• vb.net checkboxes. Need to populate from database and also help in designing

  i have this requirement and since im new to vb.net dont really have much of idea how to do this. I have 20 checkboxes with dropdowns and textbox with it. the example is - table tr td checkbox -- textbox -- dropdownlist /td /tr tr td chk1 txtbox1 ddl1 /td /tr tr td chk2 txtbox2 ddl2 /td /tr and so on. the above structure shall be in one row of a table. does anyone know how to design this in code recursive and also how to take the checkbox data from here and send it to db table for records insert, update and select. thanks

• Google Cloud Messaging

  I downloaded the GCM project from git and i was able to start the server (app engine for java) and also compile the client apk on the device. On startup the device successfully registers with the server and I can see the registration id when i go to http://myserverip:8080/_ah/admin/. The problem is when i hit the 'Send Message' button there is a message 'Single message queued for registration id ' and it doesn't do anything. Below is a screenshot of the error i noticed on the terminal. Am i missing something. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. .

• PHP cors validation

  I have an endpoint that takes GET requests to collect data from any source that wants to send data. Is there a way to run some validation that the data is in fact coming from the sources we allowed? They enter the website url that they will be sending the data from and we generate an api key. The data is sent via a javascript file that they install onto their website. I have the Access-Control-Allow-Origin set to * as it doesn't necessarily scale to add in hundreds or more websites to that header and that in itself is a security risk as it shows anyone who wants to look at the headers who uses the script. Currently I am thinking of using the http_origin / origin referrer, but obviously that doesn't do too much

• Site won't open in Facebook App for ios, nor redirect to Safari

  I'm not a heavy coder here, so i'll ask my best. We made a brochure about our home town. However users spreading it trough facebook cant open the links when in their facebook app. The app does not send it to safari either. If opened directly from safari it is no problem. The link is http://visit.lodingen360.com Is there anything i can do to the site/index.html/whatever that will make it open in safari when the link is clicked in the facebook app for ios? (that won't affect visiting the site from pc's and so on) Is there anything uiwebview won't read that can force it to safari, so that we can redirect from the thing opened in safari to the site?

• How to keep statefull web clients in sync, when multiple clients are looking at the same data?

  In a RIA web client, created with GWT, the state is maintained in the web client, while the server is (almost) stateless (this is the preferred technique to keep the site scalable). However, if multiple users looking at the same data in their browser and one user changes something, which is send to the server and stored in the database, the other users still have the old data in their browser state. For example a tree is shown and one of the users adds/removes an item from the tree. Since there can be a lot of state in the client, what is the best technique to keep the state in the clients in sync? Are there any java frameworks that take care of this?

  "How do you hang up incoming calls (in Android of course)?" First, I know this question has been asked and answered several times, and the response is always "you can't". But if we look in the market we get a few applications (all private software, no access to the source code... :-( ) that do this action, such as CallFilter, Panda firewall and others... So... does somebody know how these apps do the hang up action, (or terminate, or disconnect or whatever you call it..)? And other question, if the first don't get a response.. does somebody know how send an incoming call to the voice mail? Of course, all questions are about how to do it programmatically. So with the voicemail question I know there's a flag in contacts that is used for that, but like I said, I'd like to know the programmatical way. Thanks all!

  I would like to create an app such that I can send an email with a JPEG attachment and then display it on my site. I am fairly certain that the Mail API allows me to do this, but if it isn't possible please let me know. My biggest concern is what are the limits on the attachment size my app can receive, and what are the quotas related to receiving email? The email quotas I saw seemed to specify quotas for outgoing email. Is it different for incoming mail?

• Looking for an approach to program a mobile website for any device. Are there any?

  My wish is to know how I can program a mobile website, that fit to all mobile phones. Are there any special approaches to recognize a device and render the code according to it? Which tools and coding languages are required? My first thought was to hold the website in XML, which would be parsed depending on the device. You have to consider old phones, even devices with only wap support. For example: The mobile website has to recognize Nokia N75 and render/send the code that looks optimal for this device. Same thing with an iPhone or a Motorola Razr.

