  • No test coverage files generated for Unit Test bundle in Xcode

    - by John Gallagher
The Problem I've got a Cocoa project on the desktop and I'm using Xcode 3.2.1 on Snow Leopard 10.6.2. I want to generate code coverage files for my Unit Test Target in Xcode. What I've Tried As articles like this one suggest, I've adjusted the build settings to: “Generate Test Coverage Files” checked “Instrument Program Flow” checked “-lgcov” added to “Other Linker Flags” I've also set the Run Script section of the test target to have the following: # Run the unit tests in this test bundle. "${SYSTEM_DEVELOPER_DIR}/Tools/RunUnitTests" # Run gcov on the framework getting tested if [ "${CONFIGURATION}" = 'Coverage' ]; then FRAMEWORK_NAME=LapsusInterpretationEngine FRAMEWORK_OBJ_DIR=${OBJROOT}/${FRAMEWORK_NAME}.build/${CONFIGURATION}/EngineTests.build/Objects-normal/${NATIVE_ARCH} mkdir -p coverage pushd coverage find ${OBJROOT} -name *.gcda -exec gcov -o ${FRAMEWORK_OBJ_DIR} {} \; popd fi Since my Framework name is LapsusInterpretationEngine but my target is named EngineTests, I put this directly into the FRAMEWORK_OBJ_DIR but this didn't seem to help. I've tried cleaning before building. I've made sure all the above build settings apply to both the Unit Test Target and the Application Target. What I Get No .gcda or .gcno files anywhere in the build directory I'm using. I point CoverStory to the Objects-normal directory in my builds folder and it complains that there's nothing there for it to read. I must be doing something really obvious wrong. Anyone any ideas? I have tried the "EngineTests.build" directory being ${FRAMEWORK_NAME} and this gives the same results.

  • ASP.NET MVC Using Castle Windsor IoC

    - by Mad Halfling
I have an app, modelled on the one from Apress Pro ASP.NET MVC that uses castle windsor's IoC to instantiate the controllers with their respective repositories, and this is working fine e.g. public class ItemController : Controller { private IItemsRepository itemsRepository; public ItemController(IItemsRepository windsorItemsRepository) { this.itemsRepository = windsorItemsRepository; } with using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.Mvc; using Castle.Windsor; using Castle.Windsor.Configuration.Interpreters; using Castle.Core.Resource; using System.Reflection; using Castle.Core; namespace WebUI { public class WindsorControllerFactory : DefaultControllerFactory { WindsorContainer container; // The constructor: // 1. Sets up a new IoC container // 2. Registers all components specified in web.config // 3. Registers all controller types as components public WindsorControllerFactory() { // Instantiate a container, taking configuration from web.config container = new WindsorContainer(new XmlInterpreter(new ConfigResource("castle"))); // Also register all the controller types as transient var controllerTypes = from t in Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetTypes() where typeof(IController).IsAssignableFrom(t) select t; foreach (Type t in controllerTypes) container.AddComponentWithLifestyle(t.FullName, t, LifestyleType.Transient); } // Constructs the controller instance needed to service each request protected override IController GetControllerInstance(Type controllerType) { return (IController)container.Resolve(controllerType); } } } controlling the controller creation. I sometimes need to create other repository instances within controllers, to pick up data from other places, can I do this using the CW IoC, if so then how? I have been playing around with the creation of new controller classes, as they should auto-register with my existing code (if I can get this working, I can register them properly later) but when I try to instantiate them there is an obvious objection as I can't supply a repos class for the constructor (I was pretty sure that was the wrong way to go about it anyway). Any help (especially examples) would be much appreciated. Cheers MH

