  hi there I just installed new XP windows OS on a old laptop. I did also all the updates I was asked for. I installed also, the latest driver updates from the official laptop producer site. Now, when I try to use that laptop to talk on Yahoo! Messenger, the sound quality is very bad, and I barely hear what the other person is saying. Before I was reinstalling the XP the laptop were working fine. do you have any tips for me? What software utilities to try in order to improve it's performance? what software utilities to install in order to test it's performances?

• How should I implement an email circuit test?

  I want a high-level test that ensures that both incoming and outgoing email services are operating normally. I've achieved this by writing a python script which does this: Send a message with a unique hash through my mail server to [email protected] The gmail account is configured to auto-reply back to the same address and then delete the message. My script polls IMAP until it finds an email with the correct hash sitting in its inbox, or times out. It reports the elapsed time to my monitoring software (Zabbix) My question: Is gmail the best third-party to use? Should I add a couple others as well such as hotmail and yahoo? Is there anyone more official that will auto-reply to these sorts of "mail pings"? Any other recommendations for this type of test?

• best way to quickly share multiple photos without permanently hosting them

  I find that I'm often asked to share lots of photos with someone, enough that uploading each one individually to them gets tedious when I would like to drag and drop the whole bunch. I could put them on photobucket, but some of them are semi-private; private enough that I don't want them to be easily found on image hosting sites. Are there any convenient ways of sharing these photos quickly but still being able to remove them from the inter-webs afterwards (without too much hassle)? I have found Yahoo Messenger complete version has great photo sharing options; but not everyone has it and I can't expect people to download it just to see some photos.

• Why are my Google and Bing search result pages locking up?

  I've got some really weird behavior going on. I can't do any web searching using Google or Bing because when the search result page shows up, every single link on the page is completely unresponsive. That is, every link to a search result. The links to page functions other than search results work fine. This happens in both IE9 and FF13. It doesn't happen to Yahoo! results, though. Any ideas?

I would like it to: Be fast Ensure data integrity Not require opening ports in either end's firewall Be free Not broadcast the file's existence to everyone on the Internet I've looked a several technologies and nothing seems to fit: Gnutella, BitTorrent, et al. satisfies 1, 2 and 4 JetBytes... 1, 3, 4 and 5 Yahoo Messenger, AIM, etc. 3, 4 and 5 FTP, SFTP... 1?, 4 and 5 rsync... 1, 2, 4 and 5 For a file this size speed and data integrity are the most important. No one wants a 20 GB file to fail a MD5 check after spending two days downloading it. Is there anything that meets all these requirements?

• Cant access websites

  Recently i have some problems accessing websites. When i try to access it says This webpage is not available. I tried accessing the site through FireFox, Internet Explorer and Chrome. I also tried with using a web proxy but still the same problem. This problem is only in my Desktop PC, all the websites works fine in my laptop Currently i cant access, yahoo.com download.com bing.com proxy.org daniweb.com aol.com and many forums I check with the host file but nothing is blocked in that. • Gmail not accepting mail

  I'm setting up a new mail server with postfix dovecot and things are working fine except this strange thing. I'm unable to send email to gmail addresses. The log shows status sent. However, I checked there is no email in gmail mailbox. Jul 8 13:10:08 example postfix/smtp[5294]: B53B637C233: to=<[email protected]>, relay=gmail-smtp-in-v4v6.l.google.com[173.194.79.26]:25, delay=2.2, delays=1.5/0.08/0.49/0.14, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 2.0.0 OK 1341727808 nc7si50672387pbc.75) However, my other account can send to gmail. After several testing, then I found that if I first send email from gmail, then subsequently I can send from my server and email received by gmail. I don't have this issue with Yahoo. What could be the problem?

  (I just learnt that Yahoo are shutting down Geocities, this is a bummer as I used my account there to host two icons, in the days when Blogger didn't upload gifs. Now those two icons are referenced in every one of my 600+ posts). Blogger doesn't have a "Find & Replace in all posts" function. I'm wondering about using the API to hack something together, and wondered if anyone has already tried playing with the API, if there are any tips or things to avoid. Also if there isn't a sneaky shortcut (like switching to ftp, doing the replace locally then switching back?). Not 100% programming related, please be lenient, or at least answer my question before closing it!

• Preventing my postfix to send my local users spam

  I have a postfix/dovecot mail server with 100 different users. When they send an email they need to be authenticated. I successfully use saslauth to achieve this. Few days ago I had a problem. One specific user, probably with a virus or a spam-bot installed in its computer, started to send out through my server thousands of emails in few hours. As result, my ip has been blocked by many isp provider (@aol, @yahoo, and others) and has been listed in many blacklist, making all my 100 users unable to send any email to anyone. What is the best practice to avoid this problem? It would be great if my server could recognize a spamming user and automatically block it. Also, have a limit of, say, 30 emails per hour could be a partial solution. Any idea how to face this problem? Thank you

(because the address or sender IP is blacklisted, not because of content) There is a server which is able to forward incoming messages to another address (email forwarding), for example, to a Gmail mailbox. And it is not blacklisted. The question is: If we send a message, through the dirty mailbox to the server, and server forward it to a Gmail mailbox, will it marked as spam by spam filters?

• Fonts and encoding in windows live mail.

  Sometimes I have non-english emails (arabic for example). When I try to open them with windows live mail, it doesn't show them correctly.. for example such this: &1588;&1603;&1585;&1575; &1610;&1575;&1605;&1575;&1606; (I changed it a bit to show here as I want) I had a look at options, there was encoding on arabic(windows) but I didn't find anything else. When I open this mail on yahoo however, there is no problem. What can I do?

