    I'm doing my first ASP.NET MVC2 project and I can't get past the "A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected..." error when trying to submit a form. I've done this in MVC1 using the ValidateInputAttribute and I've read about the breaking change in .NET 4 that requires setting the request validation mode in the web.config.     I created a SDF (SQL CE) database with Visual Studio 2008 (Add / New Item / Local Database). Is it possible to edit this database with SQL Server Management Studio? I tried to attach it but it only offered .mdf and attaching a .sdf file results in "failed to retrieve data for this request". If so, is it possible to create SDF files with Management Studio as well? Or are we stuck with the simple interface of the Visual Studio 2008 database manager?

    Hi, I installed Tomcat 6.0.18 on Windows 2003 as a service. I try to set the CATALINA_OPTS environment variable but it seems to be ignored by Tomcat. Do I need to use the Tomcat Service Manager (procrun) instead? Is it normal that if I install Tomcat as a service it doesn't see the enviroment variables but it only wotks with procrun? THANKS

  • Migrating to web application with AjaxControlToolkit

    Hi All, We are currently migrating our ASP.NET website to a web application in Visual Studio 2008. Most of the process has been fairly straight forward, but I have hit one block that is driving me a bit nuts. We are using the AjaxControlToolkit for some functionality, specifically an AutoControlExtender. When this is run locally through VS's development server the extender (dropdown) does not render after the service returns the resultset. However if I deploy the migrated solution to our UAT server the extender functions correctly. I have ensured the Ajax Control Toolkit is properly installed locally on my dev machine (and the dll available in the bin directory), and using debugging have ensured the service is called correctly and runs through without error (which it does). The web application was taken from a server running IIS7. Can anyone confirm if Visual Studio 2008 development server requires a different configuration to IIS 7 (as I believe IIS 6 requires a different configuration to IIS 7), and if there is a resource that provides more info? My own searches have turned up very little in this area. On the other hand, if I am looking in the wrong area any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks Chris

I tried implementing try catch in my stored procedure..i m using sql server 2005 but it does not know TRY and CATCH keywords or ERROR_MESSAGE() function...i also installed sql server 2005 service manager but still it does not work.. if an error is thrown using RAISERROR method will the exception will be shown in my ASP.NET form??

    Hi there, We seem to be having a problem with the spell checker on our content management system where it marks the ve part of We’ve as a misspelling. The spellchecker uses aspell which is called from a script on the server which executes the cmd.exe and uses it to pipe a file into aspell (it's a long winded way I know, but our server side programming langauge (ColdFusion) doesn't support writing to stdin for executables). Aspell is called by executing: c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe /c type d:\path_to_file\file.txt | "C:\Program Files\Aspell\bin\aspell" --lang=en -a Where file.txt contains the text to be spelled e.g. ^Oh have We’ve (the carat is added to prevent piping problems I believe).   • SSRS Broken Embedded Image

    I have a SQL Server Reporting Services report with an embedded image in the header. It works fine in preview mode and if I inspect the RDL file, it has the encoded image stream in there. However, when I deploy the report to the server and view the report in the Report Manager, the image shows with a broken X icon. Has anyone experienced this?
