything works great. But the moment I select the same button/or new button, the page immediately kind of refreshes, they selected value will not show up after the list drops down and user selects a value. I viewed the page source and added additional javascript src and types, but still doesnt work. the jquery code: jQuery(function ($) { $('.input-group-btn .dropdown-menu > li:not(.divider)').click(function(){ $(this).closest('ul').prev().text($(this).text()) }) }); Any suggestions what is causing the problem?? The jsfiddle link is here: http://jsfiddle.net/w4s8u/7/

  • Spacing differences between IE7 and Firefox/Opera/Chrome

    - by user306940
    I have an ongoing issue with the amount of vertical space of unordered lists in IE7 vs. Firefox/Chrome/Opera and I can't seem to find a solution out there. In IE7, the space is less and what I would like to see. In Firefox, Chrome, and Opera, the space between is about twice as much. I can't account for any of the spacing issues in my code or page. On my page, the code looks like this:

SUPPORT LINKS

User Training

FAQ

Logon Assist. I would prefer to have the IE7 look to try to fix this. Thanks.

    On my portfolio page I have this setup:

MotorSomethin

We tried going for a very dark but flashy look for this website. Hence the reason we used flash.

MotorSomethin

We tried going for a very dark but flashy look for this website. Hence the reason we used flash.

MotorSomethin

We tried going for a very dark but flashy look for this website. Hence the reason we used flash.

MotorSomethin

We tried going for a very dark but flashy look for this website. Hence the reason we used flash.

MotorSomethin

We tried going for a very dark but flashy look for this website. Hence the reason we used flash.

So imagine a grid, 2 sites per line. I want to use jQuery so that when I click the H3, the image, or the paragraph inside the LIE(which are all information about a certain site), it would fade out the entire UL, then grab info about that site from our database. I think this requires AJAX but I don't have much experience with it. I'm also confused on how to use jQuery to write the new HTML after the information is grabbed.

  • CSS menu items flickering in IE6

    - by Quick Joe Smith
    Edit #1: I have just discovered this flicker bug affects IE8 (and therefore most likely IE7) as well. I am putting together a pure-CSS dropdown menu (mostly a learning exercise) and have hit a point in IE where the submenu items are flickering as the mouse moves around within the
but outside the inner . Source code is as follows: The included csshover3.htc is downloadable from Peter Nederlof's page for Whatever:hover

CSS Menu

CSS Menu

A

B

123

2

Tweee

Phwoar

Gr

C

Live demo: http://jsfiddle.net/4q6Vw/ Any help is appreciated.

  • CSS: Horizontal UL: Getting it centered

    - by Steve
    I'm trying to make a horizontal menu/list. It has a mix of independent buttons and buttons that are wrapped in their own individual forms. With much hacking I got all of the buttons, in forms and not in forms to align horizontally. I haven't been able to get the whole thing to center on the page though. Could someone point out to me what I am not seeing?

  • Help with PHP recursive navigation list menu

    - by Jason
    Hi all, I am trying to add a dynamic recursive navigation list menu to a site of am working on. The scenerio is that the menu has 2 levels related by a parentid(preid). My issue is that I can display the 1st level list correctly, however I cannot get the second level to display properly. I am not sure where to add the UL and /UL tags for the second level. This is what I am after

Item 1

item 2

item 3

sub item 1

sub item 2

Item 4

item 5

sub item 1

sub item 2

item 6

This is actually what i am getting with the below code:

