  • Preloading Image Bug in IE6-8

If you click the thumbnail a second time, then it will load. Any help would be appreciated. It still works without the image preloading, so if all else fails I'll just wrap the preloading in an if !($.browser.msie){ } and call it a day.

  • Passing Extras and screen rotation

    This kind of questions appear periodically. Sorry if this has been covered before, but I'm a newbie and couldn't find the appropriate answer. It deals with the correct implementation of communication between classes and activities. I made a gallery app. It has 3 main activities: the Main one, to search for filenames using a pattern; a Thumb one, that shows all the images that matched the pattern as thumbnails in a gridview, and a Photo activity, that opens a full sized image when you click a thumb in Thumbs. I pass to the Photo activity via an Intent the filenames (an array), and the position (an int) of the clicked thumb in the gridview. This third Photo activity has only one view on it: a TouchImageView, that I adapted for previous/next switching and zooming according to where you shortclick on the image (left, right or middle). Moreover, I added a longclick listener to Photo to show EXIF info. The thing is working, but I am not happy with the implementation... Some things are not right. One of the problems I am experiencing is that, if I click on the right of the image to see the next in the Photo activity, it switches fine (position++), but when rotating the device the original one at position appears. What is happening is that Photo is destroyed when rotating the image, and for some reason it restarts again, without obeying super.onCreate(savedInstanceState), loading again the Extras (the position only changed in Photo, not on the parent activities). I tried with startActivityForResult instead of startActivity, but failed... Of course I can do something contrived to save the position data, but there should be something "conceptual" that I am not understanding about how activities work, and I want to do this right. Can someone please explain me what I am doing wrong, which is the best method to implement what I want, and why? Thanks a lot!!!

  • Editing a Gridview row with drop-down lists gets too wide - how can I use popup panels instead?

    I have a series of GridViews in a Tab Panel - databound to a generic List of Business Objects. The columns in the Gridview are all similar to the following: <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Company" SortExpression="Company.ShortName"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblCompany" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Company.ShortName") %>'></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlCompany" runat="server"></asp:DropDownList> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> The GridView generates the "Edit" link at the beginning of the row, all the events fire ok. The problem is that the data is getting long. When in 'display mode', it's fine because the GridView control is smart enough to break some text into multiple lines (in particular Project, Title and Worker names can get pretty long). The problem come in editing mode. Drop-down lists DON'T break entries into multiple lines (for obvious reasons). Going into Edit ode on a row in the Gridview can make the Griview expand horizontally to twice the screen size (blowing through the width limits in the Master page and CSS but that's only a related problem). What I need is something like the ModalPopup - but trying to tie it to an ID in an EditItemTemplate gives me errors when the page renders (because the 'ddlXXXX' doesn't exist at the time). In addition I don't know how to dynamically populate the panel so that I can get a response from it (like the ID of the Company they selected). I'm also trying to avoid javascript and would like this to be a 'pure' aspx/code-behind solution (for simplicity's sake among others). All the examples I find are of Modal Popups with the panels pre-defined. Even if it (the popup panel) were something like a list of checkboxes, it could be databound to the SortedList I have ready to go and an OK/Cancel button combination to accept or ignore things. I'm just not sure of what goes where. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance.     The problem I have a collection of digital photos of a mountain in Japan. However the mountain is often obscured by clouds or fog. What techniques can I use to detect that the mountain is visible in the image? I am currently using Perl with the Imager module, but open to alternatives. All the images are taken from the exact same position - these are some samples. My naïve solution I started by taking several horizontal pixel samples of the mountain cone and comparing the brightness values to other samples from the sky. This worked well for differentiating good image 1 and bad image 2. However in the autumn it snowed and the mountain became brighter than the sky, like image 3, and my simple brightness test started to fail. Image 4 is an example of an edge case. I would classify this as a good image since some of the mountain is clearly visible. UPDATE 1 Thank you for the suggestions - I am happy you all vastly over-estimated my competence. Based on the answers, I have started trying the ImageMagick edge-detect transform, which gives me a much simpler image to analyze. convert sample.jpg -edge 1 edge.jpg I assume I should use some kind of masking to get rid of the trees and most of the clouds. Once I have the masked image, what is the best way to compare the similarity to a 'good' image? I guess the "compare" command suited for this job? How do I get a numeric 'similarity' value from this?

  • Is there a way to get photo tags and new friendship type events by querying the FQL stream table?

    When you look at your stream on the Facebook website, events such as "FriendX was tagged in an album", "FriendY is attending EventZ", and "FriendK and FriendL are now friends". I've tried various "vague" queries on the stream table, and so far I have been unable to get these types of events. Is this possible, or do I need to query the all of the other tables and write a ton of logic to try to figure out which new events to show and how to show them?

  • How do I use a contact's photo in a table view cell?

