• Jquery number of clicks record

  Hi, I am working on this page where I'm using a Jquery Mp3 Player (Jplayer) with its playlist. What I want to do is very simple in theory: I want to record the number of clicks for every playlist element. When someone enters the page, his number of clicks are at 0 for every element. The visitor can click a few times on element #1, then go to element #2 (which will be at 0), then come back to element #1 and the number of clicks must be saved. We don't need to save it for next visits. Jplayer has this function that loads each time a new playlist element is being loaded: function playListChange( index ) In which every element has its own ID dynamically updated: myPlayList[index].song_id Here's my code: function playListChange( index ) { var id = myPlayList[index].song_id; if(!o) { var o = {}; } if(!o[id]) { o[id] = 0; } alert(o[id]); … $("#mydiv").click { o[id] = o[id]+1; } … But o[id] is reset every time and the alert always show 0. • Javascript onclick() event bubbling - working or not?

  I have a table in which the table row tag is decorated with an onclick() handler. If the row is clicked anywhere, it will load another page. In one of the elements on the row, is an anchor tag which also leads to another page. The desired behavior is that if they click on the link, "delete.html" is loaded. If they click anywhere else in the row, "edit.html" is loaded. The problem is that sometimes (according to users) both the link and the onclick() are fired at once, leading to a problem in the back end code. They swear they are not double-clicking. I don't know enough about Javascript event bubbling, handling and whatever to even know where to start with this bizarre problem, so I'm asking for help. Here's a fragment of the rendered page, showing the row with the embedded link and associated script tag. • Select statement with multiple 'where' fields using same value without duplicating text

  I will start by saying that I don't think what I want can be done, but that said, I am hoping I am wrong and someone knows more than me. So here is your chance... Prove you are smarter than me :) I want to do a search against a SQLite table looking for any records that "are similar" without having to write out the query in long hand. To clarify this is how I know I can write the query: select * from Articles where title like '%Bla%' or category like '%Bla%' or post like '%Bla%' This works and is not a huge deal if you are only checking against a couple of columns, but if you need to check against a bunch then your query can get really long and nasty looking really fast, not to mention the chance for typos. (ie: 'Bla%' instead of '%Bla%') What I am wondering is if there is a short hand way to do this? *This next code does not work the way I want, but just shows kind of what I am looking for select * from Articles where title or category or post like '%Bla%' Anyone know if there is a way to specify that multiple 'where' columns should use the same search value without listing that same search value for every column?   I am looking for a way to use a WCF WebServiceHost without having to rely on the HttpListener class and it's associated permission problems (see this question for details). I'm working on a application which communicates locally with another (third-party) application via their REST API. At the moment we are using WCF as an embedded HTTP server. If we run our application on a machine without administrative privileges the host.Open() will throw an HttpListenerException with ErrorCode == 5 (ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED). We can get around the problem by running httpcfg.exe from the command line but this is a one-click desktop application and that's not really as long term solution for us. We could ditch WCF and write our own HTTP server but I'd like to avoid that if possible. What's the easiest way to replace HttpListener with a standard TCP socket while still using all of the remaining HTTP scaffolding that WCF provides?

  Brief summary: I need a script/plugin for Firefox that selects the "load next 25 comments" link at the bottom of a web page, until that link is no longer on the page. As you click that link - you get more comments - eventually all of them on the same page. See this web page for an example (there are 1,852 comments): http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/05/16/gulf.oil.spill/index.html#comment-50598247 I have a regular problem with CNN.com. I post comments there. People sometimes reply to them. I check my profile, and see the number of replies, but I can't read them there. I have to follow the link to the original article. The fist set of comments are at the bottom, with a 'load next 25' link at the bottom. There are often hundreds of comments, and sometimes a few thousand. There is no practical way for me to read the replies to my comments. If there's under around 300 hundred, I'll just click that link enough times to see what the replies to my comments are. I need a script/plugin to select that 'load next 25' link until that link is no longer present on the page. Then I could just search for my userid and read the responses.

