• WPF integrate Windows live authentication for Microsoft health vault

  Hi all, I'm just wondering if there's any way for WPF application integrated with windows live ID? and it's actually for windows health vault [www.healthvault.com] so health vault is using windows live id or open id to login into their system. and what i gonna do is, creating wpf application (instead of web application) for health vault, so all of the login form username pass and everything is handled inside the wpf application without showing/using any internet browser. so since this's quite new for me, i hope if there's somebody ever did this before especially for health vault system that run on standalone wpf app. alright, so that's it, thank you in advance!

• Ruby on Rails - Send JavaScript to view

  Hey, I am creating a website in Ruby on Rails. I have a controller action that renders a view like so: def show time_left = Time.now.to_i - 3.hours.to_i @character = current_user.characters.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| format.html # show.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @character } end end This is fine as it renders the show.html.erb as I like. I would like however to somehow pass time_left to the view as a Javascript variable as this value is use by a countdown JQuery plugin. I could put a javascript block on the page in the HTML and print a instance variable out like so: <script type="javascript"> $('#countdown').countdown('<%= @time_left =>')</script> But I would like to keep all my JS in a external file and off the page could anyone give some advice on how to implement this? • Environment variable (NLS_LANG) value altered in Java process?

  This was noticed in some legacy Java application (jre1.4 on HP-UX). Parent process (shell script S1) is starting Java process, which on its own is starting child process (shell script S2). Schematically it's: S1 Java S2. NB! Java application connects to Oracle DB using OCI driver. What is strange here is that process running S1 has environment variable NLS_LANG set to american_america.BLT8MSWIN1257, Java spawns S2 using: Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd); and S2 shows that NLS_LANG is set to american_america.UTF8 (!) This happens on some limited-access environment (production), I was not able to reproduce same problem on linux with jre 1.5. AFAIK, Java process should inherit environment from its parrent (S1) and should pass all environment variables to its child S2 (since single argument exec call was used). However, it does not seem to be the case. Any ideas why NLS_LANG appears to be altered?

  I've been running my Scrapy project with a couple of accounts (the project scrapes a especific site that requieres login credentials), but no matter the parameters I set, it always runs with the same ones (same credentials). I'm running under virtualenv. Is there a variable or setting I'm missing? Edit: It seems that this problem is Twisted related. Even when I run: scrapy crawl -a user='user' -a password='pass' -o items.json -t json SpiderName I still get an error saying: ERROR: twisted.internet.error.ReactorNotRestartable And all the information I get, is the last 'succesful' run of the spider.

• How to synchronize threads in python?

  I have two threads in python (2.7). I start them at the beginning of my program. While they execute, my program reaches the end and exits, killing both of my threads before waiting for resolution.   Hi, I'm trying to format a result from a program but getting an hard time. I wanted to give something like this as result: Res = do(paint(x) do(clean(a), do(repair(b) , initialState))) basically, I want to concatenate successive terms to initialState atom but, it doesn't work with atom_concat since the other terms to concatenate aren't atoms and also I wanted to add the ) everytime I pass through the "do" function. So it would be something like: Res = initialState. When do function was called, I would have a function like concatenateTerm(Pred, Res, Res). Pred beeing repair(b) for instance and obtain the result: res = do(repair(b), initialState). Is this possible to be done? Thanks

• How to customise the TextView inside a Spinner?

  I have a Spinner with an ArrayAdapter that feeds Values into it. The Problem is that the text is to long for the view and the result is a very very ugly spinner. As can be seen in the screenshot: I tried to pass the Id of my own TextView into the Adapter but everytime the spinner should be shown I get an Exception that the Id I supplied is not valid: 04-26 17:38:39.695: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4276): android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: Resource ID #0x7f09003a type #0x12 is not valid Where do I have to define the TextView? In a separate xml file? With a surrounding viewgroup? It would help me a lot if I could see an example of the adapter initialization and the textview definition?