    I've got an app that has a table view that displays contact information in each row. I'd like to use the contact's stored image (if there is one available) as the image on the left-hand side of the cell. I've found some sketchy sample code in Apple's documentation, but the address book references some kind of weird data type (CFDataRef) that doesn't appear to correspond to the data types referenced in the table view programming guide (mainly UIImage). This seems like a pretty basic task, but I can't seem to wrap my head around it. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    Hello, I am having an incredibly difficult time to decorate a Zend form the way I need to. All ids will be unique of course. All radio buttons in the form belongs to one group. My issue really is that I am unsure how to create and then style the object Zend_Form_Element_MultiCheckbox and Zend_Form_Element_Radio inside my table. Where/how would I apply the appropriate decoraters to the checkboxes and radio buttons to have a form structure like above? When I check the media type using: NSString *mediaType = [info objectForKey: UIImagePickerControllerMediaType]; I always get public.image (even when I pick a video). On a related note, is there any other SDK similar to photo-picker-plus for picking video from different sources? UIImagePickerController could be an option. So I'd like to get the array in this sort of shape: Array ( [12] => stdClass Object ( [type] => photo [created] => 2010-05-14 23:36:41 [user] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 760 [username] => mrsmith ) [photos] => Array ( [0] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4181 ) [1] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4180 ) ) ) ) preserving the first item of the group and it's created time, and supplementing it with any other groupable photos and then unsetting any items that were grouped (so the final array doesn't have key 44 anymore as it was grouped in with 12). The array contains other actions than just photos, hence the original keys of 12 and 44. I just can't figure out a way to do this efficiently. I used to use MySQL and PHP to do this but am trying to just use pure PHP for caching reasons. Can anyone shed any insights? I thought about going through each item and seeing if I can group it with the previous one in the array but the previous one might not necessarily be relevant or even a photo. I've got total brain freeze :(

It's the only one. Did: A) Google someone magically isolate the one image on the web page which summarized the recipe, --or-- B) did the webmaster/page author somehow designate and promote that particular image so that Google would inline it in the search results?

  • How do I center a UIImageView within a full-screen UIScrollView?

    In my application, I would like to present the user with a full-screen photo viewer much like the one used in the Photos app. This is just for a single photo and as such should be quite simple. I just want the user to be able to view this one photo with the ability to zoom and pan. I have most of it working. And, if I do not center my UIImageView, everything behaves perfectly. However, I really want the UIImageView to be centered on the screen when the image is sufficiently zoomed out. I do not want it stuck to the top-left corner of the scroll view. Once I attempt to center this view, my vertical scrollable area appears to be greater than it should be. As such, once I zoom in a little, I am able to scroll about 100 pixels past the top of the image.   • Using html5 localstorage to retrieve data from server, to allow editing of and appending to data sou

    So, I'm creating a standard user-data collection form that will be used by standard web browsers, as well as the iPhone and iPad. The app will allow users to create new records, as well as edit and delete existing records. I've gotten the gist of using html5's 'localstorage' to create a client-side data source and am looking for direction for getting existing data from a server into a client-side data source, and then being able to edit or delete that data, or to append a new record to the existing data. Finally, being able to save the updated data back to the server. It sounds like a lot, I know. But I've been pouring through html5 tuts and can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for.

  • Django Inline formset for editing multiple related records at once - the right way to go?

    Hi, When using inline formsets, how does one do paging? I'm using django 1.1. The situation I'm in, is that the user needs to be able to edit the related objects quickly and easily (which is why I think I should be using an inline formset). However, there can be a more than a hundred objects to edit, which makes a pretty large formset, so paging would make sense. Is there a better way to be doing this? Thanks Bert

  • Advice on displaying and allowing editing of data using ASP.NET MVC?

    I am embarking upon my first ASP.NET MVC project and I would like to get some input on possible ways to display database data and general best practice. In short, the body of my webpage will show data from my database in a table like format, with each table row showing similar data. For example: Name Age Position Date Joined Jon Smith 23 Striker 18th Mar 2005 John Doe 38 Defender 3rd Jan 1988 In terms of functionality, primarily I’d like to give the user the ability to edit the data and, after the edit, commit the edit to the database and refresh the view.The reason I want to refresh the view is because the data is date ordered and I will need to re-sort if the user edits a date field. My main question is what architecture / tools would be best suited to this fulfil my requirements at a high level? From the research I have done so far my initial conclusions were: ADO.NET for data retrieval. This is something I have used before and feel comfortable with. I like the look of LINQ to SQL but don’t want to make the learning curve any steeper for my first outing into MVC land just yet. Partial Views to create a template and then iterate through a datatable that I have pulled back from my database model. jQuery to allow the user to edit data in the table, error check edited data entries etc. Also, my intial view was that caching the data would not be a key requirement here. The only field a user will be able to update is the field and, if they do, I will need to commit that data to the database immediately and then refresh the view (as the data is date sorted). Any thoughts on this? Alternatively, I have seen some jQuery plug-ins that emulate a datagrid and provide associated functionality. My first thoughts are that I do not need all the functionality that comes with these plug-ins (e.g. zebra striping, ability to sort by column using sort glyph in column headers etc .) and I don’t really see any benefit to this over and above the solution I have outlined above. Again, is there reason to reconsider this view? Finally, when a user edits a date , I will need to refresh the view. In order to do this I had been reading about Html.RenderAction and this seemed like it may be a better option than using Partial Views as I can incorporate application logic into the action method. Am I right to consider Html.RenderAction or have I misunderstood its usage? Hope this post is clear and not too long. I did consider separate posts for each topic (e.g. Partial View vs. Html.RenderAction, when to use jQury datagrid plug-in) but it feels like these issues are so intertwined that they need to be dealt with in contect of each other.