  We have an existing java desktop application which starts, when user click on our application icon (placed on desktop) OR double click on executable(.exe). It opens the frame which allows user to select the file from native file system and uploads it to the server. Now we would like to facilitate user, that he can pick a file from windows explorer and drag it to the "shortcut / Application icon" & drop it on the "shortcut / Application icon" on the desktop. This would start the uploading of that file on the server. we need to capture the action of "drop" and launch on shortcut.. which may be completely not related to java, it can be very generic to any application. We are using JSmooth to build an executable from jar and NSIS for installer purpose. I would like to know.. How we can launch the application if user drops local file onto the system icon ? How we get the absolute path of file name which has been dropped onto the executable ?

• How do I append Word templates to a new document in VB.NET?

  I'm poking around to see if this app can be done. Basically the end user needs to create a bunch of export documents that are populated from a database. There will be numerous document templates (.dot) and the end result will be the user choosing templates x y and z to include for documentation, click a button and have the app create a new Word document, append the templates, and then populate the templates with the appropriate data. The reason it needs to be done in Word as opposed to something like Crystal Reports is that the user may customize some fields before printing the documents as it can vary from export to export. Is this possible to do through VB.NET (VS 2010)? I assume it is but I'm having difficulty tracking down a solution. Or alternatively is there a better solution? • Drawing an image in Java, slow as hell on a netbook.

  In follow-up to my previous questions (especially this one : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2684123/java-volatileimage-slower-than-bufferedimage), i have noticed that simply drawing an Image (it doesn't matter if it's buffered or volatile, since the computer has no accelerated memory*, and tests shows it's doesn't change anything), tends to be very long. (*) System.out.println(GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment() .getDefaultScreenDevice().getAvailableAcceleratedMemory()); --> 0 How long ? For a 500x400 image, about 0.04 seconds. This is only drawing the image on the backbuffer (obtained via buffer strategy). Now considering that world of warcraft runs on that netbook (tough it is quite laggy) and that online java games seems to have no problem whatsoever, this is quite thought provoking. I'm quite certain I didn't miss something obvious, I've searched extensively the web, but nothing will do. So do any of you java whiz have an idea of what obscure problem might be causing this (or maybe it is normal, tough I doubt it) ? PS : As I'm writing this I realized this might be cause by my Linux installation (archlinux) tough I have the correct Intel driver. But my computer normally has "Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950", which would mean it should have accelerated video memory somehow. Any ideas about this side of things ?

• Looping through Markers with Google Maps API v3 Problem

  I'm not sure why this isn't working. I don't have any errors, but what happens is, no matter what marker I click on, it clicks the 3rd one (which is the last one out of 4 markers. Array starts at 0, obviously) and shows the number "3", which is correct for THAT one, but I'm not clicking that one. The current_window and the current_marker inside the function is overide at each loop turn. How can I get it right ? Thanks

• jQuery ajax form submit - how to ensure dynamically loaded form's action is used

  Hi, i'm having a problem with dynamically loaded forms - instead of using the action attribute of the newly loaded form, my jquery code is still using the action attribute of the first form loaded. • Pop-up and font colour based problems in a form which is designed in Share Point.

  I am designing a system in Share Point via Share Point Designer. We have a form in my Share Point site. Users have to fill some fields in the form and send it to the approval committee. We cannot upload anything to the servers. The design is site based. Our problems are: 1- I want to add small (?) icons for the descriptions of that field. When the user click on the (?) icon for "brief description" field a pop-up or another window will be opened and perhaps it will say: Enter a description of the requested thing. Be as specific as possible. 2- I want to change the font colors of the fields in the form. The share point brings them black as default. Such as I want to see the "Brief description:" and "Status:" as purple instead of black. Brief description: ..... Status: ..... 3- I want to add an agreement pop-up to the new form which will be open just after clicking "send" button in the form. The pop up will say: "Are you sure that you read the procedure" . The user has to click "Yes" to continue sending the form. Otherwise It will return to previous screen again. I would be glad if you kindly help me.

