    Hi, i have a stored procedure that has to retrieve data from multiple tables something like SELECT [AppointmentId] ,[ContactId] ,[Date] ,[BookedBy] ,[Details] ,[Status] ,[Time] ,[Type] ,[JobId] ,[AppointmentFor] ,(Select PersonFirstName from Person where Person_Id = [AppointmentFor]) As UserFirstName ,(Select PersonLastName from Person where Person_Id = [AppointmentFor]) As UserLastName ,(Select PersonFirstName from Person where Person_Id = [ContactId]) As ContactFirstName ,(Select PersonLastName from Person where Person_Id = [ContactId]) As ContactLastName FROM [dbo].[Appointments] my question is there is any other more efficient way to do this? Or is this the right approach? I am working on a Sql server 2008 Thanks

    I want to convert a string like this: '10/15/2008 10:06:32 PM' into the equivalent DATETIME value in Sql Server. In Oracle, I would say this: TO_DATE('10/15/2008 10:06:32 PM','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM') This question implies that I must parse the string into one of the standard formats, and then convert using one of those codes. That seems ludicrous for such a mundane operation. Is there an easier way?

    I am targeting windows machines. I need to get access to the pointer to the byte array describing the individual streaming frames from an attached usb webcam. I saw the playcap directshow sample from the windows sdk, but I dont see how to get to raw data, frankly, I don't understand how the video actually gets to the window. Since I don't really need anything other than the video capture I would prefer not to use opencv. Visual Studio 2008 c++

    Hi, I just noticed that if I have an identity column in a table, when I insert new rows MS SQL 2008 is automatically filling up the sequence if there are discontinuity. I mean, if in my identity column I have 1,2,5,6 if I insert other two rows in the table the system puts automatically 3,7 in the identity column. Do you know how to control this behavior? THANKS

Little Background: Until the time the table has few number of records things will be okay, once it started having millions of records then index should be created for a column which is used in WHERE clauses in stored procs, inline queries etc., Since we have hundreds of stored procs and queries that often gets changed by the devs I wanted to have a automated way of identifying those columns that are used in WHERE clauses but not an index is created.   • Copy SQL 2005 view result column headers?

    Is there a way to copy View output column headers along with the data? There is a setting in Options to include column headers with query results, but that only works with "New Query" and Stored Procedure output. Looks like SSMS 2008 has this functionality built in to the contextual menu when you right click on results, but I only have 2005. Am I out of luck? Thanks for any help.

    I'm using Entity Framework for a new project (VS 2008, .net 3.5 sp1) and "reasonably happy" with it, especially compared to dataset-based solutions. One of recurring annoyances is "Could not find file CodeGenerationSchema.xsd" exception during application startup. Exception seems to re-appear rather frequently after changes to the model. Googling gives temporary and strange workarounds for this error: Delete .suo file, or Set Options Debugging General Enable Just My Code = On May be someone have more permanent, straightforward fix or can explain the reason of this issue.

    I'm going to have my website hosted soon on a VPS or dedicated server (with Windows 2008), so I'm trying to plan ahead. I wonder whether the built-in SMTP server that comes with IIS7 is reliable enough for a production server or should I look for an alternative?     Am I doing something wrong here? I have a text area on a view and am posting back the html contents. In VS 2008 and MVC 1.0 the following code successfully prevents input validation: [HttpPost] [ValidateInput(false)] public ActionResult Index(int? id) { return View(); } If I execute this code in VS 2010 / MVC 2.0 I always get this error: A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (body=""). Any ideas?
