• C# manipulating video

  i want to take a folder of pictures, and turn it into a slideshow video with music in the background. i have no idea how to do this, or where to get help, cos this isnt the kind of thing you can search in google. idk if there are api's for it, or if it can even be done in C#. maybe ill have to move the project to C++ or something, but first i need to know where the hell to start. thanks.

• How do i have 4GB of video memory with a 1GB video card?

  I ran the direct X diagnostic tool to take a look at my graphics capabilities and its telling me that the approximate video memory is clocked in at 4096MB. That doesn't make any sense, how is that possible? The only things that i can think of were that DirectX was inaccurate so i looked at the graphics statistics of my computer on CPU-Z which was included with the motherboard and that's telling me i have "negative" 1988MB. Not only is that not 4096MB, but its giving me a negative number and i know for a fact that you can't have a negative amount of memory???!!! The only things i can think of that would be amplifying my video memory output is the PCIe 3.0 bus, or that the motherboard is somehow including the on board video chip set with the video card which only then is only 2GB of video memory, which still has to be being amplified by something. Any suggestions?

• Proper 16:9 video size for non-HD 4:3 video (for youtube/vimeo)

  Since High Definition video came out on all the online sites it has changed the default aspect ratio of the player from 4:3 to 16:9. This means that for people posting SD video you have to resize some of your videos to get them to fit right. For example, NTSC DVD quality (aka 480i/p) is 720x480 pixels (width x height). However, low-end High Definition (720i/p) is 1280x720. Anyway, now that the video players are built for HD you will find that uploading standard quality videos will result in videos that are "letter boxed" which means they have extra black bars on the top and bottom (or sides). Correct me if I'm wrong, but in order to get a 720x480 video to fit a box that is designed for HD the best practice would be to crop some of it off so that it fits as 720x404 since: 16/9 = 1.78 (1.7777777777778) 720/405 = 1.78 405x1.78 = 720.9 The same would stand for 640x480 (old TV quality) video that would need to be 640x360 correct? I'm asking because I'm not sure about all this and whether this is the proper way to fix these letter-boxing/display problems.

  The built in memory card reader in my laptop mounts SD cards as read-only only. This happens both in Windows 7 and Ubuntu. Most of the time. Ever now an then it works. After a some non-deterministic combination of uninstalling/reinstalling/disabling/enabling of the driver with the mandatory reboots the card reader works for a while. Is there any sane way to troubleshoot if it's an actual hardware problem, or just a matter of drivers? I've tested it with several SD cards, that work just fine in other devices. System: Acer Aspire 8951G, Windows 7-64bit

• Sd card bigger than 2gb is not recognized in ubuntu 12.04

  When I insert a card up to 2gb it is immediately seen by the system but if try it with bigger one it's not seen. I presume the issue is not due to the card reader itself as it reads all cards under windows 7 but due to linux driver. I could see some people having similar issues but no solution. Any help appreciated. GParted doesnt see cards bigger than 2gb. • ffmpeg: Could not find codec parameters for stream 0 (Video: h264) unspecified size

  I try to convert a video from .raw to .mp4. For this reason I did download, build and install both x264 and ffmpeg. However, command: ffmpeg -f h264 -i output.raw -vcodec copy output.mp4 fails with error (shown in picture below). Is there any way to fix this? • How to stream H264 Video from camera over FTP?

  I bought a h264 security camera system last year and set it up to ftp video to my computer. I was able to get the video to play (even though it played a little fast) on Ubuntu 11.04 using mplayer. A few months ago, I did a fresh install of 12.04 and I cannot seem to get the video to play with mplayer, smplayer or VLC. I have the restricted formats video packages installed and when playing with any of the players, all I get is a gray video. When calling mplayer from the command line to play the video with no options, I get a lot of these errors: [h264 @ 0x7f278c61f280]concealing 1320 DC, 1320 AC, 1320 MV errors No pts value from demuxer to use for frame! pts after filters MISSING I'm not a video expert and have been coming up with a lot of dead ends when Googling for this. Could someone offer some advice about how to play these videos? • Proffesional video editor that can handle FLV?