  • WCF identity when moving from dev to prod. environment

    - by Anders Abel
I have a web service developed with WCF. In the development environment the endpoint has the following identity section under the endpoint configuration. <identity> <dns value="myservice.devdomain.local" /> </identity> myservice.devdomain.local is the dns name used to reach the development version of the service. The binding used is: <basicHttpBinding> <binding name ="myBinding"> <security mode ="TransportCredentialOnly"> <transport clientCredentialType="Windows"/> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> I am about to put this into production. The binding will be the same, but the address will be a new production address myservice.proddomain.local. I have planned to change the dns value in the configuration to myservice.proddomain.local in the production environment. However this MSDN article on WCF Identity makes me worried about the impact on the clients when I change the identity. There are two clients - one .NET and one Java using this service. Both of those have been developed against the dev instance of the service. The idea is to just reconfigure the endpoint used by the clients, without reloading the WSDL. But if the identity is somehow part of the WSDL and the identity changes when deploying to prod that might not work. Will the new identity in the prod version cause issues for the clients that were developed using the dev wsdl? Do the Java and the .NET clients handle this differently?

  • Examples of usability disasters?

    - by Willie Wheeler
Anybody have good examples of usability disasters? Here's an example. Hector is a manager with a large team. Department admin wants to send Hector a spreadsheet with his team's salaries. She types "Hector" in the Outlook "To:" field. It autocompletes to "Hector's Team" but she doesn't notice that until after she sends it.

  • MSBuild "Wrapper" fails while VS2010 "Pure" compile succeeds for MFC application in CruiseControl.NE

    - by ee
The Overview I am working on a Continuous Integration build of a MFC appliction via CruiseControl.net and VS2010. When building my .sln, a "Visual Studio" CCNet task (devenv) works, but a wrapper MSBuild script run via the CCNet MSBuild task fails with errors like: error RC1015: cannot open include file 'winres.h'.. error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'afxwin.h': No such file or directory error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'afx.h': No such file or directory The Question How can I adjust the build environment of my msbuild wrapper so that the application builds correctly? (Pretty clearly the MFC paths aren't right for the msbuild environment, but how do i fix it for MSBuild+VS2010+MFC+CCNet?) Background Details We have successfully upgraded an MFC application (.exe with some MFC extension .dlls) to Visual Studio 2010 and can compile the application without issue on developer machines. Now I am working on compiling the application on the CI server environment I did a full installation of VS2010 (Professional) on the build server. In this way, I knew everything I needed would be on the machine (one way or another) and that this would be consistent with developer machines. VS2010 is correctly installed on the CI server, and the devenv task works as expected I now have a wrapper MSBuild script that does some extended version processing and then builds the .sln for the application via an MSBuild task. This wrapper script is run via CCNet's MSBuild task and fails with the above mentioned errors My Assumptions This seems to be a missing/wrong configuration of include paths to standard header resources of the MFC persuasion I should be able to coerce the MSBuild environment to consider the relevant resource files from my VS2010 install and have this approach work. But how do I do that? Am I setting Environment variables? Registry settings? I can see how one can inject additional directories in some cases, but this seems to need a more systemic configuration at the compiler defaults level.

  • How to figure out what error my Java Eclipse project has?

    - by Greg Mattes
I've created a Java project from existing source with an Ant build script in Eclipse. I cannot run my project because Eclipse tells me that there is at least one error in it. Now, I know that the project runs fine on the command line, so I suspect an Eclipse configuration error. As far as I can tell, the only feedback that I have from Eclipse is a little red X on my project in the Package Explorer window and dialog window when I try to run the project says there are errors in the project This is all wonderful, but what is the error? Is there a "show me the next error" button somewhere? In the past, on other Eclipse projects, I've notice other little red X's on folders containing source files with errors, the little red X's appear on the source files as well. I scanned (manually) through all of the source files and I haven't found any other red X's (again, where is the "next error" button?). If I select the "Proceed" button I am greeted with a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError for my main class, which makes me suspect a classpath issue. I've checked the classpath, and I'm fairly certain that it's correct. Is there a way to see the exact jvm command line that Eclipse is invoking? I realize that it might be invoking the JVM programmatically, and not on a "real" command line. In any case, is there a way, other than the run configuration dialog, to see what is actually happening when I hit the "Proceed" button?

