  • How to get the clicked element in a dynamically built JQuery Treeview?

    - by Alexander
    I have a product database with several product categories. Each category has a number of sub-categories, which has sub-sub-categories, which has... Well, quite some levels deep. The tree is too huge to load at once, so I need to built it dynamically as users select specific product categories. Here's a snapshot of the product tree. Initially, only the first level is loaded. The second level (Cat. 1.1 and cat. 1.2) is added when the user clicks on cat. 1: <ul id="navigation"> <li id="625212">Product cat. 1 <ul> <li id="625213">Product cat. 1.1 <ul></ul> </li> <li id="625109">Product cat. 1.2 <ul></ul> </li> </ul> </li> <li id="624990">Product cat. 2 <ul></ul> </li> </ul> I intend to extend the tree as users click on specific product categories. I can get the list of sub-categories from a URL that takes the parent product category ID as input and outputs HTML in the format needed by treeview. I cannot use PHP and have to make this work with the .click() event. Here's the code that I have: $(document).ready(function(){ function doSomethingWithData(htmldata, id) { var branches = $(htmldata).appendTo("#navigation #"+id+" ul"); $("#navigation").treeview({ add: branches }); } $("#navigation").treeview({ collapsed: true, unique: true, persist: "location" }); $("#navigation li[id]").click(function() { var id=$(this).attr("id"); if ($("#"+$(this).attr("id")+" ul li").size()==0) { $.get('someurl?id='+$(this).attr("id"), function(data) { doSomethingWithData(data, id); } ) } }); }); The problem I'm having is with the click-event. When clicking on cat 1.1. to extend it one level deeper, it still returns the ID of the top level product category. How can I change the click events so that it will return the ID of the clicked <LI> instead of the top one? If the product category does not have any sub-categories, how can I remove the <UL></UL> and thus inidcating that the tree cannot be expanded any further?

  • HTML/CSS - How can I position these nested unordered lists correctly?

    - by Samuroid
    I am looking for some help resolving an issue im having with positioning the following unordered list elements that are contained in a div which has relative positioning: The html structure of the UL: <div id="accountBox" class="account_settings_box"> <ul> <ul> <li class="profileImage"><img src="images/profileimage.jpg" alt="Profile Image" /></li> <li class="profileName">Your name</li> <li class="profileEmail">Your email</li> </ul> <li><a href="">Messages</a></li> <li><a href="">Settings</a></li> <li><a href="">Password</a></li> <li><a href="">Sign out</a></li> </ul> </div> and the CSS for this list: .account_settings_box ul ul { display: inline-block; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; height: 150px; outline: 1px solid blue; } .account_settings_box ul ul li { display: inline-block; border: none; /* Reset the border */ } .profileImage { float: right; display: block; width: 150px; height: 150px; outline: 1px solid purple; } .profileName, .profileEmail { width: auto; height: auto; width: 150px; height: 150px; } .account_settings_box ul ul li:hover { outline: 1px solid red; } .profileImage img { width: 150px; height: 150px; } I am having difficultly with the embedded ul, i.e, .account_settings_box ul ul element. The image below shows what it currently looks like. I am trying to achieve the follow: Have the image floating to the right, and have the "your name" and "your email" positioned to the left of the image (basically where they are currently). Thanks for your help in advance. Sam :)

  • jQuery hide ul header when all entries are deleted...

    - by Scott
    I'm a noob with jQuery...and I hope I've explained this well enough; I have a <ul> header that appears when I've added an entry to a dynamically created list using $.post. Each entry added has a delete/edit button associated with it. Header is this: <ul class="header"> <li>Month</li> <li>Year</li> <li>Cottage</li> </ul> My dynamic list that is created: <ul class="addedItems"> <li>Month</li> <li>Year</li> <li>Cottage</li> <li><span class="edit">edit</span></li> <li><span class="del">delete</span></li> </ul> This all looks like this: Month Year Cottage <--this appears after I've added an entry -------------------------------- and I want it to stick around unless all items are deleted. Dec 1990 Fir edit/delete <--entries Jan 2000 Willow edit/delete My question is: Is there some kind of conditional that I can use with jQuery to hide the class="header" if all the items are deleted? I've read up on conditional statements like is and not with jq but I'm not really understanding how they work. All of the items in class="addedItems" is stored in data produced by JSON. This is the delete function: $(".del").live("click", function(){ var del = this; var thisVal = $(del).val(); $.post("delete.php", { dirID : thisVal }, function(data){ if(confirm("Are you sure you want to DELETE this entry?") == true) { if(data.success) { //hide the class="header" here somwhere?? $(del).parents(".addedItems").hide(); } else if(data.error) { // throw error if item does not delete } } }, "json"); return false; }); //end of .del function Here is the delete.php <?php if($_POST) { $data['delID'] = $_POST['dirID']; $query = "DELETE from //tablename WHERE dirID = '{$data['delID']}' LIMIT 1"; $result = $db->query($query); if($result) { $data['success'] = true; $data['message'] = "Entry was successfully removed."; } else { $data['error'] = true; $data['message'] = "Item could not be deleted."; } echo json_encode($data); } ?>

  • How to build, sort and print a tree of a sort?

