• CommunityEngine + TinyMCE + Safari or Chrome + My server sometimes generate corrupted code

  Hello All, I'm using Community engine. It is really a great job But I encountered a strange phenomenon I couldn't solve it. This problem happens only when I open any page contains tinymce by using safari or chrome browsers. There is a weird code injecting itself in the original code.   I have with me a Debian CD, which I want to customize for my own needs. I have extracted the CD and started to change some parts of it, e.g Splash screen (splash.png) installer Title (through isolinux.cfg) etc These are the things that I want to do: Change the Splash logo at start up of installation to have my own (which is done) Change the grub boot parameters to use my comapny name on it. Change the set of packages in it, so that I can have my own set of packages in it and only those packages are installed Do some post installation steps Customize it's startup and login screen to have my company name. After I am done with this customization, I need to build its live installer CD so that I can install it on my own, on any other system.

• How to make quicksilver remember custom trigger

  I am trying to make a custom trigger for my shell/apple script file to run so I can just launch my dev environment at the push of a button. So basically: I have a shell script(and some apple script included) in ~ named start_server.sh which does 3 things: start up solr server start up memcached start up script/server I have a saved quicksilver command(.qs) that opens up start_server.sh(so start_server.sh, then the action is "Run in Terminal") I created a custom trigger that calls this saved qs command. I did that then tested it and it works. I then tried to double check it so I quit quicksilver and when I checked the triggers it just said: "Open (null)" as the action. I set the trigger again and when i restarted QS the same thing happened again. I don't know why but my old custom trigger to open terminal has worked since forever so why doesn't this one work? • GPO - Setting not applied, although policy is applied

  This is rather strange. In our domain we have several terminal servers and this morning a user reported that no drives are mapped when he logs on to the terminal server. So, I checked Group Policy Results and compare two users. Both users have the exact same policies applied. But for this particular user, the Script section under User Configuration - Policies - Windows Settings is just not there. For the other user, which this is working fine for, it says under the Script section that Winning GPO is Terminal2008, which is the GPO that contains the script section. And the Terminal2008 GPO is applied to both users. Also, the loopback processing is set to Replace. What could be the cause for this? I've never seen this particular issue before. I mean, both users are in the same OU, they log on to the same terminal server and the same policies are applied to both. They do not however have the exact same group memberships, but should that matter? It's not stated that the script should be run only if the user is a member of a certain group either. Not sure if that could be done through that specific setting either.All I know is, the very same policies are applied to both users, in the same OU and the same computer. Meaning, the same policies should be applied? Edit: I just ran Group Policy Results on one of the other terminal servers, which are also in the same OU, and the Scripts section is there! This means that this particular user don't get this setting when he's logged onto this particular server. What could be the cause of this?

• Disable log rotation for apache or move file location

  I need to change the log retention for apache, currently is seems to be running on the default from logrotate.conf which is weekly. It creates 'access_log.1' 'access_log.2' and so on for each week. The problem is it deletes the last log file every week, 'access_log.5', I need the logs to keep going infinitely instead of the last log being deleted every week. It seems to be running on the default value from logrotate.conf - I don't want to change the default values held in that file, so I assume there is a way to change the retention using the /etc/logrotate.d/httpd file? the contents are as follows: /var/log/httpd/*log { missingok notifempty sharedscripts postrotate /sbin/service httpd reload > /dev/null 2>/dev/null || true endscript } what can I add/change to stop the last log being deleted every week?

• Changing default install path in Windows 7

  I'm trying to change the default install path in Windows 7 Pro x64. I'm in the Registry Editor and in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion key. I know I need to change ProgramFilesDir and ProgramFilesDir (x86). What I'm not sure about is the CommonFilesDir, CommonFilesDir (x86) and the ProgramW6432Dir. Do I need to or should I change these values to reflect the new program files directory I'm using? I tried Googling ProgramW6432Dir and didn't get much help.

  Given a network share accessible for "everyone" in the domain, containing several 1000 files and folders When I change permissions for this share from read/write to only read (or vice versa) on windows 2003, the change takes effect instantly. When I do the same on a share on Windows 2008, the dialog stays open for a long time before closing when I click on OK, and the server appears to be accessing a lot of files. What is the reason for this delay? Does Windows 2008 also change ntfs permissions for all files inside the share? If so, why doesn't win2003 have to do that? I do not mind the delay, after all I do not have to change this stuff very often, but I am curious. What are the differences between 2003 and 2008 in this regard?

  I have never used CRON before but I want to use CRON in order to be able to perform schedule jobs for a php script. The server I am using is the university's server known as helios, does CRON need to be set up in helios, (do I have to call the admin for this) or is it something else which uses CRON. I have never used CRON before so can you explain to me how CRON can be set up for the example above with the server I am using? Thanks UPDATE: Hi, I think the name of the OS is actually helios but I am not sure, I have a wikipedia page on this: here. I will read the crontab wikipedia page and see what I can find, but what my question is that is CRON already set up, do I just go right ahead and use CRON or do I need to set it up first?

