• Clip Grab for Ubuntu 12.04

  Having issues downloading the newest version of Clip Grab http://clipgrab.de/en, I tried to install it in the terminal, tried finding the software in Ubuntu Software Center, I have even tried to extract the folder for which the software is in at, no luck... When trying to install in the terminal it gives me an error about my ppa. No luck what-so-ever. I love this program, it has worked for several months, and this is annoying that I can not use this program now. Please respond back to me, I also have had no luck with response either.

In each case I asked two questions:Can you provide me with a fixed IP Address?Is the equipment to be provided compatible with IPv6?None of the question was satisfactorily answered. One of the persons answering even suggested that granting a fixed IP Address would be a breach of security!I find it very disturbing that two companies that present themselves as innovative should still not be preparing for IPv6. The answer I would have expected was that all new equipment being supplied was IPv6 compatible and that plans were in hand for a switchover to IPv6. Instead new equipment would be supplied that would have to be replaced when IPv6 comes. Equally disturbing was that the call center people who answered did not know why a fixed IP address was important or why the change to IPv6 would have to come.I would rather not name and shame the two companies, however I will be looking elsewhere for my next Internet Service Provider.

  I tried to install the Ubuntu Studio Graphics meta-package, however it didn't install correctly.The package gimp-plugin-registry just won`t install, i tried the one in the Software center and the one on the WebUp8 PPA neither package works. The following NEW packages will be installed: gimp-plugin-registry 0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 0B/1395kB of archives. After this operation, 3592kB of additional disk space will be used. (Reading database ... 402557 files and directories currently installed.) • Collision Detection fails with AI cars

  I am making a car parking game in flash and AS3 wherein I drive my car along with other AI traffic cars moving along a specified path using Guidelines. I am using CDK for collision detection. The collision detection works fine with few AI cars, but doesn't seems to be working as required for few AI cars. When an AI car is moving on a path in a straight line it works fine.... but when the AI Car turns at 90 degress..... my car goes into the AI car (Overlapping) and it hits at the center of that AI car and then collision is Detected.... ..... I made a New path and used a new Sprite for AI car... but still the problem pursues....

Two desktop in other room with dualboot win7 and ubuntu. SHARP AQUOS Plasma Tv with Wi-Fi connected. I want to install ubuntu as media server to stream audio/video files over wi-fi. Not only this i want this media server to use its own processing power to decode ans stream so that on remote end only file can play without using their own resource. Is it possible to use ubuntu as media server to stream files without making the remote end to use there own resource. I want only bandwidth of Wi-Fi to be use in this and media center hardware resource.Remote end gadget should use only speaker and screen and not processing power of their own. Please any suggestion is it possible to do so ?

  I have a number of scanned documents in pdf and I want to be able to search them. How can I do that? Essentially I have to OCR the pdf and then blend the extracted text back into a new pdf. I have unsuccesfully tried pdfocr (which gives me this issue: https://github.com/gkovacs/pdfocr/issues/7) pdfsandwich (of which the software center says it is a poor package and I should not install it) Is there a software package I am unaware of? Or a script that does this?

• How to modify Dreamweaver's SpryMenuBar.js to send a msgbox on what menu was clicked?

  I have a simple HTML webpage made in Dreamweaver with a SpryMenuBar. When I click on a menu item, I want to send a pop up message box that says which menu item was clicked. (This is not really my objective but once I can learn to hook into the spry java script with a mouse click listener I can try to do what I am really after.) The problem is for some reason I can't seem to get started with this seemingly simple task. Does anybody know how to revise the SpryMenuBar.js to make a msgbox showing the item that was clicked? For example if I click a menu that say's 'Contact us', I wan't to throw a message box that says "You pressed, Contact us". Note: My final objective is to actually call another function that changes text in the center of my page, depending on what menu item was clicked.

• Screen dims on opening certain applications on Macbook

  I have ubuntu 11.10 installed on an old 2008 macbook. There is an issue of screen dimming that I didnt find anywhere else on the forums. The issue is that the screen is dimmed when I open certain applications (Firefox, Software Center) and this cannot be readjusted by the physical brightness buttons on the keyboard. I tried a bunch of things on the barely barely visible screen, and had no choice but to restart. This has happened everytime. Does anyone know how to solve this?

• Problem installing LibreOffice; please help!

  I followed the instructions for installing LibreOffice found here, which are basically the same instructions found all over askubuntu and the web in general. I followed the instructions (including removing OO first) for gnome; all that is in my Applications menu now is LibreOffice (OO used to have OpenOffice Spreadsheet, OpenOffice Presentation, etc.) When I open LibreOffice, I get the splash screen/menu, but all of the choices for creating new docs are greyed out. It also will not open any office/type files (no errors; they just don't open.) The terminal commands indicated that installation was successful, but obviously something is missing. I'm guessing I can just reinstall OO from the software center, but I'd really like to give LibreOffice a try, given the lack of ongoing development on OO. Can anyone help me out?

Right now I am using Illustrator, but I can never get the center of the character in the exact position, so it looks like it is moving around(even though its always in one place), while being loop through the sprite sheet. Is there any better tools that I can be using? Also what kind of tips would you give for working with a sprite sheet? Should I create each part of the character in individual layers (left arm, right arm, body, etc.) or everything at once? any other tips would also be helpful! thank you

• PHP city-sim castle layout

  I am currently contemplating the layout system for my php based game but i've run into a couple of worries. So my idea is a 9X9 grid where the center 3X3 are inner castle. The inner castle will be 6X6 if you enter it(click on it). and with the option to expand the inner castle converting one of the 9X9 tiles to a 4X4 inner castle tile. So here is my question: What is the best way to tackle this type of layout? my original idea was a 18X18 grid and saving it in the db as (idCastle, Y, X) where X is a string of 18 numbers long telling me if the tile is an inner/outer tile or a inner/outer building. but i am not really fond of this idea and would like to hear some other ideas on how to tackle this.   I have started making my first game( a pong game )with ruby (Gosu). I'm trying to detect the collision of two images using their location by comparing the location of the object (a ball) to another one(a player). For example: if (@player.x - @ball.x).abs <=184 && (@player.y - @ball.y).abs <= 40 @ball.vx = [email protected] @ball.vy = [email protected] But my problem is that with these numbers, the ball collides near the player sometimes, even though the dimensions of the player are correct. So my question is from where does the x values start to count? Is it from the center of gravity of the image or from the beginning of the image? (i.e When you add the image on a specific x,y,z what are these values compared to the image?

• How to use driver for printer?

  I've been trying to get my Lexmark x1290 to work on Ubuntu 12.04. According to this post, the z600 driver should work to print, so I downloaded the z600 driver from here and installed it through the Ubuntu Software Center. I plugged in my printer and went to the "Printer" section under System Settings... and followed the wizard to install it. It showed up as "1200-series" but never gave me a choice to choose the driver and when I try to print to it, it pops up a message that it is printing and then that it is done printing, but it is definitely not printing anything.
