  • Internet Explorer visual element stacking issue

    Gday All, I know this issue is well known, however I have searched high and low for a solution to no avail. I have created a menu system using nested ordered lists where the menu functionality is controlled by CSS and Jquery. The menu works perfectly in FF, Chrome, Opera and Epiphany. However in IE 6/7/8 my popup menu is being displayed underneath a table. See the image below. The very top box is a div element containing my menu system. I am working with legacy code that uses tables for display so the next box and the "ts found. Try a different subcate" text is in a "td" element of a table. I have tried to force the table to have a lower z-index but this does not work. Any insights into why this is only present in IE would be appreciated. Cheers, Michael

  • Proper way in MVVM to drive visual states.

    Given a content presenter that can display one of 4 different application pages, and I want to fade/otherwise animate a transition between pages based on view model state. Ideally I'd like to have these all defined within a DataTemplate, and then trigger transitions based on an enum from the view model, so that when some enum representing state changes, the transitions trigger to the appropriate page. Is there a known best practice to handle things like this? Immediately coming to mind is the possibiltiy to use Enter and Exit actions on data triggers to play storyboards, but this definately doesn't use the parts and states model, so I'd like to shy away from that. I've also tried using the DataStateSwitchBehavior from the codeplex Expression project, but found it to be incompatable with the latest builds of WPF 4.0/Blend 4 RC's SDK. Does anyone have any ideas on how to handle this elegantly? I'm using the MVVM-Light framework. Also I'd like to point out that as long as this resides on a DataTemplate in a Resource Dictionary, code-behind is not an option without refactoring.

  • Using a visual tool to view changes on git repository

    I'm coming to an existing project in which people used git to track everything from scratch. I want to have a tool to view the differences between several commits. gitk does a good job, but talking about human readability, it's does not facilitate me much. Is there a better solution? I'm looking for a set of tools that allow me to easily compare branches (some how like winmerge - Display two version in parallel and highlight the changes), and running on Mac.

  • Is there any reason to use TFS 2010 in a micro ISV?

    Yesterday I was checking VS2010 editions here and I've noticed that with VS10 with MSDN we get TFS2010 with 1 CAL. I'm a micro ISV (basically sole developer, many clients). I just want to save time - did anyone tried it in similar scenario? Are there any features worth looking into for such a small implementation? P.S. Right now I'm using GIT with gitextension - I'm happy with it, but I would like something more integrated with project management and bug tracking so I can show it to my clients when I'm working on their projects.

  • visual studio localhost server can't locate file

    i have a very simple web project. just one htm file with some javascript that opens a file test.xml. the xml file is in the same folder as the htm file (and it is part of the project) but when i start the page (f5 or ctrl-f5) it can't find the xml. it starts as http://localhost:50586/main.htm when i do a folder list the test.xml file is right there. opening the page directly in firefox works fine and the script can read and extract data from the xml. how can i convince the development server that the xml is indeed there?? or better still: how can i turn the development server off entirely? for my purposes simply opening the page in my browser is all i need and that should happen from within vs of course.

  • Admin required for Visual Studio 2008 Setup Project

    I have a VS 2008 Setup Project that is installing a very simple application in the local user's App Folder. When the Setup Project runs, it is requiring the Admin to login to run it. How can I allow a Standard User to run the installation. There are no Prerequisites. The MSI file is the only file to be run (no Setup.exe). I have signed the msi with a certificate that is installed on the user's machine as Trusted. I just can't get rid of the Admin login requirement.

  • haml - if-else with different identations

    Hi everyone, I'm trying to render a calendar with rails and haml. The dates used come from a variable called @dates. It is a Date range that contains the first and last days to be presented on the calendar. The first day is always sunday and the last one is always monday. I'm planning to render a typical calendar, with one column per weekday (sunday is going to be the first day of the week) using an html table. So, I need to put a %tr followed by a %td on sundays, but the rest of the days I just need a %td. I'm having trouble modelling that on haml. This seems to require different levels of identation, and that's something it doesn't like. Here's my failed attempt: %table %tr %th= t('date.day_names')[0] # Sunday %th= t('date.day_names')[1] %th= t('date.day_names')[2] %th= t('date.day_names')[3] %th= t('date.day_names')[4] %th= t('date.day_names')[5] %th= t('date.day_names')[6] # Monday [email protected] do |date| - if(date.wday == 0) # if date is sunday %tr %td=date.to_s - else %td=date.to_s This doesn't work the way I want.     Hi all, this is something that i don't want to program, but i was looking for a handy way of logging on to my web app. i'm building (and testing and running) my webapp over and over again, and here i've been provided a strong password. needless to say it's not so nice to enter my full user name + strong password 30 times a day. is there a nifty tool which lives in the background and when i open page localhost/mytestpage.aspx, it will say: "hey, let me type in michel and sdfs%^%gfhg in these two textboxes"?

  • .net Studio Local Database

    Hello everyone, i am designing a local database in .net with wpf as gui. I have added a new database, and added a new table. Through the TableAdapter i generated 2 statements ( 1 statement is a select stmt and 1 is a insert) , i insert name and firstname (id is auto generated).