• Mounting fuse sshfs fails when invoked by Cron on FreeBSD 9.0

  I have a remote server filesystem that I'm attempting to mount locally on a FreeBSD 9 machine via FUSE sshfs, and Cron for a backup routine. I have ssh keys between the boxes setup to allow for passwordless login as the root user on the local machine. Cron is set to run the following script (in Root's crontab): #!/bin/sh echo "Mounting Share" /usr/local/bin/sshfs -C -o reconnect -o idmap=user -o workaround=all <remote user>@<remote domain>.com: /mnt/remote_server As root, I can run this script on the command line without issue, and without being asked for a password the share mounts successfully. Yet, when run by Cron the script fails. The path to sshfs is identical to the value of which sshfs Here is the email root receives from the Cron Daemon: X-Cron-Env: <SHELL=/bin/sh> X-Cron-Env: <HOME=/root> X-Cron-Env: <PATH=/usr/bin:/bin> X-Cron-Env: <LOGNAME=root> X-Cron-Env: <USER=root> Mounting Share fuse: failed to exec mount program: No such file or directory fuse: failed to mount file system: No such file or directory I'm stumped as to why I'm receiving No such file or directory in this instance. It further seems odd given that the paths appear to be correct. I've also attempted to compare the output of env on the shell with env inserted into the script. I don't see any environment variables that should cause this trouble. At bootup, FUSE reports its version as: fuse4bsd: version 0.3.9-pre1, FUSE ABI 7.8 Help me ServerFault wizards, you're my only hope!

• Determine from where is "sh" being run under apache www-data user using using PF or NETSTAT

  I am working with a compromised Ubuntu 8.04 Plesk 9.5.4 server. It seems that a script on the server is continuously doing reverse lookups to random IPs on the Internet. I might get many suggestions that the OS is out of date and so the Plesk, but please bear in mind there are some very concrete reasons why this server is running legacy software. My question is aimed at a advanced Linux systems administrators who have in depth experience with security compromises and using netstat and ps to get to the bottom of it.

• New to server admin, Diagnosing Memory and CPU issues on DV

  Sorry for my ignorance and lack of knowledge. I'm a PHP/Front-end developer just now venturing into very minor server management/diagnostics. I have a Media Temple DV account. I have 2 sites that run a PHP script through a subscription service to an API. Basically API hits site with said script. Script runs, gathers data from api, saves data to SQL database. I noticed that these sites seemed to causing memory overages on my server (not sure why). So I temporarily disabled them. The memory overage alerts stopped but my CPU still sits really high, like at 115% and above. I'm trying to diagnos this with tutorials and resources but just can't seem to find a solution. I'll attach screenshots(screenshots are without the PHP scripts I assume are responsible for the memory issues) I'm assuming are important to the diagnosis, but if anyone can point me in the right direction to start A. figuring out if and why the PHP script may be causing memory overages and B. • How to add a writable folder to the PHP document root on linux

  We are building an example bash script for our PHP TestCoverage Tool use on Linux. The development environment is Ubuntu 12.04_1 but we intend to have the linux example work across as many linux versions as possible without modification. The example linux script requires a variable be set to the PHP Document Root path and by default uses a small PHP example source to show the user how our GUI and text report shows the covered and uncovered PHP code areas. The linux script is also intended to be easily alterable by the user to automate the TestCoverage display of users PHP code. The problem we are having with Ubuntu 12.04 (any linux?) is that the PHP Apache2 document root is defined in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default as /var/www and /var/www is defaulted with "drwxr-xr-x" read only access. So in order to add our own folder as /var/www/SDTestCoverage we must change /var/www to "drwxrwxrwx" read-write access. So it seems our script (at least on Ubuntu) will need to ... 1. acquire and save the /var/www permissions then do .. 2. sudo chmod 777 /var/www (to make writable) 3. mkdir -p /var/www/SDTestCoverage (create our folder under the document root) 4. sudo chmod 777 /var/www/SDTestCoverage (make our subfolder writable) 5. and finally restore /var/www permissions Thanks and our Questions are .. 1. Is this the standard way (using Ubuntu) one adds a writable folder under the PHP Document Root? 2. Is this the most general purpose way one adds a writable folder under the PHP Document Root on other versions of Linux?

• Is domain-transfer inherently safe for downtime when the name servers remain the same?