    - by Tuplanolla
    This is more of an algorithmic dilemma than a language-specific problem, but since I'm currently using Ruby I'll tag this as such. I've already spent over 20 hours on this and I would've never believed it if someone told me writing a LaTeX parser was a walk in the park in comparison. I have a loop to read hierarchies (that are prefixed with \m) from different files art.tex: \m{Art} graphical.tex: \m{Art}{Graphical} me.tex: \m{About}{Me} music.tex: \m{Art}{Music} notes.tex: \m{Art}{Music}{Sheet Music} site.tex: \m{About}{Site} something.tex: \m{Something} whatever.tex: \m{Something}{That}{Does Not}{Matter} and I need to sort them alphabetically and print them out as a tree About Me (me.tex) Site (site.tex) Art (art.tex) Graphical (graphical.tex) Music (music.tex) Sheet Music (notes.tex) Something (something.tex) That Does Not Matter (whatever.tex) in (X)HTML <ul> <li>About</li> <ul> <li><a href="me.tex">Me</a></li> <li><a href="site.tex">Site</a></li> </ul> <li><a href="art.tex">Art</a></li> <ul> <li><a href="graphical.tex">Graphical</a></li> <li><a href="music.tex">Music</a></li> <ul> <li><a href="notes.tex">Sheet Music</a></li> </ul> </ul> <li><a href="something.tex">Something</a></li> <ul> <li>That</li> <ul> <li>Doesn't</li> <ul> <li><a href="whatever.tex">Matter</a></li> </ul> </ul> </ul> </ul> using Ruby without Rails, which means that at least Array.sort and Dir.glob are available. All of my attempts were formed like this (as this part should work just fine). def fss_brace_array(ss_input)#a concise version of another function; converts {1}{2}...{n} into an array [1, 2, ..., n] or returns an empty array ss_output = ss_input[1].scan(%r{\{(.*?)\}}) rescue ss_output = [] ensure return ss_output end #define tree s_handle = File.join(:content.to_s, "*") Dir.glob("#{s_handle}.tex").each do |s_handle| File.open(s_handle, "r") do |f_handle| while s_line = f_handle.gets if s_all = s_line.match(%r{\\m\{(\{.*?\})+\}}) s_all = s_all.to_a #do something with tree, fss_brace_array(s_all) and s_handle break end end end end #do something else with tree

  • jQuery dialog width resizing problem

    - by ktMen
    I try to load some HTML code into a jQueryUI dialog by AJAX. The code itself is a list, where rightmost elements should be absolutely positioned so that the list looks like a table with two columns, but only in some rows. The problem is that jQueryUI plugin does not seem to be correctly resizing the dialog's width, which I think is due to the absolute positioning of some li's. I have read some answers to other similar questions, but none helped me out with this. This is the code I load: <style type="text/css"> ul {list-style-type:none;margin:0px;padding:0px;} ul ul {margin:0px;padding:0px;} ul>li.fila {margin-bottom:5px;padding-bottom:5px;} ul li.fila ul li { display:inline; padding-left:20px; position:relative; margin-bottom:10px; } ul li.fila ul li.O { background:url(bullet.gif) 5px 8px no-repeat; list-style-position:inside; } </style> <ul id="raiz" > <li class="fila"> <ul > <li style="position:absolute;left:0px;" class="O"> <label for="col1">Col1:</label> <input type="text" name="col1" id="col1" value="vCol1" class="text ui-widget-content ui-corner-all" /> </li> <li style="left:250px;" class="O" > <label for="col2">Col2:</label> <input type="text" name="col2" id="col2" value="vCol2" class="text ui-widget-content ui-corner-all" /> </li> </ul> </li> <li class="fila"> <ul > <li> <label for="col3">Col3:</label> <input type="text" name="col3" id="col3" value="vCol3" class="text ui-widget-content ui-corner-all" /> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> And the Dialog constructor: $("#dialog").dialog({ bgiframe: true, autoOpen: false, height: 'auto', width: 'auto', modal: true, buttons:{ 'Cancel': function() { $(this).dialog('close'); } }, open: function(event,ui){ $("#dialog").load("dialogCode.html"); } }); Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  • Find next and previous link in a hierarchy

    - by rebellion
    I have a hierarchy with links nested in list element like this: <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 1</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 1.1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 1.2</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 1.2.1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 1.2.2</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Page 1.3</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Page 2</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 2.1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 2.2</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Page 3</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 3.1</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 3.1.1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 3.1.2</a></li> </ul> <li><a href="#">Page 3.2</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 3.3</a></li> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 3.1.1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 3.1.2</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> Basically just a sitemap. But I want to make next and previous links with jQuery, which finds the active page you're on (probably by checking for a class), and finding the previous and next anchor element (taking no regards of the hierarchy). I've tried with next(), previous() and find() but can't seem to get it to work. What is the easiest way to get the anchor elements before and after the current one?

