    suppose i have this table: group_id | image | image_id | ----------------------------- 23 blob 1 23 blob 2 23 blob 3 21 blob 4 21 blob 5 25 blob 6 25 blob 7 how to get results of only 1 of each group id? in this case,there may be multiple images for one group id, i just want one result of each group_id i tried distinct but i will only get group_id. max for image also would not work.

  • Can an Oracle user get a list of its own running sessions without access to v$session?

    I have an application that runs a process and I only want one process to run at a time. Some options are: Use an object lock to prevent subsequent processes running. This would be fine, but I want the calling session to return immediately and not wait for the running session to complete. Use a custom Y/N to set whether a process is running or not. I set a "Y" flag at the start of the process and set it to "N" when it finishes or fails. Also fine but feels like I'm re-inventing the wheel and doesn't feel like the way to go. It also falls short if the running session is killed as the flag stays at "Y". Use dbms_application_info.set_module This approach seems the most robust, but if I'm to know there's an existing running process I think I need to be able to query v$session and I don't want this application to have such wide access. Any ideas?

  • Waiting for a submitted job to finish in Oracle PL/SQL?

    I'm looking for the equivalent of Java's thread.join() in PL/SQL. I.e. I want to kick off a number of jobs (threads), and then wait for them to finish. How is this possible in PL/SQL? I'm thinking of using dbms_job.submit (I know it's deprecated). dbms_scheduler is also an alternative.     Hi, I want to fire a trigger whenever an insert command is fired.. The trigger will access a pl/sql file which can change anytime.. So the query is, if we design the trigger, how can we make sure this dynamic thing happens.. As during the stored procedure, it is not workingg..     Ok so I'm developing a WPF application that makes heavy use of SQL Server. I've been asked to create an installer package that checks whether the client already has SQL Server Express 2005 already installed, his operating system (64bit Vs x86) and install the required SQL Server instance if needed. I'm then required to automatically map my App.config's connection string to the SQL Server's connection string and run a script to create my database. Is it just me, or does this look like a lot of hard work? Any idea where to start? Edit: Ok should I move to SQL Server Compact edition? Thanks!

    I would like to create a location-aware application on WP7.5 Is it possible to automatically get a trigger on location change without our application running on background? For example: I would like to know if a user has moved in a new location. If the user has moved I would like to trigger a specific event from my application. My only concern is that if I do that from my application I will consume a significant amount of battery. Is it a specific WP7 service which can inform my application that the user has changed his location and trigger an event from my application? If it is possible can you please point me an example?

    I have a OpenVZ VPS running CentOS 6.3 64 bit and when I try to install JRE 7 64bit using the command: rpm -Uvh java.rpm It gives me this error: Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:jre ########################################### [100%] Unpacking JAR files... rt.jar... Error: Could not open input file: /usr/java/jre1.7.0_09/lib/rt.pack jsse.jar... Error: Could not open input file: /usr/java/jre1.7.0_09/lib/jsse.pack charsets.jar... Error: Could not open input file: /usr/java/jre1.7.0_09/lib/charsets.pack localedata.jar... Error: Could not open input file: /usr/java/jre1.7.0_09/lib/ext/localedata.pack I then tried the command: java -version And it gives me this error: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit. Why does this happen if I have more than enough RAM on the VPS to run this (1GB)? Could it be an issue with the host node of the VPS?     Hi All I have been reading the articles on MSDN, but my mind is dead (this usually happens when I read MSDN (No offense MSDN, but your articles confuse me at times.)), and I'm trying to do some "background work" in may app, but not sure how. It's just a single method. But the application hangs, and I have to wait up to 1 - 3 minutes for it to become ...unhanged?   • Developing Modular Flex Applications

    Hi there I'd like to be able to understand how to develop a Flex application such that I could provide implementation classes at runtime. In the Java world I'd specify interfaces in an JAR (e.g. myapp-api.jar), the implementation in a separate JAR (e.g. myapp-impl.jar) and package these along with other resources in the application WAR (e.g. myapp.war). Within the code of the application I would instantiate the implementation classes dynamically. Is this approach possible in Flex? I'm aware that I can instantiate classes dynamically so that's a good start. I'm a bit confused by modules, RSLs and SWCs though. I was hoping to create a SWF application that had references to an interfaces SWC and an implementation SWC. The idea is that if I need to tweak the application for a specific customer then I could create a new implementation SWC and not have to modify the SWF or interface SWC. Any ideas?

Is it possible to create an msi that will install the app and the 11 web services and also set-up the app pools & create the apps in IIS? Or would I need an individual setup for each web service?     Welcome to OpenWorld! OpenWorld 2012 got underway today with a series of meetings with the members of the WebCenter Customer Advisory Board. Led by the WebCenter Product Management team, these meetings are a great way for the product team and customers to directly interact and discuss real-life business challenges, product details and to discuss upcoming features and functionality. This year, board members participated in discussions around live demos around product enhancements that will be featured throughout the coming week. Highlights included a variety of new mobile and social solutions, a great new user interface for WebCenter Content plus new Portal and Sites functionality that makes the experience for the everyday user a lot more pleasant. The day kicked off with Roel Stalman, VP of Product Management, giving a detailed overview of what’s new in WebCenter. Given all the improvements to discuss, this session went over 2 hours! Roel showcased the brand new UI for Content, Portal and Sites. He also gave live demos of the new mobile apps for WebCenter Content, Portal and the Oracle Social Network.  The attendees then broke into sub-groups in order to deep-dive with Product Management for the Portal, Sites, and Content product areas on specific functionality and application integrations.
