• Can I import an existing member data used in old ASP to a new ASP.NET membership database? [closed]

  I have an old website that I designed and still maintain using old ASP that has a membership database (MS-SQL) that I built from scratch. It is a very simple database that has all the user information in one table (including login info and personal info) and then details and other odds and ends in other tables. It is WAY past time to upgrade this to .NET, especially since I need to add a Paypal payment system into it as soon as I can. I've designed several other sites with membership in .NET, but they have all been from scratch. Is there an easy way to transition from the old ASP site to a new .NET membership database without losing the data? There are hundreds of users with thousands of records relating to those users that I'd rather not lose, if possible. Any ideas on a relatively painless way to do this?

• When attempting to install ubuntu 12.04 from CD, I am stuck on black streen with "loading bootlogo..."

  I downloaded Ubuntu 12.04 to my desktop and burned to a CD using Infra Recorder and instructions on ubuntu website. Restarted PC to boot from CD receive black screen with "Loading bootlogo..." then nothing happens and I have to restart with windows. The CD seems to be correct. • Authentication for users on a Single Page App?

  I have developed a single page app prototype that is using Backbone on the front end and going to consume from a thin RESTful API on the server for it's data. Coming from heavy server side application development (php and python), I have really enjoyed the new different design approach with a thick client side MVC but am confused on how best to restrict the app to authenticated users who log in. I prefer to have the app itself behind a login and would also like to implement other types of logins eventually (openid, fb connect, etc) in addition to the site's native login. I am unclear how this is done and have been searching - but unsuccessful in finding information that made it clear to me. In the big picture, what is the current best practice for registering users and requiring them to login to use your single page app? Once a user is logged in, how are the api requests authenticated? Can I store a session but how do I detect for this session in the API calls? Any answers to this would be much appreciated!

Visual studio is doing some magic to replace it during compile/build time with the full assembly signature. The following apply to these tokens or replaceable parameters - Tokens can be specified anywhere in a line. Tokens cannot span multiple lines. The same token may be specified multiple times on the same line and in the same file. Different tokens may be specified on the same line. • How Can Someone With Minimum Programming Experience Publish an App of an Existing Program not found in the Software Centre?

  There's a free mathematics software that I would like to see in Ubuntu Software Centre, called, 'Sage.' I have minimal experience in programming, so I'm basically here asking if someone could either tell me how to accomplish this without said instructions being completely over my head or if someone could do it for me. For further information here's the sage homepage: http://sagemath.org/ and the .tar.lzma file for its installation is ~500MB and it takes around 2.2 GB on the HDD when installed, I found at least on 32 bit i386 Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. • Install AMDCONFIG on Ubuntu driver

  In 12.04 I used the official driver downloaded from amd.com which came with amdconfig but now in 14.04 the official driver is buggy so I just use the Ubuntu Official Drivers which works even better because they beefed up the original driver. The Ubuntu driver doesnt come with the terminal command amdconfig which allowed me to tweak/overclock my graphics card. How can I install it without having to install the original AMD driver? Additional Information: -I only use x.org drivers becuase it's opensource therefore more stable rather than the proprietary fglrx driver -I do not use procrams like amdoverdrivectrl or atioverclock because they are not as stable and advanced as the terminal command

• Expand size of Edubuntu partition on dual boot PC

  I wasn't allowed to update to the next release of Edubuntu recently. It gave me an error stating that I did not have enough space to run the update. How can I expand the size of the Edubuntu partition to allow me to update? I am new to Linux so I hope that I am giving you enough and correct information on my system. I am using an older Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop. My root.disk file is 16.3Gb and the system.disk file is 256Mb. I would appreciate someone to point me to documentation or give me instructions on how to do this. Thank you.

  I'm trying to add more structural information to my webpages by using the microdata format suggested in www.schema.org. The procedure seems straight forward but I'm having issues validating my results in the Google Rich Snippets Testing Tool. Check out this review page, here I'm using the 'reviewRating' property item to specify rating values for that particular review. I followed the same format as defined in schema.org/Rating but this markup fails validation in Google's rich snippet testing tool with the following error info. Item Type: http://schema.org/rating reviewrating = 5 ratingvalue = 5 Warning: Property "reviewrating" was not found.

• Oracle Hosts Successful PeopleSoft Customer Advisory Board Meetings

However, by reading the paper you will start reading a query plan and you will understand how it works the optimization found by Chris Webb one month ago to the events-in-progress scenario. The white paper also contains a more optimized query (10 time faster), even if the performance depends on data distribution and the best choice really depends on the data you have. Now you should be curious enough to read the paper until the end, because the more optimized query is the last example in the paper!

• Sharing VBO with multiple objects and fixed size buffer data

  I'm just messing around with OpenGL and getting some basic structures in place and my first attempt resulted in each SceneObject class (just contains vertex information right now) having it's own VBO inside it, however I've read that it might be better to share VBOs across multiple objects. Also, I read that you should avoid resizing a VBO (repeated calls to glBufferData with different size parameters), and instead choose a fixed size for a VBO, and just try a range from the buffer. I don't think changing the size of the buffer data would happen too often, but surely it would be better to only allocate the data you need? Choosing an arbitrary value seems risky. I'm looking for some advice on working with individual objects in a scene and their associated buffer data.

• Current state of the art for holographic displays?

  In another thread I was asking about independent arcade system development, and partly it was because I'm interested in using available 3D holographic technology for the displays. I saw one which involved a rotating mirror at very high speeds, so that's probably not going to be too feasible (I'd hate to think of what happens when something goes wrong). • Web Usage Policies at "Best Companies to Work For"

  For any company that has made it onto a "Best Companies to Work For" list* in 2010 that hires programmers, what restrictions on web usage do they have in place? Does that company view unrestricted internet access as a benefit to their employees even if they might use it for non-work related reasons? If you can provide a link to back up this information, even better. (* I don't want to promote any specific publication, but they are easy enough to find.) My hypothesis is that a company that aspires to be one of the best needs to provide fairly unrestricted internet access and I'm trying to test it.

• eDelivery (Delivery Cloud) Housekeeping - removal of obsolete EPM products

  You may have noticed that Weblogic Server (WLS) 9.2.X and WLS 10.0.X releases have been removed from the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud. The Delivery Team has been asked to remove or update any product pack or product that embeds WLS 10.3.2 or earlier versions. This is consistent with general Oracle practice of removing old product versions from public distribution systems, and encourages customer usage and adoption of newer product releases such as WLS 10.3.3 or newer.  For the convenience of existing supported customers, a media request SR on My Oracle Support can be entered to obtain any removed media.  Information on how to open such an SR can be found on  MOS Doc ID 1071023.1 . OTN will also be reviewed and similar modifications may potentially be done.  The following media packs will be removed from E-Delivery this week, as of the above reason.