• How to put JFrame into existing JPanel in Java Swing?

  I have an open-source java swing application like this: http://i47.tinypic.com/dff4f7.jpg You can see in the screenshot, there is a JPanel divided into two area, left and right area. The left area has many text links. When I click the SLA Criteria link, it will pop-up the SLA Criteria window. The pop-up window is JFrame object. Now, I'm trying to put the pop-up window into right area of the JPanel, so that means no pop-up window anymore, i.e. when I click the SLA Criteria link, its contents will be displayed at the right area of the JPanel. The existing content of the right area of JPanel will not be used anymore. The example illustration (note: it's made and edited using image editor, this is not the real screenshot of working application) is like this: http://i48.tinypic.com/5vrxaa.jpg So, I would like to know is there a way to put JFrame into JPanel? I'm thinking of using JInternalFrame, is it possible? Or is there another way? • How safe and reliable are C++ String Literals?

  So, I'm wanting to get a better grasp on how string literals in C++ work. I'm mostly concerned with situations where you're assigning the address of a string literal to a pointer, and passing it around. For example: char* advice = "Don't stick your hands in the toaster."; Now lets say I just pass this string around by copying pointers for the duration of the program. Sure, it's probably not a good idea, but I'm curious what would actually be going on behind the scenes. For another example, let's say we make a function that returns a string literal: char* foo() { // function does does stuff return "Yikes!"; // somebody's feeble attempt at an error message } Now lets say this function is called very often, and the string literal is only used about half the time it's called: // situation #1: it's just randomly called without heed to the return value foo(); // situation #2: the returned string is kept and used for who knows how long char* retVal = foo(); In the first situation, what's actually happening? Is the string just created but not used, and never deallocated? In the second situation, is the string going to be maintained as long as the user finds need for it? What happens when it isn't needed anymore... will that memory be freed up then (assuming nothing points to that space anymore)? Don't get me wrong, I'm not planning on using string literals like this. I'm planning on using a container to keep my strings in check (probably std::string). I'm mostly just wanting to know if these situations could cause problems either for memory management or corrupted data.

• Why NOT use POST method here?

  I have a classifieds website. In the main page (index) I have several form fields which the user may or may not fill in, in order to specify a detailed search of classifieds. Ex: Category: Cars Price from: 3000 Price to: 10000 Color: Red Area: California The forms' action is set to a php page: <form action='query_sql.php' method='post'> In query_sql.php I fetch the variables like this: category=$_POST['category']; etc etc... Then query MySql: $query="SELECT........WHERE category='$category' etc etc.... $results = mysql_query($query); Then I simply display the results of the query to the user by creating a table which is filled in dynamically depending on the results set. However, according to an answer by Col. Shrapnel in my previous Q I shouldn't use POST here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3004754/how-to-hide-url-from-users-when-submitting-this-form The reason I use post is simply to hide the "one-page-word-document" long URL in the browsers adress bar. I am very confused, is it okay to use POST or not? It is working fine both when I use GET or POST now... And it is already on a production server... Btw, in the linked question, I wasn't referring to make URL invisible (or hide it) I just wanted it too look better (which I have accomplished with mod_rewrite). • JQuery Tabbed Nav Menu and PHP Forms Question?

  I'm using a JQuery Tabbed Menu which holds different types of forms and when I select a different form located under a different tab and submit the form the tab will jump to the default tab instead of the current tab the form is located in. I was wondering how would I go about fixing this so that when the form is submitted the current tab is still selected, is it the JQuery or PHP problem? • Why doesn't java.lang.Number implement Comparable?