  I've been reading around this topic towards understanding whether there's some or no chance of downtime during an upcoming domain transfer for 15 live and very critical domains. In our case there are three companies involved: CompanyA is the original registrar and DNS host, CompanyB is the new DNS host, and CompanyC is the new registrar. I've already changed the nameservers for all domains to those of CompanyB. We suffered some downtime because CompanyA deleted their hosted DNS for our domains directly after the change, but the changes propagated and we're now able to configure our DNS with CompanyB. From what I understand (please correct where wrong!): There exists an SOA record that points oneofourdomains.com to ns.companyb.com. That record is maintained and authoritatively hosted by the ccTLD registry for the domain (eg. Verisign for .com). CompanyA currently has the ability to change the SOA record because they're the registrar. There exist NS records for oneofourdomains.com, which are also related to the link from domain name to nameserver, are similarly hosted by the ccTLD, and which CompanyA are also able to change while acting as registrar. Neither CompanyB nor CompanyC currently have any control over the SOA or NS records. CompanyA are unable to cause us (DNS) problems during the transfer by dropping service early, because they are not the authoritative source for the SOA and NS records. When we transfer the domains, it's administrative control of the SOA and NS records that will be transferred to CompanyC. As long as we advise CompanyC that the SOA and NS records must not change (as regards pointing to CompanyB's nameservers), there's no need for any kind of DNS change, and therefore no possibility of downtime. Is my understanding of this correct? My fear is that CompanyA will somehow cut us off again, and their support dept hasn't given me much confidence in their understanding of the topic.

  I'm looking for a guidance on an issue we're having. We are hosting an application over terminal services through RDWeb on Windows 2008 Server. To give users the ability to change their password we've exposed the iisadmpwd to allow the users to change their passwords. When the users change their password, they are prompted to log into broker server, even if they log off of the RDWeb page and log back in. What we've found is that the credentials seem to be cached in memory after logging in. Ending task on TSWBPRXY.EXE, WKSPRT.EXE, closing IE and logging back into the RDWEb page, then launching the application allows the user to log into the application without additional credentials. I'm wondering if there is a better way to either have the user change their password from a web interface, but allow them to reestablish their connection from the RDWeb login page rather than through the RDP login prompt that comes up.

• printer assignments for windows xp workstations within an active directory environment

  I'm using the following script to handle removing any old networked printers from machines and then assigning the propper ones and making one of them the default. This script is assigned to the OU the workstations reside in and uses group policy loopback so all users that login will get the appropriate printers mapped for them. I tried to use the new Printer Manager as part of W2K3 R2 but when assigning the default this way I get an error that the printer doesn't exist so I'm back to using the script. One flaw that I'm noticing is that it won't remove any printers that happen to be mapped from an RDP session (we don't see this everywhere but there are a few locations). Is there any way to enumerate all RDP printers and remove them similar to how I'm enumerating and removing networked printers? ' ' Printers.vbs - Windows Logon Script. • How to auto syncronize files with network drive on Windows XP?

  Windows XP: I would like to auto synchronize files between a a local drive and a network drive. I am aware of Windows Briefcase but it is very slow and I have to tell it to synchronize. I really like the way Dropbox does there synchronization as it is almost instantaneous. It is very impressive. I would just use Dropbox but I cannot install it on the remote machine. Is there some tool or script I can create that will watch a particular folder for any changes and then sync those changes to the networked drive automatically and nearly instantaneously? CLARIFICATION: I would like this tool/script to to be a daemon that starts when windows starts and continually monitors a folder for any changes to its contents. Once it observes changes in the source or the destination it synchronizes the files that changed (Very similar to the way Dropbox works). I have a good idea about how I would do this in a Perl script and if a tool does not exist that does this I will write it myself in Perl. If someone has already done this can they share the script?

  I know how to change my color scheme in Vista. What I despair about is that after I change it, if I switch to another scheme (such as back to Aero), my customized scheme is gone. If I want, I can take another 30 minutes to customize it so it doesn't burn out my eyes. Is there any way to save this scheme? I tried doing the color scheme change, then trying to save the whole thing as a theme, all to no avail.

  I'm trying to get a unicorn server to start when the server boots. Since I ran the code succesfully as the ubuntu user I modified the script to let it always use the ubuntu user via sudo. #!/bin/sh case "$1" in start) cd /home/ubuntu/projects/asbest/current/ sudo -u ubuntu unicorn_rails -c /home/ubuntu/projects/asbest/current/config/unicorn.rb -D -E production ;; stop) if ps aux | awk '{print $2 }' | grep `cat ~/projects/asbest/current/tmp/pids/unicorn.pid`> /dev/null; then sudo -u ubuntu kill `cat ~/projects/asbest/current/tmp/pids/uni$ ;; restart) $0 stop $0 start ;; esac After rebooting unicorn still wouldn't start, so I tried running the script from the command line. Now I get the following error sudo: unicorn_rails: command not found I've searched high and low to what could cause this, but I'm afraid I've tapped my limited understanding of Linux. From what I can understand is that although sudo should use the ubuntu user to execute the commands, it still uses the environment of the root user, which isn't configured to run ruby or unicorn. Does anybody have any experience with this?

  I've looked at some examples on the web but I am still struggling with this. I would like to get the value for "descShort" tag within the "indexDesc" tag and then after that display the value from the "last" tag?
