<b>MakeTechEasier:</b> "As with most tasks in Linux, there are multiple ways to handle removable devices, but for removable media in particular, KDE's primary tool is the Plasma Device Notifier Widget."
After updating to Ubuntu 11.04.
My computer started to turn off and reboot.
This happens about every half hour,
I think there is a tendency to happen when I work with multiple applications at once.
It is both my Desktop and Labtop.
I has installed-
BOINE Manager,
PlayOnLinix
GIMP,
Qt,
Wine,
VLC-player,
Blender 2.57
Otherwise is all as default.

Yii framework supports modules and also subdirectories in controllers directory, so path to some specific action could be /index.php?r=module/controller/action or /index.php?r=subdirectoryInControllerDir/controller/action. My goal here is to have multiple subdirectories in controllers dir. Inside these folders I would create Controllers with the same names as parent ones using namespaces. However if I wrote
namespace mynamespace;
class MyController extends \MyController {
}
Yii would load MyController instead of mynamespace\MyController;
Any suggestions here?

I am creating a game engine using the JBox2D physics engine. It only allows you to create polygon fixtures up to 8 vertices, To create a body with more than 8 vertices, you need to create multiple fixtures for the body.
My question is, How can I split the polygons a user creates into smaller polygons for JBox2D?
Also, what topology should I use when splitting the polygons and why?
(If JBox2D can have up to 8 vertices, why not split polygons into 8 per polygon)
For the last 15 years, Intel and AMD have been progressively adding special purpose extensions to their processor architectures. The extensions mostly pertain to vector operations with Single Instruction, Multiple Data (SIMD) concept. The motivation was that achieving significant performance improvement over each successive generation for the general purpose elements had become extraordinarily difficult. On the other hand, SIMD performance could be significantly improved with special purpose registers...(read more)

I tried many already built Twitter clone scripts but none was having user-end functionality exactly as twitter. I know enough PHP to code all the twitter's features myself. But is there a faster way than coding myself? I've never used a CMS but if I do then won't I have to search a plugin for every twitter feature, like support for multiple users, options for following-unfollowing users, retweeting (reposting someone else's post), tagging? And I'm afraid that there might be some licensing issues with CMS.
looking to host a handful of sites for myself, family and a couple of friends.
i'm running ubuntu 14.04, with a bind9 authoritative name server, apache2, mysql, php5, postfix/dovecot... i have everything running with a single domain i'm already paying for.
looking to run multiple sites, some with their own domains, with out having to pay for more ip address's or 3rd party services, other then the individual dns names.
thanks

If you want to rank high you need multiple things, here are some search engine ranking tips that will improve the position of your page rank for at least 4 pages. Make sure you spend the extra 15 minutes on optimizing your page for keyword that you have selected. That means, get the keyword density of around 2%, get the keyword mentioned in the first paragraph and the last one.
I've been working with x-cart much lately, and I was thinking about using it for a much larger site, but I don't know if it can handle what I'm looking for. I need a platform or strategy that can allow for as many users as possible where each can post multiple products (hopeful up to a hundred, but that's less important), but in their own private catalogs. So what am I looking for? With x-cart, I'm used to customizing it with jquery, smarty, and php, so I can handle that much.
TrendMicro's Safesync has a nice feature, you can map your local folder to a folder in the cloud with a different name, e.g:
PC1:
C:\my_documents\pictures === office_pictures
c:\my_documents\docs === office_docs
PC2:
C:\my_documents\pictures === private_pictures
c:\my_documents\docs === private_docs
Would this be possible with UbuntuOne? The reason is that I have multiple computers, and I don't want all my "my_documents" folders to sync across work and personal life...
Thanks for a reply or ideas for workarounds! ;-)

Tip of the Trade: If you've ever felt the need to scribble notes on your PDFs without bringing dead trees into the equation, consider the open-source software, Okular, a KDE document reader that can read multiple document formats and allows the user to annotate files as she reads.
This post is about the political issues involved with using multiple languages in a global organization and how to troubleshoot the technical details. The CHAR and VARCHAR data types are NOT suitable for global data. Some people still cling to CHAR and VARCHAR justifying their use by truthfully saying that they only take up half the space of NCHAR and NVARCHAR data types. But you’ll never be able to store Chinese, Korean, Greek, Japanese, Arabic, or many other languages unless you use NCHAR and NVARCHAR...(read more)
I can't find a way to show the "blue mail" indicator
What I think :
this indicator is called "indicator-messages"
Ubuntu change some things (like removing the whitelist)
I tried :
to reinstall indicator-messages package
multiple reboots
to create another account (if there was specific configuration I made in ~/.config)
What I have done :
installed aptitude
aptitude update && aptitude upgrade
fresh install Ubuntu 13.04 amd64
uninstall all packages with ubuntuone (with automatic dependencies)
configure twitter account (settings - online accounts)
installed gwibber
reboot

Is there a reason or an explanation why functions in most(?) programming languages are designed to support any number of input parameters but only one return value?
In most languages, it is possible to "work around" that limitation, e.g. by using out-parameters, returning pointers or by defining/returning structs/classes.
But it seems strange, that programming languages were not designed to support multiple return values in a more "natural" way.
