• How does NHibernate handle cascade="all-delete-orphan"?

  I've been digging around the NHibernate sources a little, trying to understand how NHibernate implements removing child elements from a collection. I think I've already found the answer, but I'd ideally like this to be confirmed by someone familiar with the matter. So far I've found AbstractPersistentCollection (base class for all collection proxies) has a static helper method called GetOrphans to find orphans by comparing the current collection with a snapshot. The existence of this method suggests NHibernate tries to find all oprhaned elements and then deletes them by key. Is this correct, in terms of the generated SQL?

• Create Custom Builds of an Xcode Project

  I am going to build a Mac application written in Obj-C with Xcode. For argument's sake let's say it will have 10 optional features. I need a way to enable or disable those features to create custom builds of the application. These builds would be automated (most likely through the Mac OS X Terminal) so I would need a way to state which of these features are enabled/disabled at build time (a configuration file or CLI arguments would be ideal.) So what is the best way to accomplish this? I'm trying to plan this out before I start coding so that there is proper separation in my code base to allow for these features to come and go. Ideally the custom build would only contain compiled code for the features it should have. In other words I don't want to always compile all the features and condition them out at runtime.

  I have the following code protocol snippets: @protocol FooDelegate; @interface Foo : UIViewController { id delegate; } ... @protocol FooDelegate ... // method 1 ... // method 2 ... @end Also, the following code which implements FooDelegate: @interface Bar1 : UIViewController { ... } @interface Bar2 : UITableViewController { ... } It turns out the implementation of FooDelegate is the same on both Bar1 and Bar2 classes. I currently just copy FooDelegate implementation code from Bar1 to Bar2. How do I structure/implement in such a way that Bar1 and Bar2 share the same code in a single code base (not as currently with 2 copies) since they are the same? Thanks in advance for your help.

• NHibernate transactions randomly not rolled back

  I have a suite of integration tests that run inside transactions. Sometimes it seems that NHibernate transactions are not being correctly rolled back. I can't work out what causes this. • Intellij-Idea: Marking all files of unknown type as text (so that they are searchable)

  Many of my scripts etc in intellij are marked with a question mark. Then when I click on them them it prompts me: The file "bla" cannot be associated with a registered file type. Please choose one: <insert table of file choices> This would not matter except the files are not searchable (with ctrl-shift-n) until they are marked as text. This is a major problem for me. I have an enormous code base and I don't want to mark all of the unknown files as text. Is there anyway that I can do that?

  I have this in activemq config <sslContext> <sslContext keyStore="file:/home/alex/work/amq/broker.ks" keyStorePassword="password" trustStore="file:${activemq.base}/conf/broker.ts" trustStorePassword="password"/> </sslContext> I have a pair of x509 cert and a key file How do I import those two to be used in ssl and ssl+stomp connectors? All examples i could google always generate the key themselves, but I already have a key. I have tried keytool -import -keystore ./broker.ks -file mycert.crt but this only imports the certificate and not the key file and results in 2009-05-25 13:16:24,270 [localhost:61612] ERROR TransportConnector - Could not accept connection : No available certificate or key corresponds to the SSL cipher suites which are enabled. I have tried concatenating the cert and the key but got the same result How do I import the key?

  Is there any ability to mock methods that are provided with RIA Services? I would like to test my Silverlight App without communication to the server side... I see a following approach: create a separate interface; add it to "base classes" for my RiaService; define each autogenerated RIA-method in this interface; insert dependency so that my "functionality" will depend not from the RiaService, but from the interface that is implemented with RiaService. But for this case I see a problem: how to keep my interface in the auto-generated files? ANy thoughts are welcome.

• Calculate broadcast address from ip and subnet mask

  Hi I want to calculate the broadcast address for e.g -IP 192.168.3.1 -Subnet 255.255.255.0 =192.168.3.255 in C. I know the way (doing fancy bitwise OR's between the inversed IP and Subnet), but my problem is I come from the green fields of MacOSX Cocoa programing. I looked into the source of ipcal, but wasn't able to integrate it into my code base. There must be a simple 10 line of code example somewhere on the internet, I just can't find it. • ASP.NET MVC ,Maintaining Model State between Ajax requests

  problem: On first full page request, my controller invokes an applicationServices Layer (Web Service Proxy to my business tier) in order to populate a collection of current services that is stored in my own controller base class property. This is then to be displayed within a view. Everything within the context of that controller has access to this "Services Collection". Now when i make further calls to the same action method via an AJAX Call, i obviously hitt a different instance of that controller meaning my services collection is empty. So other than re-getting the whole collection again, where would i store this collection so it gets persisted between ajax requests? Should i persist it as a seperate DomainModel Object, Session object?....as ViewData is not working for me obv. Excuse my MVC ignorance :) Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

In my answer to his question (which is related to something else), I told him that I would discourage him from using such an approach, but without giving any real reasons. He is now wanting reasons why it is not a good idea, and I'm using this question to see if the community can come up with a compelling enough list of reasons for him to use another approach, such as one using a dbms, code-reuse, url-rewriting, MVC, and what not.

• Why does localization with resx files fail with ZH (chinese) only?

