  • No GRUB Screen or recovery mode on Boot after 12.04 Upgrade

    I tried the live boot CD and boot-repair, also loaded the Desktop install CD, and it looks like all partitions check out OK. However, when I try to boot Linux (the only bootable partition on the computer) I get a blank screen. Every so often the screen give me something akin to: Assuming write through cache Asking for cache data failed it appears to start booting, then hangs. Ctrl+Alt+Delete shuts down the machine The last message during boot is "STarting TiMidity++ ALSA midi emulation... [OK]" I used boot-repair to generate a boot info report. One thing looks odd to me- it reports a missing core.img on /dev/sda1.   • Cursor while loop returning every value but the last

    Hello, I am using a while loop to iterate through a cursor and then outputing the longitude and latitude values of every point within the database. For some reason it is not returning the last (or first depending on if I use Cursor.MoveToLast) set of longitude and latitude values in the cursor.     I followed this example to set up a git repository on my server. It worked, and I successfully pushed my code to it. But now, how do I pull or clone? Using the docs, I tried git clone http://REMOTE_SERVER/home/git/example.git .. But for me, I'm getting: fatal: http://myserverip/home/git/example.git/info/refs not found: did you run git update-server-info on the server? I ran git-update-server info, but nothing changed Edit: Ah, hold on. I changed it to git clone ssh://REMOTE_SERVER/home/git/example.git and I'm getting something.. it wants my user/pass, but how do I make the server public then not requiring login?

  • How to use Cambria as basic font when math symbols are needed?

    I first thought one could use Cambria for copy text (in Word), switching to Cambria Math only when needed (when a character is needed that is not present in Cambria). This does not seem to work that well. For example, if I need the minus-or-plus sign “±”, I cannot take it from Cambria, but if I use it from Cambria Math, it has a shape rather different from the style of “±”, “+”, and “–” in the text, if it is written in Cambria. Similarly, the multiplication sign “×” is much larger in Cambria Math than in Cambria. The obvious solution would be to use Cambria Math as copy text font, for uniformity. But Cambria Math lacks italic and bold. (Word’s formula editor uses Cambria Math by default and can do italic and bold, but it gets them from Plane 1 – they are special mathematic italic and mathematic bold characters, not italic and bold glyphs for normal characters.) Is there any better approach than using Cambria Math for copy text and switching to Cambria when italic or bold is needed?

  • Intellij Idea 13.x and ASM 5.x library incompatible?

    I can't get Intellij Idea 13.0 to compile my code against ASM 5.0.3 I have a multi-module Maven project. It compiles and installs successfully. Apparently com.google.findbugs:findbugs has a dependency on asm:asm:3.3 and I want to use org.ow2.asm:asm:5.0.3 to manipulate some bytecode. So in the parent pom.xml I exclude the asm:asm:3.3 dependencies from the classpath. This works fine when I run mvn install from the command line. I can't get the Build - Make Project menu selection to work in Intellij Idea. What specific information about the merchant account will my client need to get from his bank to link it up to an online payment gateway that we will be using for the store? -----edits below -"my merchant account" changed to "the merchant account" -It is noted that my client will need to get a "high-risk" merchant account separate from his existing physical stores merchant account. -Though the question is essentially answered, for clarification: We plan to minimize our PCI compliance needs by utilizing something like Braintree's Transparent Redirect or the CRESecure iForm. So the gateway we would need to give the merchant account info to would be either of those two. Though, the CRESecure method would have yet one more step added into the mix since they would forward data to another payment provider. It is now assumed that the best place to field this question is to the support team at Braintree or CRESecure.

Extract the patch tar -xvzf /usr/src/web100-2.5.22-200810130047.tar.gz bzip2 web100/ web100-2.6.27-2.5.22-200810130047.patch Test the patch bzip2 -dc /usr/src/linux/web100/ web100-2.6.27-2.5.22-200810130047.patch.bz2 | patch -p1 --dry-run I looked at the .patch, the diff output of many files and the file .patch.bz2 after the bzip2 command which is too also the diff output of many files, they seem to be the same. My question is why is bzip2 even needed to turn the .patch into a .patch.bz2? Is it for the redirection to std output from the -dc option for the patch command? Even if it is, why not just not just use the patch command in the form something like this:patch -p1 < patchfile? I don't see why the bzip2 is done here. Also, I think the bzip2 might have an extra space in the command after web100/, right?

  • "A hard disk may be failing" , but no additional info via gdu-notification-deamon (suggestions?)

    Got this message after logging in: A hard disk may be failing One or more hard disk report health problems. Click the icon to get more information. On WUBI and 10.04, there was no icon to click, and clicking on made the message go away. After rebooting, the message did not display again. I've got everything on all my hard drives in duplicate, so not super worried about a disk failure, though I am wondering why the message had no info on which disk it thought had problems. Suggestions?

    First, a little background. I'm a .Net developer (C#) and have over 5 years experience in both web development and desktop applications. I've been wanting to look into iPhone development for some time now, but for one reason or another always got side tracked. I finally have a potential project on the horizon, and I'm now going full steam ahead learning this stuff. My question is this: I haven't done any C/C++ programming since my schooling days, I've been living in managed land ever since. How much knowledge if any is needed to be successful as an iOS developer? Obviously memory management is something that I'll have to be conscious about (although with iOS 5 there seems to be something called ARC which should make my life easier), but what else? I'm not just talking about the C API (for example, in order to get the sin of a number, I call the sin() function), that's what Google is for. I'm talking about fundamental C/C++ idioms that the average C# developer is unaware of.