• Javascript Shift+Enter (Firefox)

  Hi guys, Had a look and found some things on this, but nothing seems to work as I'd like it. Initially I had my solution working with internet explorer and chrome, but not firefox (which is unsatisfactory for me to not have working) What I'm looking for is a simple text area, which sends data on enter key, but creates a new line on Shift+Enter.   This is how I got my php array to javascript echo 'var daysofweek = '.json_encode($daysofweek).';'; Now I am aware that json_decode can do the opposite, however the problem is I don't know the syntax to do so. I forgot to mention that I want to send an array through post, having all my information regarding all the form values dynamically created by javascript. • Simple Communication between 2 instances of application

  I have a WPF application that can take a few optional command line arguments. This application is also a single instance application (using a mutex to close any instances if one is already open). What I want for it to do though, is if something tries to open the application with some cmd line args, that the application will do what it's suppose to do with those (in my application it opens different dialogs based on the cmd line). What is the easiest way to achieve this? • Micro Controller Serial Data identification or classification

  I have a x51 family micro controller (P89V51RD2). I'm going to send some data from computer using serial port. The data i'll be sending are Character 'S' Character 'R' and a 2 digit integer. Upon receiving the data, I will be calling separate functions. I used if(chr=='S') and elseif(chr=='R')for character data. The main problem lies with identifying the 2 digit number sent. Any other data other than the above three mentioned will be discarded. Any ideas for identifying two digit integer ??

  M iPhone app is using the MFMailComposeViewController class to send an in-app email with an attachment. The app will only attempt to display the mail composer dialog if the "canSendMail" method of class MFMailComposeViewController returns true (YES).   Where I am, I can't afford to get certification. I'm definitely not the best programmer, but I do know my junk. I've been writing software in C++ for over 8 years now and have a very good knowledge of the Win32 API. But when applying for jobs, I get rejected every time I send a resume. I've given my resume to recruitment firms and asked them what they think's wrong with it and they said the only thing they could think of is the fact that I don't have certifications to prove that I know my stuff. But in my resume, I explain my previous work and projects, and also note that upon request they can actually see what I've done. Is there anything that you would suggest that might help others to stop ignoring my resumes? Thank you

• More HTTP verbs with AS3?

  I'm developing a social game in Flash with a team of developers. Our server-side guy has developed a really slick RESTful API for the Flash client to talk to. A lot of the client-server interactions involve adding and removing objects from a persistent world, so the API makes extensive use of the PUT and DELETE verbs. The problem is, the URLRequest object in AS3 only supports the GET and POST verbs. We're on a strict schedule, and we'd really rather not have to rewrite the whole API to just use GET and POST. Has anyone come up with a good way to get Flash to send other verbs?

• How should I display invalid options?

  I've got a WinForms client-server app that displays various offers in a list. Every user (client) has a "rating". An offer consists of various data including a minimum and maximum rating. If a user's rating does not fall in that interval, he should not be able to take the offer. Of course I could just perform some server filtering and send a list of offers prefiltered for each user to the client application. But that would surely, and rightfully, lead to confused requests "Why isn't this offer showing up? I know it exists, it shows up on [other user]'s screen." How should I handle this? My favorite solution so far is to grey out the offer and add a tooltip "You can't take this offer because your rating is too high/low" while displaying greyed-out offers at the bottom of the list to leave the actually valid offers easily visible on top of the list.

• PHP display progress messages on the fly

  Hi everyone, I am working in a tool in PHP that processes a lot of data and takes a while to finish. I would like to keep the user updated with what is going on and the current task processed. What is in your opinion the best way to do it? I've got some ideas but can't decide for the most effective one: The old way: execute a small part of the script and display a page to the user with a Meta Redirect or a JavaScript timer to send a request to continue the script (like /script.php?step=2). Sending AJAX requests constantly to read a server file that PHP keeps updating through fwrite(). Same as above but PHP updates a field in the database instead of saving a file. Does any of those sound good? Any ideas? Thanks!

• How to handle request/response propagation up and down a widget hierarchy in a GUI app?

  Given a GUI application where widgets can be composed of other widgets: If the user triggers an event resulting in a lower level widget needing data from a model, what's the cleanest way to be able to send that request to a controller (or the datastore itself)? And subsequently get the response back to that widget? Presumably one wouldn't want the controller or datastore to be a singleton directly available to all levels of widgets, or is this an acceptable use of singleton? Or should a top level controller be injected as a dependency through a widget hierarchy, as far down as the lowest level widget that might need that controller? Or a different approach entirely?
