  Considering example: I have a mesh(es) on the OpenGL screen and would like to select a part of it (say for delete purpose). There is a clear way to do the selction via Ray Tracing, or via Selection provided by OpenGL itself. But, for my users, considering that meshes can get wired surfaces, I need to implement a selection via a Arbitrary closed region, so all triangles that appears present inside that region has to be selected. To be more clear, here is screen shot: I want all triangles inside black polygon to be selected, identified, whatever in some way. How can I achieve that ?

  I am writing a rather simple android game and I am implementing Open GL to draw a 3D cube that spins upon the X, Y and Z axis and I need to know where the user has clicked on the texture of the cube. The texture is a simple square bitmap (100x100) that has a smaller square in the center. I need to know if the user touches the inner square. As well was tell which face of the cube the user touches. Does anyone know how this can be accomplished if not can anyone give some pseudo code on how to tell where the ray correlates to the texture? Or at least point me in the right direction.   I am an iOS developer but I'm new to cocos2d. I'm working on new game, I use Kobold2D, have cocos2d installed too, and I want to make this effect: I know how is done with Flash, but can't make it with Kobold2D. There's 2 images with the same size: one is a low-res image for the background and the second is a hi-res over the first one. When the "reticle" mask moves, it reveals the second image inside the circle and the background is visible outside only. I googled with no success, saw some Ray Wenderlich projects they weren't helpful.

• Mouse pointer position to screen space

  If I have a mouse pointer position in pixels of canvas, I can easily convert it to the -1..1 range for both X & Y by lerping by dividing with canvas dimensions. However, the problem is what I should put in Z & W if I want my screen space position to be on the near plane? The step afterwards would be for me to multiply by the inverse of view-projection to take me to world space, where I easily can construct a ray from the cameras world space position.

• Internet TV streaming applications

  Are there any programs for Ubuntu that can pull TV streams from the Internet ? For example like on a blu-ray player you get BBC iplayer and hulu and youtube as apps, so is there an application that can do this ? I know XMBC can but its to fiddly and resource hungry, I just want the net TV apps and not the full media center. Boxee was great for this, it was a media center but had an interface for the apps not just sticking them in some strange menu like XBMC. Please let me know of anything you know of

  I've spent more time than i should trying to get my ray picking program working. I'm pretty convinced my math is solid with respect to line plane intersection, but I believe the problem lies with the changing of the mouse screen touch into 3D world space. • Intersection of player and mesh

  I have a 3D scene, and a player that can move about in it. In a time-step the player can move from point A to point B. The player should follow the terrain height but slow going up cliffs and then fall back, or stop when jumping and hitting a wall and so on. In my first prototype I determine the Y at the player's centre's X,Z by intersecting a ray with every triangle in the scene. I am not checking their path, but rather just sampling their end-point for each tick. Despite this being Javascript, it works acceptably performance-wise. However, because I am modeling the player as a single point, the player can position themselves so that they are half-in a cliff face and so on. I need to model them as as a solid e.g. some cluster of spheres or a even their fuller mesh. I am also concerned that if they were moving faster they might miss the test altogether. How should I solve this?

• Excel - export sheet to fixed-width text file?

  I know that Excel has functionality to import fixed-width text files where it presents a dialog that lets you choose where the begins and ends of fields are which it puts into columns. Does it also have functionality where, given an existing spreadsheet, you can export to a fixed-width text file? If so, how do I access this? I have tried using Save As and choosing Text File but it seems to only save as Tab-delimited which doesn't help me. This is Excel 2003 if it matters. Thanks, ~ Justin

• .htaccess send requests to a subfolder's index.php

  I have searched stackoverflow for my answer, but nothing that I have seen seems to work. I have a framework that sends all requests to an index.php file. Everything works when I install it in the root of the virtual host: http://domain/ http://domain/home http://domain/home/index The problem happens when I try to install the framework in a subdirectory like: http://domain/blog/ Requests like: http://domain/blog/home http://domain/blog/home/index All of those requests should be sent to the index.php file that lives in /blog My current set up is: http://domain/index.php - This file just prints out 'we are in the root of the virtual host' The framework is not installed there. http://domain/blog - This works fine When I try to got to http://domain/blog/home I get the roots index.php file not the frameworks. I get the message 'we are in the root of the virtual host'. I have the following .htaccess file located at http://domain/blog/.htaccess RewriteEngine on Options Indexes FollowSymLinks -MultiViews RewriteBase /blog/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule !\.(js|ico|gif|jpg|png|css)$ index.php Any help is greatly appreciated. SmtpAddress : [email protected] AddressString : [email protected] ProxyAddressString : smtp:[email protected] Prefix : SMTP IsPrimaryAddress : False PrefixString : smtp SmtpAddress : [email protected] AddressString : [email protected] ProxyAddressString : smtp:[email protected] Prefix : SMTP IsPrimaryAddress : False PrefixString : smtp SmtpAddress : [email protected] AddressString : [email protected] ProxyAddressString : SMTP:[email protected] Prefix : SMTP IsPrimaryAddress : True PrefixString : SMTP Now to add a new email address, I do the following poweshell command :- $mbx.EmailAddresses += "myEmailAddress.com" $mbx | Set-Mailbox So i'm not sure how i can use the foreach to remove each address? I tried:- @mbx.EmailAddresses | foreach { $mbx.EmailAddresses -= $._SmtpAddress } and that failed miserably. That's my first attempt of PS script, ever :P Can anyone help?

  Next Tuesday I will be at the CMAP main meeting presenting Teach Your Kid to Code. Next Tuesday is of course Election Day so you have to make sure you vote early in order to get over to CMAP for the 7:00PM presentation. I will be co-presenting this talk with my 5th grade son. Here is the abstract: Have you ever wanted a way to teach your kid to code? For that matter, have you ever wanted to simply be able to explain to your kid what you do for a living? Putting things in a context that a kid can understand is not as easy as it sounds. If you are someone curious about these concepts, this is a “can’t miss” presentation that will be co-presented by Justin Michelotti (5th grader) and his father. Bring your kid with you to CMAP for this fun and educational session. We will show tools you may not have been aware of like SmallBasic and Kodu – we’ll even throw in a little Visual Studio and Windows 8! Concepts such as variables, conditionals, loops, and functions will be covered while we introduce object oriented concepts without any of the confusing words. Kids are not required for entry!   So I was tasked with looking at converting 10 million tracks from mp3 320k to AAC and also Converting from mp3 320k to mp3 128k After a bit of hunting around the tool you need to use is FFMPEG Download x64 WindowsAlso for the best results get the Nero AACEncoder Download Now the command line STEP 1(From Flac)ffmpeg -i input.flac -f wav - | neroAacEnc -ignorelength -q 0.5 -if - -of output.m4aor (From mp3)ffmpeg -i input.mp3 -f wav - | neroAacEnc -ignorelength -q 0.5 -if - -of output.m4aNow the output.m4a is a intermediate state that we now put a ACC wrapper on via FFMpeg STEP 2ffmpeg -i output.m4a -vn -acodec copy final.aacDone :) There are a couple of options with the FFMPEG library as in we can look at importing the librarys and manipulation the API for the direct result FFMPEG has this support.