  I tried Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 and was not able to open my file (unsupported format). Media player can open it thanks to ffdshow (tryouts IIRC). Premiere doesnt seem to want to use ffdshow. I tried renaming it to AVI and hoped Premiere would open it via ffdshow but it didnt and i checked and disabled the dont use ffdshow option in ffdshow video decoder option. What is a good proffesional video editor that can handle FLV? All ffmpeg based editors died on it and virtualdub got close but had a bad framerate. Probably bc it didnt know it was a streaming vid and the start is 26mins of 31min video.   I am running Windows 7 in my Dell Studio 1555 Laptop. I have ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 graphics card inside. When I try to watch a video, I can see only some disturbed texture. I can hear the audio and no prob with that. The I can see the video frames peeking sometimes but is pretty slower. I have DirectX (directx_feb2010_redist) and Win7 codecs installed.   I am trying to speed up this video by 1.25x to 1.5x, udacity style. I tried grabbing the http://smart.if.uidaho.edu/courses/f2012/cs512/ using the Download Flash & Video Firefox plugin, but it only grabbed the swf player that streams the video. Is there any other way to download this video? (as well as future videos). As a final solution, I can use video capture software while I'm not using the computer, but I don't want that hassle and time delay if possible.

• FFmpeg convert video w/ dropped frames, out of sync

  I recorded a video using Bandicam with the MJPEG encoder to get the least amount of lag. Now, I am trying to convert that massive file to a h264 avi using ffmpeg. I know there are dropped frames in the video stream...more than 100 in the first two minutes, which I assume is simply because Bandicam dropped some when it couldn't keep up. So, when I convert the file to h264, the video and audio are out of sync, and appear to be more and more out of sync as output video progresses. Here is my basic command in ffmpeg: ffmpeg -i "C:\...\input.avi" -vcodec libx264 -q 5 -acodec libmp3lame -ar 44100 -ac 2 -b:a 128k "C:\...\output.avi" I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of including: -itsoffset [-]00:00:01 Tried this before and after input file. This doesn't work because as the video progresses it becomes more and more out of sync. -async 1 Doesn't work. -vsync 1 Doesn't work, but it does show dropped frames being duplicated. Two inputs of same file with mapping using -map 0:0 -map 1:1. Doesn't work. The source plays just fine. Any ideas how to convert it with ffmpeg and keep the audio and video synced? Thanks.

  My system has an atom N270 + intel i915 graphic card. Under Windows I can enjoy 720p bigbuckbunny youtube video fullscreen without any trouble. Under Ubuntu 12.04 I have laggy and choppy fullscreen video and choppy video when not fullscreen. I've seen that under ubuntu the cpu is almost always at 100% use. I believe that youtube isn't making higher resolutions available for my video because of its aspect ratio. The video is 720x400.   Does anyone here know of a good HD video capture card that has a good (comprehensive) API? I administer a few servers that do some video encoding right now, but when we make the switch to HD cameras, they won't be sufficient. In addition to this, the servers we have now are black boxes, closed to me except to start/stop the video capture device. I'd like to be able to roll my own, so we can better integrate it with our existing systems, but I know almost nothing about what kind of HD capture cards are out there, and if I can avoid spending money just to test their APIs that would rock. So does anyone have any experience with this? All our other software is in C#, and I'd like to set up the new servers with web interfaces to start/stop the capture (also in C#, using .NET 3.5 probably). I'm not sure how language specific these APIs would be, but that's what I'm working with just as a reference point. I appreciate any help the community can give!

• Radeon HD5570 HDMI Video Card 5.1 Audio doesn't work

  I am using Ubuntu and XMBC on my HTPC and have chosen the Radeon HD5570 Video card which has an HDMI output. In the sound preferences there is no surround sound option for the video card just stereo and although I can get sound through it in XBMC, my receiver does not state Dolby Digital on movies that are in fact Dolby so its definitely not giving me the true sound it should. Does this card not support surround sound through HDMI and I somehow missed it? If that is the case does anyone have suggestion that has been tested and works? Id like to know its going to work before investing in yet another video card. UPDATE I purchased a Nvidia GeForce GTS 450, plugged it in, downloaded the proprietary driver from the system control panel, disabled the onboard audio from the BIOS (not sure if this was necessary but I did it anyways), and changed the sound settings to use the new video card. Everything works flawlessly. It was a seemless setup.

  Is there a table that shows what is necessary for streaming video on demand? Specifically what I'm trying to do is stream Video on Demand to 50-100 people. I'm flexible with the format, but I'd like text on the screen to be legible (i.e. not 320x240). • Video from vhs via USB capture device on Linux

  I want to transfer video from a VHS tape to my computer with Arch Linux, using a USB capture device that comes with Roxio Easy VHS to DVD, which I recently bought. I tried to plug in the device, and it was properly recognized.