  • .htaccess equivalent of baseurl?

    - by Ryan
Hello, I'm trying to install Symfony on a shared server and am attempting to duplicate the httpd.conf command: # Be sure to only have this line once in your configuration NameVirtualHost 127.0.0.1:8080 # This is the configuration for your project Listen 127.0.0.1:8080 <VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:8080> DocumentRoot "/home/sfproject/web" DirectoryIndex index.php <Directory "/home/sfproject/web"> AllowOverride All Allow from All </Directory> Alias /sf /home/sfproject/lib/vendor/symfony/data/web/sf <Directory "/home/sfproject/lib/vendor/symfony/data/web/sf"> AllowOverride All Allow from All </Directory> </VirtualHost> I need to do so using .htaccess The redirect portion was done in the root using the following: Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine on rewritecond %{http_host} ^symfony.mysite.ca [nc] rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://symfony.mysite.ca/web/$1 [r=301,nc] For the alias, I've tried using: RewriteBase / but no success. The main issue is that the index.php file residing in the /web folder uses the /web path in its path to images and scripts. So instead of href="/css/main.css" //this would work it uses href="/web/css/main.css" //this doesn't work, already in the /web/ directory! Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Most Astonishing Violation of the Principle of Least Astonishment

    - by Adam Liss
The Principle of Least Astonishment suggests that a system should operate as a user would expect it to, as much as possible. In other words, it should never "astonish" the user with unexpected behavior. In your experience as the "astonishee," what types of systems are the worst offenders, and if you were the project manager, how would you correct the problem? Bonus if your answer describes how you'd retrain the developers!

  • Extending timeout and message size in WCF service generated by Biztalk 2006 R2

    - by Sergej Andrejev
Hi, I'm generating WCF service using Biztalk. The code I get is this: <system.serviceModel> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="ServiceBehaviorConfiguration"> <serviceDebug httpHelpPageEnabled="true" httpsHelpPageEnabled="false" includeExceptionDetailInFaults="false" /> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true" httpsGetEnabled="false" externalMetadataLocation="" /> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> <services> <!-- Note: the service name must match the configuration name for the service implementation. --> <service name="Microsoft.BizTalk.Adapter.Wcf.Runtime.BizTalkServiceInstance" behaviorConfiguration="ServiceBehaviorConfiguration"> <endpoint name="HttpMexEndpoint" address="mex" binding="mexHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="" contract="IMetadataExchange" /> <!--<endpoint name="HttpsMexEndpoint" address="mex" binding="mexHttpsBinding" bindingConfiguration="" contract="IMetadataExchange" />--> </service> </services> </system.serviceModel> Maybe it's not the most beautifull configuration, but it works. The problem is I don't know how to modify timeouts and message max size, because it has only mex endpoint. I'm surprised how this works at all with just mex endpoint. So two questions are: Why does this works at all? What should I add to extend timeouts and message size?

  • Mysterious socket / HttpWebRequest timeouts

    - by Daniel Mošmondor
I have a great app for capturing shoutcast streams :-) . So far, it worked with a charm on dozens of machines, and never exhibited behaviour I found now, which is ultimately very strange. I use HttpWebRequest to connect to the shoutcast server and when I connect two streams, everything's OK. When I go for third one, response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse(); throws with Connection Timeout exception. WTF? I must point out that I had to create .config for the application in order to allow my headers to be sent out from the application, otherwise it wouldn't work at all. Here it is: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <system.net> <settings> <httpWebRequest useUnsafeHeaderParsing = "true" /> </settings> </system.net> </configuration> Does any of this ring a bell?

  • .Net Windows Services and InstallState file - is it really needed?

    - by BrettRobi
I've got a number of managed code Windows Services for which we use the Frameworks InstallUtil tool to install into the service control manager. This tool creates a new file at install time with an extension of .InstallState. I have experimented with deleting this file and an uninstall still works fine afterwards. So my questions is, what is this file for and is there any reason I shouldn't delete it?