  • HTML/jQuery/CSS Drop Down Menu Issue / Safari

    - by mmundiff
    I have a drop down menu that is coded in HTML, CSS, and jQuery and it works fine in Firefox and IE but not in Safari, and also not in Firefox on Mac. The drop down displays inline as opposed to list-item for the drop down in Safari. Any ideas why? <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.4/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" > $(document).ready(function(){ $('#menu li').hover( function() { //$('ul', this).css('display', 'block'); $('ul', this).fadeIn(200); var src = $('img.item', this).attr('src').match(/[^\.]+/) + '_over.png'; $('img.item', this).attr('src', src); }, function() { //$('ul', this).css('display', 'none'); $('ul', this).fadeOut(350); var src = $('img.item', this).attr('src').replace('_over', ''); $('img.item', this).attr('src', src); }); }); </script> <style type="text/css"> /* General */ body { arial, sans-serif; background-color: white; } * { padding: 0; margin: 0; } #menu{ white-space:nowrap; list-style:none; margin-left: 1px; } #menu ul { list-style: none; position:absolute; left:0; display:none; margin:0 -3px 0 -1px; padding:0; background: #000000; z-index: 500; margin-top: -4px; } #menu li{ display:inline; float: left; /* Added */ position:relative; } #menu li a { display: block; } #menu ul li { width:116px; float:left; border-top:1px dotted #666666; display: block; } #menu li ul { display: none; border-top: 1px black solid; text-align: left; } #menu ul a:hover { text-decoration:none; background: #efda83; color: #000000; } #menu ul a { text-decoration:none; display:block; height:15px; padding: 8px 5px; color:#efda83; font-size: 12px; } img{ border: 0 none; } .clear{ clear: both; } </style> </head> <body> <div> <ul id="menu"> <li ><a href="index.php"><img src="images/ssr_nav_home.png" class="item" alt="Home" /></a> </li> <li ><a href="about.php"><img src="images/ssr_nav_about.png" class="item" alt="About" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="about_contributors.php">Contributors</a></li> <li><a href="about_behind.php">Behind the Exhibit</a></li> <li><a href="about_sponsors.php">Sponsors</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="exhibit_intro.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_exhibit.png" alt="Exhibit" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="exhibit_intro.php">Intro</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_silkroad.php">Silk Road</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_western_regions.php">Western Regions</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_daily_life.php">Daily Life</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_burial_practices.php">Burial Practices</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_relevance.php">Relevance</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="visit.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_visit.png" alt="Visit" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="visit_tickets.php">Tickets</a></li> <li><a href="visit_specials.php">Special Offers</a></li> <li><a href="visit_tours.php">Tours</a></li> <li><a href="visit_groups.php">Groups</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="events.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_events.png" alt="Events" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="events_lectures.php">Lecture Series</a></li> <li><a href="events_symposium.php">Symposium</a></li> <li><a href="kids_and_family.php">Kids &amp; Family</a></li> <li><a href="events_calendar.php">Event Calendar</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="gallery.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_images.png" alt="Gallery" /></a></li> <li ><a href="resources.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_resources.png" alt="Resources" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="resources_teachers.php">For Teachers</a></li> <li><a href="kids_and_family.php">Kids &amp; Family</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.penn.museum/podcasts-and-videos/819-secrets-of-the-silk-road.html" rel="external">Podcasts &amp; Videos</a></li> <!-- <li><a href="map.php">Silk Road Map</a></li> <li><a href="resources_timeline.php">Timeline</a></li> --> <li><a href="resources_quiz.php">Quiz</a></li> <li><a href="glossary.php">Glossary</a></li> <li><a href="blogs.php">Blog</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="press.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_press.png" alt="Press" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="press_release.php">Press Release</a></li> <li><a href="press_images.php">Press Images</a></li> <li><a href="press_bloggers.php">Bloggers</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> </ul> </div> </body> </html>