  Does anyone know why java.lang.Number does not implement Comparable? This means that you cannot sort Numbers with Collections.sort which seems to me a little strange. Post discussion update: Thanks for all the helpful responses. I ended up doing some more research about this topic. The simplest explanation for why java.lang.Number does not implement Comparable is rooted in mutability concerns. For a bit of review, java.lang.Number is the abstract super-type of AtomicInteger, AtomicLong, BigDecimal, BigInteger, Byte, Double, Float, Integer, Long and Short. On that list, AtomicInteger and AtomicLong to do not implement Comparable. Digging around, I discovered that it is not a good practice to implement Comparable on mutable types because the objects can change during or after comparison rendering the result of the comparison useless. Both AtomicLong and AtomicInteger are mutable. The API designers had the forethought to not have Number implement Comparable because it would have constrained implementation of future subtypes. Indeed, AtomicLong and AtomicInteger were added in Java 1.5 long after java.lang.Number was initially implemented. Apart from mutability, there are probably other considerations here too. A compareTo implementation in Number would have to promote all numeric values to BigDecimal because it is capable of accommodating all the Number sub-types. The implication of that promotion in terms of mathematics and performance is a bit unclear to me, but my intuition finds that solution kludgy.

• Why would an OS X bundle take about 30 seconds to open?

  Hi, We wrote a simple OS X executable in objective c. It opens and runs very quickly when called. We then put that executable into a .app bundle. When calling "open" from the command line on that bundle, or double clicking the app from the finder the "open" call can take upwards of 30 seconds to return. This is especially confusing because "open" clearly starts the executable right away (I can see it running in the process list right away, and have other indications that it's doing work), but when done from the command line, the "open" command takes a long time to return, and when done from the Finder the icon will bounce for a very long time before acting normal. I know the executable itself still opens very quickly because calling "open" on the executable inside my bundle returns very quickly, however calling it on the .app runs the code right away but takes 30 seconds or so to return. Has anyone run into this before? Do you have any suggestions for what could cause something like this? I've not been able to see anything funny in the bundle structure or the plist, but maybe I'm missing something. Thanks,

  I'm trying to allow users to 'favorite' links (that is, create a new Favorite record with their user_id and the link_id) This is what I have so far.. When I click favorite (as a user), the new record is assigned to the user_id but the link_id field is nil. How can I pass the link_id into my FavoritesController? I can't remove many-to-one mapping because that also disables explicit loading or a query like from x in session.Query<Comment>() where x.Owner.Title == "hello" select x; I specified lazy="true" and set use_proxy_validator property to false. But that also eager loads Owner. Is there any way to load only Post entity?

  Hi, I have this bit of code which reads an 8 bytes array and converts it to a int64.   Just a quick question, that I cannot fathom out, hope you guys and girls can help. I have a div (with ID) that when clicked opens a new div - great works well, what I really want is to "populate" the new div with predefined text based on the clicked div's ID. example: <div class="infobox" id="help_msg1">Click me</div> I may have say 3 (actually more but...) of these div's This opens: <div id="helpbox">text in here</div> In/on my .js page I have doc ready etc then: var help_msg1 ='text that is a help message'; var help_msg2 ='text that is another help message'; var help_msg3 ='text that is yet another help message'; Then $('.infobox').live('click',function() { $('#helpbox').remove(); $('label').css({'font-weight': '400'}); $(this).next('label').css({'font-weight': '900'}); var offset = $(this).next().next().offset(); var offsetby = $(this).next().next().width(); var leftitby = offset.left+offsetby+10; $('body').append('text in here'); $('#helpbox').css( { 'left': leftitby, 'top': offset.top } ); }); Note I remove each #helpbox before appending the new one and the .next().next() identifies the appropriate text input that lot all works. • How do I toggle CSS with jQuery?

  I have the following code: $('#bc' + $.trim($this) + ' span.dashed-circle').css({ 'border' : '5px solid #000'}); That is triggered by a click.function(). I would like that to be a toggle - so when I click the element, it changes the border to what I have above...but when it is clicked again it disappears or rather sets the border to ' '. Thoughts? Edit: I should have been explicit...but I don't want to create a CSS class. The reason being is because when I do that, it messes up the formatting of the element being styled. I am sure that it is some small quirk somewhere that would fix it, but I am not interested in wading through the entire code base to fix little positioning issues with a new class. I would much rather just edit the css attribute directly - because it doesn't interfere with the layout. Edit2: Here is the jsfiddle of the code I am trying to edit.
