  • Problem with importing an mdf created with SQL EXPRESS 2008 into SQL SERVER 2005 [an ASP.NET MVC pro

    the question is probably extremely easy to resolve, but I need to resolve it because I need to carry on with my project. I am using SQLEXPRESS 2008 at home, and I've been working on an ASP.NET MVC app that stores my DB in an mdf file in the project's folder. The problem is that the SQL Server in the Uni labs is SQL SERVER 2005, and when I try to open the mdf file with the VS Server Explorer,It says that the version of the mdf file is more than the server can accept. The only oprion that comes to my mind is exporting the DB as an sql file, just like I've done it thousand times with phpmyadmin. the thing is that the SQL MANAGEMENT STUDIO EXPRESS is not the most usable tool in the world, and for some strange reason all the articles I could find in Google were irrelevant. Please, help.

    Hi, Which lightweight SQL Server type could I use on my Dev machine for a C# VS2010 project? (e.g. sql server express, sql server ce, full version etc). That is, I'm running on a VMWare fusion instance on my MacBook, and just want something to develop against for a C# VS2010 project. I'm planning on having a simple database (not many tables) but will use Entity Framework. I haven't used SQL Server before so a quick pointer re what is the best database admin interface/app to use for the version you recommend (e.g. to create database, tables etc).

    I am just starting out with Web Server 2008 and I am having some trouble working with the Roles Manager. I am working on installing the Application Server using the Roles Manager and what I am running into is that it will run me through the install and then alert me that the install file for .NET 3.0 is not found. ("The source for the specified file was not found. error value: 0x800F081F") I think tried to install 3.0 manually and I was told I cannot do so. So I basically wondering if there was somewhere for me to place the install file so Roles can access it. Thanks Levi

    What I'm looking for, is info on what is contained in the server 2008 system state backup. It is incredibly large (10+ G), and annoying to backup remotely. is there a way to take a full system state, and then do like a weekly incremental? I know the wbadmin tool, but its options are limited. I'm also looking for the option to remove the 2nd or 3rd oldest backup.

    So I have some custom VPS which route emails via MX record in DNS. And I need to setup gmail interface via Google Apps - this step and previous are clear. But how can I insert some middle layer, to check emails messages for special words/etc., so something like spam assasin proxy, but custom product. The question is: How could i setup proxy mail from my server = to proxy server(or application) = to gmail servers? Thank you, for any help!

    I'd like to use window server 2012 VPN on a AWS VPC EC2 instance. The VPC has one public subnet and the EC2 instance has one network adapter. I've taken the following steps, but have been unsuccessful; am I missing a step or configuration? Thanks. Configured an elastic IP for the VPC Enabled protocols 47, 50, & 51 Added the RRAS role to the (EC2 instance) server Configured the RRAS for vpn only. Note: I'm able to RDP to the EC2 instance, but not able to ping the external IP.

    We've a lot of Volume Licences left, but the License Server apparantly doesn't use them. Instead it issues Temporary Per Device CAL's. Which is a bit odd off course...     Quick question: I have a situation where I need to let multiple people on different PCs log into one server 2008 machine as administrator simultaneously over remote desktop. I have the CALs for it, it's just not set up correctly. When one user tries to log in, it boots the other out. What I need is to present to them a different session, just each as logged in as admin.     I have a Java application server (GlassFish, indeed, but the problem is the same for any other application server, I guess), running on port 8080. And I have IIS 7.5 listening on port 80 as by default configuration. I want to avoid people typing the port because it's unprofessional. So I want that when somebody types http://myserver the traffic is directed to IIS. And this is how it already works now. But I also want that when somebody types http://myserver/java the traffic is directed to port 8080 and consequently my GlassFish splash screen is displayed. If I have deployed an application on GlassFish under context root app1, typing http://myserver/java/app1 should access the application. How can I do this? I have tried with adding some rules with the URL Rewrite utility from IIS7.5 UI, but this shows the port after the rule has rewritten the url, and I want to avoid it.

    I'm running into a problem where a Server 2003 SP2 box has started crashing roughly once an hour, BSODing out with the message that fltmgr.sys is probably the cause. I ran dumpchk.exe on the memory.dmp file, indicating the same thing. Any thoughts on typical root causes?   • Server 2008 Likes to restart itself

    I have a weird issue here. I notice about once a week the web server restarts itself. This would be only a minor issue if we were not planning on implementing an IP failover. I have checked the event logs. I don't see anything that indicates a reason for the restart. I need some help diagnosing the reason the server restarts. It happened last night at 5:00AM Last even in the log was 1 hour before the unexpected shutdown. Here is the Log for the shutdown event. Any help is much appreciated. I know there isn't much to go on yet.