  • showing the breadcrumb trail in the menu

    - by strangeloops
    I have a global menu and local menu for the products. I would like to highlight 'our products' link when I am showing the products and also highlight the name of the product and its subpages in the local menu so the highlighted links will work as the breadcrumbs. How can I do this with jquery and codeigniter or just jquery. Here is the code of the local menu: <ul id="accordion"> <li class="pm"><h2><?php echo anchor('/products/thassos_wonder', 'Thassos Wonder+');?></h2> <ul class="product_menu"> <h2><?php echo anchor('/products/thassos_wonder', 'Thassos Wonder+');?></h2> <h2><?php echo anchor('/products/thassos_wonder_advantages', 'Thassos Wonder+ Advantages');?></h2> <h2><?php echo anchor('products/thassos_wonder_associated_products', 'Associated Products');?></h2> <h2><?php echo anchor('/products/thassos_wonder_brochure', 'Download TW+ Brochure');?></h2> </ul> </li> <li class="pm"><h2><?php echo anchor('/products/marble_wonder', 'Marble Wonder+');?></h2> <ul class="product_menu" id="mwmenu"> <h2><?php echo anchor('/products/marble_wonder', 'Marble Wonder+');?></h2> <h2><?php echo anchor('/products/marble_wonder_advantages', 'Marble Wonder+ Advantages');?></h2> <h2><?php echo anchor('products/marble_wonder_associated_products', 'Associated Products');?></h2> <h2><?php echo anchor('/products/marble_wonder_brochure', 'Download MW+ Brochure');?></h2> </ul> </li> <li class="pm"><h2><?php echo anchor('/products/polybond', 'Poly Bond+');?></h2> <ul class="product_menu" id="pbmenu"> <h2><?php echo anchor('/products/polybond', 'Poly Bond+');?></h2> <h2><?php echo anchor('/products/polybond_advantages', 'PolyBond+ Advantages');?></h2> <h2><?php echo anchor('products/polybond_areas_of_applications', 'Areas of Applications');?></h2> <h2><?php echo anchor('/products/polybond_brochure', 'Download Polybond+ Brochure');?></h2> </ul> </li> Here is the jquery code for the local menu: $(function() { var pathname = location.pathname; var highlight; //highlight home if(pathname == "/"){ highlight = $('ul#accordion > li:first > a:first'); $('a.active').parents('li').addClass('active'); } else { var path = pathname.substring(1); if (path) highlight = $('ul#accordion a[href$="' + path + '"]'); } highlight.attr('class', 'active'); // hide 2nd, 3rd, ... level menus $('ul#accordion ul').hide(); // show child menu on click $('ul#accordion > li > a.product_menu').click(function() { //minor improvement $(this).siblings('ul').toggle("slow"); return false; }); //open to current group (highlighted link) by show all parent ul's $('a.active').parents('ul').show(); //if you only have a 2 level deep navigation you could //use this instead //$('a.selected').parents("ul").eq(0).show(); }); Still learning jquery so type of help would be appreciated. Thanks - G

  • css, unordered list not displaying icon in right place...

    - by Ronedog
    I'm really frustrated with this one. A few weeks ago I got it working in both firefox and ie just fine. Went back today to do some testing and found a problem with the display in firefox and I've been searching the code but can't find anything. I could use a few tips from anyone willing, I'm sure I'm looking at the wrong things. I upgraded my firefox version but I imagine my code is broke, not firefox. I'm assuming the problem is somewhere in my css file, but I'm not sure. Here's what I've confirmed so far. There don't seem to be conflicts in other css files with < ul 's or < li 's that may be overriding settings. The other confirmation is that This works fine in Internet Explorer...therefore I must be an idiot, because its usually been the other way around (working in FF, but failing in IE). Here's How it looks in IE (Notice the position of the folder icon right next to the text): Here's how it looks in FF (Notice the folder icon is not being pushed down with its corresponding text). Here's the Unordered List: <ul id="nav"> <li><a>Utah</a></li> <ul> <li><a>ParkCity</a> <ul> <li><a>Com1</a></li> <ul> <li class="folder_closed"><a>Timber</a></li> <div>SQUARE CONTAINER IS INSIDE THIS DIV</div> </ul> </ul> </ul> </ul> Here's the CSS that is used for the whole menu: /* MENU NAVIGATION (<UL><LI> LISTS ****************************************/ ul#nav{ /* This handles the main root <ul> */ margin-left:0; margin-right:0; padding-left:0px; text-indent:15px; } ul#nav div{ overflow: hidden; } #nav li>a:hover { cursor: pointer; } #nav li > ul{ /* This will hide any element with an id of "nav" and an "li" that has a direct child that is a "ul" */ display:none; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px; padding-left:15px; padding-right:0px; text-indent:15px; } #nav li { list-style-type:none; list-style-image: none; } #nav > li{ vertical-align: top; left:0px; text-align:left; clear: both; margin:0px; margin-right:0px; padding-right:0px; } .menu_parent{ background-image: url(../images/maximize.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: 0px 1px; position:relative; } .menu_parent_minimized{ background-image: url(../images/minimize.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: 0px 1px; position:relative; } .folder_closed{ position:relative; background-image: url(../images/folder_closed12x14.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: 0px -2px; } .folder_open{ position:relative; background-image: url(../images/folder_open12x14.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: 0px -2px; } </ul>

  • vertical navigation that shows hidden submenu on click using JQuery

    - by user346602
    Hi, I am trying to make a menu that works like the one on this flash site: http://elevensix.de/ When I click "portfolio", only then to the subnavigation links reveal themselves. Right now I have only managed to get a typical vertical "reveal subnavigation on hover menu" working. What is required is that once the appropriate menu item it cicked, its submenu shows. This submenu remains revealed as the submenu items are hovered over then selected. When the submenu item is selected, the content shows, and both the menu and submenu remain visible (the selected menu and submenu item are given a distinct colour to show the navigation path). Whew. Here is my html: <div id="nav"> <ul> <li><a href="#">about</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonials</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">testimonial1</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonial2</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonial3</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonial4</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Services</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">services1</a></li> <li><a href="#">services2</a></li> <li><a href="#">services3</a></li> <li><a href="#">services4</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Gallery</a></li> <li><a href="#">Contact</a></li> </ul> </div><!--end #nav--> and here is my css: #nav { width:160px; position: relative; top: 250px; left: 20px; } #nav ul { margin:0px; padding:0px; } #nav ul li { line-height:24px; list-style:none; } #nav a { text-decoration: none; color: #9d9fa2; } #nav ul li a:hover { position:relative; color: #00aeef; } #nav ul ul { display:none; position:absolute; left:160px; top:4px; } #nav ul li:hover ul { display:block; color: #00aeef; } #nav ul ul li { width:160px; float:left; display:inline; line-height:16px; } .selected { color: #00aeef !important; } Should I be giving the submenus a class so that I can hide then show them? And where would the class be applied? To the ul? could I use the same class for both submenus? Am I wrong in how I am applying the display:none values for this purpose? Many thanks to all the clever people on here.

