    Hi coders out there, I'm new to this. I have a (sqlite3, but with ActiveRecord it doesn't matter) table called Messages and a model called Message. I want to find all messages in database that have user_id or reciever_id equal to the object user and his attribute id (for short user.id). I know it's probably just one simple line of code, but I wanna do it the right "rails" way and I don't have much experience with this. I'm using Rails 3. Thanks for any help. Cheers

I created one MySQL table having columns like- User_id , level, super_id, child1_id, child2_id, child3_id, child4_id, child5_id my question is How can I get all child-user(child to child also) of a particular user at any level do I need to add some more columns in my table??

  • Paging To The End Of A Data View Web Part

    Hi all! Hopefully you can help me with this. I've displayed an Announcement web part on a page with 20 items. I opened up SharePoint Designer 2007 and set the paging to 6 items. I've added a little bit of (OOB) functionality so that I have buttons for START, PREVIOUS, and NEXT. These work well without any problems but I'm wondering how do I get END to work? I tried using the $LastRow & $RealLastRow values supplied by the web part but those just give me the number of how many items are in the current view, not the total items in the list. Little help!

  • Selecting data effectively sql

    Hi, I have a very large table with over 1000 records and 200 columns. When I try to retreive records matching some criteria in the WHERE clause using SELECT statement it takes a lot of time. But most of the time I just want to select a single record that matches the criteria in the WHERE clause rather than all the records. I guess there should be a way to select just a single record and exit which would minimize the retrieval time. I tried ROWNUM=1 in the WHERE clause but it didn't really work cause I guess the engine still checks all the records even after finding the first record matching the WHERE criteria. Is there a way to optimize in case if I want to select just a few records? Thanks in advance. Edit: I am using oracle 10g.

    I am trying to determine a hash function which takes an input (i, k) and determines a unique solution. The possible inputs for (i, k) range from 0 to 100. Consider each (i, k) as a position of a node in a trinomial tree. Ex: (0, 0) can diverge to (1, 1) (1, 0) (1, -1). (1, 1) can diverge to (2, 2) (2, 1) (2, 0).     I have a combobox that is bound to a an instance of a class. I need to get the user's selection ID of the combobox and set a class property equal to it.     I am trying to find a way to display numerical digits as a larger font size than chars on a website (not my idea!). The reason for this is to make the numbers stand out. I have looked for a font that would satisfy this without coding but I could not find any. Also, I don't want to slow down the website by having the font coverted to an image.   • Would my situation be an appropriate place to use the ' /i ' REGEX attribute?

    I am making a large catalogue of all of the possible OS names that can be supported by my particular version of VMWare. Originally I was writing them all as they stood in the VMX files but then I found a website that had them all listed, the problem is they are not properly cased to provide a "perfect" match, would this be the perfect time to use the regex attribute for case insensitivity? Also as a side question, would it be possibly extract the list of OSs from the website?. They look to be in a HTML formated chart. It would save me a lot of time having to type them all out.
