    Hi, I'm writing a bash script that will show me what TV programs to watch today, it will get this information from a text file. The text is in the following format: Monday: Family Guy (2nd May) Tuesday: House The Big Bang Theory (3rd May) Wednesday: The Bill NCIS NCIS LA (27th April) Thursday: South Park Friday: FlashForward Saturday: Sunday: HIGNFY Underbelly I'm planning to use 'date +%A' to work out the day of the week and use the output in a grep regex to return the appropriate lines from my text file. If someone can help me with the regex I should be using I would be eternally great full.

One per line, separated by commas, have random text in between them, etc. the URLs are all from 2 different sites, and have a similar structure For this example, lets say it looks like this Random Text - http://www.domain2.com/variable-value Random Text 2 - http://www.domain1.com/variable-value, http://www.domain1.com/variable-value, http://www.domain1.com/variable-value http://www.domain1.com/variable-value http://www.domain2.com/variable-value http://www.domain1.com/variable-value http://www.domain2.com/variable-value http://www.domain1.com/variable-value I need to extract 2 pieces of information. Check to see if its domain1 or domain2 and the value that follows "variable-" So it should create a multi-dimensional array, which would have 2 items: domain + value.     I am a little confused about the auto-increment id field in rails. I have a rails project with a simple schema. When i check the development.sqlite3 I can see that all of my tables have an id field with auto increment. CREATE TABLE "messages" ("id" INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT NOT NULL, "text" text, "created_at" datetime, "updated_at" datetime); but when i call Message.new on the console, the resulting object has an id of nil >> a = Message.new => #<Message id: nil, text: nil, created_at: nil, updated_at: nil> shouldn't the id come back populated?

    I'm a newbie product manager, looking for tips on how to write and organize text copy for my company's website. I need to be able to prepare the content for our public site and turn it over to the web designer who publishes it to our live site. I want our UI team to be able to quickly glance at the copy I write and immediately know where on the page I intend for it to go. Currently, I'm using microsoft word to write and color code different text to signify where I want specific text to go. It is difficult for the UI guy to immediately know if something goes into the nav bar or into a header or a description below a header. In addition to that, it would be helpful for me to be able to write the copy in such a way that the web designer could copy and paste it into the XHTML without having to go back and manually replace special punctuation characters with the XHTML entities. What software is out there that will allow a comprehensive solution to these web copywriting issues?

    Can I use ActionView::Helpers::SanitizeHelper#sanitize on user-entered text that I plan on showing to other users? E.g., will it properly handle all cases described on this site? Also, the documentation mentions: Please note that sanitizing user-provided text does not guarantee that the resulting markup is valid (conforming to a document type) or even well-formed. The output may still contain e.g. unescaped ’<’, ’’, ’&’ characters and confuse browsers. What's the best way to handle this? Pass the sanitized text through Hpricot before displaying?

Optimally I would like period to only enter text mode when its at the start of the object. Or perhaps there is a wildcard I can use (* doesn't seem to work and . obviously doesn't :). Or perhaps there is an escape sequence for period?

  • Having trouble applying style to SVG using JavaScript upon object creation

    Hi, I have a function which creates an SVG text object using JavaScript. As soon as the object is created, I want it to have the style attribute which in CSS would be text-anchor: left. Currently, it doesn't work. I have tried many variations, and I also read that when using styles in JavaScript you must remove any '-' dashes and format the attribute name in camel casing (is this true?).   • can we do getwriter and forward in a single servlet

    Lets say my form called a servlet. I would do some processing in it. In the servlet i want to print something on the page. for that i used PrintWriter out=response.getWriter(); out.println("some text here"); then further in the servlet i did some more form processing which works fine and after that i want the servlet to be forwarded to a jsp page. For this i used RequestDispatcher rd = request.getRequestDispatcher("/somepage.jsp"); rd.forward(request, response); the problem comes here. the text some text here gets printed, but the servlet doesn't forward request to the jsp page, as if the code doesn't run.

  • C# ToolTip will not re-appear after first use.