  • jquery selecting all last elements of an nested tree menu unordered list...not just the :last-child.

    - by Ronedog
    I'm having some trouble figuring this out. I have an unordered list menu that I want to style all the last elements with a folder icon and style all the expandable (parent) elements with a plus.gif image. I wanted to simply change the class by using .addclass() using jquery, which will contain the css to add the background-image. My jquery code below is only selecting the ":last-child", which is placing a folder icon on the last element in the list. i need to place a folder icon in front of all the "li's" that don't hav any children, and place a plus icon in front of all those that do have children. Is there a way to accomplish this? Here's my HTML: <ul id="nav"> <li>Heading 1 <ul> <li>Sub page A <ul> <li>Sub page A - 1 <ul> <li>A - 1: 0</li> <li>A - 1: 1</li> <li>A - 1: 2</li> </ul> </li> <li>Sub page A - 3</li> <li>Sub page A - 2</li> </ul> </li> <li>Sub page B</li> <li>Sub page C <ul> <li>Sub page C - 1 <ul> <li>C - 1: 0</li> <li>C - 1: 1</li> <li>C - 1: 2</li> </ul> </li> <li>Sub page C - 3</li> <li>Sub page C - 2</li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> <li>Heading 2 <ul> <li>Sub page D</li> <li>Sub page E</li> <li>Sub page F</li> </ul> </li> <li>Heading 3 <ul> <li>Sub page G</li> <li>Sub page H</li> <li>Sub page I</li> </ul> </li> </ul> Here's the jquery code: $(function(){ //add class to last item in each list $('#nav li').find('li:last').addClass('menu_last_child'); });

  • xPath insert before and after - With DOM and PHP

    - by Jens Törnell
    I need to add a class to a HTML structure. My class is called "container" and should start right after div/ul/li (the child of ul and its simblings, not grandchilds) and should end right before the closing of the same element. My whole code looks like this: <?php $content = ' <div class="sidebar-1"> <ul> <li> <h4>Title</h4> <ul> <li><a href="http://www.test.com">Test</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.test.com">Test</a></li> </ul> </li> <li> <p>Paragraf</p> </li> <li> <h4>New title</h4> <ul> <li>Some text</li> <li>Some text åäö</li> </ul> </li> </ul> </div> '; $doc = new DOMDocument(); $doc->loadHTML($content); $x = new DOMXPath($doc); $start_text = '<div class="container">'; $end_text = '</div>'; foreach($x->query('//div/ul/li') as $anchor) { $anchor->insertBefore(new DOMText($start_text),$anchor->firstChild); } echo $doc->saveXML($doc->getElementsByTagName('ul')->item(0)); ?> It works as far as i can add the class opening but not the closing element. I also get strange encoding doing this. I want the output to be the same encoding as the input. The result should be <div class="sidebar-1"> <ul> <li> <div class="content"> <h4>Title</h4> <ul> <li><a href="http://www.test.com">Test</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.test.com">Test</a></li> </ul> </div> </li> <li> <div class="content"> <p>Paragraf</p> </div> </li> <li> <div class="content"> <h4>New title</h4> <ul> <li>Some text</li> <li>Some text åäö</li> </ul> </div> </li> </ul> </div>

  • jQuery - Stucked Animation

    - by v1n_vampire
    I'm kind of tired with Javascript long script for animation and decide to try jQuery, but it seems I'm stuck even at the simplest code. CSS: #menu {float: right; font: italic 16px/16px Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;} ul#nav {list-style: none;} ul#nav li {float: left; padding-right: 10px;} ul#nav li a {color: white;} ul#subnav {float: right; list-style: none; padding: 0; display: none;} ul#subnav li {float: left; padding: 10px 5px; white-space: nowrap;} ul#subnav li a {color: white;} Script: $(document).ready(function() { $('.nav').hover(function() { $(this).find('#subnav').stop().animate({width:'toggle'},350); }); }); HTML: <div id="menu"> <ul id="nav"> <li class="nav"> <a href="#"><img src="images/icon-home.png" width="36" height="36"/></a> <ul id="subnav"> <li><a href="#">Home</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="nav"> <a href="#"><img src="images/icon-signin.png" width="36" height="36"/></a> <ul id="subnav"> <li><a href="#">Sign In</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="nav"> <a href="#"><img src="images/icon-register.png" width="36" height="36"/></a> <ul id="subnav"> <li><a href="#">Create Account</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="nav" style="padding-right: 0;"> <a href="#"><img src="images/icon-mail.png" width="36" height="36"/></a> <ul id="subnav"> <li style="padding-right: 0;"><a href="#">Contact Us</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </div> Here's the sample page: http://v1n-vampire.com/dev/jq-animation-stuck If you continue to hover on the nav from left to right then back to left, eventually the animation will stuck. How to solve this? Thank you in advance.