  Howdy All, I've been tasked with localizing an English language ASP.NET MVC 2.0 website into 7 additional languages. I've added resource files to the Views Home App_LocalResources folder: Example: Index.resx, Index.es.resx, Index.fr.resx, Index.zh.resx, etc. I have set the CustomTool to PublicResXFileCodeGenerator (Access modifier is Public), Set file as an Embedded Resource, Set a Custom Tool Namespace. The keys ("Name") in all of the files are the same. For 7 languages this works perfectly. If I go into IE 8 settings and change the language to de,fr,it, etc., the page shows the appropriate translated strings. However, when I set the language in the Browser to any of the zh (Simplified Chinese) variants localization completely fails and the English strings are displayed. Is there something special about Simplified Chinese? Japanese and Korean work without problems. TIA, Trey Carroll

I have multiple subfolders (http://www.site.com/es and http://www.site.com/de) that each have a respective .htaccess file. When accessing these folders, the .htaccess file does this to "silently" redirect the user and add the appropriate php variable: ------- Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine on RewriteOptions MaxRedirects=10 rewriterule ^http://www.site.com/es/$ http://www.site.com/?l=es [P,R=301] rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://www.site.com/$1?l=es [P,R=301] ------- When someone accesses the root directory: http://www.site.com, I want to add a ?l=en suffix "silently" to the url.   Anyone know of a Python module that can pull Tag data from multiple media formats? Trying to build an app that allows for manipulation of ASF (Windows Media Player files, ie WMA, WMV, etc), ID3, including both ID3v1 and ID3v2 (MPEG files, ie MP3), MPEG Audio Bit Stream (ie ABS, MP1, MP2, MP3), MPEG Program Stream (MPEG movies, and DVD and HD DVD video discs, ie MPG, MPEG, VOB, EVO), and ISO Base Media File Format (eg QuickTime, MPEG-4 and iTunes AAC files, ie QT, MOV, MP4, M4A, M4B, M4P, M4V, etc). Don't need ALL of that but just most standard consumer formats like mov and mpeg. I can't seem to find a good module to support that or a library. Any recommendations?

• Flex TileList control, image loading issue

  I have a flex 3 TileList in wich a load several image (employee's headshot pictures). The image I'm loading in the TileList are stored in a DataBase (I use the ByteArray class and a Base 64 encoding to store the images in the DB). When I load the images in the TileList from the DB, there is no problem they are displayed correctly, but when I scroll down in the TileList and scroll up again, the position of the images is changing, so for example the image in first position can be now in the 3rd and so on .... • Best way to optimize queries like this in Django

  I am trying to lower the amount of queries that my django app is using, but I am a little confused on how to do it. I would like to get a query set with one hit to the database and then filter items from that set. I have tried a couple of things, but I always get queries for each set. let's say I want to get all names from my DB, but also separate out the people just named Ted. Both the names and the ted set will be used in the template. This will give me two sets, one with all names and one with Ted.. but also hits the database twice: namelist = People.objects.all() tedList = namelist.filter(name='ted') Is there a way to filter the first set without hitting the data base again?

• NSIS Installer - Displaying different licences

  Heya, I'm trying to modify an existing NSIS install script to allow for different licence files to be presented to the user depending on whether they are a new or existing user. I have pre-existing code which detects an existing install in the .onInit section. However I'm running into bumps trying to use the NSIS provided licence screen e.g. !InsertMacro MUI_PAGE_LICENSE Content\Licence.rtf I would like to be able to choose between Licence and Licence2.rtf (though they'll be renamed something representative in the final version). I've tried using selectable sections calling functions which nest the !insertmacro but that doesn't work because it needs to be in the base level of the script. I can't change the parameter to be runtime definable because it needs to know what the file is at compile time to build it into the installer. I know I can roll my own custom page called from a function and do it that way but I was wondering if anyone had got the NSIS installer working with using the MUI_PAGE_LICENSE and different licences.   I know why the following code doesn't compile: public class Main { public static void main(String args[]) { main((null)); // this is fine! (main(null)); // this is NOT! } } What I'm wondering is why my compiler (javac 1.6.0_17, Windows version) is complaining "The left hand side of an assignment must be a variable". I'd expect something like "Don't put parentheses around a method invokation, dummy!", instead. So why is the compiler making a totally unhelpful complaint about something that is blatantly irrelevant? Is this the result of an ambiguity in the grammar? A bug in the compiler? If it's the former, could you design a language such that a compiler would never be so off-base about a syntax error like this?

• ASP.NET MVC 2 RC 2 returns Area-specific controller when no area specified

  I have a basic MVC 2 (RC2) site with one base-level controller ("Home"), and one area ("Admin") with one controller ("Abstract"). When i call http://website/Abstract - the Abstract controller in the Admin area gets called even though i haven't specified the Area in the URL. To make matters worse - it doesn't seem to know it's under Admin because it can't find the associated view and just returns: The view 'Index' or its master was not found. The following locations were searched: ~/Views/Abstract/Index.aspx ~/Views/Abstract/Index.ascx ~/Views/Shared/Index.aspx ~/Views/Shared/Index.ascx Am i doing something wrong? Is this a bug? A feature?

• Android: Registering ContextMenu for a Custom ListAdapter

  Hi, I made a custom list adapter extending the Base adapter. Each item in the list has an imagebutton, 2 textviews and a button. I tried to add the context menu to the list so as to display some options for an item in the list. registerForContextMenu(getListView()); I used a MenuInflater object to inflate the context menu xml file. But on clicking the items in the list nothing shows up or the usual highlighting of the item of list on click isn't shown. Is it that the context menu doesn't work for custom list views? Any help would be much appreciated. Regards, Primal