  • Hibernate fails with NullPointerException in EntityTuplizerFactory.constructTuplizer? Why?

    - by Subtwo
I have a problem when I try to instantiate Hibernate and connect with a MySQL database (see error message below). Curiously enough the connection works fine using the exact same hibernate.cfg.xml file when running Junit tests but it refuses to work when run from Tomcat... I am starting to run out of ideas. Any clues or tip where to look? • Convert function to read from string instead of file in C

    - by Dusty
I've been tasked with updating a function which currently reads in a configuration file from disk and populates a structure: static int LoadFromFile(FILE *Stream, ConfigStructure *cs) { int tempInt; ... if ( fscanf( Stream, "Version: %d\n",&tempInt) != 1 ) { printf("Unable to read version number\n"); return 0; } cs->Version = tempInt; ... } to one which allows us to bypass writing the configuration to disk and instead pass it directly in memory, roughly equivalent to this: static int LoadFromString(char *Stream, ConfigStructure *cs) A few things to note: The current LoadFromFile function is incredibly dense and complex, reading dozens of versions of the config file in a backward compatible manner, which makes duplication of the overall logic quite a pain. The functions that generate the config file and those that read it originate in totally different parts of the old system and therefore don't share any data structures so I can't pass those directly. I could potentially write a wrapper, but again, it would need to handle any structure passed in in a backwards compatible manner. I'm tempted to just pass the file as is in as a string (as in the prototype above) and convert all the fscanf's to sscanf's but then I have to handle incrementing the pointer along (and potentially dealing with buffer overrun errors) manually. This has to remain in C, so no C++ functionality like streams can help here Am I missing a better option? Is there some way to create a FILE * that actually just points to a location in memory instead of on disk? Any pointers, suggestions or other help is greatly appreciated.

  • Using SoapExtensionAttributes on client side with async web methods

    - by Maxim Polishchuk
Hey, I have a simple question. I implemented custom soap extension and registered it into client application configuration file. It works fine. (I would like to implement progress bar functionality like http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa480520.aspx) But I don't like some thing - custom soap extension is invoked by every call of my web service. In order to fix this situation (call WS just by required methods) I implemented custom SoapExtensionAttribute like below: [AttributeUsage(AttributeTargets.Method)] public class CustomSoapExtensionAttribute : SoapExtensionAttribute { public override int Priority { get; set; } public CustomSoapExtensionAttribute() : this (1) { } public CustomSoapExtensionAttribute(int priority) { Priority = priority; } public override Type ExtensionType { get { return typeof(CustomSoapExtension); } } } I added this attribute to required methods of web service proxy classes (and removed registration into client configuration file). My soap extension doesn't invoke when required web methods are calling. Can someone help me to solve this problem or select any other solution? Anotherone, I don't know it is important or not - my required methods are async web methods. Best regards, Maxim

  • Add a build number to TFS 2010

    - by Vaccano
I have a lot of legacy Delphi 5 & 6 Code. We want to test this code using the new Microsoft Test Manager (part of VS2010) To effectively track your testing using this tool you need to use build numbers. To get Delphi 5 or 6 building in TFS Build 2010 is a huge task. One that I am not sure I want to take on. Is there a way I can just insert my build numbers in to tfs?

I have a persistence.xml file, and everytime I want to query the database, I'm doing this: EntityManagerFactory emf = this.getEntityManagerFactory(); // Surely using persistence.xml to set up the factory EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager(); ... Where do I build the bridge between my external connection pool manager and Toplink? Any ideas or links are welcomed. Regards, Jean

  • Reloading of persisted entity

    - by Udi
I'm using OpenJPA in my application as a JPA vendor. The question is theoretical or conceptual: Is there any way to tell an entity manager to load an entity from the DB rather than from it's cache? The problematic scenario: EM1.persist(Entity1) EM2.merge(Entity1) EM1.find(Entity1) <--- Entity1 is the cached version rather than the merged one.. Any elegant way to do it? I really don't want to call em.refresh(entity).