  • jQuery Treeview – Expand and Collapse All Without the TreeControl

    - by Ben Griswold
    The jQuery Treeview Plugin provides collapse all, expand all and toggle all support with very little effort on your part. Simply add a treecontrol with three links, and the treeview, to your page…   <div id="treecontrol">     <a title="Collapse the entire tree below" href="#"><img src="../images/minus.gif" /> Collapse All</a>     <a title="Expand the entire tree below" href="#"><img src="../images/plus.gif" /> Expand All</a>     <a title="Toggle the tree below, opening closed branches, closing open branches" href="#">Toggle All</a> </div> <ul id="treeview" class="treeview-black">     <li>Item 1</li>     <li>         <span>Item 2</span>         <ul>             <li>                 <span>Item 2.1</span>                   <ul>                     <li>Item 2.1.1</li>                     <li>Item 2.1.2</li>                 </ul>             </li>             <li>Item 2.2</li>             <li class="closed">                   <span>Item 2.3 (closed at start)</span>                 <ul>                     <li>Item 2.3.1</li>                     <li>Item 2.3.2</li>                 </ul>             </li>         </ul>     </li> </ul> …and then associate the control to the treeview when defining the treeview settings. $("#treeview").treeview({     control: "#treecontrol",     persist: "cookie",     cookieId: "treeview-black" }); It really couldn’t be easier and it works great! But the plugin doesn’t offer a lot of flexibility when it comes to layout.  For example, the plugin assumes your treecontrol will include links.  If you want buttons or images or whatever, you are out of luck.  The plugin also assumes a set number of links and the collapse all handler is associated with the first link inside of the treecontrol, a:eq(0), the expand all handler is associated with the second link and so on.  So you really can’t incorporate the toggle all link by itself unless you manually hide the other options. Which brings me to the point of this post – making the collapse/expand/toggle layout more flexible without modifying the plugin’s source code. We will continue to use the treecontrol actions but we’re not going to use them directly. In fact, our custom collapse, expand and toggle links will trigger the actions for us.  So, hide the treecontrol links and associate the treecontrol click events with the click events of other controls.  Finally, render the treeview with the same setting definitions as usual. $(document).ready(function() {     // The plugin shows the treecontrol after the     // collapse, expand and toggle events are hooked up     // Just hide the links.     $('#treecontrol a').hide();       // On click of your custom links, button, etc     // Trigger the appropriate treecontrol click     $('#expandAll').click(function() {                 $('#treecontrol a:eq(1)').click();         });          $('#collapseAll').click(function() {         $('#treecontrol a:eq(0)').click();             });       // Render the treeview per usual.         $("#treeview").treeview({         control: "#treecontrol",         persist: "cookie",         cookieId: "treeview-black"     }); }); Since I’m not using the treecontrol directly, I move it to the bottom of the page but it doesn’t really matter where the treecontrol goes. <div>     <a id="collapseAll" href="#">Collapse All Outside of TreeControl</a> </div>   <ul id="treeview" class="treeview-black">     <li>Item 1</li>     <li>         <span>Item 2</span>         <ul>             <li>                 <span>Item 2.1</span>                 <ul>                     <li>Item 2.1.1</li>                     <li>Item 2.1.2</li>                 </ul>             </li>             <li>Item 2.2</li>             <li class="closed">                 <span>Item 2.3 (closed at start)</span>                 <ul>                     <li>Item 2.3.1</li>                     <li>Item 2.3.2</li>                 </ul>             </li>         </ul>     </li> </ul>   <div>     <input type="button" id="expandAll" value="Expand All Outside of TreeControl"/> </div>   <div id="treecontrol">     <a href="#"></a><a href="#"></a><a href="#"></a> </div> The above jQuery and Html snippets generate the following ugly output which shows the separated collapse/expand elements. If you want the toggle all option, I bet you can figure out how to put it in place.  I’ve made the source available below if you’re interested. • When a li is appended, does it not become a part of the ul "for real"?

    - by Noor
    I have right now this code: <ul><li class="listitem">text<li></ul> jQuery: $('.listitem').click(function() { $("#elname").text($(this).text()); $('#slists').css('visibility','hidden') $('#elname').css('visibility','visible') $('#elname').css('display','inline-block') }); This is supposed to hide a div and it does, but when I append items to the ul (with the class listitem) nothing happens with the appended item, the class it gets is correct, the title, and the value too. Can this have something to do with the code above being in the document ready function to do?

  • PHP: How to automate building a 100 <UL>/<LI> menuitems, while keeping the Menu Structure File Flat / Simply Managable?