• Asp.net error object not set to a reference

  Hi all, Because I rush in development (a lot of whip cracking here) and declare my objects at the top of the function and instantiate inside my try-catch block, I get a lot of the good old "object not set to an instance of an object" errors while doing TDD, and later if I do miss a branch that object was used in (doing VB now, would prefer C#) or just in every day coding, object not set to an instance of an object is a bit vague. Sure the stack trace sends me to the line the error occured at, but it would be nice if I could modify my logging to either name the object or its type because sometimes I have multiple objects on the same line. It's not the end of the world, but in the end it would save me a few minutes each day. Any ideas on how I can pass the info on which object wasn't set? Thanks

  I am working on a parser for meta programming language using C++ on Linux platform. Right now, I need to implement option/long option for the parser to provide some additional features. Basically, if the user pass in some additional option, the parser needs to store statistics while parsing the text files. I can think of two ways to implement it. One way is to user global to store options entered by users. Another way is to create a singleton class to store options. So I would like to know if there is any other way to implement it. • Retrieve Storage and Programs Memory on .NET Compact Framework 2 and WM5

  Hi! I've been looking for quite a while already and still couldn't find a solution for this. All I need is to retrieve the memory levels and percentage of use. OpenNETCF has a MemoryManagement class, which seems to encapsulates a data structure returned through a P/Invoke or something like that, and it gives me the TotalPhysicalMemory, TotalVirtualMemory, AvailablePhisicalMemory and such, but those do not directly relate to Storage and Programs, nor could I find a way to "convert" these attributes to those I need. Has anyone there already done this? It must be easy, I just need the very same values available on Settings System Memory. Thanks in advance! edit: I'm already being able to retrieve Available and total Storage memory through the GetDiskFreeSpaceEx P/Invoke. Since Storage and Programs memory seem to rely into the same hardware, maybe it's just a case of finding out what path to pass as the method's first parameter.

• php $_REQUEST data is only half-decoded

  I am retrieving a url via querystring. I need to pass it again to the next page. When I retrieve it the first time, using $_REQUEST['url'], only the slashes are decoded, e.g: http://example.com/search~S10?/Xllamas&searchscope=10&SORT=D/Xllamas&searchscope=10&SORT=D&SUBKEY=llamas/51%2C64%2C64%2CB/browse The php docs page for urldecode advises against decoding request data, and says that it will already be decoded. I need it either completely decoded, so I can encode it again without double-encoding some parts, or not decoded at all. I'm not sure why my experience of this data is incongruous with the php docs. Appreciate any help or pointers to same!!

I always got stuck with getting multiple values into one variable. My value structure (used for all values passed around, including variables) looks like this, for example: class Value { public: ValueType type; int integerValue; string stringValue; } Works fine with integers and strings, but how could I implement arrays? (From now on with array I mean arrays in my experimental language, not in C++) How can I fit the array concept into the Value class above? Is it possible? How should I make arrays able to be passed around just as you could pass around integers and strings in my language, using the class above? Accessing array elements or memory allocation wouldn't be the problem, I just don't know how to store them.

I tried using eval, but eval() gives me something like var1, var2...i don't want to insert quotes myself as the vars passed can be integers, or other types. I need to pass this to a function, so that's why i can't just traverse the array and shove it into a string. What is the preferred solution here?

  I've spent the day looking at jQuery plugin: Validation by Jörn Zaefferer. I notice that it works fine as long as you call the validate() method without options. In my little squalid world, as soon as I add options, like errorPlacement, I notice that validation ignores form fields that are not marked required. I also notice that many, many demos mark all fields required---or do not pass options. Am I writing about anything familiar here? Or should I astral project to a parallel universe?

  I'm using the JQuery Validation plugin. I'm using the remote option to make a call to my webservice to check if a company name exists. The webservice only accepts JSON data. I pass the data to the webservice from the Company Input Field in my Form as follows: data: "{'company': '" + $('#Company').val() + "'}" But this always returns a blank value for company so the response is {'company':''} i.e. correct JSON but missing the Company Input Field value. Instead of using the standard "Details" link provided by the auto generated table list, I would like to use the table row as a link to the "Details" view instead. • What's a good way to detect wrap-around in a fixed-width message counter?

  I'm writing a client application to communicate with a server program via UDP. The client periodically makes requests for data and needs to use the most recent server response. The request message has a 16-bit unsigned counter field that is echoed by the server so I can pair requests with server responses. Since it's UDP, I have to handle the case where server responses arrive out of order (or don't arrive at all). Naively, that means holding on to the highest message counter seen so far and dropping any incoming message with a lower number. But that will fail as soon as we pass 65535 messages and the counter wraps back to zero. Is there a good way to detect (with reasonable probability) that, for example, message 5 actually comes after message 65,000? The implementation language is C++.