    I have a Forms C# application where I would like to use a toolTip on one of the text boxes. I Initialize the tool-tip in the constructor of the Form class, and it works the first time. So when I hover over the text box with my mouse it works, but once the toolTip times out and it goes away, it does not re-appear when I move my mouse away and back onto the control. I would expect it to come back and I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. Here is how I initialize the tooltip: myTip = new ToolTip(); myTip.ToolTipIcon = ToolTipIcon.Info; myTip.IsBalloon = true; myTip.ShowAlways = true; myTip.SetToolTip(txtMyTextBox,"My Tooltip Text");

  • matlab: putting a circled number onto a graph

    I want to put a circled number on a graph as a marker near (but not on) a point. Sounds easy, but I also want to be invariant of zoom/aspect ratio changes. Because of this invariant, I can't draw a circle as a line object (without redrawing it upon rescale); if I use a circle marker, I'd have to adjust its offset upon rescale. The simplest approach I can think of is to use the Unicode or Wingdings characters ① ② ③ etc. in a string for the text() function. But unicode doesn't seem to work right, and the following sample only works with ① and not for the other numbers (which yield rectangle boxes): works: clf; text(0.5,0.5,char(129),'FontName','WingDings') doesn't work (should be a circled 2): clf; text(0.5,0.5,char(130),'FontName','WingDings') What gives, and can anyone suggest a workaround?

    For some reason DOMParser is adding some additional #text elements for each newline \n for this url http://rt.com/Root.rss ...as well as many other RSS I've tried. I checked cnn/bbc feeds, they don't have newlines and dom parser handling them nicely. So I have to add the following before parsing it var xmlText = htmlText.replace(/\n[ ]*/g, ""); var xmlDoc = parser.parseFromString(xmlText, "text/xml"); Server is returning text/xml. var channel = xmlDoc.documentElement.childNodes[0]; this returning \n without my code above and channel with correction.

  • A non-ugly way to persist dialog contents across orientation changes?

    So I have a managed AlertDialog with a number of EditTexts & separate portrait + landscape layouts. The user opens the dialog in portrait mode, enters some text and then all of a sudden decides to pop out the keyboard. Now, I need to remove the dialog and recreate it for the changed layout persisting the text entered. What I can think of is getting references to the EdiTexts in onPrepareDialog(..), then getting the actual text in onConfigurationChanged(..), then removing the dialog, then showing it again, then populating it. Rather ugly, huh? Are there any better options?

    I'm using a combo box to select an item from a list of 25 items. The selected item is input in a text box in a comma delimited string. It is updating a list view and showing each item separately by breaking the comma delimited string. The text box is not visible to users but doing the work in back end. Now I want to remove any item from list view and want it so that the text box containing the comma delimited string should also change and remove that item from the string. Is it possible?

  • Is it possible to change or override the default keyboard shortcuts in Finder?

    I would like to override the keyboard-shortcut for a particular built-in action in finder (OS X 10.6.7). An example would be to override the Cmd+N for a New Finder Window to some other action, say Open a blank Text document. I can create the service for opening a blank Text document in automator - and I can map a new keyboard shortcut for this - but the new keyboard shortcut will not override a default keyboard shortcut. I do not want to install any 3rd party applications (like QuickSilver).

    I am currently building my own CMS for various reasons that could take a long to explain... However i am looking for a dynamic solution to create templates for pages within the CMS and all areas must be editable via the administration area, maybe large text areas broken into multiple areas, text and image area on a page etc. Following on from the above i would like to create the following: Create a new page (selecting a pre-defined template like below) http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/9872/nestedpages.png and then upon editing the page it would have created as many text editors required for each editable region or a file upload control for an image area for example. i am thinking of using nested masterpages for the design elements, just unsure the best-practice way to achieve the above (db structure etc) I somehow hope this provides enough information but are happy to answer any questions you may have.   • Why are some strings displayed as garbage when I scroll my read-only multiline Win32 edit control ve

    In my native C+ Win32 GUI application I have a property sheet with two property pages. One of the property pages contains an edit box: EDITTEXT IDC_EDIT_ID,x,y,width,height,ES_MULTILINE | ES_READONLY | NOT WS_BORDER | WS_VSCROLL | WS_HSCROLL | NOT WS_TABSTOP,WS_EX_STATICEDGE I set a multiline text to this edit box. The text has more lines than the edit can fit, so some of the text is clipped and a vertical scroll bar appears. When I scroll up with the mouse the lines that come "from under clip area" are drawn as garbage - it looks like first one line is drawn, then some other line is drawn on the same place without first painting the background. The lines that just move up - ones that were visible before scrolling and remain visible after scrolling are displayed allright. What's the reason and workaround for this behavior?

    How do I achieve this:- When user types character like 'abcd' and then '>'(an invalid character for my application), I want to set the text back to 'abcd'. Better if we can cancel the input itself as we do in winforms application. This should happen when user is typing and not on a click of button. I want this to be applied on all text boxes in my web page. This will be easy if the solution is jQuery based. May be something which will start like this. $("input[type='text']")