    - by Sam
    Above: current "stupid" menu. (entire ul/li menu for javascript menu system) + (some li lines as page-specific submenu) Hi folks! With passion for automation and elegancy, but limited knowledge/knowhow, im stuck with "my hands in my hair" as we Dutch say, for my current menu system works perfectly, but is a pain in the a*s to update! So, i would appreciate it greatly, if you can suggest how to automate this in php: how to let the php generate the html menu code basing on a flat menu input file with TABS indented. OLD SITUATION <ul> <!-- about 100 of these <li>....</li> lines --> <li><a href="carrot.php"><p class="mnu" style="background-position:0 -820px"><? echo __("carrot juice") ?></p></a></li> <!-- lots of data, with only little bit thats really the menu itself--> </ul a javascript file reads a ul/li structure as input to build menu of format in that ul/li, the items with a hyperlink and sprite-bg position represent webpages, (inside LI) while items without hyperlink and sprite-bg are just headers of that menusection, (inside H6) to highlight the current page in the menu, the javascript menumaker uses an id number. this number corresponds to the consequtive li that is a webpage, skips h6 headers correctly. these h6 headers are only there for when importing sections of the same menu as submenu. non-li headers are not shown in menu, nore counted by the javascript menu for their ID. to know which page should be shown, i have to count from ID 0, the li items till finding the current webpage in the li structure and then manually put it in each webpage! BUT: changing an item in li order, means stupidly re-counting their entire li again! each webpage has an icon (= sprite bg-position numer), which is also used in the webpage. INTENDED RESULT I dream of, once setting what the current webpage is (e.g carrot.php) the menu system automatically "finds" and "counts" the li's and returns the id nr (for proper highlight of main menu); generates the entire menu html, and depending on which headings are set for submenu, (e.g. meals, drinks) generates those submenu (entire section below each given header); ginally adds h5 highlight inside the li of that submenu item. For the menu, i wish an easily readable, simple plain txt menu that is indented with tabs, (each tab is one depth for example) and further tabs follow for url and sprite position of icon. MY DREAM MENU-MANAGEMENT FILE |>TAB SEPARATED/INDENTED FLATMENU FILE |MUST BE CALCULATED BY PHP: |>MENUTEXT============URL=============SPRITE=====|ID===TAG================== |>about "#" -520 |00 li |> INFORMATION |—— h6 |> physical state "physical.php" -920 |01 li |> mental health "mental.php" -10 |02 li |> |>apetite "#" -1290 |03 li |> meals "#" -600 |04 li |> COLD MEAL |—— h6 |> egg salade "salad.php" -1040 |05 li |> salmon fish "salmon.php" -540 |06 li |> HOT MEAL |—— h6 |> spare ribs "spareribs.php" -120 |07 li |> di macaroni "macaroni.php" -870 |08 li |> |> drinks "#" -230 |09 li |> JUCY DRINK |—— h6 |> carrot juice "carrot.php" -820 |10 li |> mango hive "mango.php" -270 |11 li DESIRED CHRONOLOGY php outputs the entire ul/li html so the javascript can show the menu: webpage items go inside li tags, and header items go inside h6 tags, e.g. <h6>JUCY DRINK</h6> Each website page has a url filename [eg: salad.php]. Based on this given fact, the php menu generator detects the pagename, gives the IDnr of the position of that page according to the li-item nr and sets variable for javascript to highlight current menu item. the menu items below the specified headers are loaded as submenu in which the current page.php is wrapped inside h5 to highlight current page in submenu: e.g. (<li><h5><a href="carrot.php"><p>..etc..</p></h5></li> Question Which methods / steps / (chronological)ways are there for doing this? I am no good in php programming, but am learning it so please dont write any code without a line of comment why I should use that method etc. Where do I start? If I am unclear in my question, please ask. Thanks. Much appreciated!! Concrete Task List from the provided Comments/Answers, sofar: (RobertB) First, get some PHP code working that can read through a tab-delimited file and put the data into an appropriate data structure. • Why is this UL and inline JS giving errors during HTML validation?

    - by thor
    I've just run the homepage of a site I'm working on through the w3c HTML validator and it's come back with 3 errors and 2 warnings. I've taken a look at them but can't see why they would be causing a problem. I've pasted them in below (I've removed URL's/strings etc as the site isn't quite ready to be made public yet). This is being validated against XHTML Transitional by the way. The UL comes back with the following error: end tag for "ul" which is not finished <ul id='tabs'></ul> <ul id='tabs'> <li> <a href="/en/folder/folder/search?categories[]=cat1" class="tab1" title="tab_title"> <img alt="img_alt" src="img_src" /> <span> tab1_text </span> </a> </li> <li> <a href="/en/folder/folder/search?categories[]=cat2" class="tab2" title="tab_title"> <img alt="img_alt" src="img_src" /> <span> tab2_text </span> </a> </li> <li> <a href="/en/folder/folder/search?categories[]=cat3" class="tab3" title="tab_title"> <img alt="img_alt" src="img_src" /> <span> tab3_text </span> </a> </li> <li> <a href="/en/folder/folder/search?categories[]=cat4" class="tab4" title="tab_title"> <img alt="img_alt" src="img_src" /> <span> tab4_text </span> </a> </li> <li> <a href="/en/folder/folder/search?categories[]=cat5" class="tab5" title="tab_title"> <img alt="img_alt" src="img_src" /> <span> tab5_text </span> </a> </li> <li> <a href="/en/folder/folder/search?categories[]=cat6" class="tab6" title="tab_title"> <img alt="img_alt" src="img_src" /> <span> tab6_text </span> </a> </li> <li> <a href="/en/folder/folder/search?categories[]=cat7" class="tab7" title="tab_title"> <img alt="img_alt" src="img_src" /> <span> tab7_text </span> </a> </li> <li> <a href="/en/folder/folder/search?categories[]=cat8" class="tab8" title="tab_title"> <img alt="img_alt" src="img_src" /> <span> tab8_text </span> </a> </li> </ul> For the inline javascript, I'm getting 2 errors and 2 warnings all for the same thing - I have a simple if statement with && and the validator appears to be seeing this as HTML rather than javascript: character "&amp;" is the first character of a delimiter but occurred as data and xmlParseEntityRef: no name <script type='text/javascript'> if (weather_data != null && weather_data['data'] != null){ display_weather(); } </script> The javascript is placed just before the body close tag at the end of the document.   • How do I make my page respect h1 css addition? [migrated]