• Wireless slow, but very odd

  I have a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop, internet through the wireless timeouts. Even though it connects fine to the AP/router. The computer had a virus (searchnu?) and I backed up the usual and restored the laptop to factory image. Problem is after the restore the internet through the wireless the same still... and connected via wired and everything worked fine. I was able to update the whole system. Internet worked perfect, speed great. But the wireless still was pitiful. Ping tests with wireless are interesting: Google= 18ms Gmail= 18ms Yahoo= 1023ms 8.8.8.8=30ms Microsoft= Request Timed Out Bing= Request Timed Out msn= Request Timed Out even though I get 18ms with google, the pages take a long time to load. Is this a root kit? is it the wireless card in the laptop?

• Establish connection with an IP camera behind a modem-router assigned with a private IP by Internet Service Provider?

  Most solutions out there require the modem-router to have been assigned a public IP by the ISP. After which, one can access the IP camera via a portforward setting on the router. However, my ISP only provides private IPs internal to their system (they probably have a limited pool of public IPs). So I am unable to view my IP cameras in the way described. I'm wondering if there's a way to work around this problem without having to need a public IP. Since, after all, two users on Yahoo Messenger or Facebook Chat are able to find one another and exchange data despite both sides being within the internal networks of their respective ISPs. Given that I only plan to view my IP cameras via iOS or Android running on a smartphone or tablet, any ready-to-use solutions out there?

  Some of the mails for a particular domain are not getting delivered from our mail server. We are using sendmail for mail server. Fallowing can be seen in log Oct 21 13:24:59 mailser sendmail[5407]: r9L7st1a005405: to=<[email protected]>, delay=00:00:03, xdelay=00:00:03, mailer=esmtp, pri=120539, relay=mailgw.test.in. [164.X.X.19], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (ok: Message 289953693 accepted) FOr other domains like yahoo , gmail etc it is working fine . But if I send the mail through commandline using mailx command from the same server , the message is going through...   I am working on email server, since i tried several times to create email server on ubuntu12.04LTS with postfix + dovecote + postfixadmin + courier + clamav + spamassassin. But everytime i install these packages i face new problems, like mails send to localhost users and found in users maildir. But I can't determine how to configure/setup for send an email to external smtp like gmail, yahoo. The most worst thing i can't determine how to use sasl, because i am not using SSL so it is not worthy for my domain.   I am confused about domain names (I think) I call these things, i.e. names you can buy, 'domain names' bbc.co.uk google.com I call these things, i.e. extensions of names 'host names' www.bbc.co.uk mail.yahoo.com arts.mit.edu hello.there.example.com Is this naming scheme correct? Are there official definitions of these? In particular, what are each of the texts between the dots called (i.e. the name for "www", "bbc", "edu", "example")?

• Photoshop changes colors when moved to a different monitor

  This Yahoo! answers question pretty much sums up my predicament. Unfortunately I haven't really found an actual answer. Here's a screen shot of what happens when I place Photoshop between my monitors. Imagine that the left side of my laptop is the right square and the yellow is the right side of my monitor. When I move the program to one side fully or the other, it takes on the corresponding color. Obviously the color on the right is correct and Photoshop is changing the color of the image when it moves to my external monitor. Also notice how none of the tools or anything are different colors, just the actual image itself. How do I fix this? EDIT You may also notice that the color palette in the left corner is showing that yellow tinge. I didn't actually pick that yellow color, it's supposed to be showing the grey on the left that I used to fill in the square.

  My setup is Modem - Linksys router - Laptop with 2 devices (wlan0/eth0) - desktop machine Router is 192.168.1.1 gateway to the internet Laptop wlan0 is 192.168.1.4 with a gw of 192.168.1.1 Laptop eth0 is 192.168.2.254 which acts as a second gateway desktop is 192.168.2.100 On laptop i've setup ip_forward to 1, and have inserted 2 iptables rules -A FORWARD -i eth0 -o wlan0 -j ACCEPT -A FORWARD -i wlan0 -o eth0 -j ACCEPT The laptop can ping outside the network (i,e, yahoo.com) it can not ping 192.168.2.100. The desktop can ping 192.168.2.254 but nothing outside the network or 192.168.1.0 subnet. On laptop ip route show lists: 192.168.2.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.2.254 192.168.1.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.4 127.0.0.0/8 dev lo scope link default via 192.168.1.1 dev wlan0 What am I missing to make my desktop go through the laptop in order to access the router which provides access to the internet? • Reinstall default apps on Galaxy S3 before updating to Jelly Bean [migrated]

  I want to update my Galaxy S3 to Jelly Bean but after downloading the firmware using Kies, it starts updating, but then it stops with a "dead" Android with a red triangle icon. I think it's because I have removed some default apps like ChatOn and Yahoo widgets. Is there any way to get them back or to install the official Jelly Bean update without a factory reset? I don't want to reinstall my apps again and lose my settings each time I need to update the OS (I also don't want bloatware apps that are pre-installed). Any ideas?

  some months ago i bought a dedicated server from usa (http://www.dacentec.com/) datacenter. my ips are look like this : 162.248.243.blo blo blo when i check my ip in this site : http://whatismyipaddress.com/ it shows me : ISP: Dacentec Services: None Detected Country: United States why Services: None Detected and what did they do with this ip block? also when i open some sites like google, yahoo, etc they show me india or china as country. what is the problem about these ips and why i don't have a stable location for them?