item 1

item 2

sub item 1

sub item 2

Sports Injuries

Below is the class file I am using to create the menu: class Dynamic_Menu { function getConfig() { $this->DB_SERVER = 'localhost'; $this->DB_USER = '***'; $this->DB_PASS = '***'; $this->DB_NAME = '***'; } function __construct() { $this->getConfig(); $Conn = mysql_connect($this->DB_SERVER, $this->DB_USER, $this->DB_PASS); if (!$Conn) die("Error: ".mysql_errno($Conn).":- ".mysql_error($Conn)); $DB_select = mysql_select_db($this->DB_NAME, $Conn); if (!$DB_select) die("Error: ".mysql_errno($Conn).":- ".mysql_error($Conn)); } function select_row($sql) { //echo $sql . "
"; if ($sql!="") { $result = mysql_query($sql) or die("Error: ".mysql_errno().":- ".mysql_error()); if ($result) { while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) $data[] = $row; } return $data; } } function recordCount($sql) { if ($sql!="") { $result = mysql_query($sql) or die("Error: ".mysql_errno().":- ".mysql_error()); if ($result) { $cnt = mysql_num_rows($result); return $cnt; } } } function getChild($id) { $menu = ""; $str = ""; $s = "SELECT * FROM vcms_sys_explorer WHERE preid = '$id' "; $res = $this->select_row($s); $menu .= '
'; for ($i=0;$i<count($res);$i++) { $cnt_of_child = $this->recordCount("SELECT * FROM vcms_sys_explorer where preid = '".$res[$i][eid]."' "); //if ($cnt_of_child > 0) // $str = ''; //else // $str = " (is sub menu item)"; $menu .= '
'. $res[$i][name].$str.'
'; $menu .= $this->getChild($res[$i][eid]); } $menu .= '
'; return $menu; } function getMenu($parentid) { $menu = ""; $s = "SELECT * FROM vcms_sys_explorer WHERE preid = '$parentid' "; $res = $this->select_row($s); $menu .= '
'; for ($i=0;$i<count($res);$i++) { $menu .= '
'.$res[$i][name].$this->getChild($res[$i][eid]).'
'; if ((count($res) - 1) > $i) { } } $menu .= '
'; return $menu; } } I call the menu with: $menu = new Dynamic_Menu(); $menu->getMenu(1); Could someone please help and explain where I need to place the level 2 UL and /UL tags. I have been banging my head with this for the last 2 days. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks...

  • CSS Horizontal sub-menu

    - by Develman
    Hello, I am working on a horizontal CSS dropdown menu. It is still working nearly fine for IE 7, IE 8 , Firefox and Chrome. But I want to make the top
to be on top level (e.g. z-index: 100). I want this because the top level
has a graphical background and the dropdown is just styled with css and in the current way it is destroying the layout. HTML Code:

TOP1

LINK1

LINK2

LINK3

LINK4

TOP2

TOP3

LINK5

LINK6

LINK7

CSS Code /* style the outer div to give it width */ #mainMenu { position: absolute; margin-left: 6px; margin-top: 180px; } /* remove all the bullets, borders and padding from the default list styling */ #mainMenu ul { position: absolute; width: 494px; padding: 0; margin: 0; list-style-type: none; background: #FFF url(../images/mainMenu_bg.gif) no-repeat; } /* float the list to make it horizontal and a relative positon so that you can control the dropdown menu positon */ #mainMenu li { position: relative; float: left; padding-left: 5px; width: 160px; vertical-align: middle; text-align: left; } #mainMenu li.center { padding-left: 0px; text-align: center; } /* style the links for the top level */ #mainMenu a, #mainMenu a:visited { display: block; font: bold 12px/1em Helvetica, arial, sans-serif; color: #FFF; text-decoration: none; height: 42px; line-height: 35px; } /* hide the sub levels and give them a positon absolute so that they take up no room */ #mainMenu ul ul { visibility: hidden; position: absolute; height: 0; top: 35px; left: -5px; width: 165px; } /* style the table so that it takes no part in the layout - required for IE to work */ #mainMenu table { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; } /* style the second level links */ #mainMenu ul ul a, #mainMenu ul ul a:visited { width: 165px; height: 20px; line-height: 19px; font: bold 10px Helvetica, arial, sans-serif; background: #EF7D0E; color: #FFF; text-align: left; padding: 6px 0 0 5px; border-top: 1px solid #C1650B; } #mainMenu ul ul.last a, #mainMenu ul ul.last a:visited { width: 162px; } /* style the top level hover */ #mainMenu a:hover, #mainMenu ul ul a:hover{ color: #FFF; text-decoration: underline; } #mainMenu :hover > a, #mainMenu ul ul :hover > a { color: #FFF; text-decoration: underline; } /* make the second level visible when hover on first level list OR link */ #mainMenu ul li:hover ul, #mainMenu ul a:hover ul{ visibility: visible; } I have still a problem with showing the table in IE 6 but my main problem here is to show the LINK1...6 under the TOP links. I have tried many settings with z-index but nothing worked here. I hope you can help me ;)

  • CSS UL removing indent in IE

    - by Jamie
    See: Page I am having problems with IE, In FF and Chrome the navigation at the top displays fine. However in IE8 (with or without compatibility) the UL seems to indent from the left hand side, not each li just the whole li; despite declaring text-align:center; width:600px; margin:auto; padding-left:0;. Any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks, Jamie