    - by Adobe
    I add h1 { margin-top:100px; } to the end of the css, but the page doesn't change. • How can I recurse up a DOM tree?

    - by smartdirt
    So I have a series of nested ul elements as part of a tree like below: <ul> <li> <ul> <li>1.1</li> <li>1.2</li> </ul> <ul> <li>2.1</li> <li> <ul> <li>2.2</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <ul> <li>3.1</li> <li>3.2</li> </ul> </li> </ul> Let's say when 3.1 is the selected node and when the user clicks previous the selected node should then be 2.2. The bad news is that there could be any number of levels deep. How can I find the previous node (li) in relationship to the currently selected node using jquery?

  • jQuery expanding menu

    - by Milen
    Hi everybody, i have this html code: <ul id="nav"> <li>Heading 1 <ul> <li>Sub page A</li> <li>Sub page B</li> <li>Sub page C</li> </ul> </li> <li>Heading 2 <ul> <li>Sub page D</li> <li>Sub page E</li> <li>Sub page F</li> </ul> </li> </ul> With this JS code: $(function(){ $('#nav>li>ul').hide(); $('#nav>li').mouseover(function(){ if ($('#nav ul:animated').size() == 0) { $heading = $(this); $expandedSiblings = $heading.siblings().find('ul:visible'); if ($expandedSiblings.size() > 0) { $expandedSiblings.slideUp(500, function(){ $heading.find('ul').slideDown(500); }); } else { $heading.find('ul').slideDown(1000); } } }); }) For now the code works this way: When click on Heading 1, menu is expanded. When click on Heading 2, heading2 submenu menu is expanded and heading 1 submenu is closed. I need to rework it to this: Submenus must be closed automatically on mouseout. Can somebody help me? Thanks in advance!

  • Cannot override the CSS at this site

    - by gdanko
    This site is overriding my CSS with its own and I cannot get around it! It has style.css with "text-align: center" in the body. I have <div id="mydiv"> appended to the body and it's normally got "text-align: left". There are <ul>s and <li>s underneath #mydiv and they are inheriting the body's 'center' for some reason. I tried this and it's still not working. $('#mydiv').children().css('text-align', 'auto'); How the heck do I reclaim my CSS!? @Grillz, the HTML looks like this: <div id="mydiv"> <ul class="container"> <li rel="folder" class="category"><a href="#">category1</a> <ul><li rel="file" class="subcategory"><a href="#">subcategory1</a></li></ul> <ul><li rel="file" class="subcategory"><a href="#">subcategory2</a></li></ul> </li> <li rel="folder" class="category"><a href="#">category2</a> <ul><li rel="file" class="subcategory"><a href="#">subcategory3</a></li></ul> <ul><li rel="file" class="subcategory"><a href="#">subcategory4</a></li></ul> </li> </ul>

  • jQuery: Trying to write my first plugin, how can I pass a selector to my func?

    - by Jannis
    Hi, I am trying to start writing some simple jQuery plugins and for my first try if figured I would write something that does nothing else but apply .first & .last classes to passed elements. so for instance i want to ultimately be able to: $('li').firstnlast(); So that in this html structure: <ul> <li></li> <li></li> <li></li> <li></li> </ul> <ul> <li></li> <li></li> </ul> it would create the following: <ul> <li class="first"></li> <li></li> <li></li> <li class="last"></li> </ul> <ul> <li class="first"></li> <li class="last"></li> </ul> What i have written so far in my plugin is this: (function($) { $.fn.extend({ firstnlast: function() { $(this) .first() .addClass('first') .end() .last() .addClass('last'); } }); })(jQuery); However the above only returns this: <ul> <li class="first"></li> <li></li> <li></li> <li></li> </ul> <ul> <li></li> <li class="last"></li> </ul> It seems that passing only the li into the function it will look at all li elements on the entire page and then apply the classes to it. What I need to figure out is how i can basically make the function 'context aware' so that passing the above li into the function would apply the classes to those lis inside of the parent ul, not to the first and last li on the entire page. Any hints, ideas and help would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading, Jannis
