  • Track Promotional Code Sales

    Is there a way I can track actual sales on purchases utilizing Promo or Discount Codes obtained through my site? My site will link to e-commerce sites where users can use those promo codes on their purchases to save money. My site will not actually be selling any items, it is all referrals to other sites. I want this to be done outside of any 3rd party commission platform such as Commission Junction or LinkShare. Thanks!

    Suppose, just as an example, I have a website with domain www.gifts-for-dogs.com.....but after a few years I start selling stuff for Cats and Fish. I may not keep enough of a range of products for these other type of pets yet, so can't justify changing the domain name and logo (to something like gifts-for-pets.com) just yet....but envisage that I eventually may have to in the not too distant future. What would be a good strategy here and what are the steps I would have to consider before making these changes?

My question is if there are some 20,000 free downloads, how many of the downloaders would have actually bought and paid for this software? For Conversion sake consider the FastStone Image viewer which is actually free http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDetail.htm but what could it earn if it was charged 30$ and about 10,000 downloads. Have any-of you have experience in selling such a product
